• Graph API - Get events by owner/creator

  Is there a way with the Facebook Graph API to get a list of all events created by a single profile? Our client creates a bunch of events and we want to pull a list of them all. I said that they would just have to make sure they set themselves to be attending the event, because then I can easily pull the list of events that profileId is attending, but I'm curious if there's another way. Maybe an FQL query? They look to require a query on the primary key though. And what would that FQL query look like if that's the way to do it??

  In another question, a user pointed out that the new keyword was dangerous to use and proposed a solution to object creation that did not use new... I didn't believe that was true, mostly because I've used Prototype, Scriptaculous and other excellent JavaScript libraries, and everyone of them used the new keyword... In spite of that, yesterday I was watching Douglas Crockford's talk at YUI theater and he said the exactly same thing, that he didn't use the new keyword anymore in his code. Is it 'bad' to use the new keyword? what are the advantages and disadvantages of using it?

• HTML/JavaScript: mouseover effect for image maps?

  I'm trying to help out a nonprofit by doing their website. They want (ugh) their logo to serve as an HTML image map. In other words, when you click on different parts of the logo, you're directed to different web pages. They also, however, want mouseover effects: when you mouseover a particular portion of the image map, that piece of the graphic should be highlighted. If the logo was simple, I would slice it up into rectangles and attach mouseover and click events to the appropriate rectangles. With the complexity of their logo, this is not possible, however. Has anyone done anything like this without Flash? I'm not a Flash developer but this is looking like a very difficult task in just HTML/JavaScript. Any ideas? Thanks!

  How can I find out which FORM an HTML element is contained within, using a simple/small bit of JavaScript? In the example below, if I have already got hold of the SPAN called 'message', how can I easily get to the FORM element? <form name="whatever"> <div> <span id="message"></span> </div> </form> The SPAN might be nested within other tables or DIVs, but it seems too long-winded to iterate around .parentElement and work my way up the tree. Is there a simpler and shorter way? If it wasn't a SPAN, but an INPUT element, would that be easier? Do they have a property which points back to the containing FORM? Google says no...

• Best practice to pass a value from pop over control on iPad.

  It is an iPad app based on SDK 3.2. I have a MainUIView, that is subclass from UIView, it have a UIButton and a UILabel. When user press the UIButton, the pop over control will be appeared with a table view. When the user select a cell from the table view, the UILabel changes content base on the user click, and the pop up table view will disappear. The question is, how can I pass the "selected cell" to the UILabel. I am thinking making a "middle man" object. When the user click the UIButton, and the "middle man" will pass to the table. When the cell is selected, the "middle man" will store the idx, and call the UILabel change content from the value of "middle man". But I think it is pretty complex to implement, is there any easier way to implement it? thz u.

I have the following array of numbers: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 I would like to be able to have these numbers shuffled randomly. Like the following: 3 6 4 2 9 5 1 8 7 or 4 1 7 3 5 9 2 6 8 So, specifically, I would like a function that takes in an array of numbers (1 - n) and then returns that same array of numbers - shuffled randomly with different calls to the function.   TLDR Using plain HTML / Javascript. Want to block access to some pages (doesn't have to be super secure just to stop some peeking eyes). I thought of simply doing this by setting a cookie for each page they are allowed to visit with a value of true but thats a bit messy. Although it would work. Is there a way to set an array of values to a cookie so I can read the cookie and if a name of a page is in there then allow access with an IF statement or so on each of my pages. If they dont have the cookie just to replace my #content (entirepage) to "sorry no" etc. For example: $.cookie("Access","page1, page2, page3",{ expires: 1 }); Am already using JQuery, Jquery cookie. etc. I am up for anyway of doing this cookie idea is just an example So what do you think would be the best / most efficient way of managing this?

• Minifying Javascript on Visual Studio 2010 on release mode

  I have a ASP.NET MVC 2 project on Visual Studio 2010. I want to be able to use my plain javascript files in debug mode so I can understand what's going on when debugging, but I want to used a minified/compressed version when using release mode. I was planning to create some extenders to include the js files in each page, something like: <%: Html.IncludeJS("/Content/foo.js") % In that extender method I would determine whether I am on debug or release mode and pick the appropiate JS file. The disadvantage here is that I would end up manually compressing/minifying the JS every time I change something. Is there an automated way to compress/minify and include the JS file when compiling in release mode?

  I have a function in javascript called "dumpData" which I call from a button on an html page as **onlick="dumpData(dbControl);"* What it does is return an xml file of the settings (to an alert box right now). I want to return it to the user as a file download. Is there a way to create a button when click will open a file download box and ask the user to save or open it? (sorta of like right-clicking and save target as)... Or can it be sent to a php file and use export();? Not sure how I would send a long string like that to php and have it simple send it back as a file download. Dennis

  Is there a 3rd party add-on/application or some way to perform object map dumping in script debugger for a JavaScript object? Here is the situation... I have a method being called twice, and during each time something is different. I'm not sure what is different, but something is. So, if I could dump all the properties of window (or at least window.document) into a text editor, I could compare the state between the two calls with a simple file diff. Thoughts?   Hi, <a href="#"><img src="http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif" onClick="alert('hi')"/></a> In the above code, i am appending a javascript onclick method to the image tag. When I click the image once and I press back, it should go back to the page it came from. Instead its staying on the same page. Is there any way I can avoid that? (probably set something else instead of href="#"). The reason I set href="#" is to make my cursor turn into hand, other than that it has no use. There is the possibility that I will currently be at a url such as: http://[environment].my-happy-work.com/my-happy-path/my-happy-resource I want to be able to grab the window.location but strip it of everything but: http://[environment].my-happy-work.com And then append to that string + "/" + "my-happy-video". I am not skilled with regex, but I suppose there would be a way to parse the window.location up to the ".com" Thoughts? Thanks!

  In my JavaScript, I'm using an object as an associative array. It always has the property "main", and may have others. So, when I create it I might do this: var myobject = new Object (); myobject["main"] = somevalue; Other properties may be added later. Now, at some moment I need to know whether myobject has just the one property, or several, and take different actions depending (I'm only referring to properties I've created). So far all I've found to do is something like: flag = false; for (i in myobject) { if (i=="main") continue; flag = true; break; } and then branch on flag. Or: for (i in myobject) { if (i=="main") continue; do_some_actions (); break; } These approaches work but feel to me like I've overlooked something. Is there a better approach?

• Signature invalid only for ad hoc

  I'm not sure what changed on my ad hocs but I get this error when trying to install: Application failed codesign verification. The signature was invalid, or it was not signed with an Apple submission certificate. (-19011) Device debug builds fine. The cert that is associated with my ad hoc provisioning profile doesn't expire until 2011. I've searched Google but haven't found any applicable solution, except some mention about deleting and recreating the certs. Before I go down that rode, has any one experienced and resolved this issue? I'm using Xcode 3.2.3 and building against sdk 3.0.
