• OpenVPN stopped working, what could have happened?

  I have Openvpn, and it worked great when I used it on PC (Windows 8), then I copied all files (Certificates and config) to an Android 4 phone to use them. Now, Openvpn works on the phone, but not the PC. Specifically, when I open Google I get: The server at www.google.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed, but the VPN seems to be connected. I have a simple question, could the problem be because I copied the same files? • What options are there for generating custom text snippets on the Mac?

  As I am getting more heavily into programming as a job and no longer as a hobby, I am definitely in need of some ways to improve my productivity. One thing that would definitely help in that respect is being able to create customized keyboard shortcuts for text/code snippets. For instance, holding down CMD+L+O+R+E+M will output a paragraph or two of the Lorem ipsum filler text, or CMD+F+U creates a function declaration. What I am ideally looking for is a database where I can store formatted text snippets, bind them to my choice of keystrokes, and then have the text paste whenever I perform the associated keystrokes. Are there any stand-alone applications that can do this for a Mac. Also, are there any text editors / IDEs that have this ability built in?

  I have a windows app (app.exe) build with visual studio 2008, for which I have created a custom installer class. When I run installutil.exe on app.exe, the custom installer is executed OK. I then added a setup & deployment project to create the windows installer file app.msi - this works fine but it does not run the custom installer. How is my custom installer class supposed to get linked to the setup MSI file?

  I'm pretty new to Sharepoint and what I would like to do is create a huge master list of all our employees and then make different "views" on that person depending on the persons group For example: A new employee might have Salary info Security info Personnel info Contract info I would like to have all that in one row (per employee) but then when someone from the hr group logs in they can only see Personnel and Salary or something like that. If that is not an option is there a way to link tables across different lists?

• not getting output from parmiko/ssh command

  I am using paramiko/ssh/python to attempt to run a command on a remote server. When I ssh manually and run the command in question, I get the results I want. But if I use the python (co-opted from another thread on this site) below, there is no returned data. If I modify the command to be something more basic like 'pwd' or 'ls' I can then get the output. Any help is appreciated. • How to use a custom Windows 7 system drive letter?

  The subject PC has many hard drive partitions dedicated for different purposes, C: being a Windows XP system drive and F: (which is actually the next primary partition placed right after C: physically) being intended to host a newly installed Windows 7 instance (meant for "dual boot" configuration). Needless to say the intention was all the partitions to have exactly the same letters under both OSes, needless to say Windows 7 has detected all of them in a completely different order which would not be a problem (as the non-system drives letters can be changed easily after installation) if it wouldn't have named it's system drive C: (meant to be F:), which I have no Idea how to change. Is there a way to set the letter you want? I don't mind reinstalling Windows 7 from scratch if it is to be set at installation time or even configured in some text files on the installation DVD. I have tried this way, but it renders the Windows 7 system desktop unbootable (gets stuck on "Preparing your desktop..." after "Welcome").

  We are actively using the Follow Up mail feature to assign users to particular mail follow up items. Although mail item follow ups are generally the province of the individual user, by changing the flag value from "Follow Up" to "User name", we can see each other's follow up tasks and group on responsible party. Currently we accomplish the Flag value change manually. My sense is the easiest way to perfect the process is a separate macro for each user. Along the lines of the macro to change the star/end due date to end of month, please define the macro to re-assign the Flag value for each highlighted mail item (previously assigned by default). • How can I install a custom (patched) PECL extension?

  I'm trying to use the htscanner PECL extension on my CentOS 5/PHP 5.2.6 machine, but there's a bug in the latest version where a newline character is added to the end of every php_value directive. This behavior causes my include_path and error_log values not to work. The bug and the patch are documented on the PECL site: http://pecl.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=16891 I've downloaded the latest version, applied the patch, and re-compressed the package — but I can't get the PECL installer to accept it — or any local package, for that matter. I've tried every variation of the pecl install syntax that I can think of, and the only times I'm able to get it to work, it downloads an online copy first and ignores the local copy. Can anyone recommend a method for installing a PECL extension from a local file? Thanks for your consideration.

• What is a good third-party SMTP software for custom logging?

  I am currently using IIS 6 SMTP to send out some of our mail and I unfortunately amn't finding the logging performed by it to be verbose enough - nor am I able to customise it to the level I would find verbose enough. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a piece of third-party SMTP software which would allow for customisability of the logging down to the point where I can inject in my own columns or perform regular expressions on the outgoing message data or headers.

• Objective-C++ Memory Problem

  Hello, I'm having memory woes. I've got a C++ Library (Equalizer from Eyescale) and they use the Traversal Visitor Pattern to allow you to add new functionality to their classes. I've finally figured out how it works, and I've got a Visitor that just returns the properties from one of the objects. (since I don't know how they're allocated). so. My little code does this: VisitorResult AGLContextVisitor::visit( Channel* channel ) { // Search through Nodes, Pipes until we get to the right window. // Add some code to make sure we find the right one? // Not executing the following code as C++ in gdb? eq::Window* w = channel->getWindow(); OSWindow* osw = w->getOSWindow(); AGLWindow* aw = (AGLWindow *)osw; AGLContext agl_ctx = aw->getAGLContext(); this->setContext(agl_ctx); return TRAVERSE_PRUNE; } So here's the problem. eq::Window* w = channel->getWindow(); (gdb) print w 0x0 BUT If I do this: (gdb) set objc-non-blocking-mode off (gdb) print w=channel->getWindow() 0x300effb9 // an honest memory location, and sets w as verified in the Debugger window of XCode. It does the same thing for osw. I don't get it. Why would something work in (gdb) but not in the code? The file is completely a cpp file, but it seems to be running in objc++, since I need to turn blocking off. Help!? I feel like I'm missing some memory-management basic thing here, either with C++ or Obj-C. [edit] channel-getWindow() is supposed to do this: /** @return the parent window. @version 1.0 */ Window* getWindow() { return _window; } The code also executes fine if I run it from a C++-only application. [edit] No... I tried creating a simple stand-alone program since I was tired of running it as a plugin. Messy to debug. And no, it doesn't run in the C++ program either. This example works great when run by JDK-1.6, with the following output: Press Enter to interrupt I/O XXXX Interrupting... Closed via Thread.interrupt() — meaning that only 128k of data was written to the TCP socket's buffer.   Hello, Let's consider that I want to extend an existing JSF component, such as the <rich:datatable/>. My main requirement is to dynamically modify the content of a <f:facet>, to change its content. What is the best way to achieve that? Or where is the best place in the code to achieve that? One of my idea is to modify the content of the <f:facet> directly in the doEncodeBegin() method of my renderer. This is working (in fact almost working), but I don't really think that's the better place to achieve my modification. What do you think? Is it possible to get around the uXXXXXXXX requirement, and set a username to be whatever I want it to be? If that's not possible, what is the reason for having a mandatory prefix like this?

• Web Development - How to access custom host, defined in my hosts file, from another device in the same network

  Ok, I hope i'll be able to explain the issue im experiencing. I'm working on a project, that has 2 parts: one takes all requests from usual localhost, the other handles requests from myhost.local. While trying to access both addresses from my computer, it works ok. But now i need to test myhost.local on mobile devices, connected to the same network. Usually i would just run server from my computer ip in the network: python manage.py runserver 10.0.0.8:8000 And then from any device, going to 10.0.0.8:8000 would show the project im working on. However, now accessing that ip address routes me straight to localhost. So, my question is how to access myhost.local from another device in same network? I don't want to change router settings, if that can be avoided, cos sometimes i work from places where i can't access router admin. Is there any network settings on my computer, that i can change to fix the routing to myhost.local w.o losing access to localhost as well?
