    What I am confused on is about the isNumPalindrome() function. It returns a boolean value of either true or false. How am I suppose to use that so I can display if it's a palindrome or not.   • What is a valid use for Response.Redirect("SomeURL", false) ?

    In ASP.NET I frequently use Response.Redirect to redirect the end user to another page on my system. I always set the second parameter to true to immediately end the response. For the life of me, I can't think of a reason why anybody would ever set that parameter to true. What's the point of continuing generating a page when the end user's browser is just going to be redirected to a different page immediately?

On every other test I have done, integer 1 is converted to boolean true and 0 to false. Works ok if I just set rtnValue to 1 or 0.     Hi, I have this code that works just fine on the development server but when I deploy the application, the session isn't created. What am I doing wrong? HttpSession session = req.getSession(true); session.setAttribute("loggedIn", new String("true")); Edit: The sessions are enabled. What I realized now is that the _ah_SESSION variable is not being created, not even on the development server (although it works).

    Is there any pitfalls when using char*'s to write cross platform code that does memory access? I'm working on a play memory allocator to better understand how to debug memmory issues. I have come to believe char*'s are preferable because of the ability to do pointer arithmetic and derefernce them over void*'s, is that true?   • Why does Convert.ToBoolean("0") fail?

    I know that trying to convert string "0" to boolean will fail, I also know how to fix this, thanks to Jon Skeets answers on other questions. What I would like to know is WHY does C# not recognize "0" as a valid input for a boolean conversion, surely you could look at it like 0 = false, 1 = true, or even -1 = false and 0 = true, anyways, my logic tells me that it could be a valid input, so is there a very good reason why its not? My bet is old vb6 would be able to recognize the string input "0" as valid.

    lets say i want to test if the first letter in cell A1 is an "A" =Mid(A1, 1, 1)="A" Now lets say i want to find out if either the first and fourth letters in cell A1 is an "A" I would of thought you could something like this: =Mid(A1, or(1,4), 1)="A" Instead of having to do this: =IF(MID(A1,1,1)="A",TRUE,IF(MID(A!,4,1)="A",TRUE,FALSE)) Am i on the right track?   • Should I be wary of signing a non-disclosure agreement with someone I just met?

    tl;dr: Some guy I just met says he wants me to join his company. Before he shows me what they do, he wants me to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Is this weird? I'm traveling right now. Someone who saw me coding seemed to think I was smart or something and started talking with me. He explained that he owns a software company, told me a bit about what it does and told me that he was looking for a programmer who would work for a stake in the company. He explained that the company's product is being developed rather secretly, so he couldn't tell me much. But he did tell enough about the product to convince me that he's not completely making this up, which is a decent baseline. He suggested that he show me more of what he's been working on and, after seeing that, I decide whether I want to join. Because of the secrecy behind the product, he wants me to sign a non-disclosure agreement before we talk. I'm obviously somewhat skeptical because of the random nature by which we met. In the short term, I'm wondering if I should be wary of signing such an agreement. He said it would be easier to show me the product in person rather than over the internet, and I'm leaving town tomorrow, so I'd have to figure this out by tomorrow. If I decide to talk with him, I could decide later whether I trust that it's worth spending any time on this company. The concept of being able to avoid telling a secret seems strange to me for the same reason that things like certain aspects of copyright seem strange. Should I be wary of signing a non-disclosure agreement? Is this common practice? I don't know the details of the agreement of which he was thinking, (If I end up meeting with him, I'll of course read over the agreement before I decide whether to sign it.) so I could consider alternatives according to the aspects of the agreement. Or I could just consider the case of an especially harsh agreement. This question seems vaguely related. Do we need a non-disclosure agreement (NDA)? Thanks

    Can you help me further this investigation? Here is about 10% of the work I have done on it. I present it only to see if there are any truly curious people among you. I made a video a few weeks ago showing some strange things about the Governor General's Coat of Arms and the binary on it. Today, I noticed something kinda cool and thought I would share. Here is the binary as it appears on the COA: 110010111001001010100100111010011 As DEC: 6830770643 (this is easily found on the web) Take a close look at that number. What do you notice about it? It has a few interesting features, but here is the one no one has pointed out... Split it down the middle and you have 68307 70643. The first digit is double the value of the last digit. The second digit is double the second last digit. The third digit is half of the third to last digit. And the middle ones are even or neutral. At first, I thought of it as energy. ++-nnnn+-- But actually you can create something else with it using the values. 221000211. See how that works. You may be asking why that is significant. Bare with me. I know 99% are rolling their eyes. 221000211 as base3 gives you this as binary: 100011101000111 100011101000111 as HEX is 4747, which converts to "GG". Initials of Governor General. GG.ca is his website. When you convert to base 33 (there are 33 digits in the original code) you get "GOV" Interesting? :D There is a lot more to it. I'll continue to show some strange coincidences if anyone is interested. Sorry if I am not explaining this correctly. By now you have probably figured out that I have no background in this. Which is why I am here. Thank you.
