• CakePHP: find neighbors, order on 'name' or 'order'

  Hi, I have a list of ordered items, ordered according to the int field order. I'm creating a gallery in CakePHP 1.2 that has a prev and next button and those should link to the previous and next item according to their ordering, not according to their id. In order to get this result I've included the 'order' parameter to the find function, and populated it with 'Item.order'=>'DESC'. Still the result is an id ordered list. My question is: what do I do wrong? My controller: $this->Item->id = 16; $neighbours = $this->Item->find('neighbors', array('order'=>array('Item.order'=>'DESC'), 'fields'=>array('id','name')));

• Reading custom values in Ebay RSS feed (XML::RSS module)

  I've spent entirely way too long trying to figure this out. I'm using XML:RSS and Perl to read / parse an Ebay RSS feed. Within the area, I see these entries: 1395 1255 However, I can't figure out how to grab the details during the loop. I wrote a regex to grab them: @current_price = $item =~ m/\(\d+)\<\/rx\:CurrentPrice/g; which works if you place the above 'CurrentPrice' entry into a standalone string, but not while the script is reading through the RSS feed. I can grab most of the information I want out of the item-description area (# bids, auction end time, BIN price, thumbnail image, etc), but it would be nicer if I could grab the info from the feed without me having to deal with grabbing all that information manually. If anybody knows how to grab custom fields from an RSS feed (short of writing regexes to parse the entire feed w/o a module), any help / insight would be appreciated.

  I have a form(C#) with a tab control and its has around five tab pages. each of the tab have a few textboxes. 1) if a User is in say Tab A and edits certain fields i need to validate the text enetered if found invalid then i should not allow any tab switch ? is that possible? 2) Another case could be ... user edits some values and clicks on another tab, on doing so i need to check if the values that were enetered for Tab A is correct or not ? can i do this? I am a novice to C#... so may be these questions sound very basic any help will be appreciated. also i want to know what are these events of a tab page Leave, validated or validating ?

I have two database tables with thousands of data.. a table for "skills" and a table for "skills categories" every "skill" belongs to a skills categorie. a "skill" is , physicaly, a varchar(200) field in the database, where there is some text describing the skill. • Performing both client side and server side validation using jQuery and CodeIgniter

  What is the right way of doing both client side and server side validation using jQuery and CodeIgniter? I am using the jQuery form plugin for form submit. I would like to use jQuery validation plugin (http://docs.jquery.com/Plugins/Validation) for client side validation and CodeIgniter form validation on the server side. However the two don't seem to gel together (or I am unable to get my head around it). Can someone help please? Whether its a client side validation or server side validation, the user should see consistent UI displaying error messages next to the input fields.

  I'm testing my site with Google PageSpeed and YSlow and the bundles that i've created with MVC4 bundles aren't getting Gzipped (Compressing resources with gzip or deflate can reduce the number of bytes sent over the network) and there is no Vary: Accept-Encoding header (Instructs proxy servers to cache two versions of the resource: one compressed, and one uncompressed. This helps avoid issues with public proxies that do not detect the presence of a Content-Encoding header properly.) And also how can i add encoding header for the whole scripts folder on the ISS. I know there is HTTP Response Headers, then Add Custom HTTP Response Header, but will this work on the whole scripts folders and subfolders and what to put in the Name and Value fields. I need to do this in my model, vs using a ModelForm. If there is another way to do it (while still in clean()), I'm completely open to any suggestions.

I thought that changing the #name property from 'op' to 'searchwiki' would prevent this kind of mix-up, but not so. Does anyone know a workaround for this?

• JAXB: @XmlTransient on third-party or external super class

  Hi, I need some help regarding the following issue with JAXB 2.1. Sample: I've created a SpecialPerson class that extends a abstract class Person. Now I want to transform my object structure into a XML schema using JAXB. Thereby I don't want the Person XML type to appear in my XML schema to keep the schema simple. Instead I want the fields of the Person class to appear in the SpecialPerson XML type. Normally I would add the annotation @XmlTransient on class level into the Person code. The problem is that Person is a third-party class and I have no possibility to add @XmlTransient here. How can I tell JAXB that it should ignore the Person class without annotating the class. Is it possible to configure this externally somehow? Have you had the same problem before? Any ideas what the best solution for this problem would be?

• Drupal Views Multiple values being returned when using a relationship

  I am having a problem with views. I have a view and am passing it a taxonomy term by name to it. I then have a relationship to a related node. For my output fields I am returning the related Title and related Body. I however have duplicates in my results. I have turned distinct to yes but believe this is working on the nodes being return and not the related node. Any ideas how I can remove the duplicates?

• Removing non-alphanumeric characters in an Access Field.

  I need to remove hyphens from a string in a large number of access fields. What's the best way to go about doing this? Currently, the entries are follow this general format: 2010-54-1 2010-56-1 etc. I'm trying to run append queries off of this field, but I'm always getting validation errors causing the query to fail. I think the cause of this failure is the hypens in the entries, which is why I need to remove them. I've googled, and I see that there are a number of formatting guides using vbscript, but I'm not sure how I can integrate vb into Access. It's new to me :) Thanks in advance, Jacques

• Use sed to replace first 8 and last 4 pipes on every line in a file

  Here's the situation, I have a text file that is pipe-delimited and one of fields contains pipe characters. I already have a sed script that will change it to be tab-delimited, but the problem is it's terribly slow. It will replace the first occurrence of a pipe 8 times, then replace the last occurrence of a pipe 4 times. I'm hoping there's a quicker way to do what I need. Any thoughts would be appreciated.   Hello, My problem is the following: I'm using client validation function of the MVC 2.0 framework. Everything is nice, when I use the validation in a simple form. But when I use an Ajax form, and I update the fields of the ajax form. After the client validation dosen't work. Exactly: the ajax postback is not fired, but the validation message is not shown. I think about, I have to refresh the validation after the ajax call but I dont know how I should do it. Anybody can help me?

• Pros/Cons of document based database vs relational database

  I've been trying to see if I can accomplish some requirements with a document based database, in this case CouchDB. Two generic requirements: CRUD of entities with some fields which have unique index on it ecommerce web app like eBay (better description here). And I'm begining to think that a Document-based database isn't the best choice to address these requirements. Furthermore, I can´t imagine a use for a Document based database (maybe my imagination is too little). Can you explain me if I am asking pears to an elm when I try to use a Document based database for this requirements?

• Combining a one-to-one relationship into one object in Fluent NHibernate

  I have a one-to-one relationship in my database, and I'd like to just combine that into one object in Fluent NHibernate. The specific tables I am talking about are the aspnet_Users and aspnet_Membership tables from the default ASP.NET Membership implementation. I'd like to combine those into one simple User object and only get the fields I want. I would also like to make this read-only, as I want to use the built-in ASP.NET Membership API to modify. I simply want to take advantage of lazy-loading. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

• tabIndex fails in an AS3 swf loaded into a flex app

  I feel like I'm missing something really simple here. I'm loading a AS3 swf containing a form (created by one of our designers) into a flex app. The swf's tabIndex properties work fine when the swf is viewed by itself, however, once it's loaded into the flex app: <mx:SWFLoader source="form.swf" top="20" horizontalCenter="0" id="formSwf" complete="swfCompleteHandler(event)"/> the form fields stop receiving focus on tab. I've been looking at the FocusManager in flex, for some sort of solution, but I can't seem to find any examples, and I'm not entirely sure I'm looking in the right place. Am I stuck redoing this form in flex?

• Winforms - a strange problem a with simple binding

  Hi Guys, It's hard for me to clearly describe my problem but I'll try. I have a UserControl1 which contains UserControl2 which contains several WinForms controls (most of them DevExpress). I do simple binding to these controls to my datatable fields. So far everything works fine. When I move the focus to a record in the table (by navigating in a grid rows for example) the binding works great, the concurrenmcy manager moves the cursor and everything reflects right in the bounded controls. The problem starts when I add new user UserControl3 above UserControl2 and make UserControl2.Visible = false. Now UserControl3 is shown and UserControl2 exists but not shown. Now when I set UserControl2.Visible = true to show it again the simple binding stops working! I navigate in the grid but either the ConcurrencyManager stops working or the simple binding becomes disconnected. My question: Are there any known issues/ best practices with the binding & concurrency manager? Thanks a lot, Adi Barda
