  • Should I move from Java programming to Delphi programming?

    over the years i have been employed in a permanent position with firms that did their development work in Windows SDK, VC++, and most recently Java; in my own eyes, I am language independent. Should I move from Java to Delphi (assuming pay-scale remains unchanged)? I'm concerned because, for the most part, the net presents a relatively bleak picture for this particular skill.

    I can't seem to find in the SDK how to programatically sense the mute button/switch on the iPhone. When my app plays background music, it responds properly to the volume button without me having any code to follow that but, when I use the mute switch, it just keeps playing away. How do I test the position of mute? (NOTE: My program has its own mute switch, but I'd like the physical switch to override that.) Thanks!

    Hi, I am trying to move content in a pdf document using pdfSharp. We have a number of documents that are the same size i.e. 488x320mm, the content within these documents is always positioned relative to the top right of the document but varies in size i.e. 210x330mm, 240x350mm etc. What i need to do is 'find' the content block and move it from its current position to the centre of the sheet.     I have the following code. What I want to achieve is to update the shown list when I click an entry so I can traverse through the list. I found the two uncommented ways to do it here on stackoverflow, but neither works. I also got the advice to create a new ListActivity on the data update, but that sounds like wasting resources? EDIT: I found the solution myself. All you need to do is call "SimpleCursorAdapter.changeCursor(new Cursor);".     Hy, I got an intersting problem which I stumbled upon. When I double click a label in a JLabel I want to add another button in a JPanel, its a shorter way to make a dragg and drop. The problem is that the button doesn't appears only if i'll position the mouse on the area the button should appear. Why does it happens this way? Anyone got a clue?     Is there a way to set the cursor at the end in a TEXTAREA tag? I'm using Firefox 3.6 and I don't need it to work in IE or Chrome. JavaScript is ok but it seems all the related answers in here use onfocus() event, which seems to be useless because when user clicks on anywhere within textarea, Firefox sets cursor position to there. I have a long text to display in a textarea so that it displays the last portion (making it easier to add something at the end).

  • NetworkOnMainThreadException while using AsyncTask

    Im making an app that uses the internet to retrive information. I get an NetworkOnMainThreadException as i tried to run it on 3.0 and above and have therefore tried to set it up using AsyncTask, but it still gives the exception and i don't know what is wrong. Oddly enough i read on this thread Android NetworkOnMainThreadException inside of AsyncTask that if you just removes the android:targetSdkVersion="10" statement from the manifest file it will be able to run. This works but i don't find it as the right solution to solve the problem this way. So if anyone can tell me what im doing wrong with the AsyncTask i will really appriciate it. Also if there is anybody that knows why removing the statement in the manifest makes it work, im really interested in that also.   • Android: onListItemClick not getting called in ListActivity

    I'm having problems with my first Android app. I have subclassed ListActivity, and I'm having no luck getting the overridden onListItemClick() to respond to click events. I've read focus can be a problem, but changing focus in the XML files does not seem to work. Here's the relevant bits of code.   • WP7 PanoramaItem with Icon/Button next to Header

    Windows Phone 7's People hub has an "all" panorama item with "search" and a "new" buttons right next to the header/title. I can't seem to accomplish this with PanoramaItem in Visual Studio using the standard Panorama control. I don't know enough Silverlight/WPF either to be able to position something manually and control transitions/movement correctly. How can I set a button (or any object, for that matter) to go alongside the header of a wp7 PanoramaItem? Thanks!
