I tried using but if it delimits the arguments by space. So, if my first argument has space then it takes the word after space as second argument.   • Any tips on switching from bash to zsh if often using shell inside of emacs?

    Related to this question: Advantages and disadvantages between zsh and emacs' (e)shell, I've read some great things about zsh, when using M-x shell, my familiar emacs shell seemed like it would need some customizations. I also use evil-mode in shell mode, so that means I use vi keystrokes for shell editing. Took a little while to get accustomed to this, but I really like it. Any advice or tips on going from bash to zsh if one uses emacs? Or better off adding the file completion mentioned in this question: Worth switching to zsh for casual use?.

  • Why does this Robocopy command make files hidden and how can I unhide them?

    I am trying to make a backup to an external HD using Robocopy. I am wondering why it makes the destination directory hidden and subsequently why I can't unhide it? Note: I'm new to the Windows command line. This is the first command I have ever passed. The command I used is: Robocopy D:\ I:\destination-directory /E /R:0 /DCOPY:T The backup worked fine, but it made the destination directory hidden. Then I tried to unhide the directory with the following command: ATTRIB -H "I:\destination-directory" /S /D and the output is: Not resetting system file -- I:\destination-directory So, Why does this Robocopy command hide the destination directory? What can I do to unhide this directory? I would like to use the command line to do this.

    ok so i'm working through a tutorial to get rvm installed on my mac. the bash command to get rvm via curl is curl -L https://get.rvm.io | bash -s stable i understand the first half's curl command at location rvm.io, and that the result is piped to the subsequent bash command, but i'm not sure what that command is doing. My questions: -s : im always confused about how to refer to these. what type of thing is this: a command line argument? a switch? something else? -s : what is it doing? i have googled for about half an hour but not sure how to refer to it makes it difficult. stable : what is this? tl;dr : help me decipher the command bash -s stable to those answering this post, i aspire to one day be as bash literate as you. until then, opstards such as myself thank you for the help!

    I have written an O/R database wrapper that generates some wrapper methods for stored procs it reads from the database. Now I need to produce some custom wrapper code if an input parameter of a stored proc is defaulted to NULL. The problem is - I get stored proc parameters using: SqlCommandBuilder.DeriveParameters(command) and it doesn't bring parameter defaults. Is there any way to look up those defaults? Are they stored anywhere in the database? BTW, I'm using SQL Server 2008

    I am running a web application on BEA Weblogic 9.2. Until recently, we were using JDK 1.5.0_04, with JAI 1.1.2_01 and Image IO 1.1. In some circumstances (we never figured out exactly why), when we were processing large images (but not that large - a few MB), the JVM would crash without any error message or stack trace or anything. This didn't happen much in production, but enough to be a nuisance and eventually we were able to reproduce it. We decided to switch to JRockit90 1.5.0_04 and we were no longer able to reproduce the problem in our test environment, so we thought we had it licked. Now, however, after the application server has been up for a while, we start getting the error message, "Not enough storage is available to process this command" during image operations.     My MSBuild command line is as follows: msbuild e:\code\myProject.csproj /p:Configuration=Debug /p:OutputPath=bin/Debug /p:Platform=x86 /p:PlatformTarget=x86 The project builds fine on my development machine in VS2010 but not with the command above. I am writing a web service asynchronously and I want to be able to run some tests to see if the asynchronous pattern is really going to make it more scalable.     I am new to MS ADO and trying to understand how to set the size on command parameters as created by the command.CreateParameter (Name, Type, Direction, Size, Value) The documentation says the following: Size Optional. A Long value that specifies the maximum length for the parameter value in characters or bytes. ... If you specify a variable-length data type in the Type argument, you must either pass a Size argument or set the Size property of the Parameter object before appending it to the Parameters collection; otherwise, an error occurs. 1.) What should one pass for fixed-size parameters? Is it a "don't care"? I was a bit confused by the example found here, in which they set size to 3 for an adInteger parameter with Value set to a variant of type VT_I2 pPrmByRoyalty->Type = adInteger; pPrmByRoyalty->Size = 3; pPrmByRoyalty->Direction = adParamInput; pPrmByRoyalty->Value = vtroyal; VT_I2 implies two bytes. A tagVARIANT struct is 16 bytes. How did they land on three? I see that the enum value for adInteger happens to be three, but I suspect that is just a coincidence. So it's a bit confusing what to pass for fixed-size parameters. The team I'm working with has always passed sizeof(int) for adInteger, and it seems to work. Is that correct? Now, for "variable-length" parameters: we are instructed by the documentation to pass "the maximum length .. in characters or bytes". 2.) For adVarChar, is it sufficient to pass the max width as defined in the database? 3.) What about the Wide types (e.g. adVarWChar)? Is it characters or bytes? 4.) How about adVariant, which could contain fixed- or variable-length data? 5.) Do arrays ever come into play here? (we don't pass them as parameters, just curious) Any references or personal insights are welcome.
