  • SVN naming convention: repository, branches, tags

    Hey all! Just curious what your naming conventions are for the following: Repository name Branches Tags Right now, we're employing the following standards with SVN, but would like to improve on it: Each project has its own repository Each repository has a set of directories: tags, branches, trunk Tags are immutable copies of the the tree (release, beta, rc, etc.) Branches are typically feature branches Trunk is ongoing development (quick additions, bug fixes, etc.) Now, with that said, I'm curious how everyone is not only handling the naming of their repositories, but also their tags and branches. For example, do you employ a camel case structure for the project name? So, if your project is something like Backyard Baseball for Youngins, how do you handle that? backyardBaseballForYoungins backyard_baseball_for_youngins BackyardBaseballForYoungins backyardbaseballforyoungins That seems rather trivial, but it's a question. If you're going with the feature branch paradigm, how do you name your feature branches? After the feature itself in plain English? Some sort of versioning scheme? I.e. say you want to add functionality to the Backyard Baseball app that allows users to add their own statistics. What would you call your branch? {repoName}/branches/user-add-statistics {repoName}/branches/userAddStatistics {repoName}/branches/user_add_statistics etc. Or: {repoName}/branches/1.1.0.1 If you go the version route, how do you correlate the version numbers? It seems that feature branches wouldn't benefit much from a versioning schema, being that 1 developer could be working on the "user add statistics" functionality, and another developer could be working on the "admin add statistics" functionality. How are these do branch versions named? Are they better off being: {repoName}/branches/1.1.0.1 - user add statistics {repoName}/branches/1.1.0.2 - admin add statistics And once they're merged into the trunk, the trunk might increment appropriately? Tags seem like they'd benefit the most from version numbers. With that being said, how are you correlating the versions for your project (whether it be trunk, branch, tag, etc.) with SVN? I.e. how do you, as the developer, know that 1.1.1 has admin add statistics, and user add statistics functionality? How are these descriptive and linked? It'd make sense for tags to have release notes in each tag since they're immutable. But, yeah, what are your SVN policies going forward?

    When using Struts2 validation, when you put the <s:actionerror> tag in your JSP, the default behavior is to display all the action errors at that point in the page. Is there a way to display only specific error messages at that point? For example, in the case of fielderror one only needs to add the fieldName attribute. Is there an attribute of actionerror that accomplishes similar behavior?

  • How to stop event bubbling with jquery live?

    Hi I am trying to stop some events but stopPropagation does not work with "live" so I am not sure what to do. I found this on their site. Live events do not bubble in the traditional manner and cannot be stopped using stopPropagation or stopImmediatePropagation. For example, take the case of two click events - one bound to "li" and another "li a". Should a click occur on the inner anchor BOTH events will be triggered. This is because when a $("li").bind("click", fn); is bound you're actually saying "Whenever a click event occurs on an LI element - or inside an LI element - trigger this click event." To stop further processing for a live event, fn must return false It says that fn must return false so what I tried to do $('.MoreAppointments').live('click', function(e) { alert("Hi"); return false; }); but that did not work so I am not sure how to make it return false. Update Here is some more information. I have a table cell and I bind a click event to it. $('#CalendarBody .DateBox').click(function(e) { AddApointment(this); }); So the AddApointment just makes some ui dialog box. Now the live code(MoreAppointments) sits in this table cell and is basically an anchor tag. So when I click on the anchor tag it first goes to the above code(addApointment - so runs that event first) runs that but does not launch my dialog box instead it goes straight to the (MoreAppointment) event and runs that code. Once that code has run it launches the dialog box from "addApointment". Update 2 Here is some of the html. I did not copy the whole table since it is kinda big and all the cells repeat itself with the same data.   • Mplayer no sound when playing some movies

    Ok, that's a bit of a strange problem, that somehow crept into my system. It used to work fine. Here is the problem as far as I can identify it. When I try to play certain video files with mplayer, there is no sound. As far as I can tell, it is only an issue with ac3 and dts sound tracks (using the ffmpeg decoder). Mplayer says: ========================================================================== Opening audio decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg/libavcodec audio decoders AUDIO: 48000 Hz, 6 ch, s16le, 1536.0 kbit/33.33% (ratio: 192000->576000) Selected audio codec: [ffdca] afm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg DTS) ========================================================================== [AO_ALSA] Playback open error: Device or resource busy Failed to initialize audio driver 'alsa' Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound. Audio: no sound (similar with ac3 sound, but using the ffac3 audio codec). Trying different audio output (-ao oss/pcm/sdl) doesn't fix the problem. The strange thing is that if I play these files directly with ffplay, they work fine. mplayer sound with mp3/ogg is fine My alsa configuration is standard (no /etc/asound.conf or ~/.asound*) OS: Linux Gentoo Mplayer: 1.0_rc4_p20100213 (SVN-r30554-4.3.4) FFMpeg: 0.5_p20601-r1 (SVN-r20601) Any other information I can provide?

    I am stuck on how to create tags for each post on my site. I am not sure how to add the tags into database. Currently... I have 3 tables: +---------------------+ +--------------------+ +---------------------+ | Tags | | Posting | | PostingTags | +---------------------+ +--------------------+ +---------------------+ | + TagID | | + posting_id | | + posting_id | +---------------------+ +--------------------+ +---------------------+ | + TagName | | + title | | + tagid | +---------------------+ +--------------------+ +---------------------+ The Tags table is just the name of the tags(ex: 1 PHP, 2 MySQL,3 HTML) The posting (ex: 1 What is PHP?, 2 What is CSS?, 3 What is HTML?) The postingtags shows the relation between posting and tags. When users type a posting, I insert the data into the "posting" table. It automatically inserts the posting_id for each post(posting_id is a primary key). $title = mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc, trim($_POST['title'])); $query4 = "INSERT INTO posting (title) VALUES ('$title')"; mysqli_query($dbc, $query4); HOWEVER, how do I insert the tags for each post? When users are filling out the form, there is a checkbox area for all the tags available and they check off whatever tags they want. (I am not doing where users type in the tags they want just yet) This shows each tag with a checkbox.     I have a stored time value which is of the format H:mm:ss. The hours may be any value from 0 up through several days. This data is sent in an XML tag and processed by XSL to be displayed. The display that I want is of the format: D days, HH:mm:ss (hours/minutes) Where the last tag shows hours if HH is greater than 0, minutes if it is 0. Given the original HH, which may be more than 24, I know I need the floor of HH / 24 to get the days value. Then the original HH % 24 gives me the leftover hours. I have also handled the minutes and hours question using xsl:when and xsl:if. It's getting days and hours from the hours value that has me stumped.     I have recently bought Philips SHB6110. Extract from the 13th page of manual: Therefore you can connect your Bluetooth stereo headset. with a Bluetooth stereo enabled phone to both listen to music and lead calls, or with a Bluetooth phone that does not support Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) to lead calls and at the same time to a Bluetooth audio device (Bluetooth enabled MP3 player, Bluetooth audio adapter etc.) to listen to music. Make sure to pair the phone first with your Bluetooth headset, then turn both the phone and headset off to then pair the Bluetooth audio device. With the SwitchStream feature you can listen to music and monitor your calls at the same time. Even while listening to music, you will hear a ring tone when receiving a call and can switch to the call simply by tapping the button. The manual however doesn't specify how do I connect to both device at the same time. I use Toshiba Satellite Pro P300-1CG laptop with Belkin Mini Bluetooth Adapter and Nokia N95 phone. Operating system is Windows 7 64-bit and I have Skype installed. Both phone and compute can be used for listening to music and talking on the phone (on PC via Skype). Best solution would be if I could connect to PC and phone as the same time and monitor calls both mobile and Skype calls while listening music from Winamp. If that is not possible, then I would like at least to be able to listen music from PC, while monitoring calls from mobile. So, please tell me how do I connect both PC and phone to headphones?

  • XML: Process large data

    Hello What XML-parser do you recommend for the following purpose: The XML-file (formatted, containing whitespaces) is around 800 MB. It mostly contains three types of tag (let's call them n, w and r). They have an attribute called id which i'd have to search for, as fast as possible. Removing attributes I don't need could save around 30%, maybe a bit more. First part for optimizing the second part: Is there any good tool (command line linux and windows if possible) to easily remove unused attributes in certain tags? I know that XSLT could be used. Or are there any easy alternatives? Also, I could split it into three files, one for each tag to gain speed for later parsing... Speed is not too important for this preparation of the data, of course it would be nice when it took rather minutes than hours. Second part: Once I have the data prepared, be it shortened or not, I should be able to search for the ID-attribute I was mentioning, this being time-critical. Estimations using wc -l tell me that there are around 3M N-tags and around 418K W-tags. The latter ones can contain up to approximately 20 subtags each. W-Tags also contain some, but they would be stripped away. "All I have to do" is navigating between tags containing certain id-attributes. Some tags have references to other id's, therefore giving me a tree, maybe even a graph. The original data is big (as mentioned), but the resultset shouldn't be too big as I only have to pick out certain elements. Now the question: What XML parsing library should I use for this kind of processing? I would use Java 6 in a first instance, with having in mind to be porting it to BlackBerry. Might it be useful to just create a flat file indexing the id's and pointing to an offset in the file? Is it even necessary to do the optimizations mentioned in the upper part? Or are there parser known to be quite as fast with the original data? Little note: To test, I took the id being on the very last line on the file and searching for the id using grep. This took around a minute on a Core 2 Duo. What happens if the file grows even bigger, let's say 5 GB? I appreciate any notice or recommendation. Thank you all very much in advance and regards
