  • Asp.NET MVC Areas

    So we finally got "areas" in our ASP.NET MVC framework! I'm able to get them up and going but one thing that bothers me is the amount of development servers it instantiates! So I currently have 6 areas, and when I run it I get 6 dev server instances running. Is this really necessary? MSDN is having me setup these areas as seperate web apps, couldn't we get these down into class libraries somehow?

    I am trying to generate a url but I keep getting a strange warning even though it works.     Hi all, I know a lot so far about this exception. But I am wondering, if any of you tried to use AdWords API on GAE. AdWords uses Axis as underlying WS library, which do not work on GAE and unfortunately I cannot find solution to make it working. I tried already this: http://dev.bizo.com/2009/04/calling-soap-web-services-on-google-app.html Does any of you know if there is a way to use AdWords API on GAE with Java?   • Simulate network failure on Android

    I've noticed when I switch from wifi to 3g on my Android phone that HTTP connections get killed. I'd like to simulate this error in an emulator for testing. Changing network speeds doesn't work, nor does turning on airplane mode (I've tried this on a 1.5 and a 2.1 AVD). Any ideas? I'm currently doing this by running my conns through Fiddler and manually killing them, but it would be nice to use something built into the Android dev system. Thanks

If this exists, let call it rate-limit, I want to be able to type in a terminal something like cat /dev/urandom | rate-limit 3 -k | foo in order to send a a stream of random bytes to foo's standard input at a rate (lower than) 3 kbytes/s.

    Hi there, Trying to set-up GIT Server on my local dev machine and have been following this website so far but am a little stuck when trying to clone a repository. In GIT Bash, here's my output: $ git clone ssh://[email protected]:4837/ssh/home/Administrator/project1.git Initialized empty Git repository in C:/Git/project1/.git/ Permission denied (publickey,keyboard-interactive). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly Any suggestions on why I would be getting a 'Permission denied (publickey,keyboard-interactive)' error?   • Oracle TNS names not showing when adding new connection to sqldeveloper

    Hello, I'm trying to connect to an oracle database with sqldeveloper. I've installed the .Net oracle drivers and placed the tnsnames.ora file at C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\client_1\Network\Admin. I'm using the following format in tnsnames.ora. dev = (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.XXX.XXX)(PORT = XXXX)) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME = idpdev2) ) ) In sqldeveloper, when I try to create a new connection, no tns names show up as options. Is there something I'm missing?

    I'm looking for a Java library to help parse user entered text that represents an 'appointment' for a calendar application. For instance: Lunch with Mike at 11:30 on Tuesday or 5pm Happy hour on Friday I've found some promising leads like https://jchronic.dev.java.net/ and http://www.datejs.com/ which can parse dates - but I also need to be able to extract the title of the event like "Lunch with Mike". If such an API doesn't exist, I'm also interested in any thoughts on how best to approach the problem from a coding perspective.

    Recently C Michael Pilato of the core subversion team posted a mail to the subversion dev mailing list suggesting a vision and roadmap for the future of Subversion. Naturally, he wanted as much feedback and response as possible which is why I'm posting this here - to elicit some suggestions and contributions from you, the users of Subversion. Any comments are welcome, and I shall feedback a synopsis with a link to this question to the dev mailing list. Similarly, I've created a post on ServerFault to get feedback from the administator side of things too. So, without further ado: Vision The first thing on his "vision statement" is: Subversion has no future as a DVCS tool. Let's just get that out there. At least two very successful such tools exist already, and to squeeze another horse into that race would be a poor investment of energy and talent. There's no need to suggest distributed features for subversion. If you want a DVCS, there should be no ill-feeling if you migrate to Git, Mercurial or Bazaar. As he says, its pointless trying to make SVN like them when they already exist, especially when there are different usage patterns that SVN should be targetting. The vision for Subversion is: Subversion exists to be universally recognized and adopted as an open-source, centralized version control system characterized by its reliability as a safe haven for valuable data; the simplicity of its model and usage; and its ability to support the needs of a wide variety of users and projects, from individuals to large-scale enterprise operations. Roadmap Several ideas were suggested as being "very nice to have" and are offered as the starting point of a future roadmap. These are: Obliterate Shelve/Checkpoint Repository-dictated Configuration Rename Tracking Improved Merging Improved Tree Conflict Handling Enterprise Authentication Mechanisms Forward History Searching Log Message Templates If anyone has suggestions to add, or comments on these, the subversion community would welcome all of them. Community And lastly, there was a call for more people to become involved with Subversion development. As with most OSS projects it can be daunting to join, but there is now a push for more to be done to help. If you feel like you can contribute, please do so.

    I am attempting to set up NCover for usage in my FinalBuilder project, for a .NET 4.0 C# project, but my final coverage output file contains no coverage data. I am using: NCover 3.3.2 NUnit 2.5.4 FinalBuilder 6.3.0.2004 All tools are the latest official as of today. I've finally managed to coax FB into running my unit tests under NCover for the .NET 4.0 project, so I get Tests run: 184, ..., which is correct.   • Oracle 9i Session Disconnections

    [Cross-Posting from ServerFault] I am in a development environment, and our test Oracle 9i server has been misbehaving for a few days now. What happens is that we have our JDBC connections disconnecting after a few successful connections. We got this box set up by our IT department and handed over to. It is 'our problem', so options like 'ask you DBA' isn't going to help me. :( Our server is set up with 3 plain databases (one is the main dev db, the other is the 'experimental' dev db). We use the Oracle 10 ojdbc14.jar thin JDBC driver (because of some bug in the version 9 of the driver). We're using Hibernate to talk to the DB. The only thing that I can see that changed is that we now have more users connecting to the server. Instead of one developer, we now have 3. With the Hibernate connection pools, I'm thinking that maybe we're hitting some limit? Anyone has any idea what's going on?   • What is the best way to set a database entry so that it expires after n hours using Ruby/Rails?

    My app has a token model as such: class Token < ActiveRecord::Base # The model include a few attributes including created_at end I want entries linked to this model to expire after 6 hours, meaning that they should get automatically deleted. I know that I could set a cronjob or something similar to do this, but isn't there a better/simpler way? Note: I'm using Rails 3.0.0beta3, mysql (in dev) and postgres (in prod)
