    Hi, I'm having trouble sending mail using PHP mail() on IIS 7 using Windows 2008 Server. The server is dedicated, thus I have full control over my machine. php.ini looks fine - ([mail function] is configured) I don't get any error from mail() (with the right parameters of course) btw - I got ASP and ASP.NET sending mails without any problems.     I'm trying to implement the Variable envelope return path (VERP) method to manage email addresses (ie when an email I send bounces back I want it to be sent to a specific email address so that I can update my database to avoid sending emails to that email address in the future). According to this article it is possible to specify the email address a bounce email is sent to. How do you do this in .Net? For example say I ([email protected]) want to send an email to you ([email protected]). If [email protected] doesn't exist anymore I want yourserver to send the bounce email to [email protected]). This way when I receive this bounced email I know that [email protected] is not a valid email address anymore and I can update my database accordingly. In this example, the bounce address would be: [email protected] How do you specify it using System.Net.Mail?

Thats the thing, i want to open the default mail program compose window with some data but i also need to add a file as attachment, and that file must be a screen capture of the app. Im doing some research and cant find nothing even close to this, someone have any ideas?     Hello, Because the IP of the SMTP server that is being used by my Gridserver account at Mediatemple is blacklisted I'm looking for an off site SMTP service to send mails from my PHP application to (verification mails, notifications, etc). I'm using CampaignMonitor.com for mass mailings, but for all other mails I would like to use another service. I've checked out smtp.com and smtp-server.com which look okay, but maybe there are better out there? A reporting feature for undeliverables are a huge plus!

    One of my clients uses Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security to protect their internal mail services. Suddenly InterScan decided to filter out all messages coming from Google App Engine. Unfortunately they haven't been able to whitelist the sender address as each e-mail gets a different one. For example, *3ckihSOVMMHlZHSL.JSMMHlZHSL.JS*@apphosting.bounces.google.com, with everything before the @ being variable. Update I'm including this screenshot of how Interscan sees the incoming e-mail. Notice that all senders are different: If I look into the e-mail headers, the apphosting domain appears inside the Return-Path field: Return-Path: <36kSiSwYIBh0883XL3E7.5EH883XL3E7.5E@apphosting.bounces.google.com> The "From" field looks ok. It says what I set it to say, but the spam filter only looks at the Return-Path. My client sysadmin doesn't want to whitelist the whole apphosting domain, as it wouldn't be only whitelisting my application. How could I bypass this e-mail filters if I can't get an unique sender?     I have to code an app that at some point in time will have to send some reports using Lotus Notes. My questions are : Can I send mail through the Lotus Notes client, or something related to Lotus Notes ( a command line tool maybe? )? If so, where could I find information related to this? I would prefer not having to do it in C/C++, but if no other options' present, that would do. How can I find out the server's address? The GUI is not intuitive, and I can't find the server address. The server's located on another computer on the network.

    Thanks to Col. Shrapnel I am using a VERY basic PHP script to send emails. The form is located here. I want to edit the code to display a javascript alert, instead of a redirect. I don't have much PHP knowledge, so how would I edit this code to return a alert instead of a redirect?

    If I want to send mail not via SMTP, but rather via sendmail, is there a library for python that encapsulates this process? Better yet, is there a good library that abstracts the whole 'sendmail -versus- smtp' choice? I'll be running this script on a bunch of unix hosts, only some of which are listening on localhost:25; a few of these are part of embedded systems and can't be set up to accept SMTP. As part of Good Practice, I'd really like to have the library take care of header injection vulnerabilities itself -- so just dumping a string to popen('/usr/bin/sendmail', 'w') is a little closer to the metal than I'd like. If the answer is 'go write a library,' so be it ;-)

I have figured out how to use UTF-8 for the body, subject line, and generic headers, but I am still stuck on the recipients. Here's what I'd like in the "To:" field: "????????????" <[email protected]>.   • Best practice to send secure information over e-mail?

    I have to send sensitive information (name, address, social security number etc.) collected from a website, that has been entered by a user, to an e-mail address. What is the best course of action to make the information secure and easy to extract on the receiver side? Edit: I will be using ASP.NET for the website, not sure what it has for capabilities on this matter. Edit: If I decide to store the information in a database and just send a mail when a new entry has been made, would this be better? And create some secure way to dump the information instead.
