• iPhone TabBar selection cancelling

  I am developing an iPhone app that displays several views, all acessed via Tab Bar items. However I need to add an additional item to the Tab Bar that simply launches a URL in Safari. I've accomplished this by adding an empty placeholder view to the TabBar and returning FALSE from shouldSelectViewController when the this view's tabBarItem is clicked on, and launching Safari at the same time. That code is: - (BOOL)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController shouldSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { if([[viewController tabBarItem] title] == "Website"){ //... launch Safari return FALSE; } else { return TRUE; } } PROBLEM: If the TabBar has too many items, and this "Safari Launch" tab is pushed off to the "More" navigation controller, I lose the capability to intercept the event and prevent the view from loading when clicked. • Watching a variable for changes without polling.

  I'm using a framework called Processing which is basically a Java applet. It has the ability to do key events because Applet can. You can also roll your own callbacks of sorts into the parent. I'm not doing that right now and maybe that's the solution. For now, I'm looking for a more POJO solution. So I wrote some examples to illustrate my question. Please ignore using key events on the command line (console). Certainly this would be a very clean solution but it's not possible on the command line and my actual app isn't a command line app. In fact, a key event would be a good solution for me but I'm trying to understand events and polling beyond just keyboard specific problems. Both these examples flip a boolean. When the boolean flips, I want to fire something once. I could wrap the boolean in an Object so if the Object changes, I could fire an event too. I'd be ok if the if() was a NOOP on the CPU. But it's really comparing every pass. I see real CPU load. This is as bad as polling. I can maybe throttle it back with a sleep or compare the elapsed time since last update but this is not event driven. It's just less polling. So how can I do this smarter? How can I watch a POJO for changes without polling? In C# there seems to be something interesting called properties. • Object drag delay issue

  I have this code that drags stuff around perfectly in IE - however in firefox the onmousedown-drag of the object does not immediately drag but shows the no-entry cursor and then after onmouseup the object drags around freely. The object does stop draging on the next onmouseup. The object should only drag in the onmousdown state, while the onmousup call should cancel the drag by making j_OK=0.   hi, After being through numerous forums available on the net for last 5 days, I am still not able to completely track down the browser close event. My requirement is to generate a popup message, when user tries to close the browser. I have called my javascript function on body 'onbeforeunload' event. And I have hardcoded the conditions to check the mouse-coordinates for the red 'X' buton of browser, refresh, File-close or Alt-F4. My code works fine when browser window is Maximized, but fails if we shrink it after a limit. Please help me, if some body has already found the solution to a similar problem. Thank you.   Much like every other Public Sector organization, school districts in the US and Canada are under tremendous pressure to deliver consistent and modern services while operating with reduced budgets, IT personnel shortages, and staff attrition.  Electronic/remote learning and the need for immediate access to resources such as grades, calendars, curricula etc. are straining IT environments that were already burdened with meeting privacy requirements imposed by both regulators and parents/students.  One area viewed as a solution to at least some of the challenges is the use of "Cloud" in education.  Although the concept of "Cloud" is nothing new in education with many providers supplying educational material over the web, school districts defer previously-in-house-hosted services to established commercial vendors to accommodate document sharing, app hosting, and even e-mail.  Doing so, however, does not reduce an important risk, that of privacy.  As always, Cloud implementations are viewed in a skeptical manner because of the perceived reduction in sensitive data management and protection thereof, although with a careful approach and the right tooling, the benefits realized by Clouds can expand to security and privacy.   Oracle's comprehensive approach to data privacy and identity management ensures that the necessary tools are available to support regulations, operational efficiencies and strong security regardless of where the sensitive data is stored - on premise or a Cloud.  Common management tools, role-based access controls, access policy management and engineered systems provided by Oracle can be the foundational pieces on which school districts can build their Cloud implementations without having to worry about security itself.   I am trying to make a class which controls a camera. The getPosition function is simply forwarded to it's scene node. What I want(for now) is for the camera to simply follow the AnimatedBody overhead at the distance given(the height parameter), and look down at it. It follows the object around, but it doesn't look straight down, it's tilted quite a bit in the positive Z direction. Does anybody have any idea why it would do that? If I change this line: position.y += height_; to this: position.x += height_; or this: position.z += height_; it does exactly what I would expect. It follows the object from the side or front, and looks directly at it.

  I have, for all intents and purposes, a Triangle class that objects in my scene can collide with (In actuality, the right side of a parallelogram). My collision detection and resolution code works fine for the purposes of preventing a gameobject from entering into the space of the Triangle, instead directing the movement along the edge. The trouble is, the maximum speed along the x and y axis is not equivalent in my game, and moving along the Y axis (up or down) should take twice as long as an equivalent distance along the X axis (left or right). Unfortunately, these speeds apply to the collision resolution too, and movement along the blue path above progresses twice as fast. What can I do in my collision resolution to make sure that the speedlimit for Y axis movement is obeyed in the latter case? • Refresh page isnt working in asp.net using treeview

  Hi, I am trying to refresh an asp.net page using this command: <meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="10"/> On that page I have 2 treeviews. The refresh works ok when I just open the page, but when I click on one of the treeviews and expand it, the refresh stopps working and the page isnt being refreshed. Any ideas why this can happen? Is there any connection to the treeview being expanded? Any help would be appreciated.
