  • Setup Firefox to save .pages as .zip automatically

    What do I want to do? I would like Firefox to save files with the .pages extension as .zip files automatically. Scenario You are browsing through your emails and you notice your friend just sent you an email with a file attached (a .pages in this example). Unfortunately, you have a laptop that runs Windows. Your friend continues to send tons of emails with .pages files attached and you are tired of manually saving the files as a .zip file. Ultimately, you would like Firefox to be set up so that the download/file manager recognizes the .pages extension and automatically converts it to a .zip file. What have I done? I have saved files manually by selecting save as "All Files" and setting the extension to .zip. I've gone through Firefox and their documentation and have not found anything on how to complete this task. Why am I doing this? To save time (only a few seconds, not the main reason). I would like to setup a simple solution that "converts" a file automatically without having to recall steps on how to achieve the task manually (for clients who aren't exactly tech savvy). So that clients with Windows can access the files. IMPORTANT NOTE: I am not trying to save the web page, rather an Apple document equivalent to Microsoft Word. UPDATE: The really easy method would be to save one file, right click it, choose properties and open all .pages files up with WinRAR (or any other program that extracts files from a compressed folder). For the sake of learning, I am going to "neglect" this method and continue to do some research on Firefox add-ons. I would still like to have Firefox or the download manager to do the bulk of the work for converting the file.

  • Disable default Gnome Shell Super Key Mapping

    Gnome Shell by default uses the Super (Windows) key to display the activities overview. But I'd prefer to use the Super key to invoke Synapse. Right now I have to press Super+Super+Spacebar in order to invoke Synapse which is annoying (Super+Spacebar is the binding to invoke Synapse). Is there any way to remove the default Gnome Shell mapping? In the keyboard shortcuts system settings, only the Alt+F1 binding appears for the activities overview action.

    I want to use WHM/Cpanel's Host Access Control interface to change some settings in hosts.allow and hosts.deny. I want to block all access to our SSH exept from the IP we have from our office. Daemon Access List Action Comment sshd ALL EXCEPT x.x.x.x deny Deny access from all other IPs apart from ours But I am worried about what happens if our IP changes, which it does about twice a week. How would I get back in to edit the hosts.allow / hosts.deny files?

  • Sending bulkmail from different server?

    I want to send bulk domains from my vps for a domain(cagetur.com) hosted in another company. The company(cagetur) will go on using the old hosting account for its mailing operations. The vps will just be used for smtp for once a week. I created an A record "vps.cagetur.com". directed it to the IP adress of vps then created a mx record with bigger preference number "50 vps.cagetur.com." on the domain control panel. When I trace the "vps.cagetur.com" i can reach my vps now. I installed hMail on the vps. Configure it (created domain, accounts). I have no information about "system" so i couldn't get further from this point. I can connect to the mail server with Outlook without errors. I can send an email from the account on the vps but it doesn't reaches. No errors, no emails. What do i have to do for getting it work? Thank you.

But I meet some error: "Action center.lnk" is a file which was downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it?   • SQL Server 2008 - Error starting service - model.mdf not found?!

    my SQL server 2008 was running fine. About an hour ago, it suddenly stopped - the MSSQLSERVER service had stopped I right clicked, clicked start, and it said the service had started, and stopped I looked in the event log and saw these two errors: 17207 : udopen: Operating system error 3(error not found) during the creation/opening of physical device C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\data\model.mdf. 17204 : FCB::Open failed: Could not open device C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\data\model.mdf for virtual device number (VDN) 1. The model.mdf db has NEVER been in that location - i specified drive F: to use for data / log during install. I checked the SQL Configuration Manager, to try and set startup params, but SQL Server is not listed as one of the services..... EDIT: I've now moved the db to where it was looking for: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\data\ directory. Now if I start the service, it still does not work - i get this error message in the log: Could not find row in sysindexes for database ID 3, object ID 1, index ID 1. Run DBCC CHECKTABLE on sysindexes. Interestingly, i checked the error log - around the time users reported problems, there is this: 2010-01-08 17:11:26.44 spid51 Configuration option 'show advanced options' changed from 0 to 1. I found a httpd.conf flavor I liked and am using it.

  • C# sends SQL data 4 times less from one box than from another

    W2003, .NET 3.5, SQL 2008 I have prod and UAT app servers deployed in 2 different data centres. I have a C# app which reads text file, parse the text and sends the data to the SQL in bulk. SQL server is in US and the app servers are in London (but in different places). All POPs have dedicated network connections. There is no public internet involved. When the app runs on UAT server I can see in Perfmon that the Send byte/sec is x4 higher than from production server. My estimate is that one server outputs at 1 MB/s and the other at 250 KB/s rate. My suspicion immediately is that there is a router on one of the DCs which shapes traffic or does QoS limitation on traffice from London to US. However support and Windows team and networkig team all are saying that there are no differences in neither networking config on the 2 DCs nor NIC config on the 2 app server... How to find out why is the networking bottlneck is 4 times tighter in one place than in the other? What can I do about it?

I want to remove those or put them into another system. Basically a "order after note(file) size" option is what I need.     the built in command line ftp client in server 2008 does not support passive mode so I've used these commands to allow outbound ftp (it stalls without this) 1) Open port 21 on the firewall netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="FTP (no SSL)" action=allow protocol=TCP dir=in localport=21 2) Activate firewall application filter for FTP (aka Stateful FTP) that will dynamically open ports for data connections netsh advfirewall set global StatefulFtp enable however in server 2008 r2, these commands seem to work, but it does not affect the outbound ftp, it stalls I do not want to use an alt client

Windows 7 still boots but every single action takes an aeon, and it is definitely due to a harddisk error not due to any spyware. I'm using the Ubuntu partition now. I've ordered a new harddrive but my laptop didn't come with a Windows 7 install disk (I think I was meant to make one with the windows 7 tools). So how can I install Windows 7 on my new harddrive?

  • Why am I seeing Zero errors in non-ECC RAM?

    According to sources, memory errors are a very probable event: Some say the probability of a DRAM error is 95% in just 3 days of operation of a computer with just 4 GB of RAM, others say 32% of servers experience at least one error in a month with 8% of DIMMs being at fault. Contrary to those horrors, in my more than 10 years of personal computers use I have seen exactly none of the memory errors. I admit I never paid special attention to the subject. However, I have ventured multi-hour memtest86 runs couple of times and never seen an error either. Some of the factors that IMO should aggravate the memory problems: I build my computers out of the most "bulk commodity" parts: mainstream budget motherboards and the next to cheapest memory. also I usually max out the technology available, e.g. in the times of 32 bit OS'es I used 4 GB of RAM and with the current desktop CPUs and the newer 64 bit OS'es I use 32 GB of RAM. memory usage is moderately heavy with lots of virtual machines up running small and big tasks 24/7/365. But nevertheless, no memory-related problems ever found! How's that?
