  • Moving media files while preserving itunes rating in itunes

    Hi, I've seen many threads on how to move an entire media collection from one machine to another. I want to organize my mp3 directories, but any copied file loses its reference from itunes library, thus, when I add it to itunes again, it'll have no rating data. I guess it's possible if I manipulate the itunes xml database, but I really don't want to mess with it "by hand".

  • Apache is not interpreting .PHP files

    I recently downloaded OpenSUSE OS version 11.4 from the site to use it as a server..In order to do that I downloaded the server edition that has Apache/2.2.17 and PHP5 downloaded by default.....Ok till now it is fine Now I started the Apache successfully and put a test.php file in the documentRoot directory. test.php contain only <?php phpinfo() ?> Then using my browser I typed http://localhost/test.php and here was the problem the browser didn't display what phpinfo() should display, instead it asked me whether I want to open or save test.php...which is driving me crazy....   • Can't Run .exe files from my DVD-R/W Rom win XP Pro

    Hi everybody In my windows XP Pro I can't run any .exe file from my DVD Rom, but I can run them on my hard drive, Even I can't copy anything from a DVD to my hard drive. and when I run .exe file there is some prompt message like "setup.exe is not a valid win32 application" or something like that.     I wish to dual boot Windows XP and Windows 7. I wish to have my documents available from both OSes. Do I create a single partition and it just works? 2 partitions, one for each OS? 3 partitions, one for each OS and one for the "my documents"? [EDIT] I used 3 partitions, one for each partition and one for docs which is mapped as a separate drive. Works perfectly. The only think you need to do is hide the other OS partition, ie for Windows XP, hide the Windows 7 partition. You do this from partition manager.

  • Files missing after copying from one sdcard to another using Ubuntu 12.04

    I have two Kingston sdcards 8GB and 32GB. The 8GB for HTC Sensation and 32GB for my Tablet (Chinese). I soon ran out of space on my phone and decided to swap the data between the sdcards. I copied the data of 32GB sdcard to my PC(with Ubuntu 12.04) deleted everything on the 32GB sdcard and copied data from the 8GB sdcard to the other sdcard. At last I copied the data from my PC to the 8GB sdcard(before this I deleted everything that was on it before). Now the problem is that the 8GB sdcard has the data exactly the same, but the 32GB sdcard has some missing data. All my photos(not copied or posted on Facebook) and Songs are lost. Please help as to what I can do to get my data back? I have Android Revolution HD (ICS 4.0.3) on my rooted HTC Sensation (India). I suspect it has something to do with my data loss.

  • Force copy files off CRC error filled hard drive

    So I got a dying Western Digital hard drive here and I have a new Western Digital hard drive to transfer all the data to. I have the new HDD hooked up by a SATA to USB. I want to transfer all the pictures, etc to the new HDD. I am unable to because of the CRC error. I have ran chkdsk /f /r and it didnt work because the drive is just simply dying. What tool will let me bypass CRC and continue on with the copying? OS: Vista Home Prem. 32bit

    I use colinux, see http://www.colinux.org/ ; I used the ubuntu image (ubuntu without desktop environment) and install the packages gdm ?x-window-system-core and gnome-core and update to 10.04. the default user ( which is the only one user) is root. When I try to drag a file into gnome-terminal, I don't get the path of this file, instead the image of this file just came back to the original place. Anyone knows why this happened?

    I have a simple CMS site that was written in asp.net. My site looks like: www.example.com/ www.example.com/content/index.aspx www.example.com/content/get.aspx?id=234 (loads an article) It uses a database currently, but I am going to dump all the content to file, and then I can just pull the contents of the file based on the id=234 value. I want to move this site over to my ubuntu nginx server. What options do I have? Suggestions? I want to keep the URL structure exactly how it is now, how can I do this? Would this be any easier using apache?

    I've just completely uninstalled nginx 1.0.6 from my server (Ubuntu 11.04) using apt-get remove nginx rm -rf /etc/nginx/ rm -rf /usr/sbin/nginx rm /usr/share/man/man1/nginx.1.gz apt-get remove nginx* Now I want to install it again, however when starting nginx, I get errors such as: Restarting nginx: nginx: [emerg] open() "/etc/nginx/nginx.conf" failed (2: No such file or directory) Then I placed my own conf file, then I get a new error: Restarting nginx: nginx: [emerg] open() "/etc/nginx/mime.types" failed (2: No such file or directory) in /etc/nginx/nginx.conf:12 Now it seems that apt-get install nginx doesn't install it completely, I cleared the apt-get cache, doesn't seem to help. How can I get a full installation of nginx using apt-get?

  • Vim is spellchecking in XML files where I don't want it to, and only there

    I'm trying to use Vim's builtin spellchecking in some XML documents. This happens merely by having the XML syntax loaded, as seen in the following minimalistic example (which reproduces what I also see in large XML documents): Note that given two buffers with exactly the same content, when Filetype is text, the spellchecking works; when it is xml, it does not. spell is set in both buffers. However, given this view of the top three lines of a large XML document, you can see that the spellchecking is certainly on: but it is only checking attributes. The nuisance is that none of the things it is actually finding are mispelled, and it isn't finding any of the numerous misspellings in the document. I would like it at a minimum to find the spelling errors in the body of the document, and being able to turn off the checking on attributes would be a nice option. I've searched for @NoSpell in the xml.vim file, but that returns no hits.

  • uTorrent repeatedly downloads old files from the RSS feed

    So I set up uTorrent to automatically download torrents from EZTV search-based RSS feeds. And it works splendidly. I just set feeds to download automatically, and didn't set up smart episode filters or anything else in the uTorrent itself. However, from time to time something happens to EZTV feeds which makes uTorrent re-download every single torrent in every feed. I'm looking for a workaround.

  • Files Corrupted on System Restore

    I restored my OSX today by copying the system over from a backup. Most things seem to be working, but every single GIT repo gives pretty much the same error fatal: object 03b45161eb27228914e690e032ca8009358e9588 is corrupted I have tried chowning, doing everything as sudo or root... I have no idea what to try next. This would be a normal git question except that it's on many repos. Ideas? Note: I'm using git 1.7.0.3 and I was probably using 1.7.0 before. Edit: Tried with 1.7.0.2 and it made no difference. Edit: Even when copying any of the repos I get this strange message cp: .git/objects/fe/86b676974a44aa7f128a55bf27670f4a1073ca: could not copy extended attributes to /eraseme/Pickers/.git/objects/fe/86b676974a44aa7f128a55bf27670f4a1073ca: Operation not permitted

  • Delay before download starts when serving files using nginx

    I am currently using nginx to serve downloads off my website. Users sometimes need to wait about 5 seconds before their download starts after clicking a download link. I'm not sure if I need to start using raid 10 (I'm currently using raid 50) or if this is a problem with my nginx configuration. I am also on a 1gbit line but download sometimes go as low as 10kB/s. My server: Dual Xeon 5620 CPU, 12x2TB drives with 8GB ram.   • Ubuntu: package installed, but files missing?

    I have been playing around with the /etc/asterisk directory, installing the related pacakge (asterisk-config), removing it, removing the directory manually (just playing around to get the configuration synced to my configuration repo). Now I just want to reinstall the official package, so I do: root@tethys:/etc# apt-get install asterisk-config root@tethys:/etc# tree asterisk/ asterisk/ +-- manager.d What?! Empty?!? Have I installed it? root@tethys:/etc# dpkg --get-selections | grep asterisk asterisk install asterisk-config install asterisk-core-sounds-en install asterisk-core-sounds-en-gsm install asterisk-modules install asterisk-moh-opsound-gsm install asterisk-voicemail install Indeed!     Using wget command, how do I allow/instruct to overwrite my local file everytime, irrespective of how many times I invoke. Let's say, I want to download a file from the location: http://server/folder/file1.html Here, whenever I say wget http://server/folder/file1.html, I want this file1.html to be overwritten in my local system irrespective of the time it is changed, already downloaded, etc. My intention/use case here is that when I call wget, I'm very sure that I want to replace/overwrite the existing file.   • Copying files from NAS to NAS drives

    Very simple question. I've got 2 NAS drive that are "wire" connected via a router. If I have a wireless laptop and request a large amount of data be copied from one NAS drive to the other, does the network traffic go direct from the one drive to the other, going via the wired network, or does the network traffic go via my laptop, if you see what I mean. IE. From the NAS drives wired network, to the wireless network and then back to the wired network. Is this a common bottle-neck when copying a large amount of data? And if so, is there a way to avoid it. Thanks.

  • Viewing CHM Files Across The Network in Windows 7

    When I try to open .chm help from a network shared drive I receive the following error: Navigation to the webpage was canceled. I know about the .reg solution described on KB896054 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions] "MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001 but it does not work in Windows 7. Any ideas how to make .chm help available from the network drives? Edit: I have the network path mapped to P: drive letter. My program runs from P: and I want to see the help for it. Copying the program to local drive is not a solution for me.

  • Sending files with iChat doesnt work in Snow Leopard

    My girlfriend and I often sit in the lounge looking at stuff online and sending it to each other to look at. So sometimes we drag images into an iChat and it will appear in the other persons iChat window. The ability to do this seems to have broken with the upgrade to 10.6, and the issue persists over both of our laptops and my iMac. The following is a scheenshot of what happens. The image that appears in my window is from me dragging it in there, but the other person cannot see it, and the next bubble is the other person attempting to send me an image, but I only ever see that little white circle for a while then it dissapears. Is this broken for everyone?

  • Vi on Linux: show ^M line endings for DOS-format files

    On Solaris, if you open a file in vi that has Windows line endings, this shows up as ^M at the end of every line. On Linux, vi is cleverer and understands the Windows file format, and does not display ^M. Is there a setting to make Linux vi behave the same as Solaris in this respect? A common problem for us is copying a shell script off a (Windows) dev box and forgetting to dos2unix it, and then being confused when it doesn't work properly. On Solaris the problem is obvious as soon as you vi the file, but not on Linux. Thanks.

    Is it possible to do something like find -perm g=u? I say "like" because -perm mode requires mode to specify all the bits, not just g, and because I can't put u on the right side of the =, like I can with the chmod command: you can specify exactly one of the letters ugo: the permissions granted to the user who owns the file (u), the permissions granted to other users who are members of the file's group (g), and the permissions granted to users that are in neither of the two preceding categories (o). At the moment, I'm doing find | xargs -d \\n ls -lartd | egrep '^.(...)\1 which is just ugly. Thanks.

  • Log files for group policy application deployment

    I'm looking into using group policy to deploy a couple of applications. I want to have the log of each installation written to a shared folder on a file server for tracking purposes. I can create the log if I pass the appropriate parameters. For example: msiexec /i Package.msi /l*vx c:\Package.log However using group policy for the deployment, you can't pass any parameters to the installation file. Is there anyway to specify the log file location in the process of creating the msi package?
