  • Web P2P video confrence solution

    I'm looking for the best possible solution which will allow me to incorporate live video/audio conference between 2 users(only 2 at this point) into a flash gaming platform. The video chat is not just an extra feature, it's the main one. I'm mainly looking at open source implementations or something I'll be able to implement myself, but will consider commercial products if they are exactly what I need. Here are a few things I've looked at, but so far, I didn't find any of them good enough: Flash player 10's P2P capabilities sound promising, but I am aware of the fact that Adobe has not release any information on the RTMFP protocol and that there is no commercial server which supports it at this point. Stream all the video/audio live through a flash server (not p2p), but from my personal experience you don't get a smooth conversation. I think TokBox uses this method Java applets are a possible solution too (to perform p2p), but I don't think it will be a nice and elegant solution to combine them in the game at this point (and requires the user to authorize them). BTW, I couldn't find any useful implementations. So, If you know of any, i'll look into them. Google Gmail Video Chat uses a custom (and proprietary) browser plug-in which does the p2p and streams the video/audio into the flash player. This is a possible solution, but I rather not implement the entire p2p protocol stack + browser plug-in at this stage and concentrate on other aspect of the game itself. I think they are using XMPP based protocol similar to Jingle and they've release a Jingle librarby but without the video confrencing implementation. EDIT: In response to Branden: I am aware of Adobe Stratus. Stratus is a beta, hosted rendezvous service that aids establishing communications between Flash Player endpoints (RTMFP server). This current release of the Stratus is prerelease and is designed for evaluation purposes only. The service is not final. There is no guarantee that the service will continue to exist in the future or any information about the future cost. That's why I don't think it can be used as a commercial solution.     On https://www2.eiffel.com/download/download_info.aspx?id=eiffelstudio&info=false&mirrors=eiffelstudio you can download the IDE "eiffelstudio". They have GPL as their license but they also specify that "The GPL version is for the purpose of developing open-source software only! If you want to evaluate EiffelStudio for commercial software development, please download our Enterprise Evaluation Edition." However as far as i know this is directly against the gpl. Can they really specify such restrictions while adhering to the GPL?

  • ASP.net 4.0 default.aspx problem on IIS6

    I installed .net framework 4 on my windows 2003 enterprise x64, wrote simple asp.net 4.0 application (default.aspx page only). The application works great if request is to default.aspx, not to the root site: contoso.com/ - doesn't work (Get 404 error) contoso.com/default.aspx - works. Default.aspx is in list of default documents in IIS. Please help.

    According to the Spring documentation, By default, the dm Server trace file is called $SERVER_HOME/serviceability/logs/dm-server/log_i.log ... The index i varies from 1 to 4, on a rolling basis, as each log file exceeds 10Mb. I'm aware that the default trace file name can be changed in server.config. Is it possible to change the number of log files that are kept before rolling over and/or the maximum log file size? How?

    Is anyone aware of an eclipse plugin that updates the tooltip on hover over a method/class to include annotation information? There a few libraries we are using that have annotated methods and it would be handy if I could hover over the method and see what has been applied. I realize this would only work with annotations that have been retained but that is good enough.

  • phusion passenger on ubuntu 10.04: why apache2-prefork-dev when we want apache2-mpm-worker?

    i want to install phusion passenger together with ruby enterprise edition on x86_64 SMP ubuntu 10.04. the recommended option seems to be apache2-mpm-worker but when i run passenger-install-apache2-module the installation routine of phusion passenger complains To install Apache 2 development headers: Please run apt-get install apache2-prefork-dev as root. why do we need prefork-dev here, if we clearly want to run passenger with mpm-worker apache2? any suggestions? is there a worker-dev package?

    Hi. I'm building a location aware mobile application which uses GPS, but i'd like to be able to add cell location too. The best thing I have found so far is to use Google Gears, which has a location API available, but my application is not web based. Are there any good public cell id databases that can be accessed from any kind of application? I have found a few interesting projects out there like OpenCellID, but the database is very poor right now.

All the questions I found were regarding a list of objects (IN (1,2,3)) but I want to generate a query with the following syntax: "select * from table1 where field1 not in(select subfield from subtable)" Be aware that this is Linq to Entities and not Linq to Sql...   • Member variable pointers to COM objects

    Hi Folks, Is there any problem with keeping member variable pointer refernces to COM objects and reussing the reference through out the class in C++. Is anybody aware of a reason why you would want to call .CreateInstance every time you wanted a to use the COM object i.e. you were getting a fresh instance each time. I cannot see any reason who you would want to do this, Thanks, (No is an acceptable answer!!!)
