  • Parallel scroll textarea and webpage with jquery

    This is both a conceptual and how-to question: In wiki formatting, or non WYSIWYG editor scenarios, you typically have a textarea for content entry and then an ancillary preview pane to show results, just like StackOverflow. This works fairly well, except with larger amounts of text, such as full page wikis, etc. I have a concept that I'd like critical feedback/advice on: Envision a two pane layout, with the preview content on the left side, taking up ~ 2/3 of the page, and the textarea on the right side, taking up ~ 1/3 of the page. The textarea would float, to remain in view, even if the user scrolls the browser window. Furthermore, if the user scrolls the textarea content, supposing it has exceeded the textarea's frame size, the page would scroll so that the content presently showing in the textarea syncs/is parallel with the content showing in the browser window. I'm imagining a wiki scenario, where going back and forth between markup and preview is frustrating. I'm curious what others think; is there anything out there like this? Any suggestions on how to attack this functionality (ideally using jquery)? Thanks

    Given, when a user requests /foo on my server, I send the following HTTP response (not closing the connection): Content-Type: multipart/x-mixed-replace; boundary=----------------------- ----------------------- Content-Type: text/html <a href="/bar">foo</a> When the user clicks on foo (which will send 204 No Content so the view doesn't change), I want to send the following data in the initial response. ----------------------- Content-Type: text/html bar How would could I get the second request to trigger this from the initial response? I'm planning on possibly creating a fancy [engines that support multipart/x-mixed-replace (currently only Gecko)]-only email webapp that does server-push and Ajax effects without any JavaScript, just for fun.

  • Umbraco template issues

    Hi fellow Umbraco users, I'm currently building my first umbraco website and since I'm completely new to umbraco I've already ran into a problem which I'm sure is pretty straight-forward to do. That said, I'm by no means a beginner when it comes to building sites that run on a (open source) CMS as I've been using Joomla! since it was called Mambo. Anyway, the site I'm building is here: my site What I want to do is to have some content in the white box that changes when you mouseover/hover one of the menu items. Also that content has to stay "active" when you've clicked on a link (i.e. if you click on "Profile" I need to highlight the Profile menu item with the gray color and the white boxs content needs to be what would be related to the Profile menu item. How do I go about this? What would be the best practice when it comes to showing multiple content on a site? I've watched the video about multiple Content Place Holders, but I never really got it to work. I can't get a page to display in the NavigationPlaceHolder (the placeholder I put in the white box), but thats because the actual page is Frontpage.aspx and not WhateverIsInThenavigationPlaceHolder.aspx. If I go to the mysite.dk/WhateverIsInTheNavigationPlaceHolder.aspx it shows up fine. What have I missed here? :) Thanks in advance!   • jQuery working in everything but IE7. (checked my commas)

    The following code works in IE8, FF, Safari, Chrome etc. (not bothering with IE6 for this one), but doesn't work in IE7. I've been through the code with a fine tooth-comb. Checked the commas, messed around with ; but it's not going anywhere. I'm using the jQuery Validate and Uploadify scripts. Can anyone see the problem here?   • Working with images in asp.net MVC ViewMasterPage in design mode

    While designing a master page i am adding a number of images to it. I have an image tag inside the master page, <img src="../../Content/Images/img19.jpg" class="profileImage" /> When i run my app, the image doesn't show up in the browser because the src path in the page that browser gets is same as in the master page. ie. "../../Content/Images/img19.jpg" But it should have been "Content/Images/img19.jpg" If i correct the src path in master page as <img src="Content/Images/img19.jpg" class="profileImage" /> Then I can see the image in the browser but not in design mode. Any help is appreciated.

    I would like to display different tooltip content for each of the areas defined in an image-map. Are there any jQuery plug-ins that have an API well-suited to use with image-maps? I would like it also be be flexible with regard to where the tooltip content comes from, e.g. the content might be contained in an anchor element of an invisible iframe or it might come from a database.   • Zend Layout and Bootstrapping

    So i'm using the standard Zend Layout for my site. I have a number of custom controllers and views, and the content of these pages is displayed, but the details in the head element of the layout.phtml are not shown. Do i need to manually associate the Zend_Layout with each specific controller?. I expected since the layout is loaded via the bootstrap this should be available for free.   • How to float a <div> echoed in the footer over a <div> located elsewhere (PHP/jQuery/HTML/CSS)

    Hello All! I'm embarking on a major project, but am stuck on a tiny issue at the very start. I'll try to be as concise as possible. I have a PHP script that will be echoing into the footer of the page (the last stuff before a bunch of s containing visible buttons and s containing hidden dialog boxes. The plan is to have the buttons float in the upper-right corner of corresponding s in the main content area of the page. i.e. - button-1 echoed into the footer will float in the corner of content-box-1, and will be tied to the hidden 'dialog-1'. I'll be using jQuery and jQuery UI Dialog throughout the page(s). I'm not sure if that's particularly relevant to this question, but thought it worth mentioning just in case. So my question, put simply, is how do I echo a Button 1 into the footer with PHP, but have it float in the upper-right corner (with maybe 5px margin) of Content 1 is full of content? A picture says a thousand words: As shown above, I want the little blue gear button things in the corner of content pieces, locked and loaded with hidden s containing dialog boxes. Again, the catch is that all buttons and hidden divs will be the very last items echoed into the page footer. I've found plenty of info on how to float divs on top of divs, but all the examples I saw showed the s in close proximity to each other in the page source; not with a hundred lines of source code between the two s I'm not sure if the solution is pure CSS, pure jQuery/jQueryUI or a combination of the two. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks!

    In My ViewModel class I have a property: class ViewModel { public string FileName {get;set;} } and in my View I bind a label's content to ViewModel's FileName. now When I do drag-drop a file to my View, How can I update the label's Content property, so that the ViewMode's FileName also get updated via binding? Directly set the label's Content property won't work, it just simply clear the binding.

  • ASP.Net MVC vs ASP.Net for Complex workflows

    I have just become involved in migrating a series of complex workflows with InfoPath UIs to Web-based UIs. I am new to ASP.Net MVC but have started to evaluate it as the technology versus classic ASP.Net for the job. As is typical of most workflows, in each state there are a number of business rules that determine (a) who can view what content; (2) who can edit what content; (3) what the user action options might be (Edit; Reject; Approve), etc. In essence, there is a lot of logic that needs to be applied to each request before presenting the appropriate view. Being more experienced in ASP.Net, I know that presenting the form(s) as required can be easily achieved through code behind pages (enable / disable / hide fields). I have not seen how this can be achieved with ASP.Net MVC (but am realising that new thinking is required of me when working with MVC - ‘Give only the content on a particular View + limited user action options’). Therefore, if using ASP.Net MVC, it looks like I would need to create a lot of views. Much of the content in each view would be the same. Only field enabled status or buttons would differ in most instances for these views in each state. For example: Step01Initiate (‘Has Save’ button); Step01OriginatorView (has ‘Edit’ Button) ; Step01OriginatorEdit (has ‘Save’ button); Step01Review (has ‘Accept’ / ‘Reject’ buttons); Step01ReviewReject (for reviewer notes; has ‘Save’ / ‘Cancel’ buttons). With workflows of up to six states, this would result in a lot of views. I can see the advantages of choosing ASP.MVC (1) ‘thin’ Views in terms of content; and (2) with logic consolidation in Controllers and different Models. Am I thinking along the right lines in terms of applying the MVC – ‘plenty of views’; or is there a better way to achieve my goal (using ASP.Net MVC or classic ASP.Net)?

And I wish that if I'm at index of the homepage the header is rendering with some content, but all other controllers render another content inside that header. How can I make a condition in that header div to render different content based on the controller that's being rendered?

I can set a tooltip for each column showing its content using a style, so I get the "country" as tooltip when hooverinmg over the "country" column and so on. But I did not succeed 1) to show the content of "country" when hoovering over "city" 2) to show the content of some other property (not even displayed in the datagrid) when hoovering the datagrid Any clues?   • Python Post Upload JPEG to Server?

    It seems like this answer has been provided a bunch of times but in all of it, I'm still getting errors from the server and I'm sure it has to do with my code. I've tried HTTP, and HTTPConnection from httplib and both create quite different terminal outputs in terms of formatting/encoding so I'm not sure where the problem lies. Does anything stand out here? Or is there just a better way?     Hi guys, I'm having trouble with one particular issue, I was hoping someone could help me out. I've completed the MVC Music Store tutorial, and now I'm trying to add some administrator functionality - practice as I will have to do this in an MVC application in my job. The application is using the aspnet membership api, and what I have done so far is created a view to list the users. What I want to be able to do, is click on the users name in order to change their password. To try and carry the username to the changeUserPassword controller (custom made). I registered a new route in the global.asax.cs file in order to display the username in the URL, which is working so far. This is in order to pass it through to enable me to reset the password. Having debugged through the code, it seems that 'username' is null. How can I get this to work so that the username carries over from the Html.RouteLink, to the changeUserPassword action?   • html horizontal scrolling

    Please I am trying to assign each button on the left its own Tab control.     Can a PAGE override the priority of a NODE? I want to use the power of "Pages" to override my links from the nodes... For example: A nodes link is /content/202/hello-world I want to use my Panels to use the URL to create a "PAGE"... The panels can use the arguments from the URL to create a pretty cool page around the content of a node... So the PAGE path I've made is /content/%argument1/%title... I need the links created to the node from the node itself to go to this panel page and not to the content created by the node on its own... so i make the path alias do the same as the PAGE settings... /content/nid/title... A hand typed in link to this PAGE works fine when I dont have this as the path alias... It does exactly what I need... but as soon as I make this the Path Alias, it's like it goes to the single NODE before it goes to the PAGE... Anyone have any clues... Is there an order which Drupal looks for the correct URL? Im sure I have done this before. JD
