  • How can I create and call a javascript function on a dynamically loaded user control?

    when i try to call a javascript function in a dynamically loaded user control, it cannot find the function specified. I have a user control for organizationDetails.ascx. In there, I am using modal popup extender to get some information from the user and then i verify the address through google and suggests the proper format. I am trying to use a java script for a function called for onBlur of a textbox but the mozilla firebug says that the function is not defined, which is not the case. It would be great if someone can help me out here.

    I have added a default menu control into my user control. It is being combined with some other controls as part of a custom Window chrome. I need to style the menu to make it appear simpler. The main thing I need to do is to remove the left margin containing the space for the icon or checkbox. How can I do this?   • How would I strip an '&' symbol out of an ESRI dropdown before any of it's default control logic is

    I have an ESRI dropdown control inside of an ESRI toolbar. One of the items in the dropdown needs to have an '&' symbol in it. As it turns out ESRI stuff builds it's callback strings as & delimited strings, so when an item is selected the parent toolbar immediately builds and handles the callback string. At one point it splits strings based on the '&' crashing the app. In effect, having an ampersand in an esri dropdown causes nasty stuff to happen when you select the item. What I need to do is find out how I can hop in before the callback stuff starts happening and strip that & out. I was thinking that perhaps I'd have to create a custom esri toolbar control, but I'm not sure and that'd be pretty undesirable. Any ideas?

    Can I pass events like key strokes to another control in Silverlight? Imagine I'm in a custom control that contains a Textbox and a Treeview. I'm listening to a Key event for the TextBox. When the user pushes the Arrow Up or Arrow Down key, I want the Treeview to behave as if it's itself who received that event, i.e. it should move the current selection up or down. The user shouldn't lose focus on the TextBox though so that they can continue typing. Is this possible? I don't want to set the selection manually on the Treeview because it has no easy MoveSelectionUp() or MoveSelectionDown() method, so I would have to duplicate that functionality which is not so trivial especially when the tree is databound and loads nodes on demand.

    Given: I have a custom server control in the markup of an aspx page. This control creates child controls in its CreateChildControls() method (e.g. it retrieves content from a database and based on that content dynamically creates either a CheckBoxList or a RadioButtonList) Now I understand that I cannot access the dynamically created controls on postback unless I add them again on Page_Init or Page_PreInit (as per here). My question is, how do I add them again explicitly in Page_Init or Page_PreInit if they are just going to be added yet again when we get around to calling Render() on each of the custom server controls? I'm very certain this is not a unique problem, so there must be a best practice way of doing it...I just don't know what it is :/

    we have implemented the code for installing the messenger theme pack using the client side scripting in a web page. We are creating an object of the messenger using the classid .Using this object we call the installcontent() method and try to install the messenger theme pack hosted at following path: http://www.messengerexpressions.com/assets/worldCup/cabs/en-gb.cab Our code initially checks whether the messenger is installed on the user machine or not. Then it checks for the user login ,once the messenger is installed on the machine. And if the user is signed-in , the messenger theme pack is installed. The code currently when hosted on IIS checks the “Sign-In of the user” but when it tries to install the theme pack an error is thrown “An ActiveX control on this page is unsafe.Your current security settings prohibit running unsafe control on this page.As a result,this page may not be display as intended.” Please let us know if any setting is required on IIS for running this piece of codeor anything that we are missing out.

How to implement a auto resize control, just like a TextBox in a grid cell. The TextBox will auto resize to fill grid cell if grid resized.

    Hi all, in my windows form (Visual C++ 6.0) I'm using an Active x control called "CDTPicker" (CDTPicker : public CWnd). My control is opened up by the click event of another button. like this (works fine): void CProducerDlg::OnSelect() { ... m_wndDatePicker.SetValue(varVariant); // hide date combo box if first entry has been chosen m_wndDate.ShowWindow(SW_HIDE); // show date picker if first entry is chosen m_wndDatePicker.ShowWindow(SW_SHOW); // open up calendar view [tbd] ... } What I need is the calendar view to open up expanded (showing the complete month). The dropdown list contains about 5000 element.     This must be a FAQ, but I can’t find a duplicate question! There are lot of different attributes that control what the WinForm Designer does with properties on a custom control, I am never clear on the one I should use in this case. I am looking for: Designer does not show property in grid Designer does not read value of property Designer does not set property to default value E.g. Designer behaves as if the property was not there. Designer does not complain if it has already done one of the above before the attributes were added (hard!) Background. The code that is giving me the problem is: this.eventListControl.FilterSets = ((SystList<FilterSet>)(resources.GetObject("eventListControl.FilterSets"))); The FilterSets property should never have been touched by the winforms designer; it is now not Serializable and MsDev falls over every time a form that used the eventListControl is changed!

  • Alternate to control+drag to connect view element with file owner in xCode interface builder?

    Working on an iPhone application through a TightVNC connection into a Mac Mini; the control+drag operation in Interface Builder to connect a view element to file owner doesn't work - I don't see the connecting line. It does work when I connect keyboard, mouse and monitor to the Mini and work on it directly, however it is a lot more convenient for me to run it through a VNC connection. Must be some quirk of the TightVNC connection that is preventing this. I tried different TightVNC settings for the cursor (let server handle it and so on) but no luck. Is there an alternative to control+drag to hook up outlets?

Specifically I would like my job's output files content and name to be organized by the ket the reducer outputs - each file would only contain values for one key and its name would be the key.   • How can I resolve ASP.NET "~" app paths to the website root without a Control being present?

    I want to Resolve "~/whatever" from inside non-Page contexts such as Global.asax (HttpApplication), HttpModule, HttpHandler, etc. but can only find such Resolution methods specific to Controls (and Page). I think the app should have enough knowledge to be able to map this outside the Page context. No? Or at least it makes sense to me it should be resolvable in other circumstances, wherever the app root is known. Update: The reason being I'm sticking "~" paths in the web.configuration files, and want to resolve them from the aforementioned non-Control scenarios. Update 2: I'm trying to resolve them to the website root such as Control.Resolve(..) URL behaviour, not to a file system path.

    I am working on a small project, hosted on Google Code, using SVN for source control. This is my first time using source control, and I'm a bit confused about what I should actually be committing to the repository. My project is very simple: A Class Library project, written in C#. The actual code that I have written is a single file. My question is this: Should I be committing the entire project (including directories like Debug, Release, Properties, etc.) or just my main .cs file?     I am trying to avoid building two buttons when I really need one. In my Silverlight app scenarios, I have few grids with a different content and buttons that control the visibility of these grids. I need to be able to show a different visual for a button when its content grid is visible. I can control states such as MouseOver and Pressed and more with visual state manage. However, I am not sure how to achieve this functionality with. I also can place an image on top of the button and switch the visibility of both but it is not perfect for what I need. I am wondering if there is any way to achieve this behavior. Any ideas are highly appreciated!

    Hi, I have a control that has a "Filter" property that expects a function that defines how the contents of the control should be filtered. so far i am setting the filter in code behind as such: MyControl.Filter = AddressOf Filters.MyFilter In this example MyFilter is a shared function in the Filters class with the following signature: Public Shared Function MyFilter(ByVal obj As Object, ByVal text As String) As Boolean I would like to set this in xaml. I was thinking of setting the Filters.MyFilter as a static resource and setting it that way: ...Filter="{StaticResource myFilter}"/ but i cant set Filters.MyFilter as a static resource. Any ideas on how to achieve this? Thanks,
