• Deploying BlackBerry Applications Across Environments

  Has anyone come up with a good solution for deploying BlackBerry applications across different environments? My example is storing URLs and Authentication information in code. In most cases, a developer is going to have a different set of URL's to test against when developing the application vs what the end user is going to hit. The idea is when I go to build for production, I have something swap out the environment settings for the target environment vs manually replacing environment specific code each time. I am currently using eclipse. The only thought I've come up with so far would be to use a resource with encrypted values and have that swap when I run my build. Any ideas?

• rsync synchronizing files only without creating folders on destination

  Is it possible with rsync to not create directories on destination? Imagine I have that source : a/ a/x.txt b/ b/y.txt And that I have this destination : a/ a/z.txt The wanted result of rsync source destination : a/ a/x.txt a/z.txt Of course my real situation involves thousand files/folders structure and I don't want solutions involving explicit list of synced folders, which I can do. I'm looking for a clean way just to prevent any folder creation on destination. By exclude or filtering... That could even be something outside rsync, like a hack with permissions if rsync can't do this... For information, this is really easy to get this kind of situations, in my case I have: A server with 2 disks, let's say A & B. And a local drive C. I usually use rsync to sync (and merge) remote A & B into local C. Then sometimes I just want to sync back some C files into A and B. (Just new Files... not non-existing folders on destination)

• New Vaio laptop, performing a fresh install

  I just purchased a new Sony Vaio laptop (z-series) but being a bit of a power user I really want to get rid of the software which is installed on it. I can go through the Programs and Features and manually select each item I want to get rid of, but it's a really tedious process. I'd much prefer to have a clean Windows install which I can then tweak from the get go. But it doesn't appear that I received a Windows 7 install disc (I bought it through a large reseller so it isn't dodgy as far as I know). I do have the Windows 7 licence key on my laptop underside, will this be valid if I use a Windows 7 install disc from work? Or should I have the Windows 7 disk and I need to go back to the reseller?

• Make Codeigniter ignore directory

  I have Codeigniter installed and working for my main site. But I am now trying to add an add-on domain to the same hosting account, so I can have two sites running on the same hosting. Add-on domains make a new folder in the main public_html folder to store the web files. How can I get Codeigniter to ignore this directory? The site doesn't load properly when I try and view it. I have an SSL on the main site too and redirection for www URLS. • Why isn't my favicon appearing in IE7/8?

It will not appear in IE 7/8 no matter what I do! I've tried everything I can think of, including: generating the ICO with a variety of different utilities, changing the syntax of the favicon link elements in the document head, using absolute, relative, and root-relative URLs in the favicon link elements, using a PNG instead of an ICO file, ensuring that I am uploading the file via FTP in binary mode, As a longtime web developer/programmer, I can't believe that this is tripping me up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• dhcp client service won't start

  I have a Laptop with 2 network interfaces and neither will get an IP address through dhcp. I found out that the dhcp client service didn't start. Upon manually starting it gives the error 2: File not found. I have checked that the files were there (both svchost and dhcpcore .dll), the local service account has read access to the system32 folder, the path in the registry is also correct and I can access the file. I have tried to netsh winsock reset and ip reset all. I have even added the local service account to the administrators group. sfc /scannow also came up clean. I have no idea what else I can try. Any suggestions are welcome. (side note it's a windows 7 32 bit, atheros wlan, deinstalled avira before any of the other troubleshooting)

• InnoDb Overhead?

  I just converted several large tables from MyISAM to InnoDB. When I view the tables in phpMyAdmin, they are showing a significant amount of overhead (One table has 6.8GB). Optimizing the tables (which isn't a supported command on InnoDB) has no affect like it does on MyISAM. Is this a result of InnoDB having the ever growing data file that never returns space even after deletes? If that's the case, I've never seen overhead like this before from other InnoDB tables. • How to activate Windows 8 Pro license with Releae Preview installed?

  So I'm one of the many who downloaded the Release Preview (64-bit). I now got the ISO to install Windows 8 Professional (64-bit) and a product key (note: I didn't get these from either Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant or Microsoft's web Store), everything legal. However, the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant only gives me the option to Store my personal files which means that I'll have to say goodbye to both my Program Files and their respective configurations. I just want to input the Product Key and activate the license, why isn't this possible? Even "Add Features to Windows 8" doesn't accept the key. Do I really need to backup all of my stuff and make a clean install?

  I'm working on this big website and I want to put it online before its fully finished... I'm working locally and the database is getting really big so I wanted to upload the website and continue to work on it in the server, but allowing people to enter, so I can test. The question is if this is good for SEO, I mean, there are a lot of things SEO related that are incomplete.. For example: there are no friendly URLs, no sitemap, no .htacces file, lot of 'in-construction' sections... Does Google will penalize me forever? How does it works? Google indexes adn get the structure of the site just once or its constantly updating and checking for changes??? What i should do? What you recommend?!!?

Redirect to below: https://blogurl.com/content/news/2014-08-19/post-3451/mt-preview-33e2742af1eb.php I basically want to insert /content/ after https://blogurl.com and so far I have rewrite ^(.*)$ /content/ break; But my issue is my CMS sits on the same directory level https://blogurl.com/mt/admin and if I simply apply the rewrite above my CMS address would move too. How could I prevent this.

  I was recently given an HP Proliant Server from a friend as a gift. It has Windows Server 2003 installed on it. When I go to boot the system however to log in to Windows Server 2003 it requires an Admin password. I can't figure out the password and my friend doesn't know it either as it has been years since hes used the machine. I don't care about any of the data on the machine I just want to have a new clean version of Windows server 2003 running on it. Any advice would be helpful? And no I don't want to pay for a password cracking tool. Thanks

• Replacing backslashes in Python strings

  I have some code to encrypt some strings in Python. Encrypted text is used as a parameter in some urls, but after encrypting, there comes backslashes in string and I cannot use single backslash in urllib2.urlopen. I cannot replace single backslash with double. For example: print cipherText '\t3-@\xab7+\xc7\x93H\xdc\xd1\x13G\xe1\xfb' print cipherText.replace('\\','\\\\') '\t3-@\xab7+\xc7\x93H\xdc\xd1\x13G\xe1\xfb' Also putting r in front of \ in replace statement did not worked.   I am using automongobackup to, well, automate the backups of mongodb. output from the script (to STDERR) has the following exceptions (but the backup completes, and the dump files are created) ###### WARNING ###### STDERR written to during mongodump execution. Why would automongobackup report connection errors, even tho it does create the dump files, yet a straight call to mongodump does not? • Internet Explorer8 on Windows 7 - file download results in "C:\ location not accessible."

  Ok, an odd problem. For one user on a Windows 7 x64 system, attempting to download a file with Internet Explorer 8 results in a error "C:\ location not accessible. Access is denied." even though the target location is not on the C:\ drive. No other users have the problem and no other browsers do. The user does not remember deleting any folders recently, and it looks like no new software has been installed. A checkdisk comes up clean. Any ideas? • Way around ASP.NET session being shared across multiple tab windows

  I'm storing some value in an asp.net session on the first page. On the next page, this session value is being read. However if multiple tabs are opened and there are multiple page 1-page 2 navigation going on, the value stored in session gets mixed up since the session is shared between the browser tabs. I'm wondering what are the options around this : Query String: Passing value between the pages using query string, I don't want to take this approach since there can be multiple anchor tags on page 1 linking to page 2 and I can not rewrite the URLs of each tag since they are dynamic. Cookies??? In-memory cookies are shared across browser tabs too, same as the session cookie, rite ? Any other option?

• Facebook Like button data for a domain?

  We make a widget for media sites and have included the Facebook Like button, so anyone who installs our widget gets the Like button on every page without having to do additional integration work. We'd like to show the site owner some basic data / analytics about Like activity... which URLs are liked, and how many times. I can't figure out if this is even available via the Graph API or FQL. If it is, I can't tell if I need an app_id and secret token for each domain or not. Any suggestions?

• RAID 5 heavy IO hard freezes Ubuntu: Why?

  I have a software RAID 5 partition on LVM in Ubuntu (desktop, actually, but I'm using it as a server). I have been rsyncing a ton of data to it, and the computer was hard freezing, as in I needed to press "Reset". So I thought it was rsync. But I decided I'd try a dd if=/dev/zero of=/path/to/raid5 and sure enough, the computer locked up. Did an identical dd to a JBOD partition on the same machine, and it didn't crash. Assuming a clean RAID5 partition, tri-core processor 2GB of ram, 6GB swap, what could be causing this?

  I've been reading up on message queueing lately, and I'd like to implement a simple, extendable, system for my app. While there's a lot of good information on the subject of setting up a MQ system out there, I can't find a lot about the actual implementation. I'm looking for patterns and best practices on how to properly format messages for a queue, and ways to execute the jobs in PHP. Should I use JSON, serialized objects, text, URLs or XML? What information should I send? Is a worker with a switch($job['command']) {} (or something like that) the way to go, or are there any established patterns out there to implement a worker? • Fusion 3, Windows 7, frequent blue screens

  Is anyone else seeing this problem? A solution would be great (hey, it's Windows, it's gonna blue screen, just gotta deal with it), but it's also nice to know if it's something specific to my configuration, or if a lot of folks are having the same issue. Here's the details: * MacBook Pro 15" unibody, 4 GB, 2.4 GHz, 10.5.8 * Fusion 3.0.1 * Windows 7 Pro, 32-bit (clean install, not migrated from Boot Camp or anything) Blue screens happen nearly every time the MBP cover is closed for a short period of time (< 3 minutes). If the cover is closed for a half hour or longer, the VM is fine. I'm guessing it might be related to sleep, but that's hard to tell, and the Windows crash dump logs are pretty useless. Thanks!

• Hyper-v dynamic memory client machines always use maximum memory

  When I create a virtual machine in Hyper-V and set it up to use dynamic memory, the virtual machine will always use the maximum memory within the virtualized OS. Hyper-V will show the assigned memory at 514mb, but when I log into the server and pull up task manager, it will show 90% memory used. When I bump the maximum memory up to 4gb, I get the same result: 90% memory usage. Nothing is even running on the virtual machine other than a clean instal of Windows Server 2008 R2. I have also tried it with Windows 7 with the same results. Is this the expected behavior or is something setup wrong

• Trying to reinstalling .net framework 4 on windows server 2003 SP2

  I had a problem with an application that was using .net framework 4. So I tried to fix the installation but it didn't solved. So I proceed to uninstall the framework and install it again. But then the problems started... the setup just wouldn't finish to download the framework. So i tried the full installer, and then it got stuck (freezes) at "installing client profile"... The server works well but the installation progress bar just stays at the same place (but the "wheel" keeps turning, like it was doing something, but stays like this for hours...) I tried the .net clean unistall software but the problem remains. I'm all out of ideas... I've searched the web but couldn't solve the problem with any solution I found... Any ideas on how to force the installation?

• Drupal: FileFields... internal server error

  hi, I've moved my drupal installation to new server and the website works. HOwever I get an "internal server error" for each file field in my nodes. In other words, images and videos are not loaded. In Firebug, Net Tab I can see they cannot be retrieved from the server because of "internal server error". The only thing I changed with respect to the previous installation is commenting the following 2 lines in .htaccess # Don't show directory listings for URLs which map to a directory. #Options -Indexes # Follow symbolic links in this directory. #Options +FollowSymLinks Is this the issue ? How can I solve this ? thanks

Lets say I have 4 URLs http://www.anydotcom.com/test/search.cfm?metric=blah&selector=size&value=1 http://www.anydotcom.com/test/search.cfm?metric=blah2&selector=style&value=1 http://www.anydotcom.com/test/search.cfm?metric=blah3&selector=size&value=1 http://www.anydotcom.com/test/details.cfm?metric=blah&selector=size&value=1 I want to create an expression that will identify any URL that contains the string selector=size but does NOT contain details.cfm I know that to find a string that does NOT contain another string I can use this expression: (^((?!details.cfm).)*$) But, I'm not sure how to add in the selector=size portion. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
