• Server 2003 - Default installation of SharePoint throws javascript error 'undefined' is null or not an object

  I have been handed a server that has a fresh installation of small business server 2003. SharePoint has been installed, and it is a completely fresh copy (no changes made) I know for a fact that everything was paid for so this isn't some dodgy copy. When I try to click any option in any of the floating menu's in IE 8, the browser asks me if I want to debug .. Error: 'undefined' is null or not an object for example, I got to Projects - and click on the sample project, then click delete on the floating menu that pops up and the error appears. This is brand new, I cannot believe I am having this problem! Has anyone come across this, is it an old problem with easy fix? All windows updates installed - see no updates for sharepoint?   Hey gurus, need some help badly with this one. I run a server with a 6Tb md raid5 volume built over 7*1Tb disks.   My laptop has an OEM version of Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I need to reinstall Windows, and I've made sure that disk I have downloaded is the same as the one on my system (32-bit Home Premium). Is the retail version the same as the OEM? I only have a retail copy but I have an OEM license. Will I have any problems reactivating my copy of windows? Note, my HW hasn't changed. Note: I saw this post already, but I don't have an OEM disk: Installing XP with out manufacturers original XP restore disk, possiable with OEM disk?

• Installing the Newest KeePass for MacOSX from Source

  I've transitioned our passwords to KeePass. LastPass looks cool, but I prefer a system where we control the database locally rather than it being kept in the cloud. I have a windows and Linux system and both are able to access our KeePass database easily. On my Linux system (Ubuntu), I simply installed KeePass via synaptic and it just worked. So everything was working great, until my wife tried to set up things on her MacBook to access the database. Huge problems. It was so easy on Linux that I didn't expect there to be issues there. In case it's helpful, she's running a fresh install of Mac OSX 10.5.8, Leopard. We simply went to the download site for KeePass: http://keepass.info/download.html Clicked on the link titled KeePass 2.x for Mac OS X from which we retrieved Mono 2.10.5 and KeePass 2.18 from that site (the packages posted there at the time of this writing). Mono installed without problems (at least, none that we saw). She opened the KeePass image and dragged it to the Application side, unpackaging it there. According to the instructions on the KeePass installation instructions, she opened a terminal, changed to the directory in /Applications containing KeePass.exe, and ran it through mono: mono KeePass.exe No application opens at all - we see a blip for it, but then it immediately goes away, indicating to us that it is crashing. Also disconcerting, I see that people are throwing fits about copy-and-paste not working for KeePass 2.18 on MacOSX. Judging from the 2.19 addresses the copy/paste issue. I'm hoping that version will solve all our issues. So here's my question: how can I try out 2.19 on her system. It doesn't seem to be packaged like the 2.18 one is. But we're not scared of building it. I see that the source for 2.19 is here (at the bottom of the page). Can I just download that to her machine somewhere and run something to build it? I'm familiar with automake but not with building .NET source, so please answer gently if this is stupidly easy. :^) btw: tomorrow's my wife's birthday, and this is getting her down. If you know how to navigate these issues, it would be a nice birthday gift for her. Thanks in advance! Update I'll post this since it might be helpful to someone else: I got KeePass 2.18 to run by updating Mono to 2.10.9 (rather than the 2.10.5 given by the site above). With the later version of Mono, it runs without crashing. And yet, I do see the copy and paste issue that others see. I can open a database on her machine, but the incorrect data get's copied. So again, can someone help me install KeePass 2.19? Thanks!

• VMware - I/O error - how to fix?

  I'm running XP pro on VMware - it mounts and runs just fine. However, if I power down the VM and try to copy it, or even if I try to do a simple Mac Backup (using Carbon Copy Cloner), I get an i/o error at one very specific VMDK file.   I'm batch transcoding some 50 GB of video files on a USB hard disk which is connected to a wlan router. The drive is mapped as a network drive on my Windows 7 laptop. The speed handicap of the wlan causes some parts of the processing to become unnecessarily slow, so I would like to do the following with PowerShell: List the names of the files on the network drive to be transcoded Copy the first file to a temporary folder on my laptop Simultaneously Transcode the file in the folder Begin copying the next file from the network drive to the temporary folder After transcoding and copy have both ended, Delete the file which has been transcoded from the temporary folder Begin transcoding next file in the temporary folder Loop until all files have been processed How would I be able to do this with PowerShell? The multitasking part is an obstacle for my skill/persistence combination.

  When I install a fresh copy of XP home (bought it from the store.. not a copy) my pc rocks like lightening speed. But when I start installing all the updates, patches & less .NET 4.0 client (As the .NET 4.0 Client seems to bring machine to slow crawl). The pc starts to slow down.. like there is more resources to watch or something in the background is happening. So could I not get away with a awesome virus protector & awesome firewall set-up and avoid all the patches? The machine I have is a quad 4, 4gb ram and 2.3 GHZ process. Tons of room and the machine can run several apps at one time.. but when the updates happen.. its s-l-o-w!

• How to change a function/formula in a whole column where I also have empty cells

  I have a column with a formula/function that has other cells as parameters. However in the column, every few rows I have a subtotal and blanks, for readability. Now I decided to change the formula/function but I can not do copy+paste on the whole column because of the subtotals/blank cells, and I can not do change+replace because there are parameters in the functions that uses other cells and thus it is different in each cell in the column. For example, if the formula is =if(A5>24,1,"") and I want to change it to =AA_userfn(A5,B5) Any idea how to change it easily? currently I copy+paste few rows at a time, but that is tedious. Maybe a Sub that will go all over the column (the column number as an input parameter) and looks for =if(, and then replaces it with =aa_userfn(Ax, By) where Ax and By are calculated based on the position of the cell currently changed in reference to the previous values in that cell. Any ideas will be welcomed

  I've never understood how formatting works in MSWord for lists... it mostly just works but sometimes becomes incredibly stubborn about enforcing styles you don't want, especially when copy-pasting into a list and working with multiple, multi-layer lists. What are some good ways to understand how it works, so one can work with Word, instead of fighting against it? Here's an example... I want a list like: 1)first test CHECK: a)something b)another thing 2)another test CHECK: a)it works b)it doesn't crash I find Word really doesn't like this... I try creating one mini-list and copy pasting but typically the numbering on the sub-lists doesn't re-start automatically, etc. I'm using Word 2007 but I remember it being this way in earlier versions too.

The files are in a directory structure, like this: MyDir\File1 MyDir\File2 MyDir\File3 MyDir\MoreFiles\File4 MyDir\MoreFiles\File5 I want to create a 7z file with the following structure via command line: ZippedDir\File1 ZippedDir\File2 ZippedDir\File3 ZippedDir\MoreFiles\File4 ZippedDir\MoreFiles\File5 Basically, I want to zip the content of MyDir\ into a new folder called ZippedDir\. I know I could copy the content into a directory called ZippedDir\ and then zip this new directory. However, I was wondering if there was a way to avoid this extra copy step and directly zip the content, if possible, via command line.

• Proxmox - Uploading disk image

  I've got a KVM Virtual Machine in my local PC, and I'd like to copy it to a Proxmox server. According to the docs, I just have to create a new VM on Proxmox and add the existing disk image to it, but how do I upload the image to the server? In the admin panel, if I click in MyStorage - Content - Upload, it just give me options to upload ISOs, VZDump backup files or OpenVZ templates. Would it be enough with a copy using scp? In that case, in which folder?

• Slow file operations, possible I/O error but chkdsk says OK

  I've recently faced a strange problem. I use Directory Opus file manager that suddenly started to report an I/O error when trying to copy files onto one of my disks. The Windows Explorer did copy those files but it was extremely slow. I run chkdsk on this drive (ca. 300GB) and it took it over two days to complete! However it reported no errors found. I run Hard Disk Sentinel that says the drive is OK. But the files still read and write extremely slow! Can anyone advise me what to do? I have a spare space I am copying my files for backup now but should I get rid of this disk? Or can I try to "heal" it somehow? Many thanks for your ideas!

After applying the icacls permissions above the result changes to this. C:\>copy nul text.txt A required privilege is not held by the client. 0 file(s) copied. Is this an issue with the way I am applying the permissions? Or is Window 7 being extremely strict?

I figured I'd do as follows: Delete the array, so I have 2 separate but identical disks, A and B, with my files Put disk B aside Reformat disk A, build RAID 1 array with it, install Windows XP Put disk B back in Boot to Windows on disk A, copy my files from disk B to disk A Add disk B to the RAID 1 array, rebuild array And now I'd have a new RAID 1 array, fresh install and all my files intact (the ones I copied). Here are the parts I'm unsure about: Can I build a RAID 1 array using just one disk, then add the other one later? Can Windows on disk A see disk B and allow me to copy my files over?

• How restore back up email files in qmail

  I have problem with restoring some old backup mail files in a mail server that uses qmail. The problem is, when I copy a new email file to the /cur directory, the number of emails in front of inbox increases, but when I click on the inbox, I don't see the newly copied email. I can only see the old emails. I also deleted maildirsize and courierimapuiddb files and they where automatically created again, but it didn't help and I cannot still see the email in my inbox. Is there something I am missing? How can I restore the backed up email files? Please note that when I copy the email files in /.sent-mail/cur directory, they are all displayed in my sent box, but that doesn't happen for inbox files in /cur directory.

• Help me exorcise my demon possessed logon script

  I have a user logon script that copies a file over to a subfolder of the current user's profile path: Script (only showing the line that isn't working): copy /Y c:\records\javasettings_Windows_x86.xml "%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\config">>c:\records\OOo3%USERNAME%.txt 2>&1 To diagnose why it wasn't working, I did a somelogfile.log parameter on the group policy script and found that what the above command is translating to is this: C:\WINDOWS>copy /Y c:\records\javasettings_Windows_x86.xml "C:\Documents and Settings\test2\Application Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\config" 1>>c:\records\OOo3test2.txt 2>&1 So the question is, how do I get rid of (exorcise) the " 1" in that line? Update 1: So the reason the script wasn't working was that the creator didn't have any permissions on the directory. I fixed the permissions, and now the file works but! I still have the " 1" showing on all the logs and would like to know why.

• Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit running Cobian Backup 11 (Gravity)

  I'm really enjoying Cobian 11, but am fairly new to it. My question is this. I back up a pretty large folder on a regular basis. I started off by doing a Full backup, and have followed that monthly using differential backups. I was told that, to restore my computer after a crash, I need to copy back the original full backup AND copy back the latest differential over the full. That's fine. However, over the months there are quite a few large differential backups dated between the original Full one and the latest differential one. To free space on my backup HD, can I every now and then delete the differential backups that lie between the original Full and the latest differential, and just leave the original Full and the latest differential backup on the HD?

I had success doing it this way for one file, but then I tried it on another file, and there is a slight, but noticeable loss in video quality. • Replicating/Synchronizng multiple tables across diffrent Databases on the same instance

  I have few tables that needed to be replicated/synchronized across several databases in our SQL Server 2008 cluster. I know it's possible to replicate between multiple instances, but I'm looking for replication or synchronization in the same instance between specific tables of databases. The replicaiton/synchronization should happen every half-hour or so, but I don't mind it happening constantly. I can't use DROP the target table and INSERT (copy) the source table since there are many constraints. Reason for this is to not manage in the application layer and write to 2 different databases at the same time. Example: DB1 has T1, T2 and T3 - these are constantly being updated by the application, APP1 running on DB1. DB2 needs to have an updated copy of T1 at all times, also, there is a different application, APP2 runs only on DB2. Both DB1 and DB2 are located on the same instance, INST1. Would it be possible to replicate T1, T2 and T3 from DB1 to DB2 ? Thanks, Idan.
