• Random walk- Brownian Motion

  I've been assigned the project of creating a simple console app. that models brownian motion in a 2D plane. I wasn't given much information on how to do so (and I'm hoping that it's a pretty popular assignment so that I could get some insight) just that it relies on random number generation. I researched brownian motion for a little bit and saw some formulas that looked complicated, but by the description is just seems to have to move randomly within a certain number interval. Can anyone clarify? Am I to create a program that continually creates a random number in an interval and then modify the particles "x" and "y" coordinate or is there more to it? Thanks for any help.

  I'm having some difficulties with the following problem: I'm making a little game where you're at a specific spot and each spot has each some possible directions. The available directions are N(ord),E(ast),S,W . I use the function getPosDirections to get the possible directions of that spot. The function returns the directions into an ArrayList<String> e.g. for spot J3: [E,W] Now the game goes like this: 2 dice will be rolled so you get a number between 2 and 12, this number represents the number of steps you can make. What I want is an ArrayList of all the possible routes e.g.: I throw 3 and I'm currently at spot J3: [[E,N,E],[E,N,S],[E,S,E],[E,S,S],[W,N,E],[W,N,S],[W,S,E],[W,S,S]] How would obtain the last mentioned Array(list)?

  i'm setting up a custom class that accepts some Number parameters, but i need to limit those parameters and would like to know the best way of doing so. currently, i'm simply calling if statements, and throwing an error if the number is above or below what's accepted. for example, there is a parameter that accepts and angle, but only between 0 and 90. in the case i've typed it as a uint so now i only have to check to see if it's above 90. there's also a parameter Number typed parameter that only accepts values between the range of 0.0 and 1.0. is my method of using if statements and throwing erros the usual way of filtering parameters?

• Double # showing 0 on android

  I'm embarrassed to ask this question, but after 45 minutes of not finding a solution I will resort to public humiliation. I have a number that is being divided by another number and I'm storing that number in a double variable. The numbers are randomly generated, but debugging the app shows that both numbers are in fact being generated. Lets just say the numbers are 476 & 733. I then take the numbers and divide them to get the percentage 476/733 = .64 I then print out the variable and it's always set to 0. I've tried using DecimalFormat and NumberFormat. No matter what I try though it always says the variable is 0. I know there is something simple that I'm missing, I just can't find it =/.

  I have a question about the table beneath my question: If i was told that the given min.support=10%, how can i know what is the support count, by which i will use during the exercise? What i know is: that you take the number of transactions (8) and multiple it by the min.support: 8*(10/100)=0.8 the problem is that i get this number: 0.8, how can i use this support count during this example?? 0.8 is a number that will make me prune all combination set that i will build... please help me!!!   I'm looking for the equivalent of Java's thread.join() in PL/SQL. I.e. I want to kick off a number of jobs (threads), and then wait for them to finish. How is this possible in PL/SQL? I'm thinking of using dbms_job.submit (I know it's deprecated). dbms_scheduler is also an alternative.   I'm trying to sort a bunch of products by customer ratings using a 5 star system. The site I'm setting this up for does not have a lot of ratings and continue to add new products so it will usually have a few products with a low number of ratings. I tried using average star rating but that algorithm fails when there is a small number of ratings. Example a product that has 3x 5 star ratings would show up better than a product that has 100x 5 star ratings and 2x 2 star ratings. Shouldn't the second product show up higher because it is statistically more trustworthy because of the larger number of ratings?

  I need to write a customized function that will be called many times by other fixed functions. In this function, at the first called time, it will return the total number of lines of a file. The second called time of this function, forward, will return the number of lines in small sections of this file. My question is how I keep the first returned result(total number of lines of a file) and use it for the next called times of my function. I need to write or declare any thing only in this function(not in the caller). Something like this: myFunction(Input, MyResult, FirstResult) :- calculateInputFunction(Input, Result), !, MyResult is Result, ... . The problem is, every time myFunction is called, it receives different Input and returns different MyResult. But I would like to keep the first MyResult to use for next called times of myFunction. Table idInvoice price percentageTax1 tax1 percentageTax2 tax2 total Example values: idinvoice: 12300 price: 100 € percentageTax1: 10 % tax1= 10€ percentageTax2: 5 % tax2: 5€ total: 115 € (result: 100€+10€+5€) Ok. If the parameter on that I have commented before is "true" I must update the percentages and then update the total. I need to replace the "old" percentages by new percent.   I have a list of objects ("Move"'s in this case) that I want to sort based on their calculated evaluation. So, I have the List, and a bunch of numbers that are "associated" with an element in the list. I now want to sort the List elements with the first element having the lowest associated number, and the last having the highest. Once the items are order I can discard the associated number. How do I do this?
