• Make environment variables available when running command as sudo

  I am using Curl, and am having a problem trying to get it to recognize the $http_proxy environment variable when using sudo curl. I tried putting export http_proxy=.... in my /etc/profile and restarting the shell, to no avail. I would rather not use su -l and run the command while logged in as root.

What is the best way to find any deleted files, and zero them out, so that when I export the appliance the disk size is only existing files on the disk?

  I've used The Dude to map my network, but I can only export the network map as a graphics file. I've also used Dia and Vision to manually diagram portions of my network. Does anyone out there have a solution where I can do automatic network mapping using a tool like "The Dude", then pull that file over to a manually editable format for cleaning up and/or enhancing in Visio or Dia?

  How can I setup an nginx proxy_pass directive that will also include HTTP Basic authentication information sent to the proxy host? This is an example of the URL I need to proxy to: http://username:[email protected]/export?uuid=1234567890 The end goal is to allow 1 server present files from another server (the one we're proxying to) without exposing the URI of the proxy server. I have this working 90% correct now from following the Nginx config found here: http://kovyrin.net/2010/07/24/nginx-fu-x-accel-redirect-remote/ I just need to add in the HTTP Basic authentication to send to the proxy server

• Cinema4D XML scene not rendering texture

  I exported a basic Cinema4D scene as XML (File Export Cinema 4D XML) then opened up the xml in Cinema4D and it looses the reference to the texture applied. If I open up the original c4d file and render it I can see my texture applied. If I open up the exported xml file and render it the texture is missing. Any way to get around that ?

• Server 2003 SP2 BSOD caused by fltmgr.sys

  I'm running into a problem where a Server 2003 SP2 box has started crashing roughly once an hour, BSODing out with the message that fltmgr.sys is probably the cause. I ran dumpchk.exe on the memory.dmp file, indicating the same thing. Any thoughts on typical root causes?   I am trying to edit a clip in GarageBand which only results in a 2 second clip. However, GarageBand insists on appending an extra 4 seconds of "dead air" when I export. The full length clip isn't even 6 seconds. What gives?

If I export it to Excel I can tinker around with the results but I would rather that I change the actual report than have users manually change it. • Explode all folders

  Ive got a folder with about a hundred sub folders and again each ones of those has between 10 and 20 sub folders, so all in all a pretty large folder tree. Is there a simple way i can explode or export all of the files in the tree to a new folder which will just be one folder contain the files (no folders, no trees). Im running OSX 10.8, although ive also got Parallels so if there is a windows solution i could just run that as its not something i need to do everyday.

  I'm using the EXPORT feature in Hyper-V to move a large Virtual Machine (VM) over a 1GB network from a Windows 2008 to a Windows 2008 R2 box (200GB) and its so intense that I get the following icon on my destination Hyper-V manager: Is this expected? Is there another way to get large file across the network and minimize this intense I/O effect? Anyones else ever seen that Do Not Enter sign? The other VMs are functional but slow, but I'm guessing that is expected.

  I want to pull in data using a XML::XPath parser from a XML DB file from the Worldbank site. The problem is that I'm not seeing any results in the output. I must be missing something in the code. Ideally, I would like to extract just the death rate statistics from each country XML DB (year and value). • How to show command history with executed time on Unix

  I tried export HISTTIMEFORMAT='%D %T' but it seems the time stamp of commands executed before I set HISTTIMEFORMAT will be the time I logged in current session. Is this normal? Is there any way to check when did the previous command executed? Thanks.
