  • Is there a Content Management System that allows multiple & independent blogs to be running on one domain?

    Hello Webmasters, I am a Wordpress fan, and I'm now building a new site and I'm not sure which CMS can achieve what I'm trying to do. I am building a food blog network for a bunch of cities in the US, and I want to my city pages to be independently running blogs themselves. So basically... Home Page - Its own blog with its own users, talking about Food in general Dallas Page (child of home page) - Its own blog with its own users Chicago Page ..... so on and so forth. The web layout and design will be all the same, but just trying to achieve 25~50 independent blogs on one domain. How can I achieve this? I'm hoping that I don't have to install Wordpress into as many subdomains that I create... Thank you for your help in advance. -RP

    Are pesticides really the link?  Or is it hereditary?  Pesticides in kids linked to ADHD http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37156010/ns/health-kids_and_parenting/ You’ve got to think this one through.  If the parents already have ADHD, and they buy fruits, don’t have the “patience” to wash the fruit, and the kids end up with larger detectible amounts of pesticides in their bodies – are the pesticides really the cause or is it hereditary? I say, switch the kids around for the real test – sure, let the kids go live at a parent’s house w/ out ADHD for 10 years [clearly I’m kidding] who then consciously chooses NOT to wash the fruit. I read this story and all I could think was that the parents already have ADHD and they end up not washing these fruits and vegetables

  • IE9 not rendering box-shadow Elements inside of Table Cells

    Ran into an annoying problem today with IE 9. Slowly updating some older sites with CSS 3 tags and for the most part IE9 does a reasonably decent job of working with the new CSS 3 features. Not all by a long shot but at least some of the more useful ones like border-radius and box-shadow are supported. Until today I was happy to see that IE supported box-shadow just fine, but I ran into a problem with some old markup that uses tables for its main layout sections. I found that inside of a table cell IE fails to render a box-shadow. Below are images from Chrome (left) and IE 9 (right) of the same content: The download and purchase images are rendered with: <a href="download.asp" style="display:block;margin: 10px;"><img src="../images/download.gif" class="boxshadow roundbox" /></a> where the .boxshadow and .roundbox styles look like this:.boxshadow { -moz-box-shadow: 3px 3px 5px #535353; -webkit-box-shadow: 3px 3px 5px #535353; box-shadow: 3px 3px 5px #535353; } .roundbox { -moz-border-radius: 6px 6px 6px 6px; -webkit-border-radius: 6px; border-radius: 6px 6px 6px 6px; } And the Problem is… collapsed Table Borders Now normally these two styles work just fine in IE 9 when applied to elements. But the box-shadow doesn't work inside of this markup - because the parent container is a table cell.<td class="sidebar" style="border-collapse: collapse"> … <a href="download.asp" style="display:block;margin: 10px;"><img src="../images/download.gif" class="boxshadow roundbox" /></a> …</td> This HTML causes the image to not show a shadow. In actuality I'm not styling inline, but as part of my browser Reset I have the following in my master .css file:table { border-collapse: collapse; border-spacing: 0; } which has the same effect as the inline style. border-collapse by default inherits from the parent and so the TD inherits from table and tr - so TD tags are effectively collapsed. You can check out a test document that demonstrates this behavior here in this CodePaste.net snippet or run it here. How to work around this Issue To get IE9 to render the shadows inside of the TD tag correctly, I can just change the style explicitly NOT to use border-collapse:<td class="sidebar" style="border-collapse: separate; border-width: 0;"> Or better yet (thanks to David's comment below), you can add the border-collapse: separate to the .boxshadow style like this:.boxshadow { -moz-box-shadow: 3px 3px 5px #535353; -webkit-box-shadow: 3px 3px 5px #535353; box-shadow: 3px 3px 5px #535353; border-collapse: separate; } With either of these approaches IE renders the shadows correctly. Do you really need border-collapse? Should you bother with border-collapse? I think so! Collapsed borders render flat as a single fat line if a border-width and border-color are assigned, while separated borders render a thin line with a bunch of weird white space around it or worse render a old skool 3D raised border which is terribly ugly as well. So as a matter of course in any app my browser Reset includes the above code to make sure all tables with borders render the same flat borders. As you probably know, IE has all sorts of rendering issues in tables and on backgrounds (opacity backgrounds or image backgrounds) most of which is caused by the way that IE internally uses ActiveX filters to apply these effects. Apparently collapsed borders are yet one more item that causes problems with rendering. There you have it. Another crappy failure in IE we have to check for now, just one more reason to hate Internet Explorer. Luckily this one has a reasonably easy workaround. I hope this helps out somebody and saves them the hour I spent trying to figure out what caused this problem in the first place.   • How to represent a tree structure in NoSQL

    I'm new to NoSQL and have been playing around with a personal project on the MEAN stack (Mongo ExpressJs AngularJs NodeJs). I'm building a document editor of sorts that manages nodes of data. Each document is actually a tree. I have a CRUD api for documents, to create new trees and a CRUD api for nodes in a given document. Right now the documents are represented as a collection that holds everything, including nodes. The children parent relationship is done by ids. So the nodes are an map by id, and each node has references to what nodes are their children. I chose this "flat" approach because it is easier to get a node by id from a document. Being used to having a relation table between nodes and documents, a relation table between nodes and children nodes I find it a bit weird that I have to save the entire "nodes" map each time I update a node. Is there a better way to represent such a data type in NoSQL?

  • Inserting multiple links to one image in Confluence

    I am setting up a Wiki in Confluence v3.5.1 I have added a visio diagram (JPG) to a page (this diagram will take up most of the page) - This diagram depicts the workflow between developers and support and clients. I envisage users being able to click on different parts of the diagram and it to open up child pages with more details about that particular process (with videos on 'how-to' do that specific task, like log issues in Jira) However, from what I can see, there is no way from the Confluence editor to add multiple links to the one image, right? I looked at Anchors, but this does not look like it will do the job. So, what is the best option? I remember Dreamweaver having these sorts of tools built in, and there appears to be other utilities that can help put in image map HTML tags, but I cannot see a way of easily editing the HTML in Confluence editor. Also worried about the headache this could cause with managing future changes of the page.

    Hello everyone, Although I don't think the question was as good as it could be, let me try to explain better here. I have a site using SMARTY 3 as the template system. I have a template structure similar to the below one: /templates/place1/inner_a.tpl /templates/place1/inner_b.tpl /templates/place2/inner_b.tpl /templates/place2/inner_c.tpl /templates/default/inner_a.tpl /templates/default/inner_b.tpl /templates/default/inner_c.tpl These are getting included on the parent template using {include file="{$temp_folder}/{$inner_template}"} So far great. What I wanted to do is having a default for, in the case that the file "{$temp_folder}/{$inner_template}" does not exists, it uses the equivalent file at "default/{$inner_template}". i.e. If I do {include file="place1/inner_c.tpl"}, since that file does not exists it in fact includes "default/inner_c.tpl" Is it possible?

  • cocos2d-x - object creation and management in game design

    How do others keep track of everything going on in their games? I am working on a new game and I am quickly realizing everything that I need to keep track of. Example: Maybe a layerManager that keeps track of all the layers and what is happening for a particular scene. Maybe a sceneManager for sharing objects among scenes But then getting to game play itself, what if you have 100 objects on the screen each with its own state and happenings, there needs tobe a way to keep track of all of that. Drawing everything out is really helping me. Can anyone share with me how they go about object tracking/management? I am seeing a few different managers and then maybe even a parent object that manages the managers..is my thinking way off? Any design patterns that may be useful for me to read about? Update: doing some reading and maybe a Factory pattern might apply.

  • How to opendns with dynamic ip

    OpenDNS is almost completely useless with a dynamic ip and most people have dynamic ip addresses. There isn't even a decent client for Linux to update your IP. There is a script you can install but it only seems to update on startup and all my child needs to do is unplug and replug the cable from the wall or router and a new ip is created totally killing the opendns service . I'm not even sure the Mac or windows ip update clients can protect from such a simple maneuver . How can I get my ip address to constantly update with opendns, is my question.

  • Slideshows in elastic or fluid layouts?

    Hi folks, I'm building a new WordPress TwentyTen child theme using the ElastiCSS framework ( http://elasticss.com/ ) and am trying to figure out the best way of using some sort of dynamic content slideshow. What is the best way to implement a slideshow in a fluid or elastic layout such that it remains proportional to the other items in the content area? Should I even bother trying to obtain that? Or should I use like four different sizes in conjunction with something like the Less framework ( http://lessframework.com/ )? Thanks! (BTW, I've posted here because this was more of a "what's the best option" question than a "How do I program that?" question. If you think it would be more appropriate on SO, please move it there.)

  • Is there a difference between "." and "source" in bash, after all?

    I was looking for the difference between the "." and "source" builtin commands and a few sources (e.g., in this discussion, and the bash manpage) suggest that these are just the same. However, following a problem with environment variables, I conducted a test. I created a file testenv.sh that contains: #!/bin/bash echo $MY_VAR In the command prompt, I performed the following: > chmod +x testenv.sh > MY_VAR=12345 > ./testenv.sh > source testenv.sh 12345 > MY_VAR=12345 ./testenv.sh 12345 [note that the 1st form returned an empty string] So, this little experiment suggests that there is a difference after all, where for the "source" command, the child environment inherits all the variables from the parent one, where for the "." it does not. Am I missing something, or is this is an undocumented/deprecated feature of bash? [ GNU bash, version 4.1.5(1)-release (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu) ]

  • What could be causing this long waiting time on page load?

    What could be causing a 1.18s wait time when my page loads? Just to make sure I did not have any conflicting or parallel scripts loading, I completely deleted all the script on my home page and ran the speed test again. Although I had a blank website and 5kb file size, there was still a 900ms "waiting" time. I'm wondering if it could be my server? Any other thoughts or suggestions as it doesn't seem to be scripts. EDIT - Just ran a DNS test on pingdom and here are my results. Does this tell me anything? No nameservers found at child?

    I have a non-binary tree. I want to find all "sub-trees" that are connected to root. Sub-tree is a a link group of tree nodes. every group is colored in it's own color. What would be be the best approach? Run recursion down and up for every node? The data structure of every treenode is a list of children, list of parents. (the type of children and parents are treenodes) Clarification: Group defined if there is a kind of "closure" between nodes where root itself is not part of the closure. As you can see from the graph you can't travel from pink to other nodes (you CAN NOT use root). From brown node you can travel to it's child so this form another group. Finally you can travel from any cyan node to other cyan nodes so the form another group

  • Using Event Driven Programming in games, when is it beneficial?

    I am learning ActionScript 3 and I see the Event flow adheres to the W3C recommendations. From what I learned events can only be captured by the dispatcher unless, the listener capturing the event is a DisplayObject on stage and a parent of the object firing the event. You can capture the events in the capture(before) or bubbling(after) phase depending on Listner and Event setup you use. Does this system lend itself well for game programming? When is this system useful? Could you give an example of a case where using events is a lot better than going without them? Are they somehow better for performance in games? Please do not mention events you must use to get a game running, like Event.ENTER_FRAME Or events that are required to get input from the user like, KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN and MouseEvent.CLICK. I am asking if there is any use in firing events that have nothing to do with user input, frame rendering and the likes(that are necessary). I am referring to cases where objects are communicating. Is this used to avoid storing a collection of objects that are on the stage?   • BPM 11g - Dynamic Task Assignment with Multi-level Organization Units

    I've seen several requirements to have a more granular level of task assignment in BPM 11g based on some value in the data passed to the process. Parametric Roles is normally the first port of call to try to satisfy this requirement, but in this blog we will show how a lot of use-cases can be satisfied by the easier to implement and flexible Organization Unit. The Use-Case Task assignment is to an approval group containing several users. At runtime, a location value in the input data determines which of the particular users the task is ultimately assigned to. In this case we use the Demo Community referenced in the SOA Admin Guide, and specifically the "LoanAnalyticGroup" which contains three users; "szweig", "mmitch" & "fkafka". In our scenario we would like to assign a task to "szweig" if the input data specifies that the location is "JapanCentral", to "fkafka" if the location is "JapanNorth" and to "mmitch" if "JapanSouth", and to all of them if the location is "Japan" i.e....   The Process Simple one human task process.... In the output data association of the "Start" activity we need to set the value of the "Organization Unit" predefined variable based on the input data (note that the  predefined variables can only be set on output data associations)....  ...and in the output data association of the human activity we will reset the "Organization Unit" to empty, always good practice to ensure that the Organization Unit will not be used for any subsequent human activities for which we do not require it.... Set Up the Organization Unit  Log in to the BPM Workspace with an administrator user (weblogic/welcome1 in our case) and choose the "Administration" option. Within "Roles" assign the "ProcessOwner" swim-lane for our process to "LoanAnalyticGroup".... Within "Organization Units" we can model our organization.... "Root Organization Unit" as "Japan" and "Child Organization Unit" as "Central", "South" & "North" as shown. As described previously, add user "szweig" to "Central", "mmitch" to "South" and "fkafka" to "North"....   Test the Process Invalid Data  First let us test with invalid data in the input to see what the consequences are, here we use "X" as input.... ...and looking at the instance we can see it has errored.... Organization Unit Root Level Assignment  Now let us see what happens if we have "Japan" in the input data.... ...looking in the "flow trace" we can see that the task has been assigned....  ... but who has the task been assigned to ? Let us look in the BPM Workspace for user "szweig"....  ...and for "mmitch"....  ... and for "fkafka"....  ...so we can see that with an Organization Unit at "Root" level we have successfully assigned the task to all users. Organization Unit Child Level Assignment  Now let us test with "Japan/North" in the input data.... ...and looking in "fkafka" workspace we see the task has been assigned, remember, he was associated with "JapanNorth"....   ... but what about the workspace of "szweig"....  ...no tasks assigned, neither has "mmitch", just as we expected. Summary  We have seen in this blog how to easily implement multi-level dynamic task routing using Organization Units, a common use-case and a simpler solution than Parametric Roles.

  • Should Site Title be Before or After Page Title?

    Possible Duplicate: Does the order of keywords matter in a page title? Apologies if this is a dupe. I tried searching, but didn't find anything specifically addressing this concern. When creating a large(ish) site, page titles usually reference both the site name and the current page name. However, it seems there are two main conventions: Bob's Awesome Site - Contact Page and Contact Page - Bob's Awesome Site I've looked around, and pages usually use one of the two variants above. Is there any reason to use one over the other? SEO/readability/usability/etc? I've thought about it, and have only come up with: Page first - Differentiates the tab when the browser is crowded with lots of tabs Site first - Immediately see the "parent" site, so to speak; more cohesive experience

  • Why does this script not open parallel gnome-terminals on a server?

    Why am I not able to have parallel gnome-terminals on my server while I can on my client. Here is a test that illustrates the problem. #!/bin/bash # this is the parent script gnome-terminal --command "./left.sh" sleep 10 gnome-terminal --command "./right.sh" #!/bin/bash echo "this is the left script" read -p "press any key to close this terminal" key #!/bin/bash echo "this is the right script" read -p "press any key to close this terminal" key When I run this on a regular ubuntu desktop (maverick) I see two terminals after 10 seconds. When I run this on a maverick server at a server farm, the second window does not appear until after I close the first one and wait 10 seconds. I am using tightvncserver to view the server desktop. (I could have simplified a bit more. The 10 second sleep is extraneous to the problem. In my real world application I need the first terminal to do some real work before starting the second. The problem probably still exists even if there is no sleep.)

    I have the following classes: Teacher Student Class (like a school class) They all extend from KObject that has the following code: - initWithKey - send - processKey Teacher, Student Class all use the functions processKey and initWithKey from KObject parent class. They implement their own version of send. The problem I have is that KObject should not be instantiated ever. It is more like an abstract class, but there is no abstract class concept in objective-c. It is only useful for allowing subclasses to have access to one property and two functions. What can I do so that KObject cannot be instantiated but still allow subclasses to have access to the functions and properties of KObject?

I have an ASP.NET web app that reference jQuery in the master page, and in every child page can reference other library or JavaScript extension. I would like to optimize the application with YUI for .NET. The question is, I should put all the libraries reference in the master page or to compress all the JavaScript code in a single file, or I should create a file for every page that contains only the code useful to the page? Is there any guidance to follow? Thanks!
