Using the new Aptana Studio 2.0 and loving it. Trying to open and edit .htaccess files in Aptana Studio, but it's not showing up in the PHP Explorer pane, which normally shows all files, but not .htaccess.
I am looking for a FREE tool to perform analyses on the NTFS file system of my Windows 7 PC. I want to easily see the amount of data distributed throught out the entire file system. The following applications seem very good, but they are not free and probably overkill for my requirements:
FolderSizes 5
MailMeter Windows File System Reporting Tool
I am aware that some applications (like Folder Size 2.5) can add a column in Windows Explorer to show the size of each folder, but I am looking for something more like a reporting tool.
Thank you for your suggestions.
Is there a way to increase the font size on a Windows Help file (CHM file) with recent versions of Internet Explorer? You used to be able to, but I think after IE7 the option was removed from the UI.
Because my development computer is located into another subnet than SQL Server 2008, I have to forward custom ports on firewall.
What ports have I to forward to be able to connect from Visual Studio Server Explorer to remote server?
I know the shortcut CRTL + page up/down
but I need the similar function that exists eg in internet explorer: Shift + alt
I found a macro that is close but does not entirely solve the problem:
If ActiveSheet.Name = "To Do" Then
Sheets("Budget").Activate
ElseIf ActiveSheet.Name = "Budget" Then
Sheets("To Do").Activate
I can name the A1 cell with the sheet name and use search (f5) and type the name, but this is to cumbersome.
Any ideas, guys?
how can I fix broken IIS on Windows 7 ?
Deinstalling it via "Windows Features" doesn't help. Apparently it doesn't uninstall IIS completely so on my subsequent attempts to install it installer hangs and I can see in Process Explorer that it keeps trying to launch svchost.exe -iis for 10 mins and then gives me error message.
Reinstalling whole Windows with all apps would take me another 3 days :/
Please help.
I have a SYABAS-based NAS Multimedia Server, which is connected via LAN to a PC running embedded Linux.
I can get a list of content on the NAS device, but when I press play, it does not play, but displays the text path of the media file itself.
In short it does not play streamed content, whereas the same content I am able to play using Windows based Internet Explorer.
I meed a media player to work with embedded linux....
I need to burn CDs (maybe DVDs too) from images (both bin/cue and iso format), and also from files. What is a good software to handle this?
Note that I don't have the software that may have come with the drive, but I'm assuming it works because I can burn files with Explorer. I just need something that can handle images too.
I have this annoying problem. Each time I double click on (open) a file in the Solution Explorer, it takes around 5 seconds to open.
It doesn't matter if its a small file or a large file.
Does anyone know how I can avoid this delay?
Regards, Casper
Is there something equivalent to WebDrive but free or open source ?
Update: I want on Windows if possible and be able to save a file on a virtual ftp drive from any software.
I know already I can type "ftp://[email protected]" into an Explorer address as suggested below but that doesn't transform it into a true virtual drive as i cannot save file from notepad for example.
I'm on Windows Server 2008 64-bit. LockHunter identifies that a folder is locked by the "System" process. I'm not sure why this happens, but my bigger concern is how to unlock it. I'm looking for a solution that can be run from the command line.
LockHunter itself is unable to unlock it. Also, Sysinternals' Process Explorer doesn't find the locked folder's handle. Rebooting is not an option either.
I need to find all compressed files/folders regardless of file format on a Windows Server 2003 machine.
Search options do not provide this capability.
Is there a way to list/view all compressed files?
Perhaps, this can be done by PowerShell using file/folder attributes and put into a txt file with file location.
UPD:
Under compressed files/folders - I mean files which appear in blue color in Explorer after changing file/folder attribute.
I've recently started using Windows 7 (64-bit) at work, but after installing Aptana like usual, and mapping my network folders like I always have, Aptana shows the mapped drives, but with a red X on the drive icon. Using the native windows explorer I can browse the drives fine, and I don't need to login.
If it matters the mapped drives are hosted on both Windows and Linux servers.
Any ideas on what to do? My googling is drawing blanks.
Windows load modern UI
Only when I click on the "Desktop" tile shortcut that my desktop is really loaded, it take a few seconds to open everything (like rainmeter and other things)
How can I make windows load both modern UI and my desktop on the background? I don't want to skip the modern UI just autoload the desktop.
Similar to add something.exe to the startup, but what executable should I use? I've tried explorer.exe but didn't work.
I think my PC has been infected by something! IE does not work: "Internet Explorer Warning - visiting this web site may harm your computer!" Pop-ups are pointing me to http://wareprotect.net/support to buy Antispyware Soft. What happened? What should I do? Thanks for your help.
Here is what I do:
restart machine with Windows 8.1
determine "EFI System" parition with the Disk Management utility
run command prompt as administrator
type diskpart
type select disk 0 then select partition 2 then assign
open windows explorer windows+e
refresh if the drive is not showing F5
try to open drive by double clicking
What I expected to happen:
I can at least look at my EFI partition files.
What happened:
after clicking continue
after clicking "security tab" link, no security tab
What do I need to do to access my EFI partition on Windows 8.1?
Firefox adoption in the home/personal user base seems to be growing fine, but adoption in the enterprise is not going anywhere quickly.
My view on this is because SysAdmins are not promoting it within the organisations because Internet Explorer has features which make it more acceptable to an enterprise, such as
Managing settings via GPO
Integration into the rest of the update stack
Support of common business applications
So what would you add to Firefox to get it more promotion by SysAdmins in the enterprise?
I'm trying to determine which of the three main browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer) are the most secure and safe. Right now, in our system, Firefox 10 and IE 8 are cleared as 'good-to-use', but Chrome isn't.
Is Chrome really less secure than Firefox and IE, or are the IT folks are slow at updating (Firefox 12 and IE 9 and 10 preview are out right now)?
Completely rewrote question. I found the original was not specific enough and the edits started sapping its focus
I'm working on re-arranging a number of the shell folders in windows 7 to utilize Dropbox to keep a set of machines in sync. I'd like to create a .reg file which I can use to update the locations of these folders rather than manually changing them from the UI, but I don't want to rely on the path to the home folder being the same each time. So my question is, is it possible to replace the REG_SZ values in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders with REG_EXPAND_SZ values specifying an offset from %HOME% instead of an exact path?
I'm looking for a tool that will allow me to see all of the memory used by by Windows XP/2003 machine. I know that Process Explorer and others will show you what memory is being used by each process, but I need a full graphical view of all used and unused memory on my machine. I have seen an app that does this but cannot remember the name. Anyone know of a tool like this?
Hi,
I need to enable a rule using a GPO's, the rule is - Security Zones: Do not allow users to Add/Delete Sites.
The rule is located
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer
But I need to configure that rule on a windows server 2003 sp2, but does not appear, but If I look on a Windows 2008 the rule it's there.
So the question is how can update my rule list on a windows server 2003?
Thanks
Im looking for a decent windows editor with solid mercurial support. Ive had some trouble with notepad ++ (the explorer plugin was constantly crashing). Can anyone suggest any alternatives. Im not averse to shelling out a reasonable sum for a worthwhile product.
I have a 500 GB hard disk drive.
I am using Acronis to have backups over there.
Is there any way to hide that drive from Windows Explorer or make that drive only used by Acronis and other read only.
Just like what Windows Backup does.
I'm using an external hard drive, a Western Digital MyBook 1TB of some sort with eSATA on an eSATA II ExpressCard adapter from Belkin on Windows Vista 32-bit.
The issue I'm having is that after a while power management kicks in and puts the hard drive to sleep. When I resume my work and browse the drive, for example, the Explorer hangs and while I can still use my other apps, it takes a couple minutes for it to realize it should wake up the drive and recommence work.
What's going on?
I have a MacBook 2010 and I installed Windows 7 Ultimate using Boot Camp. I can't connect to the Internet. I have a wireless rooter in my house. Internet Explorer say's that maybe the wireless adapter isn't turned on. How do I connect to the Internet without using a cable?
