Fluent NHib causing visual studio 2010 hanging at runtime

Just installed and migrated a 2008 solution on Vista ultimate 64 and .net 4.0. Everything builds and tests run surprisingly well but I got the hang description below while trying to run the app under SQLite. It turns out that the hang has got something to do when the call is made for FNH to build the session factory during a run, the only feedback I get is that the database wasn't configure properly without any inner exception. The strange part is that the exact code works perfectly under tests. Any clues? Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. Does anyone know if there is an equivalent in Common.Logging (for .Net) to set properties for the log4net factory adapter? I am using the Rest Singleton WCF Service temple from the Rest Starter Kit. The temples uses sample item as its sample Item. i am attempting to replace that sample ITem with a custom type from web reference in my ASP.Net project .dll. unable to inject seam cache provider

Env: Seam 2.2, ehcache-core 2.1.0 I tried injecting the CacheProvider using the following call in my bean scoped for session @In CacheProvider cacheProvider; WEB-INF\components.xml contains the following line to enable the cache provider <cache:eh-cache-provider/> The above configuration seems to return a null value for the cache provider Using the cache provider like this CacheProvider cacheProvider = CacheProvider.instance(); throws the following warning 15:29:27,586 WARN [CacheManager] Creating a new instance of CacheManager using the diskStorePath "C:\DOCUME~1\user5\LOCALS~1\Temp\" which is already used by an existing CacheManager. The source of the configuration was net.sf.ehcache.config.generator.Configuratio nSource$DefaultConfigurationSource@15ed0f9. The diskStore path for this CacheManager will be set to C:\DOCUME~1\user5\LOCALS ~1\Temp\\ehcache_auto_created_1276682367586. IPsec Policy Agent flip-flopping demand start/auto start in Windows Server 2008?

Looking through the event logs on my web server I noticed a strange pattern. The following events have been occurring over and over again, always back to back: The start type of the IPsec Policy Agent service was changed from demand start to auto start. The start type of the IPsec Policy Agent service was changed from auto start to demand start. Each one produces event id 7040 from the Service Control Manager. And sometimes this will happen 20 times in one minute. Any idea what would cause this? I've been trying to pinpoint an intermittent performance problem for the past several days and this is the most peculiar thing I've found so far. I'm running Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, and ASP.NET 3.5 w/ MVC 1.

So, here's the list of problems I have: By default the messages.properties (Czech) should load, instead the messages_en.properties loads by default. In the web form, when I enter Czech data, then click submit, in the Controller I print out the data in the console before to save it to db, what's being printed is not correct having strange chars, and this is the exact data that saves to db. I don't know where's the mistake! Why can't I get it working although I did what people did and worked for them! don't know.. I have some providers, say - <Providers> <Provider Type="Providers.IM" Name="Im"/> <Provider Type="Providers.Web" Name="Web"/> ... </Provider> Each of these providers can give me a session : <Sessions> <Session Name="GoogleIM" Provider="Im" URL="..." /> <Session Name="YahooIM" Provider="Im" URL="..." /> <Session Name="YahooWeb" Provider="Web" URL="..." /> ... </Session> Currently, I instantiate "named" sessions by looking at the provider, instantiating the type, and injecting the URL (manually). I could use a session factory, which would probably have to understand the url and return a proper session. Is there a way to handle this more elegantly/simply with ninject/autofac?

Using Shiro we have a great security framework embedded in our enterprise application running on GF. You define users, roles, permissions and we can control at any fine-grain level if a user can access the application, a certain page or even click a specific button. Is there a recipe or pattern, that allows on top of that, to restrict a user from seeing certain data ? Sample: You have a customer table for 3 factories (part of one company). An admin user can see all customer records, but the user at the local factory must not see any customer data of other factories (for whatever reason). CPU fan twitching phase leds blinking - computer won't boot

I have a big problem that I got today. Yesterday computer was "on" normally, I went to sleep without shutting it down. When I woke up, I heard a strange sound and was unable to bring it up from hibernate. I unplugged the PSU. When I plugged the PSU back in, the sound came back. When I opened the case, I saw the fan "twitching" like it is about to start and fan LEDs were blinking. Also, motherboard LEDs were blinking in the same pattern - the first green one has more of luminosity then others. When I cut down the power with 0/1 button on PSU, the fans continue to make sounds like the machine is trying to boot before the capacitors run out and the power dies. Does anyone have a clue what to do? I tried disassembling everything but that doesn't work. I will try with friend's PSU later today.

NHibernate mapping one table on two classes with where selection

We would like to map a single table on two classes with NHibernate. The mapping has to be dynamically depending on the value of a column. Here's a simple example to make it a bit clearer: We have a table called Person with the columns id, Name and Sex. The data from this table should be mapped either on the class Male or on the class Female depending on the value of the column Sex. In Pseudocode: create instance of Male with data from table Person where Person.Sex = 'm'; create instance of Female with data from table Person where Person.Sex = 'f'; The benefit is we have strongly typed domain models and can later avoid switch statements. Is this possible with NHibernate or do we have to map the Person table into a flat Person class first? Then afterwards we would have to use a custom factory method that takes a flat Person instance and returns a Female or Male instance. Would be good if NHibernate (or another library) can handle this.

Computer Flashes Out?

We have a strange problem with our computers at my school. They are all Latitude 2100 Netbooks. At random points (I can't seem to find a pattern) the screen will turn a single color (red, green, black, brown, etc.) To fix this, the computer must be put to sleep, and brought back up. They have integrated graphics, but I can't imagine that if it was a bug with the computer itself, that every single computer would do this. Is there any way I could find out the problem that's causing this. Some diagnostic tool? Thanks. Edit: Forgot, they all have windows.

Trying to deploy a Kohana based project in CentOS 5. Installed PHP 5.3.1 but still getting the following error. What program is making this sound and how can I make it stop

Some program is intermittently making this weird "chook ... chick" sound, no more than every 5 minutes, but sometimes hours or days between making it. There seems to be no pattern as to when it happens, but the sound is definitely coming from the speakers, and is always the same, so I'm pretty confident some piece of software I'm running is playing the sound. Today, I managed to record it, and I've posted it here: http://tristanhavelick.com/chook-chick.mp3 Short of closing my programs one by one, and seeing if the sound continues, are there any tricks for tracking down a problem like this? Is there any software that can trace what sounds come from what programs (something like tcpview with waveforms)? I am running windows xp.

i am not sure if this is the correct way of doing but i read that you not suppose to have a WCF Service Library reference in your web form project rather you add endpoints to your web.config, is that true? here is what i have done: 1) create a WCF service library project 2) create a simple service called "MyService.svc" WebForm: 1) Create a web project 2) create a WCF Service and in it i have this code <%@ ServiceHost Language="C#" Service="WCFJQuery.ContactBLL.Implementation.ContactUs" Factory="System.ServiceModel.Activation.WebScriptServiceHostFactory" %> 3) right click on the web proejct and "Add Reference" and add teh MyService.dll reference from WCF service library project. is this something how you suppose to do?

Third monitor randomly defaults to 640 x 480 on startup

I purchased a PowerColor HD 5770 video card so I could get a third monitor working. I have two widescreen monitors, one attached via HDMI and the other attached via DVI. My third monitor is attached from DisplayPort to VGA (using a passive connector like this one) The third monitor is a 19" Hyundai L90D. I was unable to find any Windows 7 (or Vista for that matter) drivers for the monitor, so it's stuck with "Generic Non-PNP Monitor". It's native resolution is 1280 x 1024. Randomly Windows will boot up in the correct native res, but sometimes it boots up in 640 x 480 res. When it does boot up into 640 x 480 res, the screen resolution slider is stuck and I cannot slide it back to 1280 x 1024. I cannot find a pattern for when or why it will do this, I've tried rebooting five or six times in a row at times to get it to boot into native res, but this doesn't always work.

Is there a dictionary about common programming vocabulary?

When I need a name for a new class that extends behaviour of an existing class, I usually have hard time to come up with a name for it. For example, if I have a class MyClass, then the new class could be named something like MyClassAdapter, MyClassCalculator, MyClassDispatcher, MyClassParser,... This new name should of course represent the behaviour of the class and would ideally be same as the design pattern in which it is used (Adapter, Decorator, Factory,...). But since we don't overuse design patterns, this is not always the solution :) So, do you know for a dictionary or a list of common words, that we can use to represent the behaviour of the class, containing a short description of the expected behaviour? Some examples: replicator, shadow, token, acceptor, worker, mapper, driver, bucket, socket, validator, wrapper, parser, verifier,... You could also look at this list as a cheat sheet for metaphors, with which you can better understand your problem domain.

I bought a motherboard that supports DDR3 RAM

I bought this ASUS Sabertooth X58 motherboard from http://msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=7301 But I'm not sure what DDR3 RAM to buy. I haven't built a PC from scratch in about 3 years, and I'm wondering the following Do DDR3 ram chips need to be installed in three at a time? Or can I just install one or two now and install more later without any particular pattern? If I buy 2000MHz RAM from Corsair, will that work at 1866 MHz? (which is the highest frequency the motherboard supports) Is it just me or is 1866 RAM not around? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Rails shoulda and factory_girl setup

I have installed both shoulda and factory_girl, I can run shoulda just fine, but when I add this: require 'factory_girl' Factory.define :user do |u| u.mail '[email protected]' u.pass 'secret' end to my test/test_helper.rb I'm getting this error: /test/test_helper.rb:1:in `require': no such file to load -- factory_girl (LoadError) when I execute rake test:units I have installed both gems using: sudo gem install thoughtbot-shoulda --source=http://gems.github.com sudo gem install thoughtbot-factory_girl --source=http://gems.github.com and can see both of them being installed fine. And by the way, this works fine as well: script/console Loading development environment (Rails 2.3.8) require 'factory_girl' = [] so requiring the gems seems to be working
