  • PHP Classes: parent/child communication

    - by Fffff
Hi all, I'm having some trouble extending Classes in PHP. Have been Googling for a while. $a = new A(); $a->one(); $a->b1(); // something like this, or... class A { public $test1; public function one() { echo "this is A-one"; $this->two(); $parent->two(); $parent->B->two(); // ...how do i do something like this (prepare it for using in instance $a)? } } class B extends A { public $test2; public function two($test) { echo "this is B-two"; } } I'm ok at procedural PHP.

Hi, Currently I am working on a project integrating google docs to my application using php. However, there is only version1 for the php and I am not well-versed with REST web service. And I am required to create folder using the api. I wonder any people manage/know how to do it? Below is the protocol for the creation of the folder. If anyone know how to do it, I would be glad if you can assist me. Thank you in advance. • Controlling Windows Media Player through PHP / batch files

    - by Duroth
I'm currently writing a tiny webapp for my HTPC (actually, a PC serving as both a media player and web- / fileserver) that will allow me to remotely control the playing of audio, without having to turn on my TV just to switch songs. I'm using Windows Media Player as my audio player of choice, and I thought I could control it through PHP's COM Class. Unfortunately, I've not been able to find any documentation or examples on controlling WMP through this interface. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? A second (and much less preferable) solution would be to use PHP's exec() call to start batch files that, in turn, control WMP.

  • How to determine MIME Type set by htaccess in PHP

    - by Ed Marty
I have a .htaccess file set up to define specific MIME types in directory root/a/b/, and all of the files are in the same directory. I have a php file that wants to serve those files, in directory root/c/, and needs to determine the content-type as defined by the .htaccess file. Is there any way to do this? PHP version is 5.1.6. mime_content_type returns text/plain, and I'd rather not try to parse the .htaccess file manually. I can move the file if necessary.

  • PHP upload to GoDaddy hosted site

    - by 105894384987190582154
Hi, relatively new to both hosting and PHP, so apologies for (probably) missing the obvious, but… I built a page which would allow file uploads to my site, following the example laid out here: W3Schools PHP upload exercise Through the File Manage on my Godaddy hosting, I created a folder named ’upload’ so that the file would land there after being uploaded through the page I had built. Part of the returned page that appears after submitted the file reads: Temp file: d:temptmpphpE4C9.tmp Stored in: upload/testfile.txt which would indicate that the file has been sucesscully uploaded given the code in the example. However, I cannot see the file in the ’upload’ folder via my File Manage, or anywhere else on the hosting of my site (as far as I can see). I also cannot see the ’temp’ folder anywhere either… Any help or clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tim

  • how does "recent history" work on sites for php? (PHP)

    - by ggfan
I'm not sure if there is an explanation on SO for beginners, but if so, could you provide the links. I am interested in creating a "recent viewed" function that shows what links they clicked on before. I'm not sure if this is the 'correct' way to do it, but this is what I have so far... user clicks on a link(say ad.php?posting_id=12). if the user doesn't click on the link, no cookie or session is stored for the link if the user clicks on the link, it sets a cookie for $_cookie['ad.php?posting_id=22'] Each time the user clicks, more cookies are set In the recent viewed function, it gets all the $_cookie variables and displays them. if the user wants to clear the history, just destroy all the cookies I'm not sure if this is the way to do it, but is the viable? If not, what are the steps to create a "recent viewed" function

  • what's the difference between php time and sql time

    - by Ying
Can anyone tell me why the timestamp generated by the php time() function is so different from SQL datetime? If i do a date('Y-m-d', time()); in php, it gives me the time now, as it should. If I just take the time() portion and do: $now = time(); //then execute this statement 'SELECT * FROM `reservation` WHERE created_at < $now' I get nothing. But hey, so if the value of $now was 1273959833 and I queried 'SELECT * FROM `reservation` WHERE created_at < 127395983300000000' Then I see the records that ive created. I think one is tracked in microseconds vs the other is in seconds, but I cant find any documentation on this! What would be the right conversion between these two?? any help appreciated.

  • Background upload in PHP

    - by Robijntje007
    I am working with a form that allows me to upload files via a local folder and FTP. So I want to move files over ftp (which already works) Because of performance reasons I chose this process to run in the background so I use nfcftpput (linux) In CLI the following command works perfectly: ncftpput-b-u name -p password -P 1980 127.0.0.1 /upload/ /home/Downloads/upload.zip (Knowing that the b-parameter triggers background process) But if I run it via PHP it does not work (without the-b parameter it does) PHP code: $cmd = "ncftpput -b -u name -p password -P 1980 127.0.0.1 /upload/ /home/Downloads/upload.zip"; $return = exec($cmd);

  • how to convert numbers to alpha numeric system with php

    - by Patrick
Im not sure what this is called, which is why im having trouble searching for it. What im looking to do, is take numbers, and convert them to some alpha numeric base so that the number say 5000, wouldnt read 5000, but like G4u or something like that. The idea being to save space and also not make it obvious how many records there are in a given system. Im using php, so if there is something like this built into php even better, but even a name for this method would be helpful at this point Again, sorry for not being able to be more clear, im just not sure what this is called.

  • Using sessions & session variables in a PHP Login Script

    - by user1325291
I have just finished creating an entire login and register systsem in PHP, but my problem is I haven't used any sessions yet. (Like, there's not the word "session" in the entire script). I'm kind of a newbie in PHP and I've never used sessions before. What I want to do it, after the user registers and fills out the login form, they will still stay on the same page. So, like one half of the page will be if the session is logged_in and the other part will be else (the user is not logged in so display the login form). I also want to create session variables which will hold the username and password given at login. Thanks in advance! BTW this is my website - CP Cheats

  • PHP Readfile() number of bytes when user aborted

    - by jtnire
Hi Everyone, I'm using a PHP script to stream a live video (i.e. a file which never ends) from a remote source. The output is viewed in VLC, not a web browser. I need to keep a count of the number of bytes transferred. Here is my code: <?php ignore_user_abort(true); $stream = $_GET['stream']; if($stream == "vid1") { $count = readfile('http://127.0.0.1:8080/'); logThis($count); } function logThis($c) { $myFile = "bytecount.txt"; $handle = fopen($myFile,'a'); fwrite($handle,"Count: " . $c . "\n"); fclose($handle); } ?> However it appears that when the user presses the stop button, logThis() is never called, even though I've put in ignore_user_abort(true); Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

  • Protect my PHP App

    - by Abs
Hello all, I have developed an app and its written in PHP (with a bunch of SQL scripts), this app will be used by a few small companies. For them to use it, I will have to install Apache and SQL Server for them. Every method I have thought has fallen short of what I need. I was actually just hoping to use ZendGuard or IonCube but they don't support PHP 5.3.x. Is there a simpler method where I can maybe store a key in the database and make the app run only when it knows its on that server? Maybe create a key based on some random numbers/letters and the machine name, sql server host name and encode/decode this when ever the system is in use? Thanks all for any help or ideas
