• Trouble with a query

  Hi there, I'm having trouble with a query in SQL Server 2008 on some forex trading data. I have a trades table and an orders table. A trade needs to comprise of 2 or more orders. DDL schema and sample data below. What I want to do is write a query that shows the profit/loss in pips for each trade. A pip is 1/1000th of a currency. So the difference between USD 1.3441 and 1.3442 is 1 pip in forex-speak. A trade usually has one entry order and multiple exit orders. So for example if I buy 3 lots of the currency pair GBP/USD at the exchange rate of 1.6100 and then sell 1 lot at 1.6150, 1 lot at 1.6200 and 1 lot at 1.6250 then the profit is (1.6150 - 1.6100) + (1.6200 - 1.6100) + (1.6250 - 1.6100), or 50 + 100 + 150 = 300 pips profit. The trade could also go the other way (Shorting). For example the currency pair can be sold first before it's bought back later at a cheaper price. I would like a query that returns the following: tradeId, currencyPair, profitInPips It seems like a pretty straightforward query, but it's eluding me right now. • Easy Oracle Log-Shipping

  Hi All I am looking for a decent way of keeping a secondary Oracle database up to date without exporting and importing the database each time. There are 3 users on the instance that I would essentially like to 'log ship' if thats what it is called on Oracle! Can anyone suggest anything? • Have to enter google sites through second-level domain

  I'm having the same problem as this guy. I own two domains hosted on google sites, mydomain.com and mydomain.net. When I go to mydomain.com, it redirects me to the site located at www.mydomain.com (this is the desired behavior). This used to also work on mydomain.net, but now when I go to mydomain.net, I get a Google 404. To see the content, I have to go to www.mydomain.net. As far as I can tell, the DNS settings and Google apps settings for both domains are identical. Does anybody have any idea about what could be happening?

• 64bit or 32bit Linux system?

  I have a server that has 4GB of RAM. On it, I have installation of 32bit Slackware Linux 12.1. Of course, it is not using all of 4GB of RAM. I'd soon like to increase the RAM to 8GB, and am looking for a way for the system to use it. The system is used as a database server and is under high load during the day. AFAICT, I have two options: stay with 32bit and rebuild the kernel and lose some performance. Or go with 64bit and reinstall everything. Looking at 64bit versions of Slackware, I could run -current or Slamd64. Now, on to the questions: Should I stay with 32bit or go with 64bit? If I go 64bit, should I use -current or Slamd64? P.S. I hope to get answers from someone actually using any of these configurations in production, not just copy/paste something I could find myself via Google.

  Update #3: Starting over from scratch, shortened this post, decided to re-install a clean copy of Ubuntu 10.04 on a VM and go through the walk-through again. So, all the steps go without a hitch. • Windows 2003 Dynamic Disk error

  Hi, I was trying to ghost a partition on a Windows 2003 server, using Ghost 2003. Unfortunately things went horribly wrong, and now I can't boot back into my system. As you can see, Ghost creates a wee little partition to do its dirty work, and has dislodged my other partitions. Partition 2 in the image below is my C drive. Any suggestions as to how I might get this active again so that it boots? Cheers, Chris

• Excel scatter chart with multiple date ranges

  I have multiple blocks of time series data on an Excel sheet, with each block having its own set of dates. For example, I might have dates in column A, values in column B, and then dates in column D and values in column E. The values in B go with the dates in A, and the values in E go with the dates in D. The dates in A and D may not be the same. I would like to create a scatter chart with a time category axis that is the union of my two input date ranges in columns A and D. If I select all the data and then go insert chart (in Excel 2010), Excel treats only column A as the X axis, and looks at D as just another set of values. I can get Excel to do what I want by first just charting columns A and B, then selecting D and E and copy-pasting onto the chart. However, I would like to avoid this two-step procedure if possible.

  Previous information concerning my issue can be found here: Virus...? Tons of people talking. Not sure where else to ask. I heard the loud sounds and whatnot from one of the ads but nothing was harmed and other than having the life scared out of me nothing was immediately affected. Literally nothing has changed. I really don't know what to do. My PC seems fine and from what Malwarebytes and Spybot tells me none of my files have been infected with anything. • Burning Xvid and Dvix Files problems

  Hi I am using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit edition and Nero 8. Recently I noticed that every time I go to nero and burn a dvix/xvid file as a data DVD and try to play it in a dvd player that supports these types it does not load up and play. I then go to my XP machine with Nero 6 on it and burn the exact same file as a data DVD and it works in the exact same dvd player. I am not sure why this is happening? I am not sure if it is windows 7, nero 8 or my actual dvd burner that is the problem. How should I go about and figure out what the problem is? Thanks

• Upgrading from Windows 8 RTM to Release, if there is a difference

  So I'm kinda stuck in a hard place. I'm wanting to finally re-install Windows and looking at whether I should stick to tried and true Windows 7 or go with the funky and experimental Windows 8. As such I've virtualised Windows 8 RTM, looked at its features and GUI and I'm quite impressed, personally. So I'm willing to upgrade to it. However Windows 8's release is just under 50 days away according to Wikipedia and I'm impatient, so if I go to RTM and like it enough to continue using it, will I be able to go to "release" version and receive updates for it as normal or would I have to reinstall again?

• Windows XP Does Not Follow CNAME Shares

  I am supporting a mix of Windows XP Pro and Windows 7 desktops in my Active Directory network, and I am having an odd issue with XP and CNAME records. Say I have a record in my DNS for a server with an A name of something like STORAGE.company.local and give it a CNAME of NAS.company.local. I can go onto an XP and 7 computer, and ping NAS and it will automatically resolve to STORAGE.company.local. If I am on Windows 7 and go to run and enter \\STORAGE or \\NAS, it will go to that server in Explorer. If I do the same in XP, STORAGE will work but NAS will not. It just times out Is there some setting buried in XP to make this work properly?

  I have an interent connection with the speed of 4000k bits up and down. I want to do port based traffic shaping on a ubuntu machine, which acts as router. eth0 is the WAN interface. This is how I would like to allocate bandwidth: For ports 80 and 445 the bandwidth usage can go upto 90% For ports above 1024 upto 65535 the bandwidth usage can go upto 10% For remaining ports the bandwidth usage can go upto 40% The easiest way for achieving the above is using a router with tomato firmware. I have used it and it is very efficient. I want to try if it can be done on a Ubuntu or any GNU/Linux machine. I have googled extensively about the topic and I feel there isn't much information.

I'm looking to incrementally backup new and updated files in two directories on my Plesk run Centos 5.2 server: /backups and /var/www/vhosts (preferable only httdocs within each vhost) Has anyone got some great feedback from using the various solutions - seems to be various Java, Perl and Ruby based solutions out there. • Grep the whole body of a function

  Supposing I know that someFile.php contains the definition for someFunction(). How would I go about displaying the whole body of the function in stdout? If I know that the body is 10 lines long then I would use cat someFile.php | grep -A 10 "function someFunction" [1] but in reality the function could be any arbitrary length. I figured that with sed I could use Vimesque commands such as /function someFunction<Return>/{<Return>% [2] but I can't figure out exactly how to format it. Ideally, the PHPDoc before the function would be output along with the function. Any help or links to the appropriate fine manual would be appreciated. Thanks! • IIS cannot access itself

  We are on a corporate network that uses ISA and I am having issues trying to not have requests go through ISA. I have IIS7 on my local Windows 7 machine that has websites and a service layer. The websites access the service layer using a xxxx.servicelayer.local address that is set up in my HOSTS file to point to 127.0.0.1. I have Windows Firewall client which I have disabled. I have tried both adding this address into IE so that it does not go through ISA and also disabled this section altogether. When the website (which is actually IIS making the request to itself) tries to access the service layer I receive an ISA error that proxy authentication has failed. Considering that everything I can see to configure is set to not go through the proxy, ISA, I cannot see how this is actually going through the proxy and giving this error. Is there something within Windows 7 that forces the proxy setting, some sort of caching or similar?

• On WHM/cPanel how can you tell which packages are in use?

  I want to find out a) which packages are currently in use, and b) which accounts are using them, so I can do some housekeeping. If I go to 'Show Reseller Accounts', it'll list all the accounts by reseller and I can see which accounts use which, so I could go the longhand route of counting through them one by one, but I wondered if there's a way of getting a simple listing. NB: I've seen that if I go to 'Edit Reseller privileges & nameservers' for one of my resellers, I'll see a 'Package limits' table which has a 'Current' column that shows exactly what I'm looking for... but it's for that reseller only, and I don't get this table for resellers that have no package limits (e.g. me).

• Why can't I access my website with domain? It works with IP address only

  In the past we didn't have a proper domain name for our site, now I have registered a proper domain name, but now I experiance the following problem: If I go to https://46.144.46.214/ita I can access the portal without any problem; If I go to https://ita.telvent-netherlands.com/ita I receive a time-out in Internet Explorer. But if I go to https://ita.telvent-netherlands.com/ I see that I reach the IIS server so the DNS is working. Do you know how it is possible that I can reach it by IP and not by name? I need to reach it by domain. Thank you in advance.

• Where to put unix sockets

  I am new to this, so sorry if its obvious. I am running a debian server and installing the likes of UWSGI, NGinx etc on there. The configurations keep talking about pointing to "sockets". In the build options I seem to be able to specify where the sockets for each program go. By default it looks like most of them go in /tmp/ (not all of them). Is this a good place for them to go? Im trying to keep things as organised as possible but just bunging them in my tmp directory doesnt seem like the best option.

• WAMP can connect to localhost but not 127.0.0.1

  I'm running WAMP which was working fine the other day. Today I tried connecting to 127.0.0.1 and my browser throws a 404. Both firefox and chrome. My hosts file is correct mapping 127.0.0.1 to localhost. I can telnet to both the IP and localhost port 80 and see a response from apache. When I go to localhost I see the WAMP landing page. I can go to localhost/folder and view the applications just fine. What can be causing the 404's when I go to 127.0.0.1?

  On IIS 7.5 I am trying to achieve this with two websites: Default Web Site is bound to: (blank host header port 80 - http) (blank host header port 443 - https) go.example.com www71.example.com the IP address of go.example.com 2nd web site "Beta" is bound to: beta.example.com (blank host header port 443 - https) * using blank only because it doesn't seem to be possible to bind https to a named host header And both need to work with SSL. But I have these problems: When I type in beta.example.com, I see the go.example.com site instead I can not seem to add the SSL binding to both websites at once (I have a single *.example.com wildcard certificate). The beta site will not even start if I add the https binding to it. This is how I have set it up: What is the correct way to set it up?
