    as a beginner of asm, I am checking gcc -S generated asm code to learn. why gcc 4.x default reserve 8 bytes for stack when calling a method? func18 is the empty function with no return no param no local var defined.     Hello. I have a list of urls (content type usage url's). Now, content types are deployed across web's. I need to loop those content types and do some actions in each list, but opening new SPWeb instance every loop is too resource intensive. Is there built-in method to tell me if this URL belongs to certain SPWeb object? Example: SPWeb's may be http://server/web1 http://server/web2 http://server/web2/subweb1 http://server/web2/subweb2 With content type usage links like: /web2/Pages /web2/Lists/Tasks /web2/Lists/Documents /web2/subweb1/Lists/Tasks ... As you can see, for first 3 usages i don't need to open up new SPWeb

    Hi, Rather than allowing a Ruby method to blindly return the last statement evaluated, is there any advantage to returning nil explicitly? In terms of implementation hiding and reuse, it seems dangerous to blindly allow the last expression evaluated to be returned - isn't there a danger that a user will rely on this only to get a nasty surprise when the implementation is modified? Surely returning nil would be better unless an explicit return value was given. Following on, is there an optimisation that Ruby can make when the return is a simple type rather than a reference to a more complex object? Chris

    Hi, I have been working in Oracle iStore from past 4 months and i have been managing the application without any IDE (basically doing all the chores on notepad only because application has been designed poorly and no IDE can support it). Since the coding is done on simple notepad files it is very hard to find out the bugs in the application. I am facing a problem that i have not idea which jsp page redirect the control to which jsp page. For instance, there are two jsp pages A.jsp and other is B.jsp. Now the browser is currently displaying A.jsp. When the user click on submit button (available on A.jsp) the form submits and redirects the control to B.jsp. Now my problem is that i know i am coming on B.jsp but, i don't know that A.jsp is redirecting the control to B.jsp. Is there an method available in Servlet API which tells Which jsp is redirecting the control to B.jsp? But from UI i'm not supposed to call the service methods directly. I need to call all service methods from a static class and from code behind file i need to invoke the static method. In this scenario what exactlly do i need to do?

    Hi, I am working with Entity Framework 4.0 (VS 2010 Beta 2, NOT RC). I can model the EDM and produce the required database. When I ask VS to generate the code for the model, it generates the expected .designer.cs file. When I look at the factory methods for each entity that the designer has generated, I've noticed that it doesn't include all of the properties of the entity. Is it correct to say that the factory method only includes properties that cannot be null ? This appears to be the case, but I'm not entirely sure. Thanks, Scott

Therefore, I can override many methods in “System.Web.UI.Page” class that is a parent of “System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage” class. Nevertheless, I can do it by override Render method but it makes all view pages be invalid for XHTML 1.0 strict.     I'm writing a simple package manager and I'd like to automatically try sudo if the program isn't run as root. I found a function called seteuid, which looks likes it's exactly what I need, but I don't have the permissions to run it. So far all I can think of is a bash script to check before they get to the actual binary, but I'd like to do this all as C++ if possible. Is there any method of changing a processes's euid after it starts executing? Or a way to call sudo?

  • What's the most efficient method for moving and transcoding HD video from my Tivo to iTunes on OS X

    I've got a Tivo with some HD recordings on it. I'd like to move those files over to my Mac and add them into iTunes. I'd like the move and transcoding to be as painless as possible, and I'd like to preserve the quality of the original HD recording. I've got a network connection to the Tivo and can move the files over but the real problem seems to be transcoding. I tried using MEncoder to transcode to H.264 but the quality really suffered. I was doing the conversion at 10mbps so I'm not sure why the quality was so bad, lots of artifacting, etc.

However, my understanding is based off reading various threads on various websties. I'd like to get some stronger evidence as to who's correct. My question is therefore, "Is there a technique for estimating the performance and requirements of a certain database, that I could use to confirm or modify my intuitions?". Is there, for example, a good book for calculating the performance of equivalent MongoDB/MySQL schema? Is the only really reliable option to build the whole thing and take metrics?

  • ipad dev - in the UISplitViewController template, how is the method setDetailItem called?

    I am developing an ipad app which has a UISplitViewController. (I use IB to build the interface, but I do not use the template) Both master and detail (left and right) views are navigationController. The left view subclass UITableView and the right view should push another controller if the cell on the left is selected. I don't know how to make my detail view responds to my master view. Also, in the template, the detailViewController has a id detailItem and a method setDetailItem. How are these two connected? I cannot see any connection between but setDetailItem is called when detailViewController.detailItem is being called. Thanks in advance.
