• How to add search.asmx web reference to webpart application in VS2008 ? facing problem.

  Hi, I am trying to create the custom search webpart. I want to use Enterprise Search Query Model (MOSS) . But unable to add the web reference of the search.asmx webservice. infact it has no WSDL file. just wondering about what setting it needs.... too If anybody know how to do, same. please let me know. you can find the search webservice at "http://:/sites//_vti_bin/spsearch.asmx" I tried by right cliking on project said Add Service Reference , inserts the url said Go , but nothis was there. same i tried with web aplication . but no effect. even i can see the methods in browser, but cannot generate WSDL ??

• Where to find great proxy servers for testing GeoIP services?

  We would like to test a GeoIP-Service. Therefore we need to go to the site with an IP from another country. There are a lot of free proxy lists like http://nntime.com/proxy-country/ The problem with them is, that only the CoDeen-Proxies are working. But with CoDeen you can't select your country of origin (the same as with TOR). You get redirected to a random proxy in the network. Where to find good proxy server for testing the GeoIP Services? Free proxy servers would be great, but if they cost something small that doesn't matter.

• Haskell as REST server

  I would like to try Haskell on a smallish project which should be well suited to it. I would like to use it as a backend to a small ajax application. Haskell backend should be able to do authentication (basic, form, whatever, ...), keep track of user session (not much data there except for username) and to dispatch request to handlers based on uri and request type. It should also be able to serialize response to both xml and json format, depending on request parameter. I suppose the handlers are ideally suited for Haskell, since the service is basically stateless, but I don't know where to start for the rest of the story. Searching hackage didn't give me much hints.

  Well recently I've been reading about different Denial of Service methods. One method that kind of stuck out was SYN flooding. I'm a member of some not-so-nice forums, and someone was selling a python script that would DoS a server using SYN packets with a spoofed IP address. However, if you sent a SYN packet to a server, with a spoofed IP address, the target server would return the SYN/ACK packet to the host that was spoofed. In which case, wouldn't the spoofed host return an RST packet, thus negating the 75 second long-wait, and ultimately failing in its attempt to DoS the server?

• Using checkbox to enable eventlistener

  I have looked for a solution to this for days and days. The examples I found don't make sence to me, probably because I am both old and new (old to life and new to android/jave). I would like to add a checkbox to my preference activity that would either enable or disable receivers. This is for a service which will run in the background, at boot completed, and will depend on two things 1)is the preference true and 2) is wifi enabled. So it would work something like this; user turns on phone boot completed checks if receivers are enabled (set by checkboxpreference) if checkboxpreference is true - looks for wifi if wifi is true - registers receivers Also required would be if wifi or checkboxpreference goes "false", unregister receivers. • Drawing with GDI+ under IIS

  I'm running a web application under IIS that we draw graphs with that are sent to the clients. We were previously running under iis6, while migrating to 2008 ( iis7 ) we have encountered some very weird issues with the graphing. I stumbled across the msdn docs for GDI+ stating that "GDI+ functions and classes are not supported for use within a Windows service." I suspect that my issues are probably related to further isolation of services http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms533798%28VS.85%29.aspx My question is how the heck are we supposed to draw graphics? Raw GDI? OpenGL - but doesn't that still require a DC?

• OData &ndash; The easiest service I can create: now with updates

  The other day I created a simple NastyWord service exposed via OData. It was read-only and used an in-memory backing store for the words. Today I’ll modify it to use a file instead of a list and I’ll accept new nasty words by implementing IUpdatable directly. The first thing to do is enable the service to accept new entries. Here’s the order these methods are called in our service during an insert: CreateResource – here we just instantiate a new NastyWord and stick a reference to it in our pending updates list. SetValue – this is where the “Word” property of the NastyWord instance is set. SaveChanges – get the list of pending updates, barfing on duplicates, write them to the file and clear our pending list. ResolveResource – the newly created resource will be returned directly here since we aren’t dealing with “handles” to objects but the actual objects themselves. Not too bad, eh? I didn’t find this documented anywhere but a little bit of digging in the OData spec and use of Fiddler made it pretty easy to figure out.   I'm having a hell of a time getting WCF Data Services to work within Silverlight. I'm using the VS2010 RC. I've struggled with the cross domain issue requiring the use of clientaccesspolicy.xml & crossdomain.xml files in the web server root folder, but I just couldn't get this to work. I've resorted to putting both the Silverlight Web App & the WCF Data Service in the same project to get past this issue, but any advice here would be good. But now that I can actually see my data coming from the database and being displayed in a data grid within Silverlight I thought my troubles were over - but no. I can edit the data and the in-memory entity is changing, but when I call BeginSaveChanges (with the appropriate async EndSaveChangescall) I get no errors, but no data updates in the database.   I have some serious problems with Technaxx pci-e 302p card. It has uPD720200a NEC chip with 4020 firmware. BIOS recognises it. Sometimes it recognises devices and system mounts them and are functional for few minutes, other times they can't be mount and error occours. After fresh install card worked fine, but after kernel and firmware update it behaves as mentioned. I need to build these factories in code because they map strings to delegates. I have a service that contains several of these factories. The mission is to make these factory classes available to a content processor. Neither the processor itself nor the context it uses as a parameter have any known hooks to attach an IServiceProvider or equivalent. Any ideas?
