  • C++: Calling class functions within a switch

    - by user1446002
    i've been trying to study for my finals by practicing classes and inheritance, this is what I've come up with so far for inheritance and such however I'm unsure how to fix the error occuring below. #include<iostream> #include<iomanip> #include<cmath> #include<string.h> using namespace std; //BASE CLASS DEFINITION class hero { protected: string name; string mainAttr; int xp; double hp; double mana; double armour; int range; double attkDmg; bool attkType; public: void dumpData(); void getName(); void getMainAttr(); void getAttkData(); void setAttkData(string); void setBasics(string, string, double, double, double); void levelUp(); }; //CLASS FUNCTIONS void hero::dumpData() { cout << "Name: " << name << endl; cout << "Main Attribute: " << mainAttr << endl; cout << "XP: " << xp << endl; cout << "HP: " << hp << endl; cout << "Mana: " << mana << endl; cout << "Armour: " << armour << endl; cout << "Attack Range: " << range << endl; cout << "Attack Damage: " << attkDmg << endl; cout << "Attack Type: " << attkType << endl << endl; } void hero::getName() { cout << "Name: " << name << endl; } void hero::getMainAttr() { cout << "Main Attribute: " << mainAttr << endl; } void hero::getAttkData() { cout << "Attack Range: " << range << endl; cout << "Attack Damage: " << attkDmg << endl; cout << "Attack Type: " << attkType << endl; } void hero::setAttkData(string attr) { int choice = 0; if (attr == "Strength") { choice = 1; } if (attr == "Agility") { choice = 2; } if (attr == "Intelligence") { choice = 3; } switch (choice) { case 1: range = 128; attkDmg = 80.0; attkType = 0; break; case 2: range = 350; attkDmg = 60.0; attkType = 0; break; case 3: range = 600; attkDmg = 35.0; attkType = 1; break; default: break; } } void hero::setBasics(string heroName, string attribute, double health, double mp, double armourVal) { name = heroName; mainAttr = attribute; hp = health; mana = mp; armour = armourVal; } void hero::levelUp() { xp = 0; hp = hp + (hp * 0.1); mana = mana + (mana * 0.1); armour = armour + ((armour*0.1) + 1); attkDmg = attkDmg + (attkDmg * 0.05); } //INHERITED CLASS DEFINITION class neutHero : protected hero { protected: string drops; int xpGain; public: int giveXP(int); void dropItems(); }; //INHERITED CLASS FUNCTIONS int neutHero::giveXP(int exp) { xp += exp; } void neutHero::dropItems() { cout << name << " has dropped the following items: " << endl; cout << drops << endl; } /* END OF OO! */ //FUNCTION PROTOTYPES void dispMenu(); int main() { int exit=0, choice=0, mainAttrChoice=0, heroCreated=0; double health, mp, armourVal; string heroName, attribute; do { dispMenu(); cin >> choice; switch (choice) { case 1: system("cls"); cout << "Please enter your hero name: "; cin >> heroName; cout << "\nPlease enter your primary attribute\n"; cout << "1. Create New Hero\n" "2. View Current Hero\n" "3. Fight Stuff\n" "4. Exit\n\n" "Enter your choice: "; } However upon compilation I get the following errors: 220 `player' undeclared (first use this function) Unsure exactly how to fix it as I've only recently started using OO approach. The error has a comment next to it above and is in case 2 in the main. Cheers guys.

  • Mac OS X and static boost libs -> std::string fail

    - by Ionic
    Hi all, I'm experiencing some very weird problems with static boost libraries under Mac OS X 10.6.6. The error message is main(78485) malloc: *** error for object 0x1000e0b20: pointer being freed was not allocated *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug [1] 78485 abort (core dumped) and a tiny bit of example code which will trigger this problem: #define BOOST_FILESYSTEM_VERSION 3 #include <boost/filesystem.hpp> #include <iostream> int main (int argc, char **argv) { std::cout << boost::filesystem::current_path ().string () << '\n'; } This problem always occurs when linking the static boost libraries into the binary. Linking dynamically will work fine, though. I've seen various reports for quite a similar OS X bug with GCC 4.2 and the _GLIBCXX_DEBUG macro set, but this one seems even more generic, as I'm neither using XCode, nor setting the macro (even undefining it does not help. I tried it just to make sure it's really not related to this problem.) Does anybody have any pointers to why this is happening or even maybe a solution (rather than using the dynamic library workaround)? Best regards, Mihai

  • Is it possible to defer member initialization to the constructor body?

    - by Kjir
    I have a class with an object as a member which doesn't have a default constructor. I'd like to initialize this member in the constructor, but it seems that in C++ I can't do that. Here is the class: #include <boost/asio.hpp> #include <boost/array.hpp> using boost::asio::ip::udp; template<class T> class udp_sock { public: udp_sock(std::string host, unsigned short port); private: boost::asio::io_service _io_service; udp::socket _sock; boost::array<T,256> _buf; }; template<class T> udp_sock<T>::udp_sock(std::string host = "localhost", unsigned short port = 50000) { udp::resolver res(_io_service); udp::resolver::query query(udp::v4(), host, "spec"); udp::endpoint ep = *res.resolve(query); ep.port(port); _sock(_io_service, ep); } The compiler tells me basically that it can't find a default constructor for udp::socket and by my research I understood that C++ implicitly initializes every member before calling the constructor. Is there any way to do it the way I wanted to do it, or is it too "Java-oriented" and not feasible in C++? I worked around the problem by defining my constructor like this: template<class T> udp_sock<T>::udp_sock(std::string host = "localhost", unsigned short port = 50000) : _sock(_io_service) { udp::resolver res(_io_service); udp::resolver::query query(udp::v4(), host, "spec"); udp::endpoint ep = *res.resolve(query); ep.port(port); _sock.bind(ep); } So my question is more out of curiosity and to better understand OOP in C++

  • dynamic JSF composite component styling/rendering

    - by Checkoff
    I've a little problem with a composite component. This component's implementation looks like: <composite:implementation> <h:outputStylesheet name="foo.css" library="bar"/> <div id="#{cc.clientId}"> <composite:insertChildren/> </div> </composite:implementation> It is included dynamically into a facelet page which include this component with JSTL core tags. The facelet page is similar to the following one. <h:panelGroup id="viewport" layout="block"> <c:if test="#{controller.object != null}"> <c:forEach items="#{controller.object.elements}" var="element"> <c:if test="#{element.type == 'type1'}"> <my:componentTypeOne id="#{element.id}"/> </c:if> <c:if test="#{element.type == 'type2'}"> <my:componentTypeTwo id="#{element.id}"/> </c:if> </c:forEach> </c:if> </h:panelGroup> So when I only render the viewport of the page the components are rendered but without the stylesheet defined within the composite component my:component. Is there any way to include the stylesheet on the fly without rendering the whole page? EDIT: extension of the example code..

  • Rails - eager load the number of associated records, but not the record themselves.

    - by Max Williams
    I have a page that's taking ages to render out. Half of the time (3 seconds) is spent on a .find call which has a bunch of eager-loaded associations. All i actually need is the number of associated records in each case, to display in a table: i don't need the actual records themselves. Is there a way to just eager load the count? Here's a simplified example: @subjects = Subject.find(:all, :include => [:questions]) In my table, for each row (ie each subject) i just show the values of the subject fields and the number of associated questions for each subject. Can i optimise the above find call to suit these requirements? I thought about using a group field but my full call has a few different associations included, with some second-order associations, so i don't think group by will work. @subjects = Subject.find(:all, :include => [{:questions => :tags}, {:quizzes => :tags}], :order => "subjects.name") :tags in this case is a second-order association, via taggings. Here's my associations in case it's not clear what's going on. Subject has_many :questions has_many :quizzes Question belongs_to :subject has_many :taggings has_many :tags, :through => :taggings Quiz belongs_to :subject has_many :taggings has_many :tags, :through => :taggings Grateful for any advice - max

  • C++ Switch won't compile with externally defined variable used as case

    - by C Nielsen
    I'm writing C++ using the MinGW GNU compiler and the problem occurs when I try to use an externally defined integer variable as a case in a switch statement. I get the following compiler error: "case label does not reduce to an integer constant". Because I've defined the integer variable as extern I believe that it should compile, does anyone know what the problem may be? Below is an example: test.cpp #include <iostream> #include "x_def.h" int main() { std::cout << "Main Entered" << std::endl; switch(0) { case test_int: std::cout << "Case X" << std::endl; break; default: std::cout << "Case Default" << std::endl; break; } return 0; } x_def.h extern const int test_int; x_def.cpp const int test_int = 0; This code will compile correctly on Visual C++ 2008. Furthermore a Montanan friend of mine checked the ISO C++ standard and it appears that any const-integer expression should work. Is this possibly a compiler bug or have I missed something obvious? Here's my compiler version information: Reading specs from C:/MinGW/bin/../lib/gcc/mingw32/3.4.5/specs Configured with: ../gcc-3.4.5-20060117-3/configure --with-gcc --with-gnu-ld --with-gnu-as --host=mingw32 --target=mingw32 --prefix=/mingw --enable-threads --disable-nls --enable-languages=c,c++,f77,ada,objc,java --disable-win32-registry --disable-shared --enable-sjlj-exceptions --enable-libgcj --disable-java-awt --without-x --enable-java-gc=boehm --disable-libgcj-debug --enable-interpreter --enable-hash-synchronization --enable-libstdcxx-debug Thread model: win32 gcc version 3.4.5 (mingw-vista special r3)

  • Top navigation link in Magento that I can't get rid of

    - by Chris Baily
    I'm working on a new theme for an existing Magento installation, and I've got a rogue link. The last guy apparently decided to hard code a link to the AW Blog extension he was using in the top navigation. See here: derm2go.com - link is "articles". I'm getting rid of AW Blog in favor of an integrated wordpress install, but when I uninstall AW Blog, the site breaks (everything after the nav dissapears) and I get this error in my logs: 2011-11-19T08:56:19+00:00 ERR (3): Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening 'Mage/Blog/Helper/Data.php' for inclusion (include_path='/chroot/home/dermtwog/derm2go.com/html/app/code/local:/chroot/home/dermtwog/derm2go.com/html/app/code/community:/chroot/home/dermtwog/derm2go.com/html/app/code/core:/chroot/home/dermtwog/derm2go.com/html/lib:.:/usr/share/pear') in /chroot/home/dermtwog/derm2go.com/html/lib/Varien/Autoload.php on line 93 I've searched everywhere, I can think of that might effect the nav menu, and I don't know where the link is coming from - it's not in the CMS/static blocks, its not in any of the default template files on the server (I deleted and reinstalled all of them) and it's showing up even when I change templates, so it's probably not in on the sub themes. Does anyone out there know of other files it could be hiding in? I'm assuming the last guy did a quick and dirty hack somehow - and maybe messed with core files? Would really rather not have to do a full reinstall.

  • merging two small pieces of jquery codes

    - by Billa
    Following are two pieces of jquery code. First one prints a text message when clicked on a link, and the second slides down a div when click on a link. I want to merge second code into first one, so that when I click the link, it displays the message (as the first code does), and also slides down the #votebox (as done in second code, and show content in that. I will be very thankful for any help. $("a.vote_up").click(function(){ the_id = $(this).attr('id'); $("span#votes_count"+the_id).fadeOut("fast"); $.ajax({ type: "POST", data: "action=vote_up&id="+$(this).attr("id"), url: "votes.php", success: function(msg) { $("span#votes_up"+the_id).fadeOut(); $("span#votes_up"+the_id).html(msg); $("span#votes_up"+the_id).fadeIn(); //Here, I want to slide down the votebox and content div (from code below). } }); }); The following code slides down votebox div and displays content in it, I want to include that in the above code. $("a.vote_up").click(function(){ var id=$(this).attr("id"); var name=$(this).attr("name"); var dataString = 'id='+ id + '&name='+ name; //I want to include this votebox in above code. $("#votebox").slideDown("slow"); $("#flash").fadeIn("slow"); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "rating.php", data: dataString, cache: false, success: function(html){ $("#flash").fadeOut("slow"); //and want to use this div as well. $("#content").html(html); } }); }); Thanks for any help.

  • Free utility which runs in Linux to create a UML class diagram from Java source files

    - by DeletedAccount
    I prefer to jot down UML-diagrams on paper and then implement them using Java. It would be nice to have a utility which could create UML-diagrams for me which I may share on-line and include in the digital documentation. In other words: I want to create UML diagrams from Java source code. The utility must be able to: Run in Linux. Handle Generics, i.e show List<Foo correctly in parameters and return type. Show class inheritance and interface implementations. It's nice if the utility is able to: Run in Windows and Mac OS X. Display enums in some nice manner. Generate output in a diagram format which I may modify using some other utility. Run from the command line. Restrict the UML generation to a set of packages which I may specify. Handle classes/interfaces which are not part of my source code. It could include the first class/interface which is external in the UML diagram. Perhaps in another color to indicate it being a library/framework created by someone else. Focuses on this task and doesn't try to solve the whole issue of documentation.

  • Seperation of business logic

    - by bruno
    Dear all, When I was optimizing my architecture of our applications in our website, I came to a problem that I don't know the best solution for. Now at the moment we have a small dll based on this structure: Database <-> DAL <-> BLL the Dal uses Business Objects to pass to the BLL that will pass it to the applications that uses this dll. Only the BLL is public so any application that includes this dll, can see the bll. In the beginning, this was a good solution for our company. But when we are adding more and more applications on that Dll, the bigger the Bll is getting. Now we dont want that some applications can see Bll-logic from other applications. Now I don't know what the best solution is for that. The first thing I thought was, move and seperate the bll to other dll's which i can include in my application. But then must the Dal be public, so the other dll's can get the data... and that I seems like a good solution. My other soluition, is just to seperate the bll in different namespaces, and just include only the namespaces you need in the applications. But in this solution, you can get directly access to other bll's if you want. So i'm asking for your oppinions. Thx, Bruno

  • Where in maven project's path should I put configuration files that are not considered resources

    - by Paralife
    I have a simple java maven project. One of my classes when executing needs to load an xml configuration file from the classpath. I dont want to package such xml file when producing the jar but I want to include a default xml file in a zip assemply under a conf subfolder and I also want this default xml to be available in the unit tests to test against it. As I see it there are 2 possible places of this default xml: src/main/resources/conf/default.xml src/main/conf/default.xml Both solutions demand special pom actions: In solution 1, I get the auto copy to target folder during build which means it is available in testing but I also get it in the produced jar which i dont want. In solution 2, I get the jar as I want it(free of the xml) but I manually have to copy the xml to the target folder to be available for testing. (I dont want to add src's subfolders in test classpath. I think it is bad practice). The question is what is the best solution of the two? If the correct is 2, what is the best way to copy it to target folder? Is there any other solution better and more common than those two? (I also read http://stackoverflow.com/questions/465001/where-should-i-put-application-configuration-files-for-a-maven-project but I would like to know the most "correct solution" from the "convention over configuration" point of view and this link provides some configuration type solutions but not any convention oriented. Maybe there isnt one but I ask anyway. Also the solutions provided include AntRun plugin and appAssembler plugin and I wonder if I could do it with out them.)

  • Getting base address of a process

    - by yoni0505
    I'm trying to make a program that read the timer value from Minesweeper. (OS is windows 7 64bit) Using cheat engine I found the base address of the variable, but it changes every time I run Minesweeper. What do I need to do to find out the base address automatically? Does it have something to do with the executable base address? Here's my code: #include <windows.h> #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { DWORD baseAddress = 0xFF1DAA38;//always changing DWORD offset1 = 0x18; DWORD offset2 = 0x20; DWORD pAddress1; DWORD pAddress2; float value = 0; DWORD pid; HWND hwnd; hwnd = FindWindow(NULL,"Minesweeper"); if(!hwnd)//didn't find the window { cout <<"Window not found!\n"; cin.get(); } else { GetWindowThreadProcessId(hwnd,&pid); HANDLE phandle = OpenProcess(PROCESS_VM_READ,0,pid);//get permission to read if(!phandle)//failed to get permission { cout <<"Could not get handle!\n"; cin.get(); } else { ReadProcessMemory(phandle,(void*)(baseAddress),&pAddress1,sizeof(pAddress1),0); ReadProcessMemory(phandle,(void*)(pAddress1 + offset1),&pAddress2,sizeof(pAddress2),0); while(1) { ReadProcessMemory(phandle,(void*)(pAddress2 + offset2),&value,sizeof(value),0); cout << value << "\n"; Sleep(1000); } } } }

  • OmniCppComplete: Completing on Class Members which are STL containers

    - by Robert S. Barnes
    Completion on class members which are STL containers is failing. Completion on local objects which are STL containers works fine. For example, given the following files: // foo.h #include <string> class foo { public: void set_str(const std::string &); std::string get_str_reverse( void ); private: std::string str; }; // foo.cpp #include "foo.h" using std::string; string foo::get_str_reverse ( void ) { string temp; temp.assign(str); reverse(temp.begin(), temp.end()); return temp; } /* ----- end of method foo::get_str ----- */ void foo::set_str ( const string &s ) { str.assign(s); } /* ----- end of method foo::set_str ----- */ I've generated the tags for these two files using: ctags -R --c++-kinds=+pl --fields=+iaS --extra=+q . When I type temp. in the cpp I get a list of string member functions as expected. But if I type str. omnicppcomplete spits out "Pattern Not Found". I've noticed that the temp. completion only works if I have the using std::string; declaration. How do I get completion to work on my class members which are STL containers?

  • Different standard streams per POSIX thread

    - by Roman Nikitchenko
    Is there any possibility to achieve different redirections for standard output like printf(3) for different POSIX thread? What about standard input? I have lot of code based on standard input/output and I only can separate this code into different POSIX thread, not process. Linux operation system, C standard library. I know I can refactor code to replace printf() to fprintf() and further in this style. But in this case I need to provide some kind of context which old code doesn't have. So doesn't anybody have better idea (look into code below)? #include <pthread.h> #include <stdio.h> void* different_thread(void*) { // Something to redirect standard output which doesn't affect main thread. // ... // printf() shall go to different stream. printf("subthread test\n"); return NULL; } int main() { pthread_t id; pthread_create(&id, NULL, different_thread, NULL); // In main thread things should be printed normally... printf("main thread test\n"); pthread_join(id, NULL); return 0; }

This may be because something has changed recently in gcc, but I can't figure out if it's something wrong in src/Makefile.am or a missing dependency: Download from http://www.ub.edu/softevol/variscan/: tar xzf variscan-2.0.2.tar.gz cd variscan-2.0.2/ make distclean sh ./autogen.sh make I get: [...] gcc -DNDEBUG -O3 -W -Wall -ansi -pedantic -lm -o variscan variscan.o statistics.o common.o linefile.o memalloc.o dlist.o errabort.o dystring.o intExp.o kxTok.o pop.o window.o free.o output.o readphylip.o readaxt.o readmga.o readmaf.o readhapmap.o readxmfa.o readmav.o ran1.o swcolumn.o swnet.o swpoly.o swref.o statistics.o: In function `calculate_Fu_and_Li_D': statistics.c:(.text+0x497): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o: In function `calculate_Fu_and_Li_F': statistics.c:(.text+0x569): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o: In function `calculate_Fu_and_Li_D_star': statistics.c:(.text+0x63b): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o: In function `calculate_Fu_and_Li_F_star': statistics.c:(.text+0x75c): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o: In function `calculate_Tajima_D': statistics.c:(.text+0x85d): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o:statistics.c:(.text+0xcb1): more undefined references to `sqrt' follow statistics.o: In function `calcRunMode21Stats': statistics.c:(.text+0xe02): undefined reference to `log' statistics.o: In function `correctedDivergence': statistics.c:(.text+0xe5a): undefined reference to `log' statistics.o: In function `calcRunMode22Stats': statistics.c:(.text+0x104a): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o: In function `calculate_Fu_fs': statistics.c:(.text+0x11a8): undefined reference to `fabsl' statistics.c:(.text+0x11ca): undefined reference to `powl' statistics.c:(.text+0x11f2): undefined reference to `logl' statistics.o: In function `calculateStatistics': statistics.c:(.text+0x13f2): undefined reference to `log' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [variscan] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/avilella/variscan/latest/variscan-2.0.2/src' make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 The libraries are there because this simple example works perfectly well: $ gcc test.c -o test -lm $ cat test.c #include <stdio.h> #include <math.h> int main(void) { double x = 0.5; double result = sqrt(x); printf("The hyperbolic cosine of %lf is %lf\n", x, result); return 0; } Any ideas?

  • Problem in printing array of char pointer passing from Python

    - by Yan Cheng CHEOK
    My following C code works quite well, till my Python code trying to pass an array of char pointer to it. The output I obtain is The file_name is python-file Another 3 string is not being printed out. Anything I had missed out? C Code #include <iostream> #include "c_interface.h" int foo(const char* file_name, const char** names) { std::cout << "The file_name is " << file_name << std::endl; while (*names) { std::cout << "The name is " << *names << std::endl; names++; } return 0; } /* int main() { const char *c[] = {"123gh", "456443432", "789", 0}; foo("hello", c); getchar(); } */ Python Code #!c:/Python27/python.exe -u from ctypes import * name0 = "NAME0" name1 = "NAME1" name2 = "NAME2" names = ((c_char_p * 1024) * 4)() names[0].value = name0 names[1].value = name1 names[2].value = name2 names[3].value = 0 libc = CDLL("foo.dll") libc.foo("python-file", names)

  • Class Assignment Operators

    - by Maxpm
    I made the following operator overloading test: #include <iostream> #include <string> using namespace std; class TestClass { string ClassName; public: TestClass(string Name) { ClassName = Name; cout << ClassName << " constructed." << endl; } ~TestClass() { cout << ClassName << " destructed." << endl; } void operator=(TestClass Other) { cout << ClassName << " in operator=" << endl; cout << "The address of the other class is " << &Other << "." << endl; } }; int main() { TestClass FirstInstance("FirstInstance"); TestClass SecondInstance("SecondInstance"); FirstInstance = SecondInstance; SecondInstance = FirstInstance; return 0; } The assignment operator behaves as-expected, outputting the address of the other class. Now, how would I actually assign something from the other class? For example, something like this: void operator=(TestClass Other) { ClassName = Other.ClassName; }

  • Cannot write the output to a text file in cpp program

    - by swapedoc
    I have this input file "https://code.google.com/codejam/contest/351101/dashboard/do/A-large-practice.in?cmd=GetInputFile&problem=374101&input_id=1&filename=A-large-practice.in&redownload_last=1&agent=website&csrfmiddlewaretoken=OWMxNTVmMTUyODBiYjhhN2Q2OTM3ZGJiMTNhNDkwMDF8fDEzNzIxNzI1NTE3ODAzMjA%3D" I tried to read this file :-using freopen("filename.txt",r,stdin); and then I wanted the output written to be written to another text file which I can upload in this codejam practice question for the judge. #include<iostream> #include<cstdio> using namespace std; int main() { int t,k=0,a[2000]; freopen("ab.txt","r",stdin); scanf("%d",&t); while(t--) { freopen("cb.txt","w",stdout); int c; scanf("%d",&c); int n; scanf("%d",&n); for(int i=0;i<n;i++) scanf("%d",&a[i]); printf("Case #%d: ",++k); for(int i=0;i<n-1;i++) {for(int j=i+1;j<n;j++) if((a[i]+a[j])==c) {printf("%d %d\n",i+1,j+1); i=n;} } } return 0; } This is my code. Now the problem is the output file cb.txt contains only the last line of the input. I want the the whole of the output to be written to cb.txt,so what should I do.

  • Users Hierarchy Logic

    - by user342944
    Hi guys, I am writing a user security module using SQLServer 2008 so threfore need to design a database accordingly. Formally I had Userinfo table with UserID, Username and ParentID to build a recursion and populated tree to represent hierarchy but now I have following criteria which I need to develop. I have now USERS, ADMINISTRATORS and GROUPS. Each node in the user hierarchy is either a user, administrator or group. User Someone who has login access to my application Administrator A user who may also manage all their child user accounts (and their children etc) This may include creating new users and assigning permissions to those users. There is no limit to the number of administrators in user structure. The higher up in the hierarchy that I go administrators have more child accounts to manage which include other child administrators. Group A user account can be designated as a group. This will be an account which is used to group one or more users together so that they can be manage as a unit. But no one can login to my application using a group account. This is how I want to create structure Super Administrator administrator ------------------------------------------------------------- | | | Manager A Manager B Manager C (adminstrator) (administrator) (administrator) | ----------------------------------------- | | | Employee A Employee B Sales Employees (User) (User) (Group) | ------------------------ | | | Emp C Emp D Emp E (User) (User) (User) Now how to build the table structure to achieve this. Do I need to create Users table alongwith Group table or what? Please guide I would really appreciate.

  • Creating WPF components in background thread

    - by mizipzor
    Im working on a reporting system, a series of DocumentPage are to be created through a DocumentPaginator. These documents include a number of WPF components that are to be instantiated so the paginator includes the correct things when later sent to the XpsDocumentWriter (which in turn is sent to the actual printer). My problem now is that the DocumentPage instances take quite a while to create (enough for Windows to mark the application as frozen) so I tried to create them in a background thread, which is problematic since WPF expects the attributes on them to be set from the GUI thread. I would also like to have a progress bar showing up, indicating how many pages have been created so far. Thus, it looks like Im trying to get two things to happen in parallell on the GUI. The problem is hard to explain and Im really not sure how to tackle it. In short: Create a series of DocumentPage's. These include WPF components These are to be created on a background thread, or use some other trick so the application isnt frozen. After each page is created, a WPF ProgressBar should be updated. If there is no decent way to do this, alternate solutions and approaches are more than welcome.
