  Hello everyone, I'd like to setup postfix as an MTA for 2 domains, about 10 users each. I'm a bit confused with the documentation. Postfix has so many options for mail delivery. I'd like to have a simple file where I would store all the email addresses (and possibly their corresponding mailboxes). I wouldn't like neither system's passswd file nor mysql to be used for storing email users. What parts of documentation I should be focused on?

• Router as primary DNS server, Server as alternate? (or vice versa)

  We have a very small business network, with a typical cable modem hooked into a DD-WRT router. We also run a basic CentOS server that does a variety of things, including acting as the primary DNS server for the office. The reason we need an internal DNS server is because we do a lot of internal web development and use the DNS server to add/remove various local network URLs for internal website testing (like www.testsite.com.local). It's very important for us to be able to add/remove URL aliases easily to the DNS. The problem with this setup is that if we ever need to restart the CentOS server or take it offline for upgrades or whatever, then internet access for all computers on the network is lost. That's because each computer relies on that DNS server to access the Internet I guess? The router is online all the time and very very rarely has to be restarted. It would be nice if we could setup my router to be the primary DNS server but still be running DNS on my server. So we could still add my local testing website URLs to the DNS server in CentOS, but be able to also take down the CentOS server without loosing Internet access on the network. How would this be setup? Would I simply need to add both router + server IP addresses to each computer's IP settings? Is the router primary DNS and server secondary DNS server? Or vice versa? Or can one of the two serve as a fallback for the other? What (if anything) needs to be configured on both the router and server in order for them to recognize that the other DNS server exists on the network? Does anyone have any newb-friendly resources for setting up something like this?

• Remote Desktop connection to vista vs. xp

  I am trying to log into my work computer remotely. I am using Windows 7 on my laptop. I have created a vpn connection to the network, and I am doing a remote desktop connection directly to the ip of my box (192.168.xxx.yyy). If I do a remote connection to a different box, running xp, it goes into remote desktop mode immediately and I see the windows login dialog as I am used to seeing. If I try remoting to my box, which is running vista, I do not see the remote desktop mode, but an additional dialog on my local machine asking for my credentials. It defaults in my local username. It allows me to log in as a different user, but the domain it has is still my local domain, not my work domain, so none of my usernames or passwords work. There doesn't appear to be a way to change the domain. Trying to hit several more boxes, it appears to act differently on xp and vista target machines. I feel like this must be a configuration issue, but I am not sure what the problem is. Any idea on how I can connect?

  We have just moved our server configs to a Git repository. Therefore there should not be any changes in any of the repository folders. I was thinking about how I could set up a cron job to check for any uncommited changes. How could a cron job be set up to check for changes in a Git repository? Greping the output of the git status command might just do it. Grep and cron jobs are not my strong side. Here are some sample outputs from git status: Standing the folder containing the git repository (e.g. /path/gitrepo/) with changed files: $ git status # On branch master # Changes not staged for commit: # (use "git add <file>..." to update what will be committed) # (use "git checkout -- <file>..." to discard changes in working directory) # # modified: apache2/sites-enabled/000-default # # Untracked files: # (use "git add <file>..." to include in what will be committed) # # apache2/conf.d/test no changes added to commit (use "git add" and/or "git commit -a") Standing in the folder when there is no changes: $ git status # On branch master nothing to commit (working directory clean) Update: Synced up with origin is not important. There should be no local changes. Local files that must be in place go into the .gitignore file. In addition to the server configs there are also git repos for content (static web sites, web apps, wordpress, etc). None of the repositories should have local changes. We might use Puppet in the long run since its being used for development of one of the web apps.

• How to set up multi users on dev server with git and github

  I'm working on lamp application. We have 2 servers (Debian) Live and Dev. I constantly work on dev main to add new features and fix bugs. When happy all works well I scp the relevant code to the Live system. Database (mysql) is local to each machine. Now this is pretty basic setup really and I want to improve the workflow a bit. I use git and github for version control. Admittedly I've only really used one branch. Their can be 3 different developers who work on the code at different times. We all use the same linux username to connect to the dev server and edit the code directly when needed. I usually then commit and push the code at the end of the day to github. One thing to bare in mind is it isn't easy to run this code on a local machine as there are many apache and subdomain configurations that wouldn't work on a local machine so it is important to work on the dev server not locally. I need to create a new process because we need to have a main trunk now and a branch with a big code re-write. What is the best way to do this. Should I create different unix logins for each developer and set up different working areas on the dev server for there changes? e.g. /var/www/mysite_derek /var/www/mysite_paul /var/www/mysite_mike my thinking is they can do a pull from the main branch and then create there own branch and merge it back in. I'm not sure how this will work though with git locally and with github. will i need to create different github user accounts as well. I'd like to do this the 'right' way and future proof for having lots of potential developers but I also don't want to over complicate it. I simple and elegant solution is preferred. any recommendations or suggestions?

• Understanding where an amazon ec2 instance run?

  I am currently using the aws api from my local desktop. I can successfully take backups of my amazon volumes, and even create an ami from it. Now when i wanted to run the instance to be built from this ami, where does the instance run? In their Elastic Cloud or the computer from which the command was issued. Suppose I want to create the new instance in a new region? (locations as defined in ec2-describe-regions) How would I do that? It seems i have a bad knowledge about how the relation between amazon volumes and instances? Please explain it. I am only allowed to use the CLI tools to do all of my work. I made a new snapshot of the existing instance, made an ami using ec2-register, made a keypair, and then followed these steps, http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/launching-an-instance.html#launching-an-instance-cli but i got an error as this Client.InvalidParameterValue: The requested instance type's architecture (i386) does not match the architecture in the manifest for aki-fc37bacc (x86_64) my local computer is 32bit. But I do not want to load instance on the local computer but on amazon servers?

• Create DFS replica from a NAS drive

  We have two offices, at two different locations. In one we have a NAS, with some shares. We also have a Domain Controller using Windows 2003 R2. We have setup a second Domain Controller using Windows 2003 R2 to put that in the second office. What we would also like is to replicate the NAS drive onto the second Domain Controller so in the second office they have a local copy, and that their changes are replicated back to the NAS. Is there a way to setup DFS replication to do this? Or will it only work with local folders on each Server? Update 1 Sept Base on the answer below, I think I need to add some clarification. The real issue is that the NAS which hosts the shared folder that we want to replicate is external to both servers. And we have a particular share mapped to say S: . In the replication setup it doesnt seem to accept network shares external to the server to be candidates for replication. I can understand why, I just need confirmation that DFSR will only work with block devices that are local on at least one server. Is this the case?

• Understanding Netbook Partitions & UNR Installation

  Hi all, I have a Samsung N120 netbook (with upgraded 2GB RAM). I'm just looking at the Disk Management right now (in Windows XP) and I'm trying to understand what partition holds what. There is "Local Disk (C:)" which is 40GB, "RECOVERY" (no drive letter) which is 6GB and then "TEMP_PART01 (D:)" which is 103.05GB. XP is installed on Local Disk (C:) and I've only used this hard drive for all my files, etc. Recovery is recovery... probably not removable anyways. Now, what bugs me is the TEMP_PART01 (D:) partition, which contains quite a bit of random junk, such as EULA text documents, an "external installer", UI Wrapper Resource DLLs, a "VC_RED" Windows Installer Package and a few more files. I have no clue what any of it means, but I'm assuming that this was probably stuff that could have been on the Local Disk (C:), along with the WINDOWS, Program Files, and Docs and Settings folder. So, how should I go about this? Should I have kept all my data on D: and left all OS related files/folders on C:? Now, I want to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Question is, will this install within Windows, if I want to dual boot it? If not, would I partition D: into two small chunks, one on which I would install UNR? There are basically two questions in here, but it'd be great to get answers for both! Thanks in advance.

• VPN: Disable class based route addition for Windows XP/Vista

  Paraphrasing this SuperUser link: When you set up a VPN, the Windows default is to enable "Use default gateway on remote network." A new default route is added to the routing table pointing to the remote network's gateway, and the existing default route has its metric increased to force all Internet traffic to traverse the tunnel and use the remote network's gateway. All traffic uses the VPN, and traffic destined for the outside world is directed to the remote gateway. When the VPN drops, the route to the remote gateway is removed and the original default route is set back to the original metric. Unchecking "use default gateway on remote network" means that new default route isn't added, so Internet traffic goes out the local gateway, but a new classful route is added to the routing table, using the local adapter's IP, pointing down the VPN. Only traffic destined for the classful network of the local adapter goes down the VPN. This may not be what you want. Checking "Disable class based route addition" means that classful route isn't added to your machine when the VPN starts up, and you'll need to add the appropriate routes for networks that should be routed through the tunnel. But, the option "Disable class based route addition" is available ONLY for Windows 7. How can I do something like that for Windows XP or Vista since they don't have that option? I have searched about for that but, no solution yet.

• Secure Standalone Server Plus Firewall Unit [closed]

The thing is, it needs to be a secured case (locked unit) that has proper airflow and we can have power and networking cables coming out of the back. We've googled far and wide and have only been able to find 'hard case' units that offer some level of security but they are extremely bulky and require freight delivery.   I have a DataGrid with one column using a UserControl via a styled DataGridTemplateColumn. I can't seem to get the UserControl to 'see' the object that is in it's containing DataGridCell though. What kind of bindings can I create on the TextBox in my UserControl so that it can look up and see that object?!   I am trying to capture the content of the WebBrowser control. DrawToBitmap() would work perfectly, but it is not supported in documentation for the WebBrowser control. I have been trying to find another way to capture the contents of the WebBrowser control and save them to a local image file. Anyone have any workarounds or other methods to save the contents of the WebBrowser control to a local image file?

  I am trying to run a headless test for a web application using WebDriver on Mac OS X 10.6.3. My plan is to run firefox-x11 with Xvfb, but WebDriver is unable to launch firefox-x11.   Hello, I am trying to create a simple chat client using the red5 media server, but I seem to be having a slight hiccup. I am creating a shared object on the server side, and it seems to be creating it successfully. However, when I make changes to the object via the client (type a message), the SYNC event fires, but the content within the shared object remains empty.   Hi, I'm looking for an example Spring MVC 2.5 web app that I can easily: Setup as a project in Eclipse Deploy to a local app server (using Ant/Maven) There are a couple of example applications included with the Spring distribution ('petclinic' and 'jpetstore'), but they don't provide any Eclipse project files (or a way to generate them).   Hi all, I got ruby 1.8.7 (native compiled), rails 2.3.4, OSX 10.6.2 and also sqlite3-ruby. The error I'm getting when accessing the rails app is NameError: uninitialized constant SQLite3::Driver::Native::Driver::API History: I upgraded to snow leopard by migrating my apps with a FW-cable from my old macbook to the new one. Everything was running perfectly for months, but Yesterday I needed to install watir, which was dependant on rb-appscript, which didn't build due a "wrong architecture" error in libsqlite3.dylib. I figured the build was made on the old machine, so i wanted to rebuild sqlite3-ruby: $ sudo gem uninstall sqlite3-ruby $ sudo gem install sqlite3-ruby Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing sqlite3-ruby: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. /usr/local/bin/ruby extconf.rb checking for fdatasync() in -lrt... no checking for sqlite3.h... yes checking for sqlite3_open() in -lsqlite3... no * extconf.rb failed * Could not create Makefile due to some reason, probably lack of necessary libraries and/or headers. Check the mkmf.log file for more details. You may need configuration options. It seems like the sqlite3 libs are not working properly. I've tried to install macports sqlite3 (sudo port install sqlite3) and use that instead, but with same result... so i rebuild sqlite3 from scratch.. download-configure-make-make install. After that, the gem now builds perfectly, but doesn't work in rails, giving the error in the top of this article. I'm not really sure where to go from here because I've tried the following Rebuild sqlite3 from newest source (http://www.sqlite.org/download.html) Reinstalled sqlite3-ruby (sudo gem uninstall sqlite3-ruby && sudo gem install sqlite3-ruby) Used sqlite3 from macports (sudo port install sqlite3 && sudo gem install sqlite3-ruby) Reinstalled rails (sudo gem install rails sqlite3-ruby ) and updated environment.rb to rails 2.3.5. No avail, I still get this error: NameError: uninitialized constant SQLite3::Driver::Native::Driver::AP from /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.5/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:105:in const_missing' from /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/sqlite3-ruby-1.2.5/lib/sqlite3/driver/native/driver.rb:76:in open' from /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/sqlite3-ruby-1.2.5/lib/sqlite3/database.rb:76:in `initialize' Btw, I have Xcode installed from the Snow Leopard CD.   I have a WindowsXP configured as a build machine. The build process runs under an account which isn't an administrator. Some projects register as a last step an ocx control with something like regsvr32 /s /c ".\debug\myocx.ocx" This step fails and I assume that this has something to do with rights because doing the same under an admin account works fine. What rights/permissions/policies do I need to give the build account and where do I do it? (Browsing Local Users and Groups and Local Security Settings haven't helped me)

  I have a custom module and I have a working grid to menage the module items in the admin. My module file structore is : app\code\local\G4R\GroupSales\Block\Adminhtml\Groupsale\ I want to add an edit form so I can view and edit each item in the grid.
