  • How long can rails keep Ajax open

    My application is suppose to constantly update the page without any user interaction. The criteria is that the page just has to be there, as an extra window on the monitor so the user can see the information get updated real time. I'm using the Ajax in jQuery with Rails, and my question is - how long will the .erb page keep Ajax open? Will there be a point where I have to refresh the page or re-initialize? Or will that won't be a problem at all?

  • Need Google Map InfoWindow Hyperlink to Open Content in Overlay (Fusion Table Usage)

    I have the following code established to render the map in my site. When the map is clicked, the info window pops up with a bunch of content including a hyperlink to open up a website with a form in it. I would like to utilize a function like fancybox to open up this link "form" in an overlay. I have read that fancybox doesn't support calling the function from within an iframe, and was wondering if there was a way to pass the link data to the DOM and trigger the fancybox (or another overlay option) in another way?     I'm playing around with URL schemes in my app. I easily made one to open my app, just adding the necessary items to info.plist. This current URL "myappname://" takes the user to the initial view controller, FirstTableViewController, but I was wondering if it would be possible to modify that URL scheme so it I can have one that takes the user to a certain view controller, such as ThirdTableViewController. I would use this as a handy feature in something like Launch Center.
