  • Oracle thin driver vs. OCI driver. Pros and Cons?

    Hi, When you develop a Java application that talks to oracle DBs, there are 2 options right? One is oracle thin driver, and the other is OCI driver that requires its own installation (please correct if I'm misunderstanding). Now, what are the pros and cons? Obviously thin driver sounds much better in terms of installation, but is there anything that OCI can and the thin one can't? Develop environment is Tomcat6 + Spring 3.0 + JPA(Hibernate) + appache-DBCP Thanks in advance.

  • The iPhone “phone” doesn’t have the provisioning profile with which the application was signed.

    i have tried everything to fix this provision problem and nothing is working. ive reformated my mac, reinstalled the iphone, ive also dragged the provisions (developer and distribution) onto the organizer, itunes, and xcode. in itunes people say to drag the provisions to the iphone icon but that doesnt work its only able to go under library it shows a blue rectangle for me to drop it there. i just have a newly created dummy app with a 57x57 icon. ive also setup the project with the distribution thing with its distribution provision. when i build i get this: The iPhone “myphone” doesn’t have the provisioning profile with which the application was signed. Click “Install and Run” to install the provisioning profile “distribution” on “myphone” and continue running “helloworld.app”. and it has a button "install and run" ive clicked on that hundreths of times and nothing. in orgranizer i see a tab called console ive cleared it and rebuild the app and there is some output that i dont understand. I'm thinking its my problem whats it mean?     For testing I hosted my website on free server from 000webhost.com They have a directory structure:- (root folder) \ (public folder) \public_html this directory structure enables to keep all the library files in root folder and all public data in \public_html, so I developed my website accordingly, and my final structure looked like:- / /include(this folder contains library files) /logs(log files) /public_html /public_html/index.php /public_html/home.php /public_html/and other public files on 000webhost makes only public_folder available to be accessed via url and my url looked neat and clean like www.xample.com/index.php or www.example.com/home.php but after completion of development I moved website to shared host purchased from go-daddy.com, now they do not have any such kind of directory permission, all the files are kept in root folder and are accessible via url also url has become like:- www.example.com/public_html/home.php or www.example.com/public_html/index.php How should I redirect url request to public_html folder again so as to make library file unavailable to public access and make url neat and clean.

  • Navigation keys on numeric keypad randomly stop working

    Shortly after a restart, the arrow and navigation (Home, End...) keys on my numeric keypad will randomly stop working, and -- regardless of the state of the NumLock -- return only numbers. I notice this the most in browser applications (like this edit box) but the same effect is true on the command line and in desktop applications like Word. I swapped keyboards and now use a Microsoft keyboard (both are USB keyboards) but the same behavior persists. I also tried a clean boot to clean out startup programs but this made no difference. The separate arrow keys and navigation keys between the QWERTY keys and the numeric keypad work fine, but my strong preference (dating back to DOS and MS Flight Simulator) is to use the navigation keys in the numeric keypad.

I would expect either an error message saying tomcat is not configured as a proxy server or I should get the contents of google website. Instead I get the index.html page of my tomcat installation.     I'm using Eclipse's create InstallOptions menu to create a custom INI page with radio-buttons for repackaging the Blackberry Desktop installer. There are 2 sections for each type: "Internet" and "Enterprise". I need a user to select 1 of the 2 options and depending on their selection, the page will carry over the selection chosen in the custom page, jump to the INSTFILES page, and continue onto the end. I couldn't find any concrete documentation on getting INI pages to load in the script (I'm probably searching incorrectly), and then pass data from one page to the next (according to fields I guess?) Say I deployed my C# application at PC1 today. After a specific date the application is deleted and removed off PC1 automatically (Installation folder removed). How can I do that?.     I downloaded the files for Mercurial 1.5.2 from http://packages.debian.org/sid/mercurial (mercurial_1.5.2-1.debian.tar.gz, mercurial_1.5.2-1.dsc and mercurial_1.5.2.orig.tar.gz). How do I get a .deb package out of these? I tried to follow the instructions at http://www.debian.org/doc/maint-guide/ch-build.en.html but they don't work.   • Restoring using SyncBack without profiles

    I backed up my internal hard drive (C:) using SyncBack onto an external (USB) hard drive with maximum compression. I then performed a clean install of Windows Vista onto the computer. I forgot to copy the SyncBack logs before the clean install. And now when ever I try to restore a directory, the RAR/ZIP files are copied to the system hard drive instead of extracting their contents to the hard drive. Also, SyncBack is not traversing the folders during the Restore process. How can I tell SyncBack to expand the compressed files? I am running the freeware version of SyncBack. I have to create new log files (unless SyncBack put them somewhere on the external drive). My alternative is to write a program that traverses the folders on the external drive and extracts files from the RAR/ZIP files. I am using Windows Vista, Service Pack 2, and the data size prior to backup was about 200 GB. (The backup process took over 72 hours due to "hiccups").

    Using mod_rewrite I can construct a rule to respond with a clean error code (e.g. 404 not found, 410 gone, or 403 unauthorised) when a page is requested that I don't want to serve. But frequently I get completely erroneous requests from hackers scanning my website for vulnerabilities or possibly cross-site scripting attempts. For these customers I do not want to return a clean error - I'd rather do something else like immediately drop the connection with no response or, alternatively, hold the connection open for a lengthy period of time to frustrate the automated process. Any ideas how to accomplish this with Apache? I've read that nginx has the ability to immediately terminate a connection when a particular pattern is matched.

  • Is my Cisco switch port bad?

    I've been chasing a packet-loss and network stability issue for a handful of end-users on an internal network for the past few days... These issues surfaced last week, however the location was struck by lightning six weeks ago. I was seeing 5-10% packet loss between a stack of four Cisco 2960's and several PC's and phones on the other side of a 77-meter run. The PC's were run inline with the phones over a trunked link (switchport configuration pastebin). We were seeing dropped calls and interruptions in client-server applications and Microsoft Exchange connectivity. I tried the usual troubleshooting steps remotely, having a local technician do the following during breaks in user and production activity: change cables between the wall jack and device. change patch cables between the patch panel and switch port(s). try different switch ports within the 2960 stack. change end-user devices with known-good equipment (new phones, different PC's). clear switch port interface counters and monitor incrementing errors closely. The only logical conclusion is that a few Cisco 2960 switch ports are bad or flaky... Not dead, but not consistent in behavior either. I'm not used to seeing individual ports die in this manner. What else can I test or check to determine if these devices are bad? Is it common for single ports to have problems, rather than a contiguous bank of ports?     Problem I recently migrated a Drupal site from a shared hosting server to my own VM. Everything appears to work correctly, except clean urls. My VM Setup Ubuntu 10.04 LAMP ISPConfig 3 What I've tried From reading up on a number of drupal forums I've tried the following in this order Check that mod_rewrite is installed and enabled Changed PHP from FastCGI to Mod_PHP (prefer to use FastCGI or suPHP though to avoid having tmp/files folders with 777 permissions) Changed the Redirect type to L in ISPConfig Sites-domain.com-Redirect Changed /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default <Directory /var/www/> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride All ... </Directory> Not sure about points 3 and 4, I do want all domains to be able to use mod_rewrite out of the box. Question Have I done something wrong or am I missing a step? Ultimately I would like to use FastCGI and clean urls working on all ISPConfig 3 domains without having to make any changes to individual domain settings. Any ideas appreciated, I'll try them all.

  • How to Disable secondary drive from booting upon restart - Windows

    I had a Windows 2003 Hard Drive on my server and it went bad so I installed a new clean hard drive and installed Windows 2008 R2 on the new clean drive. I moved the old 2003 drive to be used only for general storage on the same computer. It usually boots into Windows 2008 upon a restart, but just sometimes it starts trying to boot the old 2003 drive and causes boot issues(NTDLR Bootloader, and other errors), even though the order of boot preference is set to boot 2008, and NOT 2003. I need to know how to remove any old code that keeps this old drive as a bootable drive. I still want to use it as a secondary drive just dont want to have any boot code on it. hopefully my situation is clear for everyone to get a good response. Thank you...

  • ATI Radeon HD 5770 Cooling

    I have a Radeon HD 5770 manufactured by ATI. In the course of using compressed air to clean it the fan shattered. I put a case fan on the card to cool it, but it's not doing a great job; the temperature goes to nearly 100 sometimes. The card is not overclocked or anything, the PC itself is clean. I looked around for a third party cooling system but the only one I found was the Accelero L2 Pro. It's low on stock and I don't know how great it will be, some review say it may not fit on all 5770 cards. Does anyone know of another one that will work? Help is much appreciated.
