  I have a dell inspiron 64 bit and I'm running both windows 7 and Ubuntu in dual boot I am having trouble installing skype and wine. If our users were to use Java 6, they have no problems! Just 7 (update 4). We sign ALL our jars, both the main application jar and it's library jars. i.e Users launching our webstart app see the blue shield instead of yellow or red. This is obviously an issue as users are more frequently now upgrading to Java 7. I have tried to force our app to use Java 6 on the user machine either by using a previous installation(works), or installing a new one....with the j2se version="1.6" tag around resources but this causes it's own problems that would probably be best to make into it's own thread (the auto-jre-installation part). Did Oracle break Webstart security with Java 7u4? How do I solve this securityexception issue?

  I'm using VSTS 2K8 and I've set up a Unit Test Project. In it, I have a test class with a method that does a simple assertion. I'm using an Excel 2007 spreadsheet as my data source. • How do I find a source code position from an address given by a crash in Window CE

  I have a Windows mobile 4.0 application, written using EVC++ 4.0 SP4 with MFC, that is exhibiting a random occasional crash in the field. e.g. Exception ox800000002 at 00112584. It does not happen under various emulators and simulators, hence is very difficult to trace using a debugger. The crash throws up and address and exception type. Given that I have the PDB is there any way to track this address to the source. I can't recompile using VC++ 8 as it doesn't support the mobile 4 SDK. My guess is that without a stack trace I'm not going to have much joy, as the chances are that the exception may not be in my source. Worth a try all the same. Edit As suggested, I have looked at the address in the context of the .MAP file for the program. Could be the stack got fragged before the crash got reported, and I'm wasting my time. I'll recompile with assembler output to try to isolate it to a given line, but don't hold out much hope :( Does the fact that the map file reports segmented addresses e.g. 0001:xxxxxxxxx and the crash report unsegmented addresses mean I have to carry out some computation to get the map address from the crash address?

  I'm trying to install the OMAP4 extras for ubuntu on my pandaboard. For some reason, a few packages can't seem to be agree with eachother. This what I did so far: installed on Ubuntu 11.10 on sd card Powered on Pandaboard and let it finish it's initial install Did an "apt-get update" and "apt-get upgrade", to install updates So far, everything went fine, and I was quite happy with my Pandaboard, but then I made the mistake of typing this: apt-get install ubuntu-imap4-extras At first, everything seemed ok, and it started downloading and installing.   I know this has been asked several times, but each issue and resolution seems different. I've tried almost everything I could think of, but I can't fix this. I have a VM (VMware I think) running 12.04.03 LTS which has stuck dependencies. I can think of only 2 other 'solutions': Edit the dpkg dependency list to trick it into doing the installation with a broken dependency. This seems very dodgy and it would be a last resort Downgrade both initramfs-tools and initramfs-tools-bin to 0.99ubuntu13 from the precise/main sources and hope that would get them in step. However I'm not sure if this will be possible, or whether it would introduce more issues. I'm not sure how this situation arise in the first place. /boot was 96% full; it's now 56% full (it's tiny - 64MB ... this is what I got from the hosting company). Can anyone offer advice please?

• Differentiating between Hard and Soft Dependencies - Fedora Yum [closed]

  I will ask this with an example - I have installed gnash-plugin on fedora 64 bit with Yum. It pulled in following packages - Installing : agg-2.5-9.fc13.x86_64 1/6 Installing : gtkglext-libs-1.2.0-10.fc12.x86_64 2/6 Installing : boost-thread-1.44.0-7.fc14.x86_64 3/6 Installing : boost-date-time-1.44.0-7.fc14.x86_64 4/6 Installing : 1:gnash-0.8.8-4.fc14.x86_64 5/6 Installing : 1:gnash-plugin-0.8.8-4.fc14.x86_64 6/6 Now, I tested the plugin and I didn't like it. I want to remove all these above packages which got installed with the plugin as I don't longer going to need them. How can I do this? I checked remove-with-plugin for yum but it pulls in all the packages which are currently depending on the packages. I understand the thought process behind showing what packages are getting affected - but I am wondering if there is any way of looking at the history with what package got installed when I installed a certain package. When gnash-plugin wasn't there firefox was running fine with but after I installation firefox is now depends on this new plugin. Has any one worked on differentiating hard-dependencies(hard means the program will break if that package is not there) and soft-dependencies ( soft means the program may not get affected fatally) ?

I have exchange server 2010 configured and working without any errors the problem is in cisco router configuration when exchange server sends emails out the receives WAN IP not the public ip. I have configured RDNS lookups with our MX record IP addesses that match the FQDN but all our emails are rejected because it does not match with the public ip. Receiving mails problem is not an problem all mails are coming through. i am sure i am missing something on the router configuration that does not sends the public ip, can any one help me to solve this issue. • How can I strip down Ubuntu?

  I'm trying to fix what I consider a bloated install of Ubuntu. When I install Ubuntu on a machine, I get things that I don't want - web browsers, office applications, media players, accessibility utilities, Ubuntu One, and so on. My goal is to create a way that I can have an install of Ubuntu that contains only the most minimal packages - the administrative tools and package manager, a GUI (my preference would be GNOME), a text editor, core drivers (video cards, network cards - wired and wireless, input devices), and anything else that I have to have to run a stable distribution. From there, I would like to pick and choose which packages I install to create my own customized system. After playing around with other distros like Arch and Slackware, like how they provide a barebones install by default. However, I get trapped in a "configuration hell" - right now, I tried moving away from Ubuntu and to Arch, but after spending 6 hours with it, I still don't have a usable system. It's half configured and I don't have any usable software packages to enable me to work. Is anything that can help me available? Either something like the OpenSUSE builder that lets you choose applications and packages for the CD, an advanced installation mode where I can choose the packages to install and which to ignore, or a guide on how to strip Ubuntu down to its bare bones? And I suppose a natural follow up to this is once I have a stripped down Ubuntu, will this affect updating at all? When Canonical releases the next version of Ubuntu, I don't want any bloatware reinstalled. And yes, most of the applications that come with Ubuntu, I simply don't use. Ever.

• Why does apt-get install Skype easily while aptitude complains about MAJOR dependency errors?

• How does one escape the GPL?

  DISCLAIMER I don't pretend to know anything about licensing. In fact, everything I say below may be completely false! Backstory: Recently, I've been looking for a decent game engine, and I think I've found one that I really like, Cafu Engine. However, they have a dual licensing plan, where everything you make with the engine is forced under GPL, unless you pay for a commercial license. I'm not saying that it's a bad engine, they even say that they are very relaxed about the licensing fees. However, the fact that it even involves the GPL scares me. So my question is basicly, how does one escape the GPL. Here's an example: The id Tech engine, also known as the Quake engine, or the Doom engine, was the base for the popular Source engine. However, the id Tech engine has been released under the GPL, and the Source engine is proprietary. Did Valve get a different license? Or did they do something to escape the GPL? Is there a way to escape the GPL? Or, if you use GPL'd source code as a base for another project, are you forced to use the GPL, and make your source code available to the world. Could some random person take the id Tech engine, modify it past the point of recognition, then use it as a proprietary engine for commercial products? Or are they required to make it open source. One last thing, I generally have no problem what-so-ever with open source. However I feel that open source has it's place, but that is not in the bushiness world.

• How do I bind an iTunes style source list to an NSTableView using Core Data?

  I have an iTunes style interface in my application: Source list (NSOutlineView) on the left that contains different libraries and playlists with an NSTableView on the right side of the interface displaying information for "Presentations". Similar to iTunes, I am showing the same type of information in the table view whether a library or playlist is selected (title, author, date created, etc). I currently have an NSArrayController connected to my NSTableView and was setting the fetch predicate based on what was selected in the source list. This works fine when selecting a library because I can just set the fetch predicate to filter by the "type" field in my Presentation Core Data entity. When I try to adjust the fetch predicate for the playlist however, it doesn't look like there is any way to set the fetch predicate because I've got a table in between Playlists and Presentations to keep up with the order within the Playlist. According to the Apple docs, these type of predicates are not doable with Core Data (it basically doesn't multiple inner joins). Below is the relevant portion of my Data Model. Is my data model setup incorrectly? Should I drop the NSArrayController and handle connecting the NSTableView up by hand? I'm trying to figure out if there is a simple fix, or really a design flaw.

Later on, I decide that this package just isn't the package for me, so I want to remove it and all of the other junk it installed with it since I'm not going to be needing any of it: # sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove --purge dansguardian Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following packages will be REMOVED: dansguardian 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded. After this operation, 1,816 kB disk space will be freed. Do you want to continue [Y/n]? However it is only removing that one specific package. What about clamav clamav-base clamav-freshclam libclamav6 libtommath0? Not only did it not remove them, but clamav was actually running a daemon that loads every time the computer boots. I thought that --auto-remove would remove not only the packages, but also the dependencies that were installed with it. So basically, without going through the apt history log file (if I even remember to do so, or if I even remember that a specific package I installed 3 months ago had dependencies along with it), is there a way to remove a package and all of the other dependencies that were installed like in this case?

  This seemed to me like the easiest thing to find, a simple way to display my classes as UML in eclipse But except this: http://java2uml.gforge.enseeiht.fr/ and this http://sourceforge.jp/projects/amateras/releases/ I haven't found any new, maintained and "good" implementation (with all due respect to the above two) Anything else I've missed?

  So I tried to install wine 1.5 a few times, I got 1.4 installed, and 1.6 installed oddly enough, I completely removed and purged all wine and still nothing. I installed ia32-lib and still nothing, tried installing from synaptic, ubuntu software center, and apt-get method. I get this error from apt-get in the terminal Reading package lists...
