  • Where to store: User connection information?

    ;) I am writing a .NET application wher ethe user connects to a given server. ALl information within the application is stored in the server. But I want / need to store the following information for the user: The server he connected to last The username he used to connect last (and no, no password, never ever). Any idea where to store this best? the application config file is not sensible (user != admin, application.config is write protected for him). So, my options are: In the registry. 2 keys under my own subkey. In a sort of ini file, stored in the user's data directory (AppData). This would possibly also allow later expansion (into like saving more information, some of which may not fit into the registry). Anyone a tip? Other alternatives? I tend so far to go for the AppData directory with my own subfolder - simply because it is a nice preparation for later to keep like a local copy of configuration etc.

  • Facebook Scrumptious sample app won't build

    I did exactly what they do in the video. However, when I get to the scrumptious app and try to build/run it, mine fails. It says: "Parse Issue. Expected a type." Here are the two lines that it thinks are broken (located in the ACAccountStore.h): // Returns the account type object matching the account type identifier. See // ACAccountType.h for well known account type identifiers - (ACAccountType *)accountTypeWithAccountTypeIdentifier:(NSString *)typeIdentifier; // Returns the accounts matching a given account type. - (NSArray *)accountsWithAccountType:(ACAccountType *)accountType; Here is a link to the tutorial.   • Creating a pie chart for an app

    I'm developing an app which requires a pie chart to display a set number of modules. The modules need to be clickable, sending a value to the database for how many times the module has been clicked. The slices will change color etc depending on this database value. The slices will always be equal in size. All simple stuff. My question is what charting system would you use. I've been looking at google charts but I have no way of registering a value in a slice without changing its 'weight' in the chart. So ideally I would like to add data-stage="2" to each slice that I can access with a custom method. Also google charts seems quite heavy for what I need? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Joe

    I have a ClassA containing an ArrayList of another ClassB I can save a new instance of ClassA with ClassB instances also saved using JDO. However, When I retrieve the instance of Class A, I try to do like the below: ClassA instance = PMF.get().getPersistenceManager().GetObjectByID( someid ); instance.GetClassBArrayList().add( new ClassB(...) ); I get an Exception like the below: Uncaught exception from servlet com.google.appengine.api.datastore.DatastoreNeedIndexException: no matching index found.. So I was wondering, Is it possible to add a new item to the previously saved collection? Or was it something I missed out. Best Regards

It runs only once and then app exit automatically. If i comment out all the code and just write NSLog(@"test"); then application works ok, it logs "test" after each 1 sec.

    What is the best way to reference datastore model attributes without using the four 'if statements' I have in the below sample code, which seem messy and inefficient.   • First iPhone App View Position Problem

    I am closely following the instructions given in the tutorial "Your First iPhone Application" on apple ADC. In the interface builder, I have set up a button positioned on the top according to the Apple Interface Guidelines. It runs without trouble if I simulate the interface in IB. However, if I run the built app, I get what is shown here. If you look at the view clearly, you will see that the entire view has been shifted up. And the magnitude of the shift is exactly the height of the status bar. And that's why the there is blank space at the bottom of the window, which was white instead of red. I have tried turning on the "Simulated Interface Elements", but that doesn't work either. The problem persists on real devices as well. However, using the "Simulate Interface" from IB looks fine.     Currently, my code would construct the GWT form, which user would submit directly to openId (or any authenticaiton service). Such a method works fine. However, what if I had the gwt page server access the OpenID provider, is there a way/strategy for the server to mediate authentication between its client and the auth provider? I wish to know the answers with respect to GAE as the proxy and, regardless if GAE or Tomcat is the intended proxy, answers wrt Google Accounts OpenID OAuth If so, it would be wonderful if someone could describe the installation strategy.

    My query is essentially the following: entries=Entry.all().order("-votes").order("-date").filter("votes >", VOTE_FILTER).fetch(PAGE_SIZE+1, page* PAGE_SIZE) I want to grab N of the latest entries that have a voting score above some benchmark (VOTE_FILTER). Google currently says that I cannot filter on 'votes' because I order by 'date.' I don't see a way that I can do this the way I want to, so I'd appreciate any advice.

I am not able to delete the cache directory since the file list is always null. Is there any other way to clear the application cache?

    I have an app that must get data from the Sqlite database in order to display the first element to the User. I have created a domain object which wraps the DB access and is a thread safe singleton. Is this following strategy optimal to ensure the fastest load given the iPhone's file access and memory management capabilities in threaded apps: 1) In the AppDelegate's FinishedLaunching event the very first thing I do is create the domain singleton within a new thread. This will cause the domain object to go to Sqlite and get the data it needs without locking the UI thread. 2) I then call the standard Window methods to add the View and MakeKeyAndVisible etc. Is there an earlier stage in the AppDelegate where I should fire off the thread that creates the Domain Object and accesses Sqlite?
