The customer asked for presentations from three companies, including Oracle, and eventually selected Oracle Service Cloud (RightNow) with Alfa Sistemi (Oracle Platinum Partner) as a System Integrator supported by Wesquare (Oracle Gold partner specialized in RightNow). Synchronizing an On Premises ERP with a new SaaS based CRM platform could be seen as an uphill task, but WeSquare was determined, during the presales cycle, to prove that they had the skills and the attitude to make the difference.   Oracle has, unfortunately, moved to a new blogging platform. For security reasons, it is no longer possible to use external tools, such as Windows Live Writer. Since this makes it too time consuming for me to blog, I've decided to only use my private blog, even for work related blog entries. • What do you need to know to get a job as a web developer

  What do you need to know to at the very least get your foot in the door? We're assuming for someone who doesn't have a college degree (yet) but will eventually get one. My guess is html, css, javascript, and php, and photoshop and dreamweaver, and sql. And being familiar with using a web host to have sites live, like knowing how to use cpanel. It's probably a very inaccurate and narrow guess but that's what i think right now. I don't know exactly.

• Ubuntu will not start due to full partitions

  I left my computer downloading all the night and I did download 35 GB of movies (legal ...). I restarted the computed in the morning then I booted in my encrypted Windows partition for my work. I have left my computer downloading 35GB of files and when I restarted in the morning, I booted Windows. When I tried to access Ubuntu, it failed to boot and in low-graphic mode told me that it won't boot because the partition is full. I tried rescue and it reported 0 MB free. I also cannot delete files with sudo rm as all are impossible due to a read-only file system. I can mount it in Windows but there is a "write protection" there, also. Should I try a live USB?

  In the context of Continuous Integration, I need to teach unit testing to a 20-people audience of programmers. Everything will be all right, but I am still trying to find the perfect unit testing example. More than writing tests like a robot, I want to show that unit testing can help prevent very subtle errors. I am thinking of the following scenario to happen when doing a live TDD demo: the test cases would already be written, we would have to write methods together, most of us would naturally have forgotten to handle a specific case for a method, everyone would then be surprised, when seeing that all tests don't pass, the failing test would make us think more and realize that we forgot an important case. My question will probably finish as "too broad" or "not clear what you are asking", but we never know, one of you might have a great idea. Your answer can use Java and JUnit, though any other language will be fine since only the idea will matter.

• Atheros AR2413 wireless not working after shutdown

  I am using a Ubuntu 11.04 on an Acer aspire 3680 laptop and my wifi is not working. I followed the below commands to install the madwifi driver: sudo su apt-get install subversion cd /usr/src svn checkout http://madwifi-project.org/svn/madwifi/trunk madwifi tar cfvz madwifi.tgz cd madwifi make && make install echo "blacklist ath5k" /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf echo "ath_pci" /etc/modules modprobe ath_pci sudo reboot After installation I am facing the same problem. My wifi wont work after I shutdown. Infact it didn't work after suspend but I rectified that problem by the following commands: Command 1: sudo rmmod -f ath_pci sudo rfkill unblock all sudo modprobe ath_pci along with the command SUSPEND_MODULES=ath_pci added to the /etc/pm/config.d/madwifi directory. So if I suspend and then on my laptop the wifi loads well and doesn't create a problem. But if I shutdown my laptop the wifi never loads again and eachtime I have to run a Ubuntu 9.04 live CD to load it. I did try adding the Command 1 to the /etc/rc.local directory but still it doesn't work. So my question is: What should I do in order to make my wireless work without having to run a live CD of ubuntu 9.04 everytime after shutdown? Thanks.   I'm quite new to Ubuntu, and I don't know how to fix this: I have been experiencing the problem with window decorations that go away. I have been told that I could correct that with compiz fusion icon, just restarting the graphics whenever it happened. This solution only fixed the problem for like 30 seconds. Then I found out that the command inside the window decorator had changed, so I only had to reset it to default (/usr/bin/compiz-decorator). The only problem is that it keeps changing the command by itself once or twice a day. I can live with that, but I would like to find a more permanent solution, if there is one. I am running Ubuntu 11.10

• Boot-Repair after messing up NTFS partition

  I posted this question explaining what happened after I tried to create a new swap partition on a Win/Ubuntu dual-boot machine. I have since created a live-boot USB and installed Boot-Repair. I had it "recommend repairs", after which it tried repairing the wubi filesystems, which as far as I'm aware was not necessary. I'm not sure where to go from here; I don't care very much about backing up my files, I just want to be able to boot the machine. In the Advanced Options the "Repair Windows boot files" box is uncheckable both GRUB tabs are unclickable (I do have GRUB installed) Here is my Pastebinit with the details from the Boot-Repair. • Is there a way to disable a particular pci port

  I have a MB with 2 nics on it. a switch burned up and took out one of them. there is no way to turn them off individually in the bios. is there a way to turn off one of the ports. unmap it,unbind it, power it down so the system doesnt see it at after boot. they are mapped as 0000:02.08.0 and 0000:02.08.1 I want to turn the second one off somehow. Since they both use the same driver, blacklisting the module will take out both of them. Normally I would just live with it but it seems there should be a way to do that like in windows (gasp)--just disable it. I Actually have the exact same problem on another comp running XCP so this will be a 2fer if it gets figured out. the OS is 12.4 lts server with xen on it. THX

• Why is multithreading often preferred for improving performance?

  I have a question, it's about why programmers seems to love concurrency and multi-threaded programs in general. I'm considering 2 main approaches here: an async approach basically based on signals, or just an async approach as called by many papers and languages like the new C# 5.0 for example, and a "companion thread" that manages the policy of your pipeline a concurrent approach or multi-threading approach I will just say that I'm thinking about the hardware here and the worst case scenario, and I have tested this 2 paradigms myself, the async paradigm is a winner at the point that I don't get why people 90% of the time talk about multi-threading when they want to speed up things or make a good use of their resources. I have tested multi-threaded programs and async program on an old machine with an Intel quad-core that doesn't offer a memory controller inside the CPU, the memory is managed entirely by the motherboard, well in this case performances are horrible with a multi-threaded application, even a relatively low number of threads like 3-4-5 can be a problem, the application is unresponsive and is just slow and unpleasant. A good async approach is, on the other hand, probably not faster but it's not worst either, my application just waits for the result and doesn't hangs, it's responsive and there is a much better scaling going on. I have also discovered that a context change in the threading world it's not that cheap in real world scenario, it's in fact quite expensive especially when you have more than 2 threads that need to cycle and swap among each other to be computed. On modern CPUs the situation it's not really that different, the memory controller it's integrated but my point is that an x86 CPUs is basically a serial machine and the memory controller works the same way as with the old machine with an external memory controller on the motherboard. The context switch is still a relevant cost in my application and the fact that the memory controller it's integrated or that the newer CPU have more than 2 core it's not bargain for me. For what i have experienced the concurrent approach is good in theory but not that good in practice, with the memory model imposed by the hardware, it's hard to make a good use of this paradigm, also it introduces a lot of issues ranging from the use of my data structures to the join of multiple threads. Also both paradigms do not offer any security abut when the task or the job will be done in a certain point in time, making them really similar from a functional point of view. According to the X86 memory model, why the majority of people suggest to use concurrency with C++ and not just an async approach ? Also why not considering the worst case scenario of a computer where the context switch is probably more expensive than the computation itself ?

• Suggestions on Calculating Advertising Rates [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How do I set a price for advertising on my website? I recently launched a new developer website, Black Belt Coder. The site is only seeing about 150 visitors per day but, given that it's only been live two months, I feel I'm off to a good start. I'd like to start monetizing the site as soon as possible but consider AdSense and other programs largely a waste of time. I'd like to deal directly with the advertisers but have no idea what to charge. Are there any guidelines for determining advertising rates based on visitors or page views? I don't expect to do PPC. I want to charge a the time period for banner ads, knowing that advertisers will be keeping an eye on the number of clicks.
