  • Remove Mac OS X and install Windows?

    Is there a way to completely remove Mac OS X from MacBook Pro and replace it with Windows 7? I’m not talking about Boot Camp, I’m talking about completely wiping disk of any files and partitioning it for Windows installation. Any BIOS, booting, compatibility problems? I know it’s rare to replace Mac OS X for Windows, but I have this one situation where this is needed so I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

    Hi GUys, I am having a big trouble positioning my dropdown menu on below URL (Internet Explorer 7 problem only): http://tinyurl.com/y7v2qj9 When hovering the menu, you will see that the drop down appears behind the image. This doesn´t happen in IE8 or Firefox, only in IE7. I think it must be related to a specific bug which i am unaware of, can´t find the solution. Your help is greatly appreciated ! THANKS !!

  • iPhone landscape navigation back action shows vertical view transition?

    I have a regular UINavigationController and I push a series of UIViewController into the stack. The view transition for push controller is horizontal animation transition: [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; However, when I press the Back button on the navigation bar, the view transition animation is vertical (vertically dropping down the previous controller/view). I don't seem to find any way to make this horizontal. This happens only in Landscape mode. Portrait mode the transition all happens as horizontal flip transition. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks

    Hello I'm developing an app for iPad and I try to handle multiple orientation. My app contains a webview and a loading UIImageView that appears when my webview is loading content. This UIImageView has a background image that I set in InterfaceBuilder. When I change orientation to landscape, the image is cut. I'd like the UIImageView to set image-portrait.png when the ipad is in portrait mode and image-landscape.png when it's in landscape mode. Thank you for your help and advices! Screenshots :

  • Python unit-testing with nose: Making sequential tests

    I am just learning how to do unit-testing. I'm on Python / nose / Wing IDE. (The project that I'm writing tests for is a simulations framework, and among other things it lets you run simulations both synchronously and asynchronously, and the results of the simulation should be the same in both.) The thing is, I want some of my tests to use simulation results that were created in other tests. For example, synchronous_test calculates a certain simulation in synchronous mode, but then I want to calculate it in asynchronous mode, and check that the results came out the same. How do I structure this? Do I put them all in one test function, or make a separate asynchronous_test? Do I pass these objects from one test function to another? Also, keep in mind that all these tests will run through a test generator, so I can do the tests for each of the simulation packages included with my program.

  • A tool or framework extension or code snippet for logging the internal state of objects?

    When spiking on how something works or when my unit test behave in an unpredictable manner I usually have to drop into debug mode. 99% of my time in debug mode is spent checking the values of fields on objects to verify its state. I already have log4net set up, it would seem that if I could easily add a line of code to log out the state of objects I could remove most of my need to start up the bulky debugger. The problem is of course that to expose object state implicitly you need to manually override each object's ToString() method. What I would like to be able to do is the ability to do logger.LogState(someObject) and have logged out the object state including at least a formatted list of all the private variables, references (to some arbitrary depth), and collections. Does anyone know a tool/framework/code snippet that can be used to generate a string of the internal state of any object? I could of course write one myself but its a non-trivial problem and I'd prefer something someone has put some thought into.

  • Telerik RadEditor working issue under VS2008

    I've a SharePoint portal for tracking questions in a list. When I open an list item in IE8 Telerik Editor works fine. But if I open this page inside VS2008 in browser mode this control starts to do unexpected actions. It's the Telerik RadEditor for Sharepoint v. 5.3.2.0. Is it a bug of VS2008 or a bug of Telerik RadEditor? Steps to reproduce: Install Telerik RadEditor in SharePoint portal Create a List with Rich editing field and create a new item Paste or type a text into Rich editing field and save changes Open VS2008 Click on any link in start page to open browser window Open created list item in VS in editing mode Mark a part of text in Rich editing field Marked text disappears.     Here's my code: <ComboBox Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="9" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=PriorityEntries}" SelectedItem="{Binding Path=Priority,Mode=TwoWay}"/> The comboBox is bound properly with PriorityEntries, and when i change the value of the comboBox the "set" of the bound property(Priority) is called setting it to what it needs to be. However, when i close the UserControl that this combobox resides, it calls the set property again with a value of null and then sets what the selectedItem was to null. Why is the comboBox being bound again when I close the usercontrol. I tried setting the mode to OneTime, but that won't reflect any changes...

    I have a WPF 4 app with a ComboBox embedded in a DataGrid. The ComboBox is in a template column that displays the combobox when in edit mode but just a TextBlock otherwise. If I edit the cell and pick a new value from the combobox, when leaving the cell, the TextBlock in view mode does not reflect the new value. Ultimately, the new value gets saved and is displayed when the window is refreshed but it does not happen while still editing in the grid. Here are the parts that are making this more complicated. The grid and the combobox are bound to different ItemsSource from the EnityFramework which is tied to my database. For this problem, the grid is displaying project members. The project member name can be picked from the combobox which gives a list of all company employees. Any ideas on how to tie the view mode of the DataGridColumnTemplate to the edit value when they are pointing to different DataSources?   • Modify cmd.exe properties using the command prompt

    Isn't that nicely recursive? I've got a portable command prompt on my external drive, and it has a nice .bat file to configure some initial settings, but I'd like more! Here's what I know how to set from .bat: Colors = (color XY) where x and y are hex digits for the predefined colors Prompt = (prompt $p$g) sets the prompt to "C:\etc\etc " the default prompt Title = (title "text") sets the window title to "text" Screen Size = (mode con: cols=XX lines=YY) sets the columns and lines size of the window Path = (SET PATH=%~d0\bin;%PATH%) sets up local path to my tools and appends the computer's path So that's all great. But there are a few settings I can't seem to set from the bat. Like, how would I set these up wihtout using the Properties dialogue: Buffer = not screen size, but the buffer Options like quick edit mode and autocomplete Popup colors Font.   • weird characters displayed during serial communication OSX

    I have tried communicating via serial (OSX w/ prolific drivers - USB RS232 adapter - Tx,Rx and GND pins on device serial ttl port) to a device and done so successfully using screen /dev/tty.usbserial 115200 8N1 I get to log in and use it as if I was SSH or TelNetted in... However whenever I try to go into system recovery mode (holding CTRL+1) while the device is powering on, it starts displaying weird characters and until I close the screen session it will continue showing weird characters: Of course when we tried doing the same thing on my boss' macbook running windows and PuTTY and everything worked fine, even in system recovery mode; characters were displayed properly. What gives? Id like to learn the intuition to use because up till now I concluded that since I can bot into the system and see characters normally everything about the connection should be fine and its must have been the recovery partition that was broken.     With VS2010's mandate that web.config be included in the project, how do we allow everyone to keep their own custom config file without getting into source control problems? Previously, we would simply leave web.config out of our project, allowing everyone to keep their own local version of web.config on their machine. We moved to VS2010, and it is now forcing me to add web.config to my project in order to run debug mode. Because our project is linked to TFS, it automatically adds web.config to source control and tries to maintain it that way. Is there a way to run in debug mode without including web.config in your project? Or is there a better way to manage config files?

For instance: I want to display one album on my second monitor, and another on my main monitor. How would I set this up?     My instance was running fine and this morning I was able to access a Ruby on Rails app hosted on it. An hour later I suddenly wasn't able to access my site, my SSH connection attempts were refused and the server wasn't even responding to ping. I didn't change anything on my system during that hour and reboots aren't fixing it. I've never had any problems connecting or pinging the system before. Can someone please help?     hi im developing a simple search application( ASP.Net VB.Net) the index table is actually a hash table ll be stored in my file system. the search page ll open this in read mode n copy this to a hash table object n perform search. other update n delete functions will open this in write mode n update it. what should i ve to do to make this app correct that there shud not be any execption when multiple user accessing these things at the same time. wat do i ve to do to make this robust and error free. i want multiple users to access search page without any problem n the index updation also in a parallel manner thanks srinivasan

  • Why do Linux networks use Samba?

    The "file and printer sharing" feature of Linux distros is mostly Samba. Samba is an interpretation of Microsoft's network filesystem. Cross-OS compatibility is important of course but why are Linux systems defaulting to this Microsoft technology? Is Microsoft's network filesystem so good? Samba clearly works very well and I'm not "dissing" it. Or, to rephrase the question, "What would be a Linux-native way to share files and printers across a network?"
