• OpenIndiana (illumos): vmxnet3 interface lost on reboot

  I want my VMware vmxnet3 interface to be brought up with DHCP on boot. • All Xen domU LVM volumes corrupt after reboot

  I'm running a Debian Squeeze dom0, and after rebooting it all 7 of my domUs have data corruption. Each is setup as ext3 partition directly on a separate lvm2 volume. None of the lvm volumes will mount; all have bad superblocks. I've tried e2fsck with each superblock to no avail. What else can I try? Each domU has two LVM volumes connected to it, one for the disk and one for swap. The disk is mounted at root, formatted as a normal ext3 partition as a xen-blk device. The volumes are never mounted outside of the guest OS. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 using the instructions here. I'm not sure that they didn't shutdown properly, all I know is they were corrupt after I issues a clean 'reboot' on the dom0.   During playing with Entity Framework I got the error: “Error while trying to run project: Unable to start program ‘'…’. The endpoint was not reachable.   By running the project in Visual Studio. Outside VS were no problems. A similar project runs fine. So I compared both project files. Indeed the first project file contains the line: <Prefer32bit>false</Prefer32bit> in some property groups. After deleting this line everything runs fine.

  This error occurred on our TFS2008 build server which we had upgraded to cater for VS2010 projects (by installing VS2010 on the build server - see this article). Error MSB4019: The imported project "C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" was not found. Confirm that the path in the <Import> declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk. However - although we had installed VS2010 on the build server - we had not installed the web development components (Visual Web Developer) - this is what caused the error. To fix - simply add the web development components: Go into Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs Select Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, and click on Change/Remove In the VS Maintenance Mode screens, select Add or Remove Features In the Setup - Options page make sure 'Visual Web Developer' is checked. Click on Update.   You shouldn't need to restart your build service. HTH Tim

  Have you ever heard: "My Oracle WebCenter Content instance is running slow. I checked the memory and CPU usage of the application server and it has plenty of resources. What could be going wrong?An Oracle WebCenter Content instance runs on an application server and relies on a database server on the back end. If your application server tier is running fine, chances are that your database server tier may host the root of the problem. While many things could cause performance problems, on active Enterprise Content Management systems, keeping database statistics updated is extremely important.The Oracle Database have a set of built-in optimizer utilities that can help make database queries more efficient. It is strongly recommended to update or re-create the statistics about the physical characteristics of a table and the associated indexes in order to maximize the efficiency of optimizers. These physical characteristics include: Number of records Number of pages Average record length The frequency with which you need to update statistics depends on how quickly the data is changing. Typically, statistics should be updated when the number of new items since the last update is greater than ten percent of the number of items when the statistics were last updated. If a large amount of documents are being added or removed from the system, the a post step should be added to gather statistics upon completion of this massive data change. In some cases, you may need to collect statistics in the middle of the data processing to expedite its execution.   Are you trying to build a SQL Server database project and getting   The imported project "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\SSDT\Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.SqlTasks.targets" was not found.   Require urgent help!:( i m developing a game and i m dealing with around 20 images at the same time. As per my knowledge, i m allocating and deallocating the images at right places. Game runs for around 15 min fine but quits with an error message: "Program received signal: “0”. warning: check_safe_call: could not restore current frame" i also tried debugging with memory leak tools provided in Xcode but could not find any issue with memory management or any increase in memory size on simulator it works fine but not on the device. i m confused wht can be the issue. We have two servers and a firewall computer. On the Server#1 there is an Apache 2.2 web server and it forwards the incoming traffic to the appropriate ports, to our subdomains by its virtual host configuration (Apache, Tomcat, IIS, Server#2 and so on). We recently bought an SSL certificate to protect one of our subdomain. I successfully installed and configured the certificate into the Apache and it works flawlessly within our local network. Our Kerio Winroute Firewall is configured to permit https traffic and it is translated to Server#1. But all of our subdomains are unavailable from outside (http & https too). • Why is my masm32 program crashing whenever I try using interrupts?

This is the interrupt I'm trying to use. It should simply exit the program. Others I've tried include character input/output, etc.. Nothing works. I'm on windows 7, using masm32 with the WinAsm IDE. There are so many cool things it seems I should be able to do with interrupts... however, it crashes whenever I try to use an interrupt - always the same way. When i now type my hostname 'http://myhost' i get the iistart.htm page instead i would like to be able to get 'http://myhost/Cognos8'. tried http redirect to redirect myhost to myhost/cognos8 which ends in a loop. i tried to set the physical path of default web site to the physical path of my Cognos8 application but also this does not seem to work. i know this should not to hard. • Is there a way to make sure a background process spawned by my program is killed when my process ter

  Basically the child process runs indefinitely until killed in the background, and I want to clean it up when my program terminates for any reason, i.e. via the Taskmanager. Currently I have a while (Process.GetProcessesByName("ParentProcess").Count() 0) loop and exit if the parent process isn't running, but it seems pretty brittle, and if I wanted it to work under debugger in Visual Studio I'd have to add "ParentProcess.vshost" or something. Is there any way to make sure that the child process end without requiring the child process to know about the parent process? I'd prefer a solution in managed code, but if there isn't one I can PInvoke. Edit: Passing the PID seems like a more robust solution, but for curiosity's sake, what if the child process was not my code but some exe that I have no control over? Is there a way to safeguard against possibly creating orphaned child processes?

  Hi, I used sprintf method to format data to a string which I want to write to a file, in C++ console application using VS 2008. The Input is a particular message, which has various variables and values (ex: Type 'int' and Value '10' / Type string and value "abc", etc.) When I send a two messages it works perfectly. But When I send more than two messages it gives a runtime error saying 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xabababab. Why is this happening? Is it because the method 'sprintf' has a default buffer length? How can I overcome this problem?

• A method to change effective user id of a running program?

  I'm writing a simple package manager and I'd like to automatically try sudo if the program isn't run as root. I found a function called seteuid, which looks likes it's exactly what I need, but I don't have the permissions to run it. So far all I can think of is a bash script to check before they get to the actual binary, but I'd like to do this all as C++ if possible. Is there any method of changing a processes's euid after it starts executing? Or a way to call sudo?

  I need to put some extra information into to the standard "javadoc" hover, that shows up when you go with mouse over some token. Or I need to create a new hover showing that information while pressing some key (like alt) and then hovering (I can see that this is done e.g. with the shift key, which enables us to see the hover with sourcecode, instead of javadoc). So far I found documentation on how to create hover in your own editors, but I need to extend the default java editor. Basically I am interested in showing some e-mail information related to the classname (token) over which user is hovering. Is there any extension point that could be used for this?   Some of you sure know the jQuery-Plugin Imageflow on hxxp://finnrudolph.de/ImageFlow/ (sorry for that, I definitely need to gain reputation, working on it ;)) The default behaviour is that the images within the image-container (which has 100% width in this case) will be resized according to the image-container. There's an option to declare the distance between every image and it would be much better, if this value would be encreased and decreased with the window-resize-event. Everything seems to happen in a function called "moveTo" which is unfortunately also responsible for the resizing when moving to another image.   I am writing a piece of code in Java that needs to take a time sent from a bash script and parse the time to milliseconds. When I check the millisecond conversion on the date everything is correct except for the month I have sent which is January instead of March.   I'm trying to run SQuirreL SQL. I've downloaded it and installed it, but when I try to run it I get this error message: Java Virtual Machine Launcher. Could not find the main class. Program will exit. I get the gist of this, but I have not idea how to fix it. Any help? more info: I'm on Windows XP pro. I have java 1.6 installed, and other apps are running OK. The install ran OK. I believe I've followed the installation instructions correctly. To run it, I'm invoking the squirrel-sql.bat file. • How can I find the program making a harmonica sound?

  A friend has a Windows XP SP3 machine that plays a harmonica sound for about 5 seconds throughout the day at what seems to be random intervals (every couple hours). My question is how can I find the program making this sound? Is there a Windows API hook for monitoring audio access? I've gone through and checked all the standard Windows sounds in the Control Panel and right now the theme is set to no sounds and I personally checked to make sure none of the events have a sound specified. I also checked the Task Scheduler to make sure there wasn't something scheduled to go off every couple hours. Any ideas on how to go about finding the bugger?
