Is there anyone who has a good (basic) UML class diagram to get me started on an object oriented CMS?
I want to start using OOP in PHP but can't seem to find a good starting point.
Is something better than firebug in IE 8 Developer toolbar? How to use IE 8 Developer toolbar in a way like we use firebug in firefox.? Is there any good tutorial on "how to take good use of IE 8 Developer toolbar"?
.NET provides a great library for working with SMTP for sending messages, however, there is not an implementation of a Pop3 client, or IMAP client for working with receiving e-mail from a mail host.
Does anyone know of a good component that can provide Pop, IMAP, or both support? I know that code project has implementations, but from my experience finding a "good" one is hard.

As a reasonable proficient Python programmer, I'm wondering what a good second language to learn would be. More specifically, something that does well the things that Python doesn't in general do as well. My first guess would be C/C++ since it's got easy extensibility with Python and because it offers generally better performance, but I'm wondering if Java or C# might be a better or at least equivalently good option with different up/downsides compared to C/C++.
I'm looking for a good ruler to use to measure distances in a browser. I use Firefox. Any good suggestions that are currently being used by other developers.
I have firebug, but I don't think it has a ruler. Does it? I would think a ruler would have made it to firebug, but there doesn't seem to be one, or I'm not looking in the right location.
Thanks
We are using PHP,MySQL,SVN, and Apache. I want to know if I assume the local subnet trusted, and allow all ports on our subnet using iptables, then allow only port 80 as open to "anyone". If it is "good security" taking that the subnet is trusted as a premise. This is also assuming good PHP code etc, and that apache is configured correctly.
This is using CentOS 5.
Do anyone know where to find good online resources with examples how to make grammars and parsetrees? Preferebly introductary materials.
Info that is n00b friendly, haven't found anything good with google myself.
edit: I'm thinking about theory, not a specific parser software.
Does anyone know of a good Job scheduler UI widget?
The ideal component would be a Javascript widget (hopefully JQuery) that allows a user to select a frequency which is converted to a cron expression.
Anything good out there?
Hello folks,
does anyone have any good links/tutorials about how to create a simple ASP.NET MVC website, and have it run against a Local IIS7 Web Server, instead of the default Visual Studio Development Server (aka Cassini).
Yes, i tried google, but i fail at getting some good keywords, etc.
Cheers :)
In your opinion, which PHP CMS has the best architecture? I don't care about how easy its admin panel is to use, or how many CMS features it has. Right now, I'm after how good its code is (so, please, don't even mention Drupal or Wordpress /shudder). I want to know which ones have a good, solid, OOP codebase.
Please provide as much detail as you can in your replies.
I often heard, that those things cannot be teached, because you can master them only through good gut feeling fed with years of experience. However various patterns and principles are quite well documented and I start to think, that you can actually learn quite a lot of good stuff from books, training and exercises. What is your uptake?
I'm building a simple site that allows users to post text content and I want to add it to a search index as it gets posted, so my site search is up to date. From what I can tell Lucene.NET is a good full text search framework. I've found very few examples of how to use it though. Can anyone post some good references for learning about Lucene?
Working with android I realized that implicit intents are good choice in most of cases due to their's flexibility. But what's about explicit intents?
What are benefits of using them? What are common cases when it's a good practice to use them?
We are looking for a .NET PDF creator. It needs to be .NET, so we can just copy the file(s) onto the server, not having to install anything.
We only need to create a PDF with some text and images and a heading, that's all.
Anyone know a good one? We are happy to buy if there is a good one that is easy to use.
Thanks in advance.
Hy,
I have a layout that has 2 cols and in every view i have: content_for :main_col and content_for :side_col
in some parts of the site, the side_col is always the same and how do i do that being DRY? partial render? i dont think is so good.
then it comes to cache.. the content_for is not good to cache...
you have better ideias on how to implement this?thanks
I am fresh out of college, I'm pretty skilled in weblanguages like PHP, Perl, Javascript (JQuery).
I have some basic skills in java, experienced c++ a little.
People have been telling me c# is a good way to go because a lot of companies look for .NET developers.
What would be a good next move for me ?
I was wondering if anyone was familiar with any attempts at algorithmic sentence negation.
For example, given a sentence like "This book is good" provide any number of alternative sentences meaning the opposite like "This book is not good" or even "This book is bad".
Obviously, accomplishing this with a high degree of accuracy would probably be beyond the scope of current NLP, but I'm sure there has been some work on the subject. If anybody knows of any work, care to point me to some papers?
I'm going to start a new project with instant message support.
I find that there is no good long polling solution in PHP, but there is some good ones in J2EE.
I'm wondering if I can integrate PHP and J2EE to get the function? Or should I just use J2EE instead of PHP?
Thanks.
Could anybody offer any advice on a good book that would help me install Project server 2010 on Sharepoint 2010 standalone? Or any good Project Server book...
Thanks
Are the current ebook readers good enough for reading programming books (containing diagrams, source-code, screenshots, and so on)? How good are the search functions or the possibilities to set bookmarks, to use a book as a reference?
I'd like to hear opinions of ebook reader owners to help me decide whether or not I should buy an ebook reader.
(I know this question already exists, but it's over one year old and new ebook readers are now available)
