  • Is there any way to add references without recompiling in .NET?

    I am using a IoC Container (Castle Windsor) to instantiate classes accordingly to the configuration file. If I want to add classes from a new dll that didn't exist when I compiled the project, there is any way to do that without recompiling? Edit: As this project is a Service Host for WCF service, and the classes that I want to include after compilation are WCF Services I would like also to know if I can include endpoint information about new services without recompiling.

  • Restricting Directory access from web application context

    i have a web application which stores users file in directory which is under webroot directory.. Suppose web application is under 'fileupload' and all files are getting stored in 'xyz' folder under 'fileupload' so now if user points to url say like www.xyzpqr.com/fileupload/xyz/abc.doc, he gets that file. How do i restirct this from happening.. i have thought of putting xyz folder in WeB-inf folder but as my application is very big i have to made changes at too many places.. so is there any way so that without moving the folder to web-inf (restricted folders) i can achieve wat i want..

  • Hosted SVN - RepositoryHosting.com

    I'm currently reviewing repositoryhosting.com for possibly hosting our company code, however, I'm weary about pushing forward for a few reasons. First, if the company goes under, I have no assurance that I will have access to grab backups of the code prior. Secondly, their terms state this: "User agrees that Repository Hosting shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses resulting from the use of or inability to use the Service." Basically, I want to ensure that our data is safe. I understand that they do offsite backups and such, however, if there were to be a catastrophic loss of data that was their fault, would we be left with just a "sorry"? What about your thoughts on hosted svn and is it better to just continue to do it yourself?

    Our company develop several software products, which reuse each others packages (we use Java). Every product represented as separate Eclipse Java project and has it's own versioning repository (we use Mercurial). When we find a bug in some shared package, we need to transfer changes to all consuming projects, and this is a hell. The key problem is that Eclipse project can be associated only with one versioning repository. Could someone recommend some way to associate Eclipse Java project whith several versioning repositories which in ideal may be geterogeious (svn, git, mercurial) ?

    I am a single developer without another computer to backup my projects on. I'm looking into source controls and I came across git but all the setup tutorials are targeted to an external server. I used to use SourceGear Vault, but seeing that git is getting alot of attention, I might as well familiarize myself with it. I do not always have internet access. Is Git suitable for me? Can I be pointed in the right direction to set it up? Visual Studio 2008. Windows 7.

  • git can I speed up committing?

    I have a big repository in a shared folder. I use git from within a VM on that folder. Everything works nice, but the repository is big and git's searching through all directories and files when committing is slow. I cannot move this repository out of the shared folder. I tried to git add specific files and directories, but when I do git commit -m "something" it still goes off onto it's oddyssey through the directory tree. Can I do commits that ignore the rest of the tree?

    If the bisect range includes multiple branches, how does hg bisect's search work. Does it effectively bisect each sub-branch (I would think that would be inefficient)? I'm wondering if I can just throw the first "good" marker way back past some nest of merges without thinking about it much, and whether that would save time and give correct results.

  • How can I setup a svn subdomain so I can checkin/out without using svn+ssh?

    I have a svn repository on my hosting account at ~/repository/. At the moment I have to create ssh keys to my server for users to checkin/out from the repository using a command like "svn+ssh://domain.com/project1/trunk". This is fine when there were 2 of us using the repository but now I have other people that might be doing work on the server that I cannot fully trust, hence I cannot give them ssh keys as then they will have access to my entire server. I would like to setup access to my svn repository via a subdomain e.g. svn.domain.com, so that users can checkin/out from this location using a command like: "svn co http://svn.domain.com/project1/trunk" - without using ssh. Can this be done and how? This should also help me solve my other issue of managing which users have access to which svn projects. Thanks for any help in advance!

  • Why do so many wpf controls implement CLR properties instead of dependency properties ?

    Hello, is it because the controls programmers are lazy, too hard to implement or not knowledgeable? Wether they are custom controls from 3rd party vendors or Microsoft itself, very much controls have often clr properties instead of DP. Result is I can not bind to them and is wpf not all about binding? :/ My next side question would be, why do so many wpf controls offer visual parts but they are not member of the visual tree ? see wpf datagrid columns, headers... What do you think?

  • Restoring a subversion repository to workcopy revision

    My subversion VM died the other day (host hardware melted) and I had to restore a backed up copy of the vmware server image. The restore went well and the VM is running again on a new host. The problem I have is that my restored repository is at revision 60 but my working copy on my PC is at 66. When I try and commit my working copy I get the following error message. svn: Commit failed (details follow): svn: No such revision 61 What is the best way to force this commit and bring subversion up to the same revision as my working copy?     How should I properly implement data access in my custom model binders? Like in controllers I use IContentRepository and then have it create an instance of its implementing class in constructor. So I have everything ready for incorporating IoC (DI) at a later stage. Now I need something similar in model binder. I need to make some DB lookups in the binder. I'm thinking of doing it the same way I do it in controllers but I am open to suggestion. A few friends and I are thinking of starting a few projects for iPhone, web, Android, etc., and it would be nice to have a public (internet) code repository to use that would work well on any platform (Mac, PC, Linux).     I just got a new PC running Windows 7 (64-bit). I'd like to install an SVN client (command line only, I don't want TortoiseSVN). I'm not sure which of these to install: http://subversion.apache.org/packages.html#windows does anyone have any opinions on this? I tried going for the ones hosted by Tigris, but the downloaded zip says to read an install file hosted at their site, but the link is broken. Do we simply download, then call svn.exe as needed, no need for a real 'install'?

  • Best way to order menu items injected by an IoC/plugin Framework

    One of the common things I've seen done in applications built on IoC/plugin frameworks is to add commands to menus or toolbars from the dynamically loaded plugins. For example, the application's default plugins supply actions like "New, Open, Save" that show up in the context menu for a certain item in the workspace. A new plugin may add "Mail, Post, Encrypt" commands, but where do those commands show up in relation to "New, Open, Save"? How can the application that is loading components through IoC impose order on the items that get injected? Does it require metadata from the plugins that give a hint on how to group or order the items? Does it use a config file of previously known menu names (or ids) to define the order (seems a little weak to me)? Or are "unknown" plugins treated as second class citizens and always get dumped into sub menus? Something I've never even imagined (which I'm hoping to see in the answers)
