  • What's wrong with this addProximity code?

    - by Pentium10
I have this code: private void setupProximity() { Intent intent = new Intent(this, viewContacts.class); PendingIntent sender = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(this, 0, intent, 0); LocationUtils.addProximity(this, -37.40, 144.55, 1000, 1000000, sender); } public static void addProximity(Context ctx, double lat, double lon, float rad, long exp, PendingIntent pintent) { LocationManager lm = (LocationManager) ctx.getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE); lm.addProximityAlert(lat, lon, rad, exp, pintent); } Why I don't get the class to fire up? I am in the range of the zone.

  • How to get multiple copies of a UIView loaded from a nib?

    - by dmaestro12
I want to use a UIView heirarchy multiple times (the nib object is a template). Unfortunately, UIView does not conform to <NSCopying so [cell.contentView addSubview: [[templEditCellView copy] autorelease]]; does not work. I wasn't surprised, since I want a deep copy of the view heirarchy. Currently the view is a top-level object in the nib it is loaded from. Is there a way to reload a single specified top-level object from the nib? Should I split out the view to a single NIB which can be reloaded on demand? Or is there another way to make a deep copy of a view? Thanks!

  • How do you put a UIWebView somewhere other than MainView.xib?

    - by Jack
Hello, I've been trying to put a UIWebView into my app, which is tableview based. When the user selects a row, I want the new xib to load, but this one with a UIWebView on it. From all of the tutorials I've seen, you can only put a UIWebView on the MainView.xib. Can someone please tell me how to put a FUNCTIONING UIWebView somewhere other than the main view? Thanks in advance!!

  • opening iWorks documents in iPad UIWebView

    - by user369156
Hello, I'm writing an iPad application that has a UIWebView which I open word and excel documents in, but I want the user to be able to import those documents into the iWorks applications, Pages and Numbers, just like how you can do it in Safari if you open a document. If you open a document in Safari on the iPad, there'll be a button on the top bar that says "Open in..." and you can choose applications to open in. You get the top bar to appear by tapping on middle of the page. So is there an option you can set to allow UIWebView to show up the bar and automatically detect the content type and populate the list with applications you can import in? Or do I have to build this myself? And if I have to build my own, how do I open URLs to import documents into Pages and Numbers etc? Thanks, -David

  • How to tell if a user updated my app or installed a new one

    - by user310318
I need a way to tell if the app being used by a user is a fresh new install (new user), or was a pre-existing user who updated. The previous app version did not track UDID's, and didn't save anything (it just ran as a simple app). Is there a way for an update to tell if the user previously installed the app? Even if that app didn't save anything into the documents folder, and the app didnt communicate with a server (UDID post)? (id like to be able to offer bonus features to my existing loyal users who had already installed the original app and updated) thanks!!

  • Conditional interface programming for iPad?

    - by Fyrian
Hi everyone! I'm working on an app for the iPad and am a little over my head with one issue. Is it possible to build an app for iPad that uses a function to control which interface layout is displayed? Something like "if these parameters are met, use XIB file "a" else use XIB file "b". I know that's not in any kind of legitimate format, but you get the idea. If this is possible, does anyone know of any tutorials on how to do it or sample code I could look at? Thanks!

  • Android: Prompt user to save changes when Back button is pressed

    - by chriskopec
I have an activity that contains several user editable items (an EditText field, RatingBar, etc). I'd like to prompt the user if the back/home button is pressed and changes have been made that have not yet been saved. After reading through the android documentation, it seems like this piece of code should go in the onPause method. I've tried putting an AlertDialog in the onPause however the dialog gets shown and then immediately tears down because nothing is there to block the pause from completing. This is what I've come up with so far: @Override protected void onPause() { super.onPause(); AlertDialog ad = new AlertDialog.Builder(this).setMessage( R.string.rating_exit_message).setTitle( R.string.rating_exit_title).setCancelable(false) .setPositiveButton(android.R.string.ok, new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int whichButton) { // User selects OK, save changes to db } }).setNeutralButton(android.R.string.cancel, new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int whichButton) { // User selects Cancel, discard all changes } }).show(); } Am I on the right track or is there another way to accomplish what I'm trying to do here? Any help would be great!

  • UISegmentedControl - how to toggle between 2 UITableViews

    - by embedded
I have a tab bar based application. What is the best way to toggle between 2 different UITableView views? Should I use a wrapper view and add those 2 views to it and depending on which segment was chosen I will show the correct view? Using only one tableView will not work because the layout is different between those 2 tableviews. Thanks

  • [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:path] doesn't work

    - by Felics
Hello, when I have the fallowing code to read a binary file: NSString* file = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:fileName]; NSString* filePath = resource ? [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:file ofType:nil] : [[NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) objectAtIndex:0] stringByAppendingPathComponent: file]; NSData* fileData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:filePath]; Where "fileName" and resource are load function parameters. "resource" is used to know if the file is located in application bundle or in Documents. Sometimes this code works well and sometimes it doesn't. As far I saw this problem is random. I can run the code 10 times in a row and it works fine and after that it gives me nil data without any modification. Does anybody knows what could be the problem? Could it be related with file extension or file name? Thank you. PS: I use this code on iPhone Simulator and the file exists in application bundle.

  • ScrollView with scrollViews - what is the right way to do it?

    - by hveveris
Hello! Client wants some tricky stuff and i don't really know where to start with it. The idea is that there is a horizontal scrollView whose each page consists of a vertical scrollView. For example, on the horizontal axis there are galleries, on the vertical we scroll through selected gallery's images. Is this even possible? I'd be very glad to hear comments on this one!

  • What's the best/easiest way to compare two times in Objective-C?

    - by Andy
I've got a string representation of a time, like "11:13 AM." This was produced using an NSDateFormatter and the stringFromDate: method. I'd like to compare this time to the current time, but when I use the dateFromString: method to turn the string back into a date, a year, month and day are added - which I don't want. I just need to know if right now is < or the time stored in the string. What's going to be the best way to handle that? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • TableView doesnt show any Data(CoreData) - App crashe

    - by brush51
Hey @all, i cant read my data from my database. I have an app with a tabbarcontroller. in the first tab the iphone camera takes a picture from a barcode and send the result to another view (CameraReturnDetailViewController). In CameraReturnDetailViewController is the savebutton, and here is the code from this save button: - (IBAction)saveAndQuitScan:(id) sender { XLog(@"saveAndQuitScan button wurde geklickt!"); ProjectQRCodeAppDelegate *appDelegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication]delegate]; NSManagedObjectContext *context = [appDelegate managedObjectContext]; NSManagedObject *newData; newData = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"BarcodeDaten" inManagedObjectContext:context]; [newData setValue:dataLabel.text forKey:@"Barcode_CD"]; NSError *error; [context save:&error]; //Aktuelle ansicht (self) animiert verlassen [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; // Nachdem die ansicht verlassen wurde, // auf das zweite Tab wechseln(scanverlauf) /** TO DO - Funktioniert noch nicht **/ [self.tabBarController setSelectedIndex:1]; } Now, my aim is to show the taba in the second tab, in a TableView (ScansViewController): - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; if (managedObjectContext_ == nil) { managedObjectContext_ = [(ProjectQRCodeAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication]delegate] managedObjectContext]; NSLog(@"After managedObjectContext: %@", managedObjectContext_); } myTableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame] style:UITableViewStylePlain]; myTableView.delegate = self; myTableView.dataSource = self; myTableView.autoresizesSubviews = YES; self.navigationItem.title = @"Code Liste"; self.view = myTableView; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return [itemsList count]; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } return cell; } - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 1; } - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSString *selectDay = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", indexPath.row]; TableDetailViewController *fvController = [[TableDetailViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"TableDetailViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; fvController.selectDay = selectDay; [self.navigationController pushViewController:fvController animated:YES]; [fvController release]; fvController = nil; } - (void) configureCell:(UITableViewCell *)cell atIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSManagedObject *managedObject = [self.fetchedResultsController objectAtIndexPath:indexPath]; cell.textLabel.text = [[managedObject valueForKey:@"Barcode_CD"] description]; } - (NSFetchedResultsController *) fetchedResultsController { if (fetchedResultsController_ !=nil) { return fetchedResultsController_; } NSFetchRequest *fetchRequest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"BarcodeDaten" inManagedObjectContext:self.managedObjectContext]; [fetchRequest setEntity:entity]; [fetchRequest setFetchBatchSize:20]; NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"Barcode_CD" ascending:NO]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [fetchRequest setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; NSFetchedResultsController *aFetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:self.managedObjectContext sectionNameKeyPath:nil cacheName:@"Root"]; aFetchedResultsController.delegate = self; self.fetchedResultsController = aFetchedResultsController; [aFetchedResultsController release]; [fetchRequest release]; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; NSError *error = nil; if (![fetchedResultsController_ performFetch:&error]) { XLog(@"Error: %@, %@", error, [error userInfo]); abort(); } return fetchedResultsController_; } At first i get this error when i choosed the second tab(ScansViewController): " Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: '+entityForName: could not locate an NSManagedObjectModel for entity name 'BarcodeDaten'' " The Name is correct but i dont understand my mistake. No data is showed in the Tableview, why? Have I missed something..? Or something wrong? Thanks for help, brush51

  • Generating an NSDictionary from an SQL statement.

    - by Ed Wist
I am trying to generate an NSDictonary that can be used to populate a listview with data I retrieved from an SQL statement. when I go to create an array and add them it adds the arrays for ALL my keys and not just for the current key. I've tried a removeAllObjects on the array but for some reason that destroys ALL my data that I already put in the dictionary. //open the database if(sqlite3_open([dbPath UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK) { const char *sql = "select alphaID, word from words order by word"; sqlite3_stmt *selectStatement; //prepare the select statement int returnValue = sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, sql, -1, &selectStatement, NULL); if(returnValue == SQLITE_OK) { NSMutableArray *NameArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; NSString *alphaTemp = [[NSString alloc] init]; //loop all the rows returned by the query. while(sqlite3_step(selectStatement) == SQLITE_ROW) { NSString *currentAlpha = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(selectStatement, 1)]; NSString *definitionName = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(selectStatement, 2)]; if (alphaTemp == nil){ alphaTemp = currentAlpha; } if ([alphaTemp isEqualToString:(NSString *)currentAlpha]) { [NameArray addObject:definitionName]; } else if (alphaTemp != (NSString *)currentAlpha) { [self.words setObject:NameArray forKey:currentAlpha]; [NameArray removeAllObjects]; [NameArray addObject:definitionName]; } } } The Statement above adds all the "keys" but then removes all the array elements for all keys. if I take out the removeAllKeys it adds ALL the array elements for ALL keys. I don't want this I want it to add the array elements FOR the specific key then move on to the next key. in the end I want a NSDictonary with A (array) Alpha (string) Apple (string) B (array) Beta (string) Ball (string) C (array) Code (string) ...
