  • Faster jquery selector for finding a number of TD elements

    I have a table where each row has 13 TD elements. I want to show and hide the first 10 of them when I toggle a link. These 10 TD elements all have an IDs with the prefix "foo" and a two digit number for its position (e.g., "foo01"). What's the fastest way to select them across the entire table? $("td:nth-child(-n+10)") or $("td[id^=foo]") or is it worth concatenating all of the ids? $("#foo01, #foo02, #foo03, #foo04, #foo05, #foo06, #foo07, #foo08, #foo09, #foo10") Is there another approach I should be considering as well?

  • Unable to reserve a job with beanstalkd

    I have tried on two different servers to get beanstalkd up and running and do a couple tests (locally on MacOSX compiled from source, and on a CentOS server installed with yum) I can get the server running either with sudo beanstalkd -d -p 11300 or sudo beanstalkd -p 11300 & I then tried using the php lib and it just froze. Connecting directly: telnet localhost 11300 I do the following to mimic the PHP test script: use foo USING foo put 0 0 120 5 hello INSERTED 1 reserve-with-timeout 0 TIMED_OUT If I just run reserve It's stuck indefinitely. Any ideas?

BufRead,BufNewFile *.f90 setfiletype fortran set foldmethod=syntax let fortran_fold=1 The annoying thing is the following. If I cut (dd) and paste (P) a folded subroutine outside the module/end module block, the freshly pasted fold stay closed. If I paste it inside the module/end module block, the newly pasted folded region appears instead unfolded. Can you reproduce the issue (vim 7.2 here) and do you know any workaround/fix ?

    Hi! I'm playing around with Java's Reflection. I have an abstract class Base with a constructor. abstract class Base { public Base( String foo ) { // do some magic } } I have some further classes extending Base. They don't contain much logic. I want to instantiate them with Base's constructor, without having to write some proxy contructors in those derived classes. And of course, I want to instantiate those derived classes with Reflection. Say: Class cls = SomeDerivedClass.class; Constructor constr; constr = cls.getConstructor( new Class[] { String.class } ); // will return null Class clsBase = Base.class; constr = clsBase.getConstructor( new Class[] { String.class } ); // ok Base obj = (Base) constr.newInstance( new Object[] { "foo" } ); // will throw InstantiationException because it belongs to an abstract class Any ideas, how I can instantiate a derived class with Base's constructor? Or must I declare those dumb proxy constructors?

    For this example Java class: package foo; public class TestInterop { public String test(int i) { return "Test(int)"; } public String test(Object i) { return "Test(Object)"; } } When I start Clojure and try to call the test(int) method, the test(Object) method is called instead, because Clojure automatically boxes the integer into a java.lang.Integer object. How do I force Clojure to call the test(int) method? user=> (.test (new foo.TestInterop) 10) "Test(Object)" I want to call methods like Component.add(Component comp, int index) in AWT, but instead keep calling add(Component comp, Object constraints), so the buttons on my toolbar always appear in the wrong order.

    I'd like to write some code that runs a sequence of F# scripts (.fsx). Anyway, I'd like to run scripts by batch of n, which seems also a good exercise for learning Async (I guess it's the way to go).     Hi All, I am working on some Plesk integration using the XML API and I am trying to figure out how to parse the XML response that I get back. Most of the data is fine, but the Limits and Permissions are setout differently. Essentially they are set out like so: <data> <limits> <limit> <name>foo</name> <value>bar</value> </limit> <limit> <name>foo2</name> <value>bar2</value> </limit> </limits> </data> How do I extract 'bar' from the xml given that I know I want the value of 'foo', but not the value of 'foo2'?

In other words, unless I'm missing something, the above could have been nice and valid syntactic sugar for: void foo(Iterator<X> it) { for (X x; it.hasNext();) { x = it.next(); bar(x); baz(x); } }

    How do I accumulate values in t-SQL? AFAIK there is no ARRAY type. I want to reuse the values like demonstrated in this PostgreSQL example using array_agg().     Hi Folks, i have got a php-script foo.php #!/usr/bin/php -c /etc/php5/cli/php.ini -q <?php echo 'hello'; // & do some stuff ?> I call this script not wrapped by a sh-script but using it directly in a cron job. To get rid of it's output i normally would just create a sh-file which calls /usr/bin/php -c /etc/php5/cli/php.ini -q foo.php > /dev/null 2 > /dev/null now i'd like to do this in the interpreter-declaration of the php file it self... so i am looking for the syntax for: #!/usr/bin/php -args [file's content] > /redirect 2 > /redirect i have kind of a hard time googleing for it... so if anybody could point me into the right direction i would really appreciate it! More precisely, is there a way to accomplish <script type="text/javascript"> document.write("foo"); </script> ... without the use of document.write? I am not happy about using document.write after reading this. I am aware that I could alternatively do this: <span id="container"></span> <script type="text/javascript"> $("#container").text("foo"); </script> However, I'm interested to see if there's a way to do it without using a container element, preferably using jQuery.     From my readings, when you execute a command as follows: java -jar foo.jar Then the main classpath is ignored and the classpath is taken from the manifest file. Further, the classpath declared on the command line is also ignored. So in: java -classpath /usr/local/jar/foobar.jar -jar foo.jar /usr/local/jar/foobar.jar is ignored. Lastly, I have read that the manifest file can only only contain relative paths, within the jar file. So, how do you include absolute paths to external jars, that are present on the system, but not in the jar file being executed?

The problem is that I wanted to use this answer to aplly the method on other same problems. But, as I'm very bad at regular expressions, I couldn't.   • Rails: Accessing the username/password used for HTTP Basic Auth?

    I'm building a basic API where user information can be retrieved after that user's login and password are correctly sent. Right now I'm using something like this: http://foo:[email protected]/api/user.xml So, what I need to do is access the user/password sent in the request (the foo and bar) but am not sure how to access that info in a Rails controller. Then I'd check those variables via a quick User.find and then set those as the username and password variables for authenticate_or_request_with_http_basic. It's possible I'm looking at this at the completely wrong way, but that's where I'm at right now. :)

I have a few types I'd like to insert into each record: A float, and then 3 groups of n floats, currently a tuple but could be an array or list.. I'm not well-enough versed in Python to understand all the differences. My problem is the INSERT statement. DAS = 12345 lats = (42,43,44,45) lons = (10,11,12,13) times = (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) import sqlite3 connection = sqlite3.connect("test.db") cursor = connection.cursor() cursor.execute( "create table foo(DAS LONG PRIMARY KEY,lats real(4),lons real(4), times real(9) )" ) I'm not sure what comes next. Something along the lines of: cmd = 'INSERT into foo values (?,?,?,?), ..." cursor.execute(cmd) How should I best build the SQL insert command given this data?

    Currently my whole work cycle is: edit foo.scala fsc foo.scala && scala -cp . FooMain But my project is getting bigger and I would like to split files, make unit tests, etc. But I'm too lazy for reading sbt documentation and doing whatever needs to be done to get a sbt's "Makefile". Similarly for unit tests (there are so many frameworks, which to choose?) What would make my day is a simple zipped dummy project with a dummy unit tests using sbt. Do you know whether such thing exists?

    I've got a few questions about best practices in Python. Not too long ago I would do something like this with my code: ... junk_block = "".join(open("foo.txt","rb").read().split()) ... I don't do this anymore because I can see that it makes code harder to read, but would the code run slower if I split the statements up like so: f_obj = open("foo.txt", "rb") f_data = f_obj.read() f_data_list = f_data.split() junk_block = "".join(f_data_list) I also noticed that there's nothing keeping you from doing an 'import' within a function block, is there any reason why I should do that?

  • XSLT: How do I trigger a template when there is no input file?

    I'm creating a template which produces output based on a single string, passed via parameter, and does not use an input XML document. xsltproc seems to happily run with a single parameter specifying the stylesheet, but I don't see a way to trigger a template without an input file (no parameter to xsltproc to run a named template, for example). I'd like to be able to run: xsltproc --stringparam bar baz foo.xsl But I'm currently having to run, with the "main" template matching "/": echo '<xml/>' | xsltproc --stringparam bar baz foo.xsl - How can I get this to work? I'm sure I've seen other templates in the past which were meant to be run without an input document, but I don't remember how they worked or where to find them again. :-)
