  • jquery html attribute not working in IE

    - by Gopal
    I am using country and state dropdowns in my form. Whenever the user selects the country in the dropdown, the respective states of the country will populate in the states dropdown. I am populating the states in the dropdown using ajax call. The problem is that the states get populated in Mozilla but it doesnt work in IE. I guess there is some problem in jquery while loading the states in the states dropdown. The jquery code i am using is $('select#edit-country').change(function(e) { $.getJSON("loadContactUsStates",{id: $(this).val(), ajax: 'true'}, function(j){ var options = ''; for (var i = 0; i < j.length; i++) { options += '<option value="' + j[i].optionValue + '">' + j[i].optionDisplay + '</option>'; } <!-----I guess the problem is with the below line------------------> $("select#edit-state").html(options); })//end json });

  • Real-time data on webpage with jQuery

    - by Steven Hepting
I would like a webpage that constantly updates a graph with new data as it arrives. Regularly, all the data you have is passed to the page at the beginning of the request. However, I need the page to be able to update itself with fresh information every few seconds to redraw the graph. Background The webpage will be similar to this http://www.panic.com/blog/2010/03/the-panic-status-board/. The data coming in will temperature values to be graphed measured by an Arduino and saved to the Django database (this part is already complete). Update It sounds as though the solution is to use the jQuery.ajax() function ( http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/) with a function as the .complete callback that will schedule another request several seconds later to a URL that will return the data in JSON format. How can that method be scheduled? With the .delay() function?

  • In PHP, how do I add 3 months to the purchase date retrieved from the iPhone InApp receipt?

    - by Cocoanut
After I have validated the receipt against the App Store from my PHP server, the App Store sends me back a JSON response with "status" : 0 "receipt" : ( .... ) One of the receipt items is "purchase_date" which contains the following string (example) "2010-02-09 19:17:04 Etc/GMT" I'm trying to establish a subscription service and would like to add 3 months to this date and then write that expiry date into a MySQL table. Is there a string-to-date type function in PHP that can allow me to achieve the adding of 3 months? I have found this example which looks like it adds 1 month to a date: $date = date("Y-m-d");// current date $date = strtotime(date("Y-m-d", strtotime($date)) . " +1 month"); But I'm not sure how I can turn the string passed by the App Store into a PHP recognised date.

  • ItemFileWriteStore: how to change the data?

    - by jeff porter
Hi, I'd like to change the data in my dojo.data.ItemFileWriteStore. Currently I have... var rawdataCacheItems = [{'cachereq':'14:52:03','name':'Test1','cacheID':'3','ver':'7'}]; var cacheInfo = new dojo.data.ItemFileWriteStore({ data: { identifier: 'cacheID', label: 'cacheID', items: rawdataCacheItems } }); I'd like to make a XHR request to get a new JSON string of the data to render. What I can't work out is how to change the data in the "items" held by ItemFileWriteStore. Can anyone point me in the correct direction? Thanks Jeff Porter

  • Critiquing my first Python script

    - by tipu
A little bit of background: I'm building an inverted index for a search engine. I was originally using PHP, but because of the amount of times I needed to write to disk, I wanted to make a threaded indexer. There's a problem with that because PHP is not thread safe. I then tried Java, but I ended up with at least 20 try catch blocks because of the JSON data structure I was using and working with files. The code was just too big and ugly. Then I figured I should pick up some Python because it's flexible like PHP but also thread safe. Though I'm open to all criticism, what I'd like to learn is the shortcuts that the Python language/library provides that I skipped over. This is a PHP-afide Python script because all I really did was translate the PHP script line by line to what I thought was it's Python equivalent. Thanks. http://pastebin.com/xrg7rf9w

  • Haskell as REST server

    - by Dev er dev
I would like to try Haskell on a smallish project which should be well suited to it. I would like to use it as a backend to a small ajax application. Haskell backend should be able to do authentication (basic, form, whatever, ...), keep track of user session (not much data there except for username) and to dispatch request to handlers based on uri and request type. It should also be able to serialize response to both xml and json format, depending on request parameter. I suppose the handlers are ideally suited for Haskell, since the service is basically stateless, but I don't know where to start for the rest of the story. Searching hackage didn't give me much hints.

  • Looking for Suggestion on Multi-Consumer Service Development

    - by DaveDev
How would I model a system that needs to be able to provide content in a format that would be consumable by iphone, Android or web browser (or whatever). All a new consumer would have to do is build a UI with rules on how to handle the data. I'm thinking something RESTful returning JSON or something. I'm really looking for suggestions on the kinds of things I'd need to learn in order to be able to implement a system on this scale. As an ASP.NET MVC developer, would that be the best framework/archetectrue to go with? Thanks

  • WCF: parameters handled in custom channel not present in generated WSDL.

    - by vfilby
I have some special parameters to all my wcf service methods that are handled inside a custom channel and are not exposed in the service method parameter list. This works fine for json/xml endpoints, but the I don't know how to use a SOAP endpoint with this setup because the generated WSDL doesn't include fields that are not in the service call parameter list. Is there a way I can centralize the handling of the special parameters that apply to all service methods (authentication, locale and other contextual information) and provide a SOAP endpoint that Just Works (tm)? Hand editing wsdl files is not an option.

  • ajax response byte size

    - by Alex Pacurar
Im using jQuery's getJSONP and I want to log the duration of the call and the size of the response to be able to have some statistics about the usage of my application. This is a cross domain ajax call, so I need to use JSONP, but as the JSONP call is not done with an XMLHttpRequest object, the complete callback from jquery's ajax doesnt pass the response content. So my question is how to get the response size (content lenght) from a JSONP call. $.ajaxSetup( { complete:function(x,e) { log(x.responseText.length, x.responseText); } } here x is a XMLHttpRequest object for a JSON call , but for JSONP call is undefined.

  • JQuery or javascript to find memory usage of page

    - by Tauren
Is there a way to find out how much memory is being used by a web page, or by my jquery application? Here's my situation: I'm building a data heavy webapp using a jquery frontend and a restful backend that serves data in JSON. The page is loaded once, and then everything happens via ajax. The UI provides users with a way to create multiple tabs within the UI, and each tab can contain lots and lots of data. I'm considering limiting the number of tabs they can create, but was thinking it would be nice to only limit them once memory usage has gone above a certain threshold.

  • Can I use the whatthetrend.com API to get daily and weekly twitter trends?

    - by Charles S.
The twitter API allows me to receive daily trends and weekly trends (in addition to current trends, of course) as either JSON or XML. Is there an equivalent with the whatthetrend.com API? I don't see a method/parameter at first glance but I wanted to see if anyone out there knew a way... http://api.whatthetrend.com/api There's a method to lookup trend definition by keyword so I guess I could use that based off the Twitter API but I'd rather just load all the data at once rather than have to remotely access the API every time I want to look up a definition. Thanks

Hello everyone! I am looking for client-side javascript plugin for jquery(prefered, or maybe other framework) or other javascript framework, that implements dynamic, interactive user interface (fig. 1) Requirements: 1) user interface shall be dynamic (client-side, javascript). 2) the displaying of the next control shall be dependent on input of previous control(s) 3) the dependency shall be implemented in declarative form (settings, mapping, xml...) 4) this scope of controls shall be supported: dropdown list - fixed list (static, list of items has fixed scope of items) edit input (loop-up) - dynamic list, dependent on user input dropdown list - fixed list (dynamic, list of items dependent on previous input) static structure controls to display dynamic data. 5) this scope of dependencies shall be implemented: one-way: one to one one-way: one to many 6) this scope of dependency actions shall be implemented: hide (remove) control show (add) control show disabled set default value 7) controls shall be filled in by using ajax requests to the server-side application (json, xml...) Any thoughts, references, I would appreciate any assistance. Fig. 1. Interactive user interface

  • Is it possible to use JSONP on the server?

    - by Denis Hoctor
Hi all, I'm stuck on a clients host that has medium trust setup which blocks cross domain requests and need data from a 3rd party domain. I now have the option to use JSONP. I've used JSONP from the client with jQuery to get around the browsers cross domain security and I've used HttpWebRequest in ASP.Net 3.5. Is it possible to use JSON on the server and if so how? I don't think it is, but worth asking seeing as I already have this app written server side.... Thanks, Denis

  • Google chrome extension: local storage

    - by Rohan
Hi there I'm developing an extension for Google Chrome, and have run into some trouble.I created an options.html page and added it to the manifest.json file. The page shows properly. I saved the options, and then went back to the page on which the extension is supposed to run. Unfortunately, the Local storage for the options was returning a 'null' instead of the option. If I set the local storage option directly from the extension's JS script, it works fine but not if it was set from the options page. Any idea how i can access the options.html local storage values from my Javascript file in the extension? thanks!

  • Bluimp file upload send data to the server on .fileupload

    - by MyName
OK I've Googled...Googled and Googled again with no avail on how I can send data to the server like an ajax call's data option for the file upload: $('#file_upload').fileupload({ dataType: 'json', url: "@(Url.Action("UploadFiles", "ExcelUpload"))", // formData: function(form) { return [{ name: "dataTable", value : "@(Model)"}];}, progressall: function (e, data) { $(this).find('.progressbar').progressbar({ value: parseInt(data.loaded / data.total * 100, 10) }); }, done: function (e, data) { BadFile(e, data); } }); controller would look something like this: [HttpPost] public ContentResult UploadFiles(Mytype param1, MyType Param2) { .. } I want to do something similar to this: $.ajax({ url: "@(Url.Action("Action", "Controller"))", type: "post", data: { param1: value, param2: @(Model) } }); On the fileupload callback. Is this possible? How can I pass values to the ServerSide? Should I switch to a different uploader..? Please help me out! I need to resolve this as soon as possible.

  • Entity-attribute-value model using codeigniter / php

    - by John Stewart
SO I am trying to create a way to structure my database to be able customize forms. I looked into EAV pattern and here is my db structure: Table form - form_id - form_name - form_added_on - form_modified_at Table: form_fields - field_id - form_id - field_type (TEXT, RADIO etc..) - field_default_value - field_required Table: form_data - data_id - field_id - form_id - field_value so now I can store any custom form into the database and if I want to get the values for an individual form I can simply join it by "form_id" .. the problem: I want to be able to search through all the forms for a specific field value. How can I do that with EAV model? Also, I thought about just storing the custom data as a serialized (JSON) object but then I am not sure how can I query that data. Please note that I am using Codeigniter with MYSQL. So if conversation can use Codeigniter libraries if needed.

  • How to align centre a custom label in highcharts

    - by Chrissy
See a jsfiddle example I am trying to align the custom label in the /labels/items JSON element to hang right under the title and subtitle. Playing with firebug I can alter the SVG text element for the label and add text-align='middle' and change the x='' attribute to have the same value as the title's x attribute. This makes it perfectly align under the title and stay there when resized but I can't figure out how to make the highcharts library generate this source. Maybe there is a better way to add another label under the subtitle?

  • Definitive best practice for injecting, manipulating AJAX data

    - by Nic
Ever since my foray into AJAX, I've always used the "whatever works" method of manipulating AJAX data returns. I'd like to know what the definitive and modern best practice is for handling data. Is it best practice to generate the HTML via the server script and introduce the returned data on the onComplete function? Should XML/JSON be looked at first before anything? How about manipulating the returned data? Using .live() doesn't seem like it is the most efficient way. I've never seen a definitive answer to this question. Your expertise is much appreciated.

  • Easiest way to pass a javascript array or its values to a servlet and convert to a HashMap

    - by Ankur
I have a Javascript array. I want to pass it's data to a servlet using the ajax() method of jQuery. What is the easiest way to do this. The index values i.e. the i in array[i] are not in order, they are numbers that have meaning themselves, hence I cannot simply loop through and create a GET queryString, or so I believe. Maybe I should be converting the JavaScript array to a JSON Object and sending that to the server ?? I am stumped on this one.

  • jQuery templates - Load another template within a template (composite)

    - by Saxman
    I'm following this post by Dave Ward (http://encosia.com/2010/12/02/jquery-templates-composite-rendering-and-remote-loading/) to load a composite templates for a Blog, where I have a total of 3 small templates (all in one file) for a blog post. In the template file, I have these 3 templates: blogTemplate, where I render the "postTemplate" Inside the "postTemplate", I would like to render another template that displays comments, I called this "commentsTemplate" the "commentsTemplate" Here's the structure of my json data: blog Title Content PostedDate Comments (a collection of comments) CommentContents CommentedBy CommentedDate For now, I was able to render the Post content using the code below: Javascript $(document).ready(function () { $.get('/GetPost', function (data) { $.get('/Content/Templates/_postWithComments.tmpl.htm', function (templates) { $('body').append(templates); $('#blogTemplate').tmpl(data).appendTo('#blogPost'); }); }); }); Templates <!--Blog Container Templates--> <script id="blogTemplate" type="x-jquery-tmpl"> <div class="latestPost"> {{tmpl() '#postTemplate'}} </div> </script> <!--Post Item Container--> <script id="postTemplate" type="x-jquery-tmpl"> <h2> ${Title}</h2> <div class="entryHead"> Posted in <a class="category" rel="#">Design</a> on ${PostedDateString} <a class="comments" rel="#">${NumberOfComments} Comments</a></div> ${Content} <div class="tags"> {{if Tags.length}} <strong>Tags:</strong> {{each(i, tag) Tags}} <a class="tag" href="/blog/tags/{{= tag.Name}}"> {{= tag.Name}}</a> {{/each}} <a class="share" rel="#"><strong>TELL A FRIEND</strong></a> <a class="share twitter" rel="#">Twitter</a> <a class="share facebook" rel="#">Facebook</a> {{/if}} </div> <!-- close .tags --> <!-- end Entry 01 --> {{if Comments.length}} {{each(i, comment) Comments}} {{tmpl() '#commentTemplate'}} {{/each}} {{/if}} <div class="lineHor"> </div> </script> <!--Comment Items Container--> <script id="commentTemplate" type="x-jquery-tmpl"> <h4> Comments</h4> &nbsp; <!-- COMMENT --> <div id="authorComment1"> <div id="gravatar1" class="grid_2"> <!--<img src="images/gravatar.png" alt="" />--> </div> <!-- close #gravatar --> <div id="commentText1"> <span class="replyHead">by<a class="author" rel="#">${= comment.CommentedBy}</a>on today</span> <p> {{= comment.CommentContents}}</p> </div> <!-- close #commentText --> <div id="quote1"> <a class="quote" rel="#"><strong>Quote this Comment</strong></a> </div> <!-- close #quote --> </div> <!-- close #authorComment --> <!-- END COMMENT --> </script> Where I'm having problem is at the {{each(i, comment) Comments}} {{tmpl() '#commentTemplate'}} {{/each}} Update - Example Json data when GetPost method is called { Id: 1, Title: "Test Blog", Content: "This is a test post asdf asdf asdf asdf asdf", PostedDateString: "2010-12-20", - Comments: [ - { Id: 1, PostId: 1, CommentContents: "Test comments # 1, asdf asdf asdf", PostedBy: "User 1", CommentedDate: "2010-12-20" }, - { Id: 2, PostId: 1, CommentContents: "Test comments # 2, ghjk gjjk gjkk", PostedBy: "User 2", CommentedDate: "2010-12-21" } ] } I've tried passing in {{tmpl(comment) ..., {{tmpl(Comments) ..., or leave {{tmpl() ... but none seems to work.   • How to cache and store objects and set an expire policy in android?

    - by virsir
I have an app fetch data from internet, for better performance and bandwidth, I need to implement a cache layer. There are two different data coming from the internet, one is changing every one hour and another one does not change basically. So for the first type of data, I need to implement an expire policy to make it self deleted after it was created for 1 hour, and when user request that data, I will check the storage first and then goto internet if nothing found. I thought about using a SharedPrefrence or SQLDatabase to store the json data or serialized object string. My question is: 1) What should I use, SharedPrefrence or SQLDatabase or anything else, a piece of data is not big but there are maybe many instances of that data. 2) How to implement that expire system.
