  Hello, I need to determin the COM component(unmanaged code) type and invoke the exposed interface's methods using reflection in C#.NET at runtime. 1 -- First What member of "Type" tells that type is COM component and we can take CLSID at runtime? Is Type.COMObject? 2 -- I need to call methods of exposed interfaces as they called in unmanaged code using CoCreateInstance by passing CLSID and REFID ... I am using InvokeMember but it returns null or 0 as out parameter. How to pass out parameter in this case.? Is there any need to pass out parameter? As all my COM unamanged code suppose to take las parameter as an OUT parameter and after executing it puts the result into that out param. But I've converted all my unmanged COM code to .NET managed assemblies using tlbimp.exe. Regards Usman

  I'll try to explain what Im after. I dont know the technical term for it, so here goes: Example 1: If I place a LisView on a Form and add som columns I am able, in Design-Time, to click-and-drag the columns to resize them. Example 2: Now, I place a ListView in a UserControl and name it "MyCustomListView" (and perhaps add some method to enhance it somehow). If I know place the "MyCustomListView" on a Form I am unable to click-and-drag the column headers to resize them in Design-Time. Is there any way to easily make that happen? Some form of "pass the click-and-drag event to the underlying control and let that control do its magic". Im not really looking to recode, just pass on the mouseclick (or whatever it is) and let the, in this case, ListView react as it did in the first example above. Regards

• Java Audit table logging, MySQL equivalent of CONTEXT_INFO.

  Hi, I am looking for the MySQL equivalent of CONTEXT_INFO that is present in SQL Server. Or any other session variable like thing using which I can pass the username to the trigger. I am currently working on logging table data for audit. I need to pass the username of the logged in user to the delete trigger. Any ideas? We are deleting the rows from the table in a few cases and marking them as deleted in others. Any alternate solutions are welcome. I thought of using AOP but it could prove problematic when deleting a cascade. I want to look into Hibernate Interceptors, not sure at this point if that works. If I can find the MySQL equivalent of CONTEXT_INFO, my job is done and elegant as well. Thanks, Julia.

  Hey everyone, What I am trying to do is pass the raw content of an outgoing email to spamassassin in order to calculate a spam score. I am stuck in how I might get the raw content of the email. My C# code currently just constructs the MailMessage and passes it the SmtpClient's Send() method. Before sending, is there a way to get a raw version of the mail message (as the protocol might see it) so that I can pass this to the spamassassin tool for spam assessment? • Guests can't access KVM host server by name although nslookup and dig returns correct record

  So I have a KVM host that also runs an apache server with some yum repos. The VM guests are connected to the default virtual network, which is configured to offer DHCP and forwarding with NAT on virbr0 (192.168.12.1). The guests can successfully access the yum repos on the host by IP address, so for example curl 192.168.122.1/repo1 returns the content without problems. But I'd like to have the guests be able to reach the web server on the host by name rather IP address. • Modify an object without using it as parameter

  I have a global object "X" and a class "A". I need a function F in A which have the ability to modify the content of X. For some reason, X cannot be a data member of A (but A can contain some member Y as reference of X), and also, F cannot have any parameter, so I cannot pass X as an parameter into F. (Here A is an dialog and F is a slot without any parameter, such as accept() ) How can I modify X within F if I cannot pass X into it? Is there any way to let A know that "X" is the object it need to modify?? I try to add something such as SetItem to specify X in A, but failed.

  I have a code that is compiled in both gcc and vc++. The code has a common macro which is called in two scenarios. When we pass some parameters to it. When we don't want to pass any parameters to it. An example of such a code is: #define B(X) A1##X int main() { int B(123), B(); return 0; } The expect output from the pre-processing step of compilation is: int main() { int A1123, A1; return 0; } The output for both gcc and vc++ is as expected, but vc++ gives a warning: warning C4003: not enough actual parameters for macro 'B' How can I remove this warning and yet get the expected output? • Superfluous python parameters

  I've noticed a discrepancy in the way that python parameters are called. In every other language I've dealt with, you either have foo() meaning either no parameters, or as many parameters as you like, or foo(arg1, arg2,...,argn) where you pass in the same number of parameters to define the function and call it. In python however, I've noticed that the function definitions, and when the function is called, can have two different parameters sets, this usually consists of: class foo(object): def bar(self, arg1, arg2): pass However, when I want to call the function, all I have to do is: zoo = foo() zoo.bar(arg1, arg2) Where did the self parameter go? • PGP Command Line Decryption --- How to decrypt file?

  I was sent a public key in order to decrypt a pgp-encrypted file. I imported the key with: gpg --import publickey.asc And verified it with gpg --list-keys Now, I'm trying to decrypt the file. I put the passphrase in a file called pass.txt and ran this at the command line: gpg --passphrase-fd ../../pass.txt --decrypt encryptedfile.txt.pgp --output encryptedfile.txt All it says is: Reading passphrase from file descriptor 0 ... And doesn't seem to be doing anything else. I can't tell if it's hanging or not. Is it a relatively quick process? The file is large ( about 2 GB ). Is the syntax for it correct?

• What's the convention for extending Linq with set based helper operations

  Hi All I might be vaguing out here but I'm looking for a nice place to put set based helper operations in linq so I can do things like; db.Selections.ClearTemporary() which does something like db.DeleteAllOnSubmit(db.Selections.Where(s => s.Temporary)) Since I can figure out how to extend Table<Selection> the best I can do is create a static method in partial class of Selection (similar to Ruby) but I have to pass in the datacontext like; Selection.ClearTemporary(MyDataContext) This kind of sucks because I have two conventions for doing set based operations and I have to pass the data context to the static class. I've seen other people recommending piling helper methods into a partial of the datacontext like; myDataContext.ClearTemporarySelections(); But I feel this makes the dc a dumping ground for in-cohesive operations. Surely I'm missing something. I hope so. What's the convention? TIA

  I have a hard drive that I've been trying to reformat. I tried reformatting it in the windows XP and 7 installers, and in an Ubuntu live cd with gparted. I tried using dd to 'zero' the drive as well with no success. Finally I ran across KillDisk after a search. • Scala Actors with Java interop to underlying COM libraries

  I'm working on a JVM project which uses ESRI components (COM based, wrapped with JIntegra.) The client has requested the JAR files we produce work on the JVM and be accessible to Java code. I'd like to use Scala but I'm worried about how well the library will play with Scala's actors. Particularly I'm worried about the different mechanisms COM and Java employ to pass objects from one thread to another. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will they play nice? Edit: for clarification I noticed that when performing I/O on the ESRI DB that the CPU utilization is roughly 15%. I'd like to read each row and pass that row over to another actor for parsing. Then I could have several threads reading from the DB at once. The problem is that each row retrieved using ESRI's library is actually a Java wrapped COM object.

  Does anybody know if Microsoft is planning on having IE9 pass with 100/100 on acid 3? The current version of IE9 gets a 68/100 on the test (can be viewed here, main site here). • Passing a ManagedObjectContext to a second view

  I'm writing my first iPhone/Cocoa app. It has two table views inside a navigation view. When you touch a row in the first table view, you are taken to the second table view. I would like the second view to display records from the CoreData entities related to the row you touched in the first view. I have the CoreData data showing up fine in the first table view. You can touch a row and go to the second table view. I'm able to pass info from the selected object from the first to the second view. But I cannot get the second view to do its own CoreData fetching. For the life of me I cannot get the managedObjectContext object to pass to the second view controller. I don't want to do the lookups in the first view and pass a dictionary because I want to be able to use a search field to refine results in the second view, as well as insert new entries to the CoreData data from there. • Where does the version number come from?

  I have a version control system (e.g. Subversion) and now I'd like to set up a build process. Now I have to create a version number and insert it into the system. But where does the version number come from and get into? Assume I want to use this common <major.<minor.<bugfix/revision scheme. Should I pass a number to the build script? Or should I pass arguments like increaseMajor, increaseMinor, increaseRevision? Or would you recommend to create a branch with the number which will be detected by the build script? I could imagine that the major and minor version number have to be put in manually somewhere. The revision number could be increased automaically. But still I don't know where I would place the major and minor number. In my case I have some php files that I would like to zip, but before I have to insert some version numbers into php file. I have edited this post to try to make my request clearer: I do not use Subversion, that was just an example. And I don't want to discuss the version number scheme. Imagine I want to create version 3.5.0 or 3.5.1. Would I pass this version number to a build script? Would the script create the branch in the repository with this number or would it expect that someone has already created this branch? Manually? Or would the build script look for name of the branch (e.g. '3.5.1) and use it for further things? And does the version number come from my brain or is it automatically created (I guess the major/minor number it comes from my little brain and revision number is created)? Or would you place the number into a file that may gets inserted into the repository? I guess if would use a release management tool I would insert the version number there. But I don't use one yet.

• Why do Ping and Dig provide different IP address than nslookup?

  When pinging my domain name which points to my home public IP from two different servers on my LAN, it shows them pinging different IP. Further investigation shows dig and nslookup providing different results. See below. A little history. My IP used to be 11.22.33.444 and is hosted by Comcast. I changed routers, and it somehow got changed to 55.66.77.888. I've since updated my 1and1 domain name to point to the 55.66.77.888. desktop is a basic server, runs the web server, and connects wirelessly to my LAN. laptop is a GUI and connected via CAT5. Both operate Centos6.4. My old router was a D-Link, and used their "Virtual Server" feature to pass port 80 to desktop. My new router is a Linksys, and I use their "Port Forwarding" feature to pass port 80 to desktop (however, I haven't gotten this part working yet). What is going on??? Why the different IPs? Obviously, it most somehow be stored on the server, but why does the actual machine even know the public IP since it is on a LAN? How do I purge the old IP? • accessing $_SESSION when using file_get_contents in PHP

  I am basic - intermediate developer using php and am a little stumped as to what I have found. I need some help in understanding how to alleviate this issue: I have a page called send.email.php which sends an email - pretty simple stuff - I pass an order id, it creates job request and sends it out. This works fine when used in the context I developed it (Use javascript to make an AJAX call to the URL and pass the order_id as a query parameter) I am now trying to reuse the exact same page in another application however I am calling it using php file_get_contents($base_url.'admin/send.email.php?order_id='.$order_id). When I call the page this way, the $_SESSION array is empty isempty() = 1. Is this because I am initiating a new session using file_get_contents and the values I stored in the $_SESSION on login are not available to me within there? Any help? Thanks

  I have created a small search and filter form method post in controller/index, which posts to it self the conditions and fields to paginate ( $this-paginate($conditions) ) However that is good for the first page, the subsequent pages the filer conditions are lost. pagination passArgs supports get variables well. Is there an un complex way to pass the post conditions to the other paginated pages? The method I have looked at is pass the $conditions in session , which isnt without complexity of assigning session and unset the session on submitting the form again (more refinements to the filter criteria by the user ) The other method is passing the $conditions as serialized string url_encode as an get parameter. Is there an good cake way to do this more like passArgs, sessions and url encode do not look like cake style. Thanks

• Flash to PHP base64 encode/decode

  I'm using AS3 to base64 encode a JPG and pass it to Javascript. I'm attempting to use AJAX to pass that base64 encoded string to PHP and have PHP decode it. (I know I could send it back to Flash and Flash could decode it and send it to PHP, but I'm trying to eliminate the need for Flash on the decoding end). It appears that AS3's encodeToBase64String() function and and PHP's base64_decode() function do not use the same algorithm, as PHP evaluates it as a base64 encoded object, but does not seem to output it properly. Is there a way to rectify this problem? Note: Please no posts about not needing Javascript. Javascript is a necessary step for reasons not detailed here.

• What's the convention for extending Linq datacontext with set based helper operations specific to on

  Hi All I might be vaguing out here but I'm looking for a nice place to put set based helper operations in linq so I can do things like; db.Selections.ClearTemporary() which does something like db.DeleteAllOnSubmit(db.Selections.Where(s => s.Temporary)) Since I can figure out how to extend Table<Selection> the best I can do is create a static method in partial class of Selection (similar to Ruby) but I have to pass in the datacontext like; Selection.ClearTemporary(MyDataContext) This kind of sucks because I have two conventions for doing set based operations and I have to pass the data context to the static class. I've seen other people recommending piling helper methods into a partial of the datacontext like; myDataContext.ClearTemporarySelections(); But I feel this makes the dc a dumping ground for in-cohesive operations. Surely I'm missing something. I hope so. What's the convention? TIA
