I've placed this code my didload method, to get a black Navigationbar.
rootTabBarController.navigationController.navigationBar.barStyle = UIBarStyleBlackOpaque;

its working fine, but when the user rearranges the Icons in the editmode, i'm getting a default blue navigation bar. Can anyone help me to avid this ?

I think I am going crazy right now. I am trying to create a spinner populated by a datatable but for some reason the dropdown list items text is not being displayed. I have looked all over and have seen other posts with people having this same problem. Can anyone help??

The spinner gets created just fine and is populated with 4 items but whenever I click on the spinner I see 4 items with no text and just radiobuttons. If I select any of them I am getting the correct selected item value but there is just no data displayed.
I have been testing my iPhone debug build on both my device and simulator with activity monitor, leaks, and object allocations. The code is pretty well optimized so I have decided to test the release build. I went into the project Menu and set the target build to be release, I then added the necessary header paths that my app is using to the headers search paths and ran the release build on the device with the above mentioned instruments. What I have noticed now is that memory that was freed when I used the debug build does not get freed when using release version. There is one place in my App that I remove a scroll view with some images which frees up a significant amount of memory when I use the debug build, but no memory is freed up in that place when I use the release version. Does someone have any ideas where I need to start looking at? did I setup my release build wrong?

I'm trying to write an application for the iphone where the user will be notified of events such as deadlines. I am looking to override the silent mode and possibly have the notification sound loop until the user activates the application. Any info or documentation would be appreciated.

I know nib files are serialized objects and they have owner, outlets to make connections.
Using XCode Navigation window template I created application, which in its order created 2 nib files - MainWindow and SecondView. I can't understand how MainWindow is referring to SecondView, there is no connection between those two as far as I can see. SecondView's owner is UIViewController and in MainWindow there is a navigation tab which is also UIViewController. But how they are connected in IB I can't understand...
Also I don't understand who is instanciating MainWindow's owner object and where that object is being kept, where is the variable which is UIApplication myApp = [[UIApplication alloc] init].
If I create 10 nib files with UIViewController owner, who will trigger their deserialization?
If some class is nib file's owner, what is the essential responsibilities of that class? Is it deserializing nib file into memory?
Sorry for unorganized questions, I've been reading numerous articles and docs about nib files, but it is still confusing.

e.g.
I have response stream which represents GoogleDrive file and request stream to upload file to another GoogleDrive account.
At that momment I can download file to local pc and next upload it to the google drive. But is it possible to upload it directly from one google drive to another or, at least, start uploading before full download will be completed.

I'm new to iPhone development and I am writing an iPhone app that needs two different table views, which are selectable using a button bar or tab bar. These table views are both the same size, but only cover about two thirds of the screen from the bottom up. The top portion of the screen remains the same when either of these tables is displayed. I'd also like to animate (flip) these views when the user selects one or the other.
The view that these two tables will be displayed on is the detail view of my app where the user has already selected an item from the primary screen's table. I'm using a UINavigationController to manage the primary and detail views and I have this working. I also have the first of these two detail tables working as part of my detail view, but I think it makes more sense to isolate the code for these two tables and not duplicate all of the code for the part of the detail view that doesn't change.
I don't really care how these two table views are created (either in code or via IB). I've tried several things and I can't seem to figure it out. Any help or ideas (with sample code) would be greatly appreciated!
How do I get the contents of the documents directory as a NSMutableArray?
I can get it as a normal NSArray, but as soon as I try to do anything with that array, my app crashes.

This is a bit of an odd/specific one - possibly a bug?
I'm using MPMoviePlayerViewController to play a variety of files, including Enhanced Podcasts - these are audio files, but with a slideshow of images, often created using GarageBand. Until (i think) iOS 3.2 they weren't supported at all, now they are and play fine in the iPod app, but in my app the slideshow doesn't start, the full screen movie player opens, and the audio begins, but all I see is the QuickTime logo. If I scrub the track the pictures appear - and will continue to play correctly - but I see nothing if I don't scrub!
Any ideas??
On a related note, these files also include a small rectangluar button containing an (i) button on the right hand side - anybody know what it is or should do?! It does nothing for me!
I am having MKAnnotationView and i have added UIButton to it, by addSubView method with IBAction assigned to it using addTarget method. But when i tabbed on that button IBAction doesn't called ....!
I am not getting, Why it is not working?
How can i add button to MKannotationView so that its IBAction called ???

How do you compile a resource into the binary in XCode? That way is doesn't show up inside the application bundle as a file and it's not subject to manipulation by a user (whether good-intentioned or bad).
Is this even possible?
I'm particularly interested about this in terms of iPhone apps.

I am making a call to verifyReceipt to validate an in-app purchase but am getting a very strange response (the response is b)
The same code worked till some time back. But I stopped the app debugging while the trans was being verified at one point. From there on, the only response I get is b. I checked the code and it has nothing wrong. As I said, the same code worked till I stopped this trans mid-way.
Any idea what could be wrong?

then a message is popped up on the screen saying "suggestion sent"

My application is working fine on the normal iPad display, but I also need to output to VGA out. When I do this, I need to add the view to the external screen's window which seems to mean that I can't use it to accept input from the iPad screen.
I want to redirect input from the iPad's window to the window displaying on the external screen. As far as I can tell there's no standard method of doing this.
I've tried overriding hitTest on the iPad's window view to send it to the window on the external display, but the coordinates seem to get messed up in the process which makes it nigh unusable.
I've also tried subclassing the iPad's UIWindow and catching events in sendEvent, then trying to send them to the external window, but this doesn't seem to work at all.
Any help would be appreciated, I'm happy to post any code you would like to see.

I'm new to iphone development. I'm a VB programmer who is trying to convert a VB application to an ipad app.
I need some help with sending text to a UITextView.
I want to first have a UIPickerView and then once the user hits a UIButton, a UITextView appears and the text is then generated by my source code code, line by line. The code would constantly be concatenating strings to the text.
It would sort of go like this--
1) User makes selections with UIPickerView.
2) User then hits UIButton.
3) UIPickerView is replaced on the screen with a UITextView.
4) The code does stuff.
5) The code adds the 1st line of text into the UITextView.
6) The code does more stuff.
7) The code then adds the 2nd line of text into the UITextView, retaining the 1st line that was already there.
Steps 6 and 7 are repeated until the code is done.
Does anyone know of any examples of this that I could look at? I am mostly interested in finding something like a youtube video, a webpage that explains the code or even a good book that covers this particular topic. I am finding that the sample codes that Apple has on this site goes over my head.
In fact, I could probably benefit from a good book. But, I am looking for one that I would already know covers this particular topic, since it is so essential to the app that I am trying to build.

I want to offer a "highscore" list for friends in my app (at this point iPhone/iPad), so that if the user connected to facebook, he will get a list with his/her friends scores.
Connecting is easy, retrieving friends is easy, but figuring out the best way to store the scores is not.
As it seems I need to the store the scores on my own server server, no big deal. But what is considered a reasonable safe way to transfer the data? When communicating with facebook, authentication is clear - but communicating with my server basically anyone could post scores for another user if I send user id and score. Obfuscation might help a bit, but is there any better way to make sure that the data comes from the fb-logged-in person?
Scores can also go down, so changing scores for other persons won't necessary help them.
