However, you must provide your own user interface for exiting full-screen mode.   • Accordion nonfunctional in Opera

  • Script/plugin to update web page (load next 25 comments) until page fully loaded

    Brief summary: I need a script/plugin for Firefox that selects the "load next 25 comments" link at the bottom of a web page, until that link is no longer on the page. As you click that link - you get more comments - eventually all of them on the same page. See this web page for an example (there are 1,852 comments): http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/05/16/gulf.oil.spill/index.html#comment-50598247 I have a regular problem with CNN.com. I post comments there. People sometimes reply to them. I check my profile, and see the number of replies, but I can't read them there. I have to follow the link to the original article. The fist set of comments are at the bottom, with a 'load next 25' link at the bottom. There are often hundreds of comments, and sometimes a few thousand. There is no practical way for me to read the replies to my comments. If there's under around 300 hundred, I'll just click that link enough times to see what the replies to my comments are. I need a script/plugin to select that 'load next 25' link until that link is no longer present on the page. Then I could just search for my userid and read the responses.

    I develop Rails 3 applications, but prior to this, my background was a designer (typically making mockups in Photoshop and then breaking them down to HTML5/CSS3). Now, some great tools/templates exist for getting working layouts ready for Rails and other apps quickly, e.g., http://railsapps.github.com/rails-composer/. Many are using CSS Frameworks such as Twitter Bootstrap. I'd like to know whether there is a local app (for Mac) that can design layouts, much the way Dreamweaver would, but that are geared towards being utilized in a Twitter Bootstrap situation alongside Ruby (Rails) or Python apps, etc.

    I'd like to use unicode symbols within my website (especially Dingbats). Is there any way to enable this inside all (or at least some) browsers in Windows XP, without having the user to adjust any of his settings? I use the HTML5 doctype with the charset configured to UTF-8: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8" /> </head> <body></body> </html> The browsers recognize the charset correctly (even IE7). But no special characters are displayed. I only see an empty square box. This is the case for all of the following browsers: IE7, Safari 4, Firefox 3.5, Chrome 4.1, Opera 10.51. So, is there any way to configure to enable all (or most) unicode characters for browsers running on Windows XP?

    Im writing test scripts in python for selenium web testing. How do I pass parameters through a python function to call in a later function? I first have a login test function. Then I have a new user registration function. Im trying to pass the Username and Password I use in the registration function to the testLogin function that I call inside the testRegister function.   • Div width: auto and IE

    I'm using the jQuery qTip to show individual users and their votes when an average rating is mousedover. qTip calls a PHP file which grabs all the users and votes for the item from the MySQL database and builds a 3 column table, which appears as the tooltip. In Firefox, the tooltip displays properly. In IE7 (haven't tested on IE8 yet), the tooltip is the proper height, but the width is only 2 or 3 characters - not the entire table. If I set the width of the div to a fixed number, say width: 300px; I can coax IE into displaying it properly. However, the length of my users' names varies considerably, and I'd rather not nail down the div to its maximum possible width and then have a crapload of whitespace when you look at an item voted on only by "Joe". Using width: auto; has no effect in IE7. Are there alternatives? Sorry if I've overlooked a similar question. I searched for a bit before posting but didn't find anything suitable. It's a paging mechanism so the hidden value was valid on the first page and I've been able to move forward to the next page. But since the values won't update properly it ends there. What do I need to do? Using firefox.

We've been using Skype to host chats with all the developers, and it works okay except for one thing: It REALLY mangles any code we copy and paste into the chats -- especially the whitespace in Python. This question has tons of opinions about chat clients & servers, but no one has much to say about pasting in code.     I have a survey web-app that is public facing. I want to set up automated testing with Selenium, but selenium can't capture javascript alerts that we're currently using on the site. I'm thinking about changing our user-facing error notifications to some web 2.0 javascript library so that it is accessible to Selenium. However, I'm not sure how many of our users would be able to experience them properly. How backwards-compatible do I need to be in the present day? I have collected a database of actual user-agent strings of our users. I asked here how I could group them into meaningful data about what browsers our users are actually using.

    Lets say I have a jQuery object/collection stored in a variable named obj, which should contain a DOM element with an id named target. I don't know in advance if target will be a child in obj, i.e.: obj = $('<div id="parent"><div id="target"></div></div>'); or if obj equals target, i.e.: obj = $('<div id="target"></div>'); or if target is a top-level element inside obj, i.e.: obj = $('<div id="target"/><span id="other"/>'); I need a way to select target from obj, but I don't know in advance when to use .find and when to use .filter. What would be the fastest and/or most concise method of extracting target from obj? What I've come up with is: var $target = obj.find("#target").add(obj.filter("#target")); UPDATE I'm adding solutions to a JSPERF test page to see which one is the best.   • Web development tool that can comprehend the concept of more than one language in a file at once

    I currently use notepad++ on windows or gedit on ubuntu. Both of them work great with code highlighting and hinting etc. But both of them suffer from a huge flaw. I am yet to find a code editor that can handle this concept: <?php // ooh, look I am doing some php ?><a onclick="alert('hay, some javascript in here now!')"> This link is HTML?!</a> <?PHP echo("NOW we have some php as well!"); ?> At the moment, I just have to settle for the one language. I want something that can think of a that text as a default as HTML, but notice when sections are PHP. I want those sections of PHP to have there own code hinting and highlighting. Even more, lets say in an 'if else' I exit PHP, write some HTML then back into PHP, I want it to work out how the braces ( '{' and '}' ) should match up and let me know if I have missed one. I want the sections of in-line JavaScript to be picked up as such. I want all of these languages to get checked for syntax! Damn it, I want to tool that understands more than one language at once!

    Checkbox alignment with its label (i.e., vertical centering) cross different web browsers makes me crazy. Pasted below is standard html code: <label for="ch"><input id="ch" type="checkbox">My Checkbox</label> I tested different CSS tricks (e.g., link 1, link 2); most solutions works fine in FF, but are completely off in Chrome or IE8. I'm looking for any references or pointers to solve this issue. Thanks in advance. EDIT According to Elq suggestion I modified the HTML <div class="row"> <input type="checkbox" id="ch1" /> <label for="ch1">Test</label> </div> and CSS .row{ display: table-row; } label{ display: table-cell; vertical-align: middle; } Works now in Firefox, Internet Explorer 8, and Chrome on Windows. Fails on Firefox and Chrome on Linux. Also works in Firefox and Safari on Mac, but fails on Chrome.
