  • What are the pitfalls to watch out for when upgrading MediaWiki?

    We've got MediaWiki 1.13.2 and we'll soon be upgrading to the latest & greatest version (probably 1.16). We've got lots of extensions installed (for which we'll probably also need to get the latest versions) and we've done some minor configuring (e.g. adding new edit buttons). What should we watch out for during the upgrade? And what should we test? Does anyone have any experience of things that went wrong?

  • Missing Text in Air Application Flex4+Mac OSX Snow Leopard

    I am running the same AIR application under windows, linux and Mac OSX Windows and Linux look fine, but under mac OS-X the controls are not showing any text. Button, Tooltips, Labels, Check boxes, everything is blank. I just ported that app to Flex 4. Flex 3 versions of the same app on the same OSX machine works. How can I get controls to show text under Max OSX? Is this a font problem?

  • Showing solution path in VS2008 window name

    Is there a way to display the path of the solution in the Visual Studio window's name? By default it displays (SolutionName) - Microsoft Visual Studio, I would like it to instead show something like (SolutionName) - (PathToSolution) - Microsoft Visual Studio. The reason behind this is I can have multiple versions of a project checked out at a time (staging and trunk for example) and I'd like a quick way of checking without going through prompts etc.

However I would like to know if there is any service that enables the playback of audio after the user exits the application? I know that SDK 4.0 promises multitasking and background processes of the application. But i would like to know if this is enabled for audio playback in the earlier versions?

  • ATI Radeon Drivers works with which linux distribution and version? [closed]

    I have ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 graphics card. Almost every new linux distribution seems to have an issue with it, when i install the drivers. Working without utilizing the graphics card leaves me so unproductive. So i made a plan to use older versions of linux, any distribution suitable as a desktop distribution. The problems that i am facing are, 1) After installing drivers the system boots and hangs, 2) There are unusual lines over the screen 3) After upgrade system doesn't start properly(hangs the usual old way) The kind of answers i am looking for is, distribution X(the newer the version the better) doesn't have the above problem after installing drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 graphics card. UPDATE: The new drivers released by AMD seems to fix all the issues, although they are still beta

  • How to install VC80CRT debug runtimes without full visual studio 2005?

    I can't run a debug sdk application because it requires both VC 8 and VC 9 versions of the CRT. But it only requires visual studio 2008 for plugin dev, which is what I need. How do I install the debug runtimes from 2005 on to a Windows7 machine? I can't figure out how to make them run app local nor can I copy anything into the winSxS folder without a trusted installer.

My first instincts for doing the same would be to create two apps with the same package name so that installing one overwrites the other, but apps in the Market must be unique by package name. What are some patterns and best practices for sharing code and resources for free and paid versions of the same app and any naming conventions or project structures that work for this scenario as well?

    What ways are there to combine executing of a stored procedure and using it's result or parameters in a regular SQL query? Or not supported yet but planned in future versions of SQL Server. I'm afraid that I use variables when it's possible do not. I mean next: -- passing result of SELECT to SP SELECT a, b FROM t EXEC my_sp a, b -- passing result of SP to INSERT INSERT INTO t EXEC my_sp a, b etc.

    Greetings Overflowers, To my understanding (and I hope I'm not right) changes to indices cannot be MVCCed. I'm wondering if this is also true with big records as copies can be costly. Since records are accessed via indices (usually), how MVCC can be effective ? Do, for e.g., indices keep track of different versions of MVCCed records ? Any recent good reading on this subject ? Something like this: class NamedInteger(int): def __init__(self, value): super(NamedInteger, self).__init__(value) self.name = 'pony' def __str__(self): return self.name x = NamedInteger(5) print x + 3 print str(x) This works fine under Python 2.4, but Python 2.6 gives a deprecation warning. What is the best way to subclass a numeric type and to redefine constructors for builtin types in newer Python versions?

  • aptana/eclipse blocks other apps

    Hi, I've got a fresh win7 installation, the only apps installed so far are aptana (beta 3)/eclipse and firefox + chrome (except antivirus and drivers) Every time I start aptana, chrome and firefox are blocked, so firefox can't load a webpage (or sometimes takes veeeery long) and chrome doesn't even take care of events (so for example hovering over a link doesn't change the cursor and a click does...nothing or typing in an url, press enter - nothing happens) First I thought, aptana downloads something and blocks my internet connection... but IE works well and also there are no signs in the taskmanager (cpu%, network or memory) When I close Aptana, all works as before. I tried updating Java, which didn't help... On my office-computer I use the same apps and it works perfect. Got any ideas? TIA, waquner

    I would like to detect the 'tab' keypress in Safari. It already works in IE and Firefox. The trigger is on keypress. Both firefox and IE return key '9' which is Tab. But Safari looks like to ignore this. Both versions 4 and 5 seem to fail in detecting it. How do i detect it?

  • Should I be using Windows Live Mail or Outlook?

    I have been using Windows Live Mail now for a few years, and like the interface, ect ect. Just having a clear out of my domains emails, and think I should set up the other accounts properly. I have Outlook (using 2010 beta), so I thought maybe I should use it? Can anyone give me reasons for and against both bits of software? I did look for some comparisons between the two, but can't find much. Plus I always value up to date information. Bit more background: Using 1 Hotmail and 5 IMAP accounts (possibly more). Use a Windows Mobile. Any way I can sync the calendar and tasks OTA to my hotmail and back down to outlook? I know this is probably more a discussion question (sorry), but I would argue that it can be answered, as it is a question relating to what I myself, in my circumstances would be best.     As someone who hasn't followed the C++0x - now C++1x - story and developments closely, I am considering that it is nearing the time when I need to come up to speed with the 'released' version. I also am not really interested in looking over the standard immediately. Therefore: What resources are there that give the "effective changelog" between language versions? What books/articles are there that probe into the use of the new features? (marked as community wiki, if there are other good questions that relate to the transition, put them up)
