  • Googling query from anywhere

    Some times when I am trying out stuff on my terminal, I get some blockade or some error to resolve which I have to copy the error or last message then open my browser and then Google the query. Is it possible for me that I select the message via mouse and when I right click I get a Google it option as I get when I select some text on a browser? PS : I am not asking how to do Google search via terminal or how to browse web via terminal.These were the results I got when I goggled my question. what I want is something more general. Whenever I select a piece of text I should get a "Google me" option with the right click of my mouse(or maybe with pressing of a key or something). I would prefer that the query takes place in a browser and not in a terminal.

Any insight here would be greatly appreciated, not having the GTileLayers in V3 is fine if I can work around it, until then I'm frustrated.

    When I run php-closure i get a PHP error Undefined index: HTTP_IF_NONE_MATCH in <b>/php-closure.php</b> on line <b>183</b> Line 184 of php-closure is trim($_SERVER['HTTP_IF_NONE_MATCH']) == $etag) { This error only happens when closure has already written the compressed javascript file to the directory once, if the directory is emptied the error does not appear.     By "durable" I mean, the server can crash at any time, and as long as the disk remains in tact, no data is lost (see ACID). Seems like that's what journaling mode is for, but if you enable journaling, doesn't that defeat the purpose of operating on in-memory data? Read operations might not be affected by journaling, but it seems like journaling would kill your write performance.

  • How do you Access an Authenticated Google App Engine Service with Ruby?

    I am trying to do this same thing here but with Ruby: Access Authenticated GAE Client with Python. Any ideas how to retrieve authenticated content from GAE with Ruby? I am using the Ruby GData Gem to access everything in Google Docs and such and it's making life very easy, but now I'd like to access things on GAE that require admin access, programmatically, and it doesn't support that.   • How do I resize a Google Map with JavaScript after it has loaded?

    I have a 'mapwrap' div set to 400px x 400px and inside that I have a Google 'map' set to 100% x 100%. So the map loads at 400 x 400px, then with JavaScript I resize the 'mapwrap' to 100% x 100% of the screen - the google map resizes to the whole screen as I expected but tiles start disappearing before the right hand edge of the page. Is there a simple function I can call to cause the Google map to re-adjust to the larger size 'mapwrap' div?

I reckon the field "appId" is meant for this, but this field is empty in the response.

  • Google App Engine - Calling getSession().invalidate(); causes app engine to act weird.

    When I call hreq.getSession().invalidate(); app engine slows down tremendously. I looked at appstats and saw that on a page where no database calls are made, it was calling memcache.get and datastore.get 23 times each. The stack trace of these calls showed that it was being called from getSession(). This only happens on the production server. Every time I make a request to a page, it makes a bunch of memcache and datastore calls. This slow down goes away though when i restart my browser. When I changed the code to simply set the isLoggedIn property of the session to false, rather than calling hreq.getSession().invalidate();, everything was fine. As a test, I didn't invalidate my session, but I changed the value of my browser's session cookie, and the app engine exhibited the same behavior. Is this a bug with the app engine?

    Php-closure compiler (linked to source code) currently writes the compiled code to a md5 encoded filename. How can I make it so it write the compiled code to a predefined name like compiled_code.js? . . I think it has to do with the write() function on Line 164. It gets the filename via the _getCacheFileName() function (Line 272). function _getCacheFileName() { return $this->_cache_dir . $this->_getHash() . ".js"; } I've tried altering it to this: function _getCacheFileName() { //return $this->_cache_dir . $this->_getHash() . ".js"; return 'copiled_code.js'; } without any results.   • Distributed datastore

    We're trying to add some kind of persistence in our app. The app generates about 250 entries per second. Each of these entries belong to one of 2M files. For each file, we want to keep the last 10 entries, so we can look them up later. The way our client application works : it gets a stream of all the data it fetches the right file (GET) it adds the new content it saves the file back (PUT) We're looking for an efficient way to store this data that can scale horizontally as the amount of data we're getting is doubling every few weeks. We initially looked at S3. It works fine, but becomes very expensive very fast ($1000 monthly just in PUT operations!) We then gave a shot at Riak. But it seems we can't get more than 60 write/sec on each node, which is very very slow. Any other solution out there?

    Here are some points: 1) I have some markers on the map and records associated with it on the right panel besides the map. They are connected via numeric id, which is stored as a property of marker. 2) All the markers are stored in an array. 3) When the user zooms in the map, records, associated to only visible markers should be shown on the right panel. So, how to get the list of all visible markers on the current zoom level? I've searched over the internet and didn't find something useful.
