• Is there a program to show programs loading during the boot process in real time?

  Hi all, There are any number of programs that will show me WHAT will run during the boot process for Windows XP. I've always been partial to Mike Lin's version but there are several others, some of which are quite possibly superior. That's not the issue. What I'd really like is a program that would load first and then would list the programs that were about to load and then check them off as the programs loaded. This isn't something I necessarily need for myself. But certain family members get click happy as soon as they see the icon they eventually want to run and end up clicking on it. THIRTY TWO TIMES in one memorable crash-inducing spasm. If there was some way for 'progress' to be shown during the loading of from the various spots Windows auto-loads from, PLUS a BIG BANNER saying "Please do not move the mouse or click on anything until done.", I think I might cut down on my early morning family support calls significantly. I've tried a variety of searches, but I couldn't find the ones that show in real time in the forest of links to programs that will show the list after the fact. Any leads? If not, do any of you who write the after-the-fact listers want to take a shot at producing a utility to do what I think would be a relatively popular utility? • Why my internal hard disk can be ejected?

  I have 6 hard disks in my computer and one DVD. The disk that I connect to the 6th SATA port is a regular disk. But my Windows 7 64 bit shows it as a removable drive. I can eject my hard disk! Just like a pen drive. If I connect another disk to the 6th port, I can eject that disk too. So it has nothing to do with the physical disk, it must be something related to Windows or BIOS I don't understand why Windows 7 is seeing a normal hard disk as removable. In Computer Management - Disk Management, the disk looks identical to the others - there is nothing there to suggest the drive is different from the others. But in the tray I have the icon to eject it. The motherboard model is ASUS F2A85 V PRO FM2. All the disks are formatted normally, no Dynamic Disk, no RAID, nothing special. How can I tell Windows 7 to treat the disk exactly like the others, so it can't be ejected?

• Problem with network after malware attack

  Im trying to help some friends with a Win XP machine. I got rid of the malware using Malware Bytes, and HiJackThis. But now they(I) have another problem. When the computer boot into Windows it seems fine. When I start Internet Explorer the browser window opens just fine, but nothing happens for at minute or two. After the two minutes of waiting, the network icon appears in the taskbar next to the clock, and then everything works. The computer is connected to the internet using a Ethernet adapter. I have looked at the Rvent Log and found an error from Perfnet with eventid 2004 <Provider Name="PerfNet" /> <EventID Qualifiers="49152">2004</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> What I have tried so far: In the device manager i have uninstalled the Ethernet adapter and installed it again. I have uninstalled and installed the Windows File and Printer Sharing service. I have verified that both server and workstation services are started. What should I do next?

• Word 2007 won't run, tries to reinstall, fails with error 1402.

  Okay, this problem has been plaguing this computer for a while now. We tried googling, and none of the answers found helped to solve the problem. So, I am now posting the answer here for posterity. Office 2007 Home/Student edition was installed on the computer, running Vista (32-bit). One day, Word just up and stopped working. All the other programs continued to operate as expected. But every time you would click the icon for Word, it would pop up an install dialog, with a message reading "Preparing to install...". After a few minutes of the little progress bar going and going, it errors out, and gives error 1402, something to the effect of unable to access registry key HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Classes\.wll\.... Searching around, every answer i found had to do with reassigning the permissions on this key, giving full rights to SYSTEM or to Everyone, and propagating the changes down to all sub-keys. When ever this was attempted though, it would tell us that we were unable to access the key due to permissions, even though we had run regedit as Administrator and are logged on with an administrative account. We also tried uninstalling Office and reinstalling it, as well as doing a repair install. Both these attempts also threw the same 1402 error. Also of note was that the executable for Word (winword.exe) was MIA and no longer to be found in the Office install directory.

• Windows 7 fails to connect to the internet a few minutes after startup

  Problem Earlier today, when I turned on my desktop computer, my internet connection works fine. Cryptocurrency miners connecting and hashing as usual and I can browse websites. But after a few minutes, my miner fails indicating that there is something wrong with my internet connection. Tried refreshing my browser and is stuck at "resolving host", and then presented me an error. After that, i can't browse sites anymore. But the weird thing is that the network icon in Windows 7 shows no signs of problems. Solutions Made Restarted my computer without doing anything: Problem persists. Tried using the network troubleshooter of windows: Reported no problems Stopped bonjour still no progress. Loaded windows using Last good config: still no progress. Restarted Modem: No change. Current Status I currently did a system restore to my system to a point before installing the latest update from Microsoft. Because earlier today, I installed some updates and after that, the problem started to appear. (After system restore, same problem.) Latest Programs installed before the problem MS Visual Studio 2013 (but internet still worked fine after the install). I hope someone could provide answers on this problem. It is my first time encountering this. EDIT: Additional Info OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit AV: Avast Free Antivirus Internet Connection Type: Ethernet It appears that my Laptop can't even connect to the machine thru Remote Desktop My laptop and phone on WiFi works fine and can connect to the internet. EDIT 2: Whenever I boot into Safe Mode, my Internet is fine.

• Windows 7 library nightmare

  In our active directory we deploy a policy to our clients where the personal directory (My documents) is redirected to a file server of ours \server\share\username\Documents In older systems everything worked fine. in Windows 7 some users are experimenting the following symptoms: * The Documents library is EMPTY * Where the documents library should be shown in Explorer an empty white icon is displayed. No caption. * Right clicking in the Documents library to edit the folders that are part of the libraries brings the dialog up. However, that dialog is unusable. No folder is present there and clicking Add folder does nothing. * Deleting the library and auto-creating it doesn't solve the problem * The shared directory can be accessed via UNC paths and it can be mounted as a shared drive as well. The library is still broken. * The shared drives are on a W2008 indexed server... * Using the Windows Library tool utility doesn't solve the problem. What can the cause of this problem be and how can this be solved?

  Is there any program (or code, any language) that will mute all of the microphones on my computer? If it is code, please make it as simple as possible, the only language I know is C# and I am still VERY new to it. I just want to setup some way to mute my microphones from a hotkey/shortcut, and if I can just find a program that can do, I will be set. As I said, I can also do a little bit if it is in C#, but the only code I have seen before for this, was miles long (atleast to me). My goal, is I just want a program that opens up, and toggles the mute on the microhpones (all of the system audio input) then closes. That is it, very simple. Thank you to anyone who trys to helps me! EDIT: Yes, I am using Windows. I am using Windows 7 32-bit. I already know that I can go into the volume mixer and do it that way, but I need to do this while running a full screen application, and it is a hassle to have to exit fullscreen, open the volume mixer, the click the mute icon, then go back into full screen and the the whole thing over again to unmute it. And I will be toggling back and forth quite often, so it just takes alot to do that so much.

• Seemingly random network connectivity.

  This has been driving me nuts for a while. When I turn on the PC (which has a wired Ethernet connection), it cannot be accessed by other computers on the network. In other words, inbound connections do not work. The firewall is disabled. The PC itself can hit up anything it wants just fine. By process of elimination, I've figured out that checking or unchecking the Eaclift driver in the properties for my network connection restored the inbound connection. I do not know what Eaclift driver is or does or how it even got on my PC (e.g. I am not allowed to uninstall it either). And it does not matter whether it's on or off - I just need to toggle it to restore connectivity. One other thing that happens when I toggle the Eaclift driver, is than an Internet Connection icon appears in the Network Connections and it was not there before. Can someone shed some light as to what is going on? How to fix it so that I don't have to deal with this insanity?

• Why does my DSL modem now need a reboot each time for my laptop to connect?

  I have a rather peculiar home networking issue. For sometime my home network was purring along fine. I could turn on either of my laptops and they would quickly find and connect to my DSL modem (and thence the internet). Several days ago I unplugged my DSL modem for the first time in months. Upon turning it back on and waiting for the boot to finish, the lights on the panel indicated the DSL modem was fully operational, just as before. But that's not what happened. Not at all. Now when I turn on my Win7 laptop, the network icon in my system tray shows a small starburst; hovering over it the tooltip states "Not connected; connections are available". Clicking it lists several nearby networks including my own network showing a strong signal. If I click to connect, it attempts a connection but then I get a dialog stating "Windows was unable to connect to MyNet.". Turning off wireless on my laptop and turning it back on yields no difference. Running the network troubleshooter (which includes doing a repair on the network connection) yields no difference. The only remedy is to reboot the DSL modem (i.e. unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in). As soon as it goes online my laptop finds it and connects properly. To add one more twist to the story, this happened to me once before, several months ago. After a couple weeks, the situation resolved itself(!). Everything started working properly again, due to nothing I did. Final note: this problem only affects the wireless connection to the DSL modem. My desktop computer, connected via hardline to the DSL modem, connects fine when I turn it on. Any thoughts on why this is happening or how to fix it?

• The great Vanishing Act of INetMgr.exe on my Windows 7 x64 system

  I'm facing an odd issue with the IIS Manager on Windows 7 (x64). At home, I have Win7 Professional, and when I check my IIS manager icon in the start menu, I see it links to %windir%\system32\inetsrv\InetMgr.exe When I launch this from the command line, it works like a charm. At work, however, I have Windows 7 Enterprise (x64), and when I check my link in the start menu, the entry is exactly the same. If I click on it - it works like a charm. Now if I'd like to launch it from the command line (cmd.exe or TakeCommand), however - the file just isn't there - a DIR %windir%\system32\inetsrv\*.exe shows a number of files, including a "inetmgr6.exe" - but no "inetmgr.exe" - and of course, I can't launch it either :-( Strangely enough, when I look at the directory %windir%\system32\INetSrv in Windows Explorer or Windows Powershell, I SEE the INetMgr.exe file and I can launch it - no problem. What the **** is going on here? How can I find the INetMgr.exe from my classic command line and launch it from there?? UPDATE: ok, some updates. On my work laptop, the INetMgr.exe file appears to really be located in a directory called c:\windows\syswow64\inetsrv (I'm recalling from memory, so don't quote me on the directory name - something like that). I can see this if I search for it in e.g. Powershell or Windows 7 Explorer. However, from a "classic" command line like cmd.exe, it appears to be in c:\windows\system32\inetsrv ..... hmmm.... trouble is - even though I now know where the file really is, I cannot access that directory from my classic command line - not even if I'm running cmd.exe as admin with elevated privileges....... so I know where the file is, but that still doesn't solve my problem :-(

• CSS and JS files not being updated, supposedly because of Nginx Caching

  I have my web app working with AppCache and I would like that when I modify my html/css/js files, and then update my Cache Manifest, that when the user accesses my web app, they will have an updated version of those files. If I change an HTML file, it works perfectly, but when I change CSS and JS files, the old version is still being used. I've been checking everything out and I think it's related to my nginx configuration. I have a cache.conf file that contains the following: gzip on; gzip_types text/css application/x-javascript text/x-component text/richtext image/svg+xml text/plain text/xsd text/xsl text/xml image/x-icon; location ~ \.(css|js|htc)$ { expires 31536000s; add_header Pragma "public"; add_header Cache-Control "max-age=31536000, public, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate"; } location ~ \.(html|htm|rtf|rtx|svg|svgz|txt|xsd|xsl|xml)$ { expires 3600s; add_header Pragma "public"; add_header Cache-Control "max-age=3600, public, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate"; } And in default.conf I have my locations. I would like to have this caching working on all locations except one, how could I configure this? • Which events specifically cause Windows 2008 to mark a SAN volume offline?

  I am searching for specific criteria/events that will cause Windows 2008 to mark a SAN volume as offline in disk management, even though it is connected to that SAN volume via FC or iSCSI. Microsoft states that "A dynamic disk may become Offline if it is corrupted or intermittently unavailable. A dynamic disk may also become Offline if you attempt to import a foreign (dynamic) disk and the import fails. An error icon appears on the Offline disk. Only dynamic disks display the Missing or Offline status." I am specifically wondering if, on the SAN, changing the path to the disk (such as the disk being presented to the host via a different iSCSI target IQN or a different LUN #) would cause a volume to be offlined in disk management. Thanks! Edit: I have already found two reasons why a disk might be set offline, disk signature collisions and the SAN disk policy.   Can anyone help with this issue? I am trying to help someone and could use some expertise. Error Message #1: Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003 With CD icon "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003' disk and click OK. Use source: Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003" 1st got this message after CD was inserted to recover partial file STDP11N. Recovered STDP11N, however, still receiving pop up window with error message each time outlook opens. Had accidentally cleaned up old programs and suddenly this was missing. Reinstalled Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003 using install CD. Outlook worked buit keep getting error message pop up each time I open Outlook. Hit ok. Error Message #2: The path 'Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'STDP11N.MSI' in a folder from which you can install the product Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003." Hit ok. Back to error message #1 Hit close window Error message #3: Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the network, or CD-ROM drive. For other potential solutions to this problem, see C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\ OFFICE11\1033\SETUP.CHM Error message #4 I'd created a file under D: drive on an external drive. • Wireless very slow on one laptop on network, all other machines normal?

  My new laptop (Acer Aspire Timeine 3810TZ running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) is acting very strange on my wireless network. Below are the issues I'm noticing... The connection frequently drops. I see the icon change from 'full bars' to 'empty bars with yellow star (meaning no connection)' occasionally. Almost every website I visit (Firefox) hangs for a long time on 'Looking up www.amazon.com' for example. After a long pause, it finally starts loading the website. Neither of these problems exist on any other machines on my network. I also have a desktop running the same OS wirelessly and it works fine. I've run several Speedtest.net tests and the speeds are great (20MBit down/4 up). Results from pingtest.net are as follows: Line quality: D Ping: 46ms Jitter: 65ms Packet Loss: 9% These results are to a server that is less than 10 miles from my residence. The results on the other machines in my house are normal. Any suggestions? This is becoming very annoying as I purchased this machine primarily for browsing.

• DVD Share on Vista Home Premium Failing

  UPDATE: - I can't find any Local Policy Editor for Vista Home Premium, as suggested. - I did learn about registry keys: allocatecdroms, allocatefloppies, allocatedasd and tried adding these keys (individually and collectively) and setting them to both 0 or 1. There was no positive affect on read access to the DVD root folder - always Access Denied. ORIGINAL POST: Failing read access to the root folder of a DVD drive in Vista Home Premium laptop using the Guest account - Access Denied. The client is an XP Home PC that can see, but not access, the data in the share. I'm only trying to read the data DVD - not trying to write/burn anything. On the Vista laptop, I have: All Firewalls and Antivirus disabled.UAC disabled. Password checking disabled. "Advanced Shared" the DVD drive, with "Everyone" having full-access permissions to the share. Tried adding Guest and Anonymous users having full-access permissions to the share. RestrictAnonymous=0 set in the registry. Both PC's are in the same workgroup (MSHOME) The XP Home client sees the shared DVD in \Vista_Hostname\ but when I double click the drive icon on the client, I get a popup that access is denied, check with the administrator, etc. I can share other folders on the Vista PC and see and READ these from the XP Home client. If I enable password checking on the Vista side, I get a user/password popup, and I can authenticate (using my known Vista account, that happens to have Admin rights) and then I can get to see and read the DVD data. I need to open this up so that the (default) Guest user can see and access the DVD data files.

• Win7 System folder contains infinitely looping SYSTEM(!) directory

  My Windows 7 Enterprise computer has been crashing fairly frequently recently, so I decided to boot up in safe mode and run the TrendMicro client I have installed. It froze about 10 minutes into the full system scan, so in the spirit of http://whathaveyoutried.com, I started scanning each folder individually. When I got to ProgramData, the AV failed with an uncaught exception. I then went down a level and tried scanning Application Data, which failed as well. Imagine my surprise when I open the folder just to see the same folder again! As far as I can tell, this folder loop continues indefinitely. (If you are trying to recreate this, keep in mind that ProgramData is a hidden folder.) I'm actually a bit concerned that these are system folders, as this is a brand-new computer with a clean installation. I guess I have three questions: Has anyone else seen/experienced this before? I'm running Win7 SP1. How do I fix this? I've run CHKDSK \F with no success (although it was incredibly slow). What are the ramifications of an infinitely recursive directory? Theoretically speaking, each link takes up memory, so shouldn't I have no space available on my hard drive? (I've got about 180GB left.) I noticed that the tree view on the left only shows the "linked folder" icon on the deeper folders--does this mean anything special? (I've circled the icons or lack thereof in red.) How can the OS even resolve this aberration? And above all, what would happen if I were to select "Expand all folders"??? :P Matt

• Monitor mode 802.11 captures on OSX

  I'm trying to determine the difference between capturing 802.11 frames in the following ways on OSX (10.8.5). It's a bit esoteric, but I use "Option 2" to capture frames for later analysis, and am wondering if I'm missing something. Option 1: use "airportd": $sudo /usr/libexec/airportd en0 sniff Option 2: use "airport" followed by tcpdump: sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resources/airport --channel= sudo tcpdump -I -P -i en0 -w /tmp/capture.pcap (or alternatvely eliminate the -w and watch packets real-time). From what I can tell: Both commands, according to the wifi icon on OSX, put the interface into 'monitor' mode. Both commands output a pcap file that is readable in both wireshark/tcpdump & Eye PA. Both commands appear to capture management, control and data frames. The rub: Option 1 disconnects you from the network. This is expected, when putting an interface into 'monitor' mode. Option 2 does NOT disconnect you, provided you've set the channel to the same channel your currently connected to. This has a distinct advantage of keeping your connection up while capturing in monitor mode. My question: Option 2 does not seem like it should work, or more specifically, it does not seem like I should be able to remain connected while also capturing frames in monitor mode. On a wired NIC, you can be 'promiscuous' and still send frames, though I didn't think the same was true for wireless NIC. I'm questioning the validity of capturing frames w/ Option 2?

• I have enabled hidden administrator in Win 7 home, but programs still dont work.

  I have Windows 7 Home Premium, and would like to do some maintenance tasks such as running Disk Defragmenter. However, this and other programs and applications that I'm accustomed to using are now blocked. For these programs, there is a shield icon next to their icons and nothing happens when I click on them. I notice that the screen blinks slightly, but I do not get prompted for a password and the program still does not run. It seems these programs may only be accessible through an Administrator account. However, right-clicking and selecting "Run As Administrator" does not work. After some research, I found a way to enable the hidden built-in Administrator account. I booted the computer into safe mode. In the command prompt, I typed net user administrator /active:yes. I gave the account a password. I rebooted the system. There is now an Administrator account on the home screen. However, the locked programs behave no differently for me when I use this account. What could cause this problem? How can I fix it?

EDIT: A) I am located in Germany. B) I am NOT looking for a place to offer pirated Software/Media; no binary on my site, except "profile icon". Hello! I want to start publishing "social" websites / apps, and I found that the biggest initial problem is this: Any and all services I have to depend on, including Domain Registrar, DNS provider, Server/Cloud Provider, CDN Provider, ... even my Insurance Agent, basically say that they can "throw me out" if my website contains "unacceptable" content. It's always phrased in such a way that basically anything can fall under "unacceptable" content. This is very frustrating because you just can't fully control what users post on your "social website", and you so you basically have to expect when you go to bed that your site is going to be gone when you wake up. I've heard a lot of horror stories about this. Since the "Terms Of Service" of all those providers are foremost to protect themselves from legal actions, and those legal actions depend on the country where they are located, it seems like the first step is to find which country is the "safest" to locate a site. "Safest" being defined as, where I am least likely to get in legal trouble with the local authorities, if some user posts something unacceptable in some way. The main restriction is that it should also be a "well-connected" country, because there is no point in being "safe", if my users can't get to my sites, or the latency is unacceptable. I am targeting the English speaking people in any country as my future users.

(NOT a terminal emulator) because the screen is rather small, i want to add some "icons" to the tmux status bar. to achieve this, i have simply created a font with the appropriate glyphs for things like battery, or wifi. i can load the font, and display the characters with calls that use an escape to the line drawing characters like so: echo -e "\xe\234\xf" \xe escapes me into line drawing character mode, \234 is my created character, and \xf returns me to normal character mode so my terminal doesnt start getting goofy. this works perfectly if i enter the command at the terminal whether tmux is started or not. the issue arises if i then try to use it in my ~/.tmux.conf file for the status bar. i currently have a line like this: set -g status-right "#(echo -e "\xe\234\xf") #(/script/to/output/powerlevel) this simply outputs \xe\234\xf powerlevel this goes the same if i try printf over echo. this is the output i would expect to get on the terminal if i made the call without passing -e to echo, or without enclosing the statement with quotes. i then decided to wrap the calls to the echo or printf in a shell script. again, the script works when called from the terminal, but not in tmux's status bar. now i get the unprintable character "?" instead of my icon, like this: ? powerlevel this is what i would expect if i did not use the line drawing escapes previously mentioned above, or if i tried to copy and paste the character as text using tmux. in addition, the calling of these character scripts screws up the rest of my status-right, as the clock has about 6 digits for minutes when it is called (though it correctly only updates two of them). how can i make tmux respect the escape characters? any help or insight is greatly appreciated.

• MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard) Wi-Fi network connection breaks after few minutes

  I have a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard). After connecting on a Wi-Fi network, the connection "breaks" after a few minutes. What I mean by "breaking" is that all requests, whether it is loading a web page, connecting to a share folder, connecting to my local router at 192.168.0.1, or pinging anything doesn't get through (time out). When in a "break" situation, I can see in the Network Settings panel that I still have an active IP, which I can successfully ping. I have this problem at home with a router D-Link DI-624 and at work with a D-Link WBR-2310, all with updated firmwares. I thought DHCP was the issue. So I tried assigning a fixed IP address (192.168.0.166). It successfully connects, but after a few minutes, the connection still breaks. The solution I'm currently using is that I disable the AirPort (on the Network icon menu in the top bar), wait a few seconds then re-enable it. It then quickly works, but the connection still breaks after a few minutes. I tried Googling my problem but I think I can't find any good keywords ! It's my first question here, so sorry if I don't respect some rules.

• Firefox window disappears

  Now this is odd. At some point in the last half hour, my Firefox window disappeared. I didn't notice, as I was working in another program at the time. No Firefox icon shows up with Alt-Tab, and no Firefox listing shows up under the Applications tab in the task manager. There is a Firefox entry under the Processes tab. Normally, I probably wouldn't have noticed, just opened Firefox up again, but I'm listening to an Internet radio station and the stream never stopped. When I did open a new Firefox window, it showed up in the Task Manager's applications tab. I'm running Windows XP, and my Firefox has the add-ons Adblock Plus, BetterPrivacy, Cert Viewer Plus, DOM Inspector, Firebug, Greasemonkey, Java Quick Starter, Live HTTP headers, Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant, NoScript, WebDeveloper and XPather. The radio station is Slacker; it's never given me any trouble before, and I've been using it for months. I don't think there was anything unusual in my open tabs; just a few static pages at non-sketchy sites like Java APIs, plus GMail and the aforementioned Slacker. Googling brought up a handful of similar-but-not-quite-the-same errors, none of which had useful resolutions. Does anyone know how to bring that window back and/or prevent this from happening again?

• unable to access Internet by wireless but can by cable

  i'M GOING MAD! UNtil last friday I had been successfully using wifi with the supplier as VIRGIN through their Motorola SB 4200 cable Modem and the wireless router being the Linksys WRT 54G router. Supported were three lap tops and an EPSON 510W printer and this had been running with no issue for about 3 years. Back to last friday, we started suffering significant delays and then the network collapsed with no wireless access. I was able to connect a single laptop direct to the cable modem and internet access was restored to just that one device. I thought that the problem was the router so I tried a backup D-Link device with no success. I have subsequently bought another cable modem AND a netgear router plus addidtional ethernet cables but with no success. The best that happens is that the signal appears good but I cannot get access to the internet. A yellow question mark appears on the 'gradient' icon. Each laptop and router works elsewhere so I'm stumped. Mind you I am a real novice so I'm not surprised. Please can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

• How can I set up a touchscreen as the non-primary monitor in a dual monitor situation?

  I have been looking for information about using a second monitor, and thought of using a touchscreen. Will a touchscreen monitor work in a dual setup if it is not the main monitor? I haven't found any information on this; I've only found information about the touchscreen being the main monitor. That is, except at this SU question (snippet below): If you mean do the touch screen features still work on the other machine, the answer is yes. Past that, you can even see some of the touch screen features on a non touch screen monitor (just not the multi touch features!) For example, on the taskbar, click (without releasing) on any icon and then drag the mouse up, and you will see that it does the same as using your finger and dragging up. I have a HP 2510 for the main monitor. I'm thinking of adding a HP 2310ti (the touchscreen) as the secondary. My graphics card is a geforce gtx 295. I'm running Windows 7 Professional.
