Having spelling mistakes on a website degrades customer experience by many times. Developers and website content creators spend good amount of time in going through the content manually to make sure that there are no spelling mistakes. There are few web services and tool available in the market which provide automated spell checking services but they have certain limitations like – high fees to use the service, limitation on the number of pages they scan for errors, privacy issues, etc. What about a free tool that runs locally on your PC and spell checks unlimited web pages? Here comes Spell Checker extension for Firefox web browser. This free Firefox extension is developed by Gaurang, a Software Test Engineer based out in India. Once the extension is installed it adds a new context menu “Check Spelling” and a small icon to Add-On bar. To check spellings of a web page just click on the icon or the context menu and it will highlight all the errors on the page. By default SpellChecker extension uses US English dictionary to find spell mistakes and supports spell checking in other languages with installation of dictionaries. Hello, I recently couldn't configure my mod_rewrite where I'm using Wordpress and MyBB. And now I need Your help, because I couldn't deal with it... Here is the code: The problem is with third, fifth and sixth line. On the third, it couldn't display comments (error 404). On fifth, forum categories are not working. Finally on sixth, post aren't working. I appreciate, any help. Thanks! EDIT: You're saying the truth. What I want, is for example: From link: example.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=71 to example.com/forum/post// <= only id is important here, post name is only for seo Same thing with 'dzial'. And Wordpress From: example.com/portal/comment-page-#comment-1995 <= name, id and number of page is important here. Any ideas, how to deal with it?

Unable to Connect to Internet with 3G USB Dongle for Particular ISP

I'm using USB 3G Dongle for Internet. Previously I was using Tata Docomo (India) as provider, and the Internet was working fine. Now I've changed to BSNL, but I'm unable to connect to the Internet on Ubuntu. However, I've checked access point settings and other configuration which are required for BSNL, and it is working fine with same Dongle on Windows 7. Also, I'm able to connect Internet with other providers on Ubuntu, but problem persists only with Ubuntu. The access point for BSNL in my region is bsnlnet. In fact I configure the Dongle with BSNL using default Network Configuration wizard that pops up when USB Dongle is attached. When Dongle is attached and configured with BSNL, I can see network strength in Messaging menu, in Mobile Broadband category, of Ubuntu (note: my network icon still shows "not connected" status). And when I try to use the connection that I've created, it fails to connect. So far, I tried using Sakis3g script that I came up with while wandering over this issue on other forums, it didn't worked either. I also made sure that there are no special configuration made for BSNL on my Windows 7 installation, and still it is working fine there, the problem is only with Ubuntu. How can I fix it?

Is title tag position relevant in html pages?

I'd like know if having the title tag positioned at the end of <head> tag or in any other position, always inside the <head></head>, can lead to some kind of problem, I'm not talking about SEO stuffs, I'm talking about standards, browser rules, web application rules, or something like this. I'd like to load a page from two different php file like this, is it a wrong way?  <html> <head> ....  <title><?php echo($var)?> </head> <body> ... <head> tag is not closed, because with the second file I dynamically add the <title> tag.

Multiple domains and product categories but one company?

Hi Guys, My company is expanding online, and we are wondering the best way to go about our eCommerce strategy. We sell a wide range of products of a single material, lets use ceramics as an example. The current competition in our niche online is medium level. We currently have one site selling all our range: ceramicstuff.com However I have just found that ceramickitchenware.com, ceramicbowls.com, etc are currently unregistered, despite quite decent traffic search volume around those keywords monthly. What do you guys think about registering these domains to increase traffic? Would I put a standalone sites on those domains, or do I point them to my main domain? Or do I use them a "micro" sites to offer information, and then link to buy at my main domain, etc? Summary: I'm looking to employ "spammy" type SEO tricks, multiple domains, etc but the key point is I will be generating REAL content, and offering a REAL QUALITY product. How to proceed? Thanks!

In the next series of blogs, I am going to highlight how carbon trading and sustainability reporting legislation is evolving in other Asia Pacific countries, including South Korea, China, Japan, India and Taiwan - starting with South Korea. South Korea passed legislation to begin a national cap-and-trade program in May 2012. Korea is the 8th biggest source of GHG emissions in the world and has a national target of cutting them 30% by 2020. South Korea's program will cover about 60% of emissions and will affect big emitters across the economy, including utilities, major manufacturers and even large universities. Emissions trading is scheduled to begin in Korea in 2015, the same year as in Australia and China. Is creating a full application in Silverlight advisable?

Is creating a huge public site fully in Silverlight really advisable? for eg. an ecommerce site. I don't want to start any debate but actually I feel Silverlight shouldn't be used for full website because the biggest loss you incur is of SEO. No search engines till today can parse the xap file and index it based on it's content. You can get around it by doing ifs and thens like if Silverlight is not supported then make an Asp.Net equivalent page for it but that only doubles our effort of making application, more than anything else. Why write double code in 2 applications meant for the same purpose. If that is the only option why not create Asp.Net application only. What are your views? Thanks in advance :)

I am thinking of running a self-site builder. But was wondering how would I allow customers to use their own domains that they already own. Is that even possible? Let's say my site is www.bestsitebuildingwebsite.com and each customer has urls like this www.bestsitebuildingwebsite.com/frances www.bestsitebuildingwebsite.com/eden www.bestsitebuildingwebsite.com/john And a customer has a domain called widgets.com Is it actually possible domain widgets.com to go to my site somehow and have HASHES on the URL still work (my site makes use of hashes for AJAX queries). Almost every developer has to answer questions from business side like: Why is going to take 2 days to add this simple contact form? When developer estimates this task, they may divide it into steps: make some changes to Database optimize DB changes for speed add front end HTML write server side code add validation add client side javascript use unit tests make sure SEO is setup is working implement email confirmation refactor and optimize the code for speed ... These maybe hard to explain to non-technical person, who basically sees the whole task as just putting together some HTML and creating a table to store the data. To them it could be 2 hours MAX. So is there a better way to explain why the estimate is high to non-developer?

Mobility Card in Bangalore for Transportation

Transport Minister R Ashoka announced Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) services are going to be best in the world soon. BMTC has planned to launch a Mobility Card with which commuters can get rides in BMTC, KSRTC and future Metro Train facilities without buying tickets for each ride. The conductor with have a simple device in which the commuters can swipe their cards to deduct the ticket tarrif for bus or metro rides automatically. This Mobility card can be obtained by paying a fixed amount. This method is time saving and the commuters can be saved from paying the exact change for tickets. Ashoka says the Volvo Vayu Vaira services have internet connectivity and voice announcements of every bus stop names and this has been appreciated by the commuters. With WiFi Connections in Shatabdi Trains soon and Mobility Cards, India is soon to match the services of US Standards. Government officials are keen in implementing these services before the end of this year. Hope all these services are well used and maintained. Managing multiple Adwords accounts from one Google account

I have a Gmail account linked to numerous Analytics accounts, and a couple of Adwords accounts - that is, I can track stats from a dozen or so sites, and have administration rights for a couple of Adwords campaigns. However, a client has already set-up their Adwords account and has invited me help administer their campaign. However, when I try to accept, I get the folowing error: The Google Account xxx already has access to an AdWords account (Customer ID: ). As many have discovered, for some reason Google won't let an account that already owns an Adwords campaign, to join another account. However, I wondering if there is any workaround for this? Temporarily, I'm using a separate Gmail account for this, but what is the longer term solution. Going forwards, sometimes clients will be happy from me to 'host' their campaigns (but providing them with access), but I'm equally sure that many will want to retain greater control. Surely there must be a better way than creating an additional Gmail account for each client? How do web/SEO agencies handle this?

Should Site Title be Before or After Page Title?

Possible Duplicate: Does the order of keywords matter in a page title? Apologies if this is a dupe. I tried searching, but didn't find anything specifically addressing this concern. When creating a large(ish) site, page titles usually reference both the site name and the current page name. However, it seems there are two main conventions: Bob's Awesome Site - Contact Page and Contact Page - Bob's Awesome Site I've looked around, and pages usually use one of the two variants above. Is there any reason to use one over the other? SEO/readability/usability/etc? I've thought about it, and have only come up with: Page first - Differentiates the tab when the browser is crowded with lots of tabs Site first - Immediately see the "parent" site, so to speak; more cohesive experience
