  I fell into this trap earlier in the week with a mistake I made when configuring a service to send and listen on the azure service bus and I thought it would be worth a little note for future reference as I didnt find anything online about it.  After configuring everything when I ran my code sample I was getting the below error. WebHost failed to process a request.Sender Information: System.ServiceModel.ServiceHostingEnvironment+HostingManager/28316044Exception: System.ServiceModel.ServiceActivationException: The service '/-------/BrokeredMessageService.svc' cannot be activated due to an exception during compilation.  The exception message is: Generic: There was an authorization failure. • DSOFramer closing Excel doc in another window. If unsaved data in file, dsoframer fails to open with

  I'm using Microsoft's DSOFramer control to allow me to embed an Excel file in my dialog so the user can choose his sheet, then select his range of cells; it's used with an import button on my dialog. The problem is that when I call the DSOFramer's OPEN function, if I have Excel open in another window, it closes the Excel document (but leaves Excel running). If the document it tries to close has unsaved data, I get a dialog boxclosing Excel doc in another window. If unsaved data in file, dsoframer fails to open with a messagebox: "Attempt to access invalid address". I built the source, and stepped through, and its making a call in its CDsoDocObject::CreateFromFile function, calling BindToObject on an object of class IMoniker. The HR is 0x8001010a "The message filter indicated that the application is busy". On that failure, it tries to InstantiateDocObjectServer by classid of CLSID Microsoft Excel Worksheet... this fails with an HRESULT of 0x80040154 "Class not registered". The InstantiateDocObjectServer just calls CoCreateInstance on the classid, first with CLSCTX_LOCAL_SERVER, then (if that fails) with CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER. I know DSOFramer is a popular sample project for embedding Office apps in various dialogs and forms. I'm hoping someone else has had this problem and might have some insight on how I can solve this. I really don't want it to close any other open Excel documents, and I really don't want it to error-out if it can't close the document due to unsaved data. Update 1: I've tried changing the classid that's passed in to "Excel.Application" (I know that class will resolve), but that didn't work. In CDsoDocObject, it tries to open key "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{00024500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\DocObject", but fails. I've visually confirmed that the key is not present in my registry; The key is present for the guid, but there's no DocObject subkey. It then produces an error message box: "The associated COM server does not support ActiveX document embedding". I get similar (different key, of course) results when I try to use the Excel.Workbook programid. Update 2: I tried starting a 2nd instance of Excel, hoping that my automation would bind to it (being the most recently invoked) instead of the problem Excel instance, but it didn't seem to do that. Results were the same. My problem seems to have boiled down to this: I'm calling the BindToObject on an object of class IMoniker, and receiving 0x8001010A (RPC_E_SERVERCALL_RETRYLATER) "The message filter indicated that the application is busy". I've tried playing with the flags passed to the BindToObject (via the SetBindOptions), but nothing seems to make any difference. Update 3: It first tries to bind using an IMoniker class. If that fails, it calls CoCreateInstance for the clsid as a "fallback" method. This may work for other MS Office objects, but when it's Excel, the class is for the Worksheet. I modified the sample to CoCreateInstance _Application, then got the workbooks, then called the Workbooks::Open for the target file, which returns a Worksheet object. I then returned that pointer and merged back with the original sample code path. All working now.

• jQuery Toggle switch images

  Hi Guys, I have a situation where I am not understanding jQuery's Toggle. I have two buttons, both of them open the same content and when you click on either button the content should open or close and the attribute changes the button from open to closed. (So both buttons do the same function). Only thing is, when I click on the top button and it opens my content and then click on the lower button to close it, the image attributes are switched incorrectly.   Why only one nautilus window manager is opens when clicking on the 'Files' icon on the unity bar? I need to open two or more HomeFolder windows by clicking on the 'files' icon on the unity pane. I cannot create more than one nautilus window manager unless i tap superkey(windows key) and type homefolder,videos etc or typing the same in gnome-do. Is there any way to open more than one folders(Home folder, videos etc..) by clicking the 'files' icon on the unity bar??

  I've been playing with new URL monikers in Windows for a utility I'm working on. When I run the new URL from Start Run, it just runs. If I send the URL to myself via Notes or enter it into the IE address bar, I get a window which says: "Do you want to allow this website to open a program on your computer?" Program: UrlMonikerTest1 Address: urltest://ticket?param1=42&param2=Derf [CheckBox] Always ask before opening this type of address [Button] Allow [Button] Cancel Allowing web content to open a program can be useful, but it can potentially harm your computer. Do not allow it unless you trust the source of the content. What's the risk? Given that the utility will only run on internal machines to which it will be deployed using SCCM and to which I can apply Group Policy, can I disable this message for this application/URL moniker alone? The clients are currently XP. They will be Win7 at some point. We don't have to consider Vista.

• Why is Excel 2010/2013 taking 10 seconds open any file?

  I have a fast Windows 7 PC with two SSDs and 16GB of RAM, so I'm used to programs loading very fast. But recently, for no reason I can figure out, Excel has started taking way too long to open Excel files (of any size--even blank files). This is occurring with Excel 2010 and with Excel 2013 after I upgraded, hoping to solve the problem. Here a couple scenarios: If I start Excel directly, it opens almost instantly. No problem there. If I start Excel directly, and then open any Excel file (.xls or .xlsx), it loads almost instantly. Still no problem BUT if I attempt to open any Excel file directly, with Excel not running, it consistently takes 10-11 seconds for Excel to start. I get no error messages, just a spinning cursor for 10-11 seconds, and then the file opens. During the delay while Excel is trying to start, I'm not really seeing any discernible spike in CPU or memory usage, other than explorer.exe. This problem is only occurring with Excel, not Word or any other program I'm aware of. I've searched around quite a bit on this question and found various others who have experienced it, but the solutions that worked for them are not working for me. For a few people it was a problem with scanning network drives, but my problem is purely with local files; I have no network drives, and the problem persists even with all network connections disabled. Some people suggested worksheets with corrupted formulas or links, but I'm experiencing this with ANY Excel file: even blank worksheets. Others thought it was a problem with add-ins, but I have all Excel add-ins disabled (as far as I can tell). One person solved it by disabling a "clipboard manager" process that was running in the background, but I don't have that. I've disabled as many startup and background processes as I can, but the problem persists. I've run malware scans, disk cleanup, CCleaner, and installed Excel 2013. I've deleted temporary files, enabled SuperFetch, and edited registry keys. Still can't get rid of the problem. Any ideas? My system details: Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit, Excel 2013 32-bit, 16GB RAM, all programs installed on SSD.

  I have some old applications which are running on SCO Open Server 5.0.5, and i would love to move them to SCO Open Server 5.0.7 and on modern hardware(servers), currently am running SCO on old IBM PL 300 personal computer, on 92MB Memory, one processor, and it has been serving the clients pretty well. Now i have New Modern IBM xseries Servers and i would love to migrate the same applications to those new servers. Problem is, SCO 5.0.5 is unable to detect some of the hardware components in the new servers. I read somewhere that SCO 5.0.7 is able to detect the newer hardware even the USB ports etc. Is there anyone running SCO Openserver out there, and on what hardware architecture are they running on?   I receive the following sync error in Outlook 2007 SP2: Your server administrator has limited the number of items you can open simultaneously. Try closing messages you have opened or removing attachments and images from unsent messages you are composing. It is stopping me updating another user's calendar, which is open within my Outlook. Change are simply not syncing, either way. Is there a fix for this, e.g. increasing the number of permitted connections on the Exchange Server? We are using Exchange Server 2007 on a domain.

• How can I use a batch shortcut to open multiple Windows Explorer folders, and a Notepad file?

  I've recently built a computer with an SSD in it (my first) and am in the process of moving a select few of my Steam games to the SSD and symbolically linking them to where they're supposed to be on the main (mechanical) hard drive so that Steam doesn't throw a fit and I get maximum performance. To this end, I'm finding myself repeatedly navigating to both target folders to move the relevant files and opening a specific Notepad file to enter the relevant paths into a template I've got set up that I paste into the Windows command prompt to create the symlink. This is annoying. I've read up a little bit on batch shortcuts, and have a basic understanding on how to use one to open programs and files. However, I'm finding a lot of confusing suggestions on how to use batch shortcuts to open specific folders in Windows Explorer, and none of them deal with opening multiple folders at once. Any assistance on writing the shortcut would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

  My question is pretty simple and is actually stated in the title. One of my applications throws errors regarding "too many open files" at me, even tho the limit for the user the application runs with is higher than the default of 1024 (lsof -u $USER reports 3000 open fds). Because I cannot imagine why this happens, I guess there might be a maximum per process. Any idea is very appreciated!   I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird 9.0.1 with Lightning 1.1.1. Is there an easier way to import an ICS file attached to an email than saving it to disk, then in Calendar going to File -- Open? If I select "Open with Thunderbird" from the save dialog, it just opens a new mail message and attaches the file to it. (I did see this older question, but it refers to much older versions of Thunderbird and Lightning) Update: I've updated to 10.0 and 1.2, respectively and it still doesn't work right.   Ok, this is driving me crazy. My parents have 100s of old WPS documents from an ancient version of MS Works, and they just bought a new computer with MS Word 2010 Starter on it. I ap trying to set it up so that the default program to open the WPS files is MS Word, but there is no EXE anywhere in program files or programfilesx86. I opened up process explorer and tried to figure out where the executable for Word is, and it turns out it is on the Q drive... the same Q drive that seems to be inaccessible no matter what I try. I tried adding the exact address of Word, but if I try and set that on anything, it says that it cannot find the file. This is driving me insane, is there any way to make it real easy to open these WPS files in Word?!?

• How do I fix a "cannot open display" error when opening an X program after ssh'ing with X11 forwarding enabled?

  After launching the X11 app (XQuartz 2.3.6, xorg-server 1.4.2-apple56) on my Mac (OS X 10.6.8), opening an terminal in X11 and running xhost +, I then ssh -Y to my Ubuntu 10.04 VM (running on VMware Fusion). When I run gedit .bashrc (for example), I get: (gedit:9510): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: set | grep DISPLAY returns nothing. But if I ssh -Y into my Ubuntu 11.04 machine, gedit .bashrc works. echo $DISPLAY returns "localhost:10.0". I tried export DISPLAY=localhost:10.0 while sshed into my VM and then running gedit .bashrc, but I get: (gedit:9625): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: localhost:10.0 What could be different in the configuration of the two difference Ubuntu machines that would explain why one works and the other doesn't? Update: As suggested by Zoredache in the comment below, I ran sudo apt-get install xbase-clients, but I continue to have the same problem.

  I am trying to get xdebug working on my snow leopard box. It uses port 9000. When I ask slickedit to monitor this port is gives an error that the address is not available. I've gone to canyouseeme.org to see if the port is open. It says the port is NOT open. I've verified that I have that port forwarding to my box from the router and i do NOT have the mac firewall running. I'm stumped. Any ideas?

  Whenever I open a pdf file with PDF X-Change Viewer it locks up the source pdf file to edits. Is there a way to open the pdf (with PDF X-Change Viewer) so that it doesn't lock-up the source file --- perhaps as a shell command with an option? The background: I use LaTeX to edit my pdf files, and preview the result with PDF X-Change Viewer. I must first close PDF X-Change Viewer before I can preview any changes I make in the LaTeX source. It would be nice if PDF X-Change Viewer did not lock-up the pdf source so that I could modify it without first closing PDF X-Change Viewer.

  I have been testing OWA and have found that when there is an attached file on a message it shows the "Attachments:" then the file name (but no link) and then [Open as Web Page] link. The user has to click on that which opens a new window and previews the document, then the user gets "You are currently viewing:" followed by the file name. This time the file name is a link that they can open/download. This happens for Office documents and PDF file at least. How do I make it so users can get a direct link to the file on the original message window?

Every so often, in order to get the latest changes, I have to close down the file and reload it again. • How do you open a folder in OSX using the keyboard?

  On Windows, pressing enter when you highlight on a folder in Windows Explorer will open that folder. On OSX, pressing enter when you highlight a folder edits the folder's name (like F2 in Windows). Is there a keyboard shortcut to do the same thing on Windows, so that you'll open the folder? It doesn't have to be enter, but I'd like to know if there's another hotkey that does it. The reason why I ask is because I like to navigate through deep folder structures by using the arrow keys for navigation and enter to drill down into them.
