  • iPhone not returning to application after calling eMail send

    - by Bill
    I am sending an email from within my iPhone application. The eMail page pops up ok, I click on the Send button, the iPhone plays a whoosh sound, and the eMail actually arrives at the recipient. Unfortunately, the mail dialog still sits there unresponsive, and the only option - to click the home button - kills the app. Is there something else that needs to be specified to close the eMailMessage view? MFMailComposeViewController *eMailMessage; NSArray *toAddress; if ([MFMailComposeViewController canSendMail]) { toAddress = [NSArray arrayWithObject:@"[email protected]"]; eMailMessage = [[MFMailComposeViewController alloc] init]; [eMailMessage setToRecipients:toAddress]; [eMailMessage setSubject:@"Notification"]; [eMailMessage setMessageBody:@"Performed by ..." isHTML:NO]; [self presentModalViewController:eMailMessage animated:YES]; [eMailMessage release]; }

  • Using Kal calendar without doing the initialization (and so on) in the AppDelegate

    - by testing
    I'm using the Kal calendar. For the code shown below I'm referring to the Holiday example. In this example the allocation and initialization of Kal is done in the applicationDidFinishLaunching in the AppDelegate. The UITableViewDelegate protocol (e.g. didSelectRowAtIndexPath) is also positioned in the AppDelegate class. The AppDelegate: #import "HolidayAppDelegate.h" #import "HolidaySqliteDataSource.h" #import "HolidaysDetailViewController.h" ## Heading ###import "Kal.h" @implementation HolidayAppDelegate @synthesize window; - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { kal = [[KalViewController alloc] init]; kal.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"Today" style:UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered target:self action:@selector(showAndSelectToday)] autorelease]; kal.delegate = self; dataSource = [[HolidaySqliteDataSource alloc] init]; kal.dataSource = dataSource; // Setup the navigation stack and display it. navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:kal]; [window addSubview:navController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } // Action handler for the navigation bar's right bar button item. - (void)showAndSelectToday { [kal showAndSelectDate:[NSDate date]]; } #pragma mark UITableViewDelegate protocol conformance // Display a details screen for the selected holiday/row. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { Holiday *holiday = [dataSource holidayAtIndexPath:indexPath]; HolidaysDetailViewController *vc = [[[HolidaysDetailViewController alloc] initWithHoliday:holiday] autorelease]; [navController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; } #pragma mark - - (void)dealloc { [kal release]; [dataSource release]; [window release]; [navController release]; [super dealloc]; } @end I don't want to put this into the AppDelegate, because there could be some overlapping code with other views. It should be a separate "component" which I can call and put on the stack. In my navigation based project I have a main view, the RootViewController. From there I want to push the Kal view on the stack. Currently I'm pushing an additional ViewController on the stack. In the viewWillAppear method from this ViewController I do the things shown in the code above. The following problems appear: Navigation back has to be done two times (one for the Kal calendar, one for my created view) Navigation to my main view is not possible anymore In the moment I don't know where to put this code. So the question is where to put the methods for allocation/initialization as well as the methods for the UITableViewDelegate protocol.

  • Core Data confusion: fetch without tableview.

    - by Mr. McPepperNuts
    I have completed and reproduced Core Data tutorials using a tableview to display contents. However, I want to access an Entity through a fetch on a view without a tableview. I used the following fetch code, but the count returned is always 0. The data exists when the database is opened using SQLite tools. NSManagedObject *entryObj; XYZDelegate *appDelegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext = appDelegate.managedObjectContext; NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Quote" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"id" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [request setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; [request setEntity: entity]; NSArray *results = [managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:request error:nil]; if (results == nil) { NSLog(@"No results found"); entryObj = nil; }else { NSLog(@"results %d", [results count]); } [request release]; [sortDescriptors release]; count returned is always 0; it should be 5. Can anyone point me to a reference or tutorial regarding creating a controller not to be used with a tableview.

  • iPhone: Setting Navigation Bar Title

    - by Arthur Skirvin
    Hey all. I'm still pretty new to iPhone development, and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to change the title of my Navigation Bar. On another question on this site somebody recommended using : viewController.title = @"title text"; but that isn't working for me...Do I need to add a UINavigationController to accomplish this? Or maybe just an outlet from my UIViewController subclass? If it helps, I defined the navigation bar in IB and I'm trying to set its title in my UIViewController subclass. This is another one of those simple things that gives me a headache. Putting self.title = @"title text"; in viewDidLoad and initWithNibName didn't work either. Anybody know what's happening and how to get it happening right? Thanks!

  • Can't access annotation property of subclassed uibutton - editted

    - by Tzur Gazit
    Below is my original question. I kept investigating and found out that the type of the button I allocate is of type UIButton instead of the subclassed type CustomButton. the capture below is the allocation of the button and connection to target. I break immediately after the allocation and check the button type (po rightButton at the debugger console). It's turned out tht the type is UIButton instead of CustomButton. CustomButton* rightButton = [CustomButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeDetailDisclosure]; [rightButton addTarget:self action:@selector(showDetails:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; I have a mapView to which I add annotations. The pin's callout have a button (rightCalloutAccessoryView). In order to be able to display various information when the button is pushed, i've subclassed uibutton and added a class called "Annotation". @interface CustomButton : UIButton { NSIndexPath *indexPath; Annotation *mAnnotation; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSIndexPath *indexPath; @property (nonatomic, copy) Annotation *mAnnotation; - (id) setAnnotation2:(Annotation *)annotation; @end Here is "Annotation": @interface Annotation : NSObject <MKAnnotation> { CLLocationCoordinate2D coordinate; NSString *mPhotoID; NSString *mPhotoUrl; NSString *mPhotoName; NSString *mOwner; NSString *mAddress; } @property (nonatomic, assign) CLLocationCoordinate2D coordinate; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mPhotoID; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mPhotoUrl; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mPhotoName; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mOwner; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mAddress; - (id) initWithCoordinates:(CLLocationCoordinate2D)coordinate; - (id) setPhotoId:(NSString *)id url:(NSString *)url owner:(NSString *)owner address:(NSString *)address andName:(NSString *)name; @end I want to set the annotation property of the uibutton at - (MKAnnotationView *)mapView:(MKMapView *)pMapView viewForAnnotation:(id )annotation, in order to refer to it at the button push handler (-(IBAction) showDetails:(id)sender). The problem is that I can't set the annotation property of the button. I get the following message at run time: 2010-04-27 08:15:11.781 HotLocations[487:207] *** -[UIButton setMAnnotation:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x5063400 2010-04-27 08:15:11.781 HotLocations[487:207] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[UIButton setMAnnotation:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x5063400' 2010-04-27 08:15:11.781 HotLocations[487:207] Stack: ( 32080987, 2472563977, 32462907, 32032374, 31884994, 55885, 30695992, 30679095, 30662137, 30514190, 30553882, 30481385, 30479684, 30496027, 30588515, 63333386, 31865536, 31861832, 40171029, 40171226, 2846639 ) I appreciate the help. • data not reloading into tableview from core data on minor update

    - by Martin KS
    I've got a basic photo album application, on the first view a list of albums is displayed with a subtitle showing how many images are in each album. I've got everything working to add albums, and add images to albums. The problem is that the image count lines are accurate whenever the app loads, but I can't get them to update during execution. The following viewdidload correctly populates all lines of the tableview when the app loads: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // Set the title. self.title = @"Photo albums"; // Configure the add and edit buttons. self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; addButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemAdd target:self action:@selector(addAlbum)]; addButton.enabled = YES; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = addButton; /* Fetch existing albums. Create a fetch request; find the Album entity and assign it to the request; add a sort descriptor; then execute the fetch. */ NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Album" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [request setEntity:entity]; // Order the albums by name. NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"albumName" ascending:NO]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [request setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; // Execute the fetch -- create a mutable copy of the result. NSError *error = nil; NSMutableArray *mutableFetchResults = [[managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:request error:&error] mutableCopy]; if (mutableFetchResults == nil) { // Handle the error. } LocationsAppDelegate *mainDelegate = (LocationsAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; // Set master albums array to the mutable array, then clean up. [mainDelegate setAlbumsArray:mutableFetchResults]; [mutableFetchResults release]; [request release]; } But when I run similar code inside viewdidappear, nothing happens: { /* Fetch existing albums. Create a fetch request; find the Album entity and assign it to the request; add a sort descriptor; then execute the fetch. */ NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Album" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [request setEntity:entity]; // Order the albums by creation date, most recent first. NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"albumName" ascending:NO]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [request setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; // Execute the fetch -- create a mutable copy of the result. NSError *error = nil; NSMutableArray *mutableFetchResults = [[managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:request error:&error] mutableCopy]; if (mutableFetchResults == nil) { // Handle the error. } LocationsAppDelegate *mainDelegate = (LocationsAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; // Set master albums array to the mutable array, then clean up. [mainDelegate setAlbumsArray:mutableFetchResults]; [self.tableView reloadData]; [mutableFetchResults release]; [request release]; } Apologies if I've missed the answer to this question elsewhere, but what am I missing?

  • Moving a Ball on iPhone

    - by Chandan Shetty SP
    I am using below formula to move the ball circular, where accelX and accelY are the values from accelerometer, it is working fine. But the problem in this code is mRadius(I fixed its value to 50), i need to change mRadius according to accelerometer values and also i need bouncing effect when it touches other circles please send your answers ASAP... I am waiting. float degrees = -atan2(accelX, accelY) * 180 / 3.14159; int x = cCentrePoint.x + mRadius * cos(degreesToRadians(degrees)); int y = cCentrePoint.y + mRadius * sin(degreesToRadians(degrees)); Here is the snap of the game i want to develop. http://iphront.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/bdece528ea334033.jpg.jpg

  • Defined outlets, connected them, everything looks fine, nothing works.

    - by Tom
    Hi! I'm trying to play with a WebView. I made an outlet: IBOutlet UIWebView *browser; Defined it as a property: @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWebView *browser; Synthethized it: @synthesize browser; Finally, I connected it in Interface Builder, really it is. Then I try to do something with it i.e.: [browser loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://apple.com"]]]; Or also: Etape *etape = [[Etape alloc] init]; NSString *html = [etape generateHTMLforEtape:[current_etape objectAtIndex:0]]; [browser loadHTMLString:html baseURL:nil]; [etape release]; I get no errors, I tried to Build & Analyse, no notices or warnings or errors.. I've been searching for one whole day, please help me :/ Thanks a lot! EDIT: Here's screenshots of my connections for my WebView:

  • Generating a Grid of NSTextField Objects From NSDictionary Items

    - by SteveStifler
    I'm trying to create an vocabulary study application using Obj-C and the Cocoa frameworks. I have about two week's experience in both areas and have reached an edge of my current knowledge. Here's where I'm stuck. When I press a checkbox, a corresponding plist is loaded into memory as an NSDictionary. I want to generate a "Label: Textfield" pair for each key:value pair, where the Label is the key. When the text typed into the Textfield matches the key's value, I want the Label's text to turn green. So how would I generate this grid, and once generated, how would I make the text green upon correct input? Thanks!

  • Parsing a simple XML from string in Cocoa?

    - by Nick Brooks
    I have a simple XML and I need to get the first 'id' from puid-list. I found lots of examples but none of them quite do that because of the namespace. How do get the id out as an NSString? <genpuid songs="1" xmlns:mip="http://musicip.com/ns/mip-1.0#"> <track file="/htdocs/test.mp3" puid="0c9f2f0e-e72a-c461-9b9a-e18e8964ca20"> <puid-list> <puid id="0c9f2f0e-e72a-c461-9b9a-e18e8964ca20"/> </puid-list> </track> </genpuid>

    I know how to change the state of the regular button, as well as change the background color of a regular button. However, what I have is a image lay on top of a button (customized button). I want, when the user click on it, something visually would happen to let the user know that button is selected, and when the user click again it go back to the regular state. I try to change the background of the button, but it doesnt work since the image kind of cover the button. Any idea?

  • Custom UIProgressView drawing weirdness

    - by Werner
    I am trying to create my own custom UIProgressView by subclassing it and then overwrite the drawRect function. Everything works as expected except the progress filling bar. I can't get the height and image right. The images are both in Retina resolution and the Simulator is in Retina mode. The images are called: "[email protected]" (28px high) and "[email protected]" (32px high). CustomProgressView.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface CustomProgressView : UIProgressView @end CustomProgressView.m #import "CustomProgressView.h" @implementation CustomProgressView - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { self = [super initWithFrame:frame]; if (self) { // Initialization code } return self; } // Only override drawRect: if you perform custom drawing. // An empty implementation adversely affects performance during animation. - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // Drawing code self.frame = CGRectMake(self.frame.origin.x, self.frame.origin.y, self.frame.size.width, 16); UIImage *progressBarTrack = [[UIImage imageNamed:@"progressBarTrack"] resizableImageWithCapInsets:UIEdgeInsetsZero]; UIImage *progressBar = [[UIImage imageNamed:@"progressBar"] resizableImageWithCapInsets:UIEdgeInsetsMake(4, 4, 5, 4)]; [progressBarTrack drawInRect:rect]; NSInteger maximumWidth = rect.size.width - 2; NSInteger currentWidth = floor([self progress] * maximumWidth); CGRect fillRect = CGRectMake(rect.origin.x + 1, rect.origin.y + 1, currentWidth, 14); [progressBar drawInRect:fillRect]; } @end The resulting ProgressView has the right height and width. It also fills at the right percentage (currently set at 80%). But the progress fill image isn't drawn correctly. Does anyone see where I go wrong?

  • how to create static line in coreplot

    - by Rémi Bédard-Couture
    I am trying to make my control lines static so instead of being displayed as part of the graph(the control lines are moving with the graph), they would be displayed like an axis the app can only scroll horizontally i'm talking about the two red line and the green line(which i put over the x axis) this is how i do my lines: // Center line CPTScatterPlot *centerLinePlot = [[CPTScatterPlot alloc] init]; centerLinePlot.identifier = kCenterLine; CPTMutableLineStyle *lineStyle = [CPTMutableLineStyle lineStyle]; lineStyle.lineWidth = 2.0; lineStyle.lineColor = [CPTColor greenColor]; centerLinePlot.dataLineStyle = lineStyle; centerLinePlot.dataSource = self; [graph addPlot:centerLinePlot]; but maybe it has something to do with the displayed range: ////////ajuste la portion a voir if(data.Resultats.count>10) { plotSpace.xRange = [CPTPlotRange plotRangeWithLocation:CPTDecimalFromDouble(data.Resultats.count - 10) length:CPTDecimalFromDouble(10)]; } plotSpace.yRange = [CPTPlotRange plotRangeWithLocation:CPTDecimalFromDouble(RangeMin) length:CPTDecimalFromDouble(RangeMax-RangeMin)]; // Adjust visible ranges so plot symbols along the edges are not clipped CPTMutablePlotRange *xRange = [plotSpace.xRange mutableCopy]; CPTMutablePlotRange *yRange = [plotSpace.yRange mutableCopy]; //place l'axe x sur la ligne de controle pour voir les WorkOrders x.orthogonalCoordinateDecimal = CPTDecimalFromDouble(center); //x.orthogonalCoordinateDecimal = yRange.location; //y.orthogonalCoordinateDecimal = xRange.location; //x.visibleRange = xRange; //y.visibleRange = yRange; //x.gridLinesRange = yRange; //y.gridLinesRange = xRange; [xRange expandRangeByFactor:CPTDecimalFromDouble(1.15)];//1.05 [yRange expandRangeByFactor:CPTDecimalFromDouble(1.15)]; plotSpace.xRange = xRange; plotSpace.yRange = yRange;
