  I have var item which I want to convert in to a Datatable. How can I do this. var items = (from myObj in this.Context.Orders group myObj by myObj.OrderDate.ToString("yyyy-mm") into ymGroup select new { Date = ymGroup.Key, Start = ymGroup.Min(c => c.OrderId), End = ymGroup.Max(c => c.OrderId) }); I need to convert the items into a DataTable.   I'm trying to fill an array with words inputted by user. Each word must be one letter longer than previous and one letter shorter than next one. Their length is equal to table row index, counting from 2.   I am using a <% foreach ...% loop to list a collection of items on my website. I want to add a different background color for the style of alternating rows in my list. I have found a way to do this but I am not satisfied with it as it seems like a hack. • HTMLAgilityPack ChildNodes index works, named node does not

  I am parsing an XML API response with HTMLAgilityPack. I am able to select the result items from the API call. Then I loop through the items and want to write the ChildNodes to a table. When I select ChildNodes by saying something like: sItemId = dnItem.ChildNodes(0).innertext I get the proper itemId result. But when I try: sItemId = dnItem.ChildNodes("itemId").innertext I get "Referenced object has a value of 'Nothing'." I have tried "itemID[1]", "/itemId[1]" and a veriety of strings. I have tried SelectSingleNode and ChildNodes.Item("itemId").innertext. The only one that has worked is using the index. The problem with using the index is that sometimes child elements are omitted in the results and that throw off the index. Anybody know what I am doing wrong?

  I have a LINQ-2-Entity query builder, nesting different kinds of Where clauses depending on a fairly complex search form. Works great so far. Now I need to use a SQL Server fulltext search index in some of my queries. Is there any chance to add the search term directly to the LINQ query, and have the score available as a selectable property? If not, I could write a stored procedure to load a list of all row IDs matching the full-text search criteria, and then use a LINQ-2-Entity query to load the detail data and evaluate other optional filter criteria in a loop per row. That would be of course a very bad idea performance-wise. Another option would be to use a stored procedure to insert all row IDs matching the full-text search into a temporary table, and then let the LINQ query join the temporary table. Question is: how to join a temporary table in a LINQ query, as it cannot be part of the entity model?

  hi, 1) if I create items in a for loop, is correct to add a new eventListener for each item ? Or should I add only 1 eventListener to the parent ? and call the event through ID ? 2) if I want to scale my item, (a LinkButton with icon image), I noticed that the icon is sometimes resized with delay, so I have a bit of flickering when I trigger the event. Should I not use icons, and set the image in another way ? How can I fix this ? thanks

And the number of random guesses I want to limit to the execution time specified by the user. This means I want to make full use of the execution time limit defined by the user (as a command line argument) to make as many random iterations as possible.   In Rails3, I have the following line: @messages = Message.where("recipient_deleted = ?", false).find_by_recipient_id(@user.id) In my view, I loop through @messages and print out each message, as such: <% for message in @messages %> <%= message.sender_id %> <%= message.created_at %> <%= message.body %> <% end %> This works flawlessly when there are several messages. The problem is that when I have one message, I get an error thrown at me: undefined methodeach'` How do I force rails to always return an array of messages even if there's only one message so that each always works? • Why won't the VisualVM Profiler profile my application?

  I've created a simple 1 file java application that iterates through a loop, calls some functions, allocates some memory, adds some numbers, etc. I run that application via eclipse's Run As->Java Application. The running application shows up in Java VisualVM under Local. I double click on that application and go to the Profiler tab. The default settings are: Start profiling from classes: my.main.package.** Do not profile classes: java.*, javax.*, sun.*, sunw.*, com.sun.* I click on CPU. The CPU and Memory buttons gray out. Nothing happens. The Status says profiling inactive. When my application terminates the Status says application terminated. What am I doing wrong here? Are there some settings I need to tweak? Do I need to set a VM flag when I launch my application?

• Fastest way to calculate an X-bit bitmask?

  I have been trying to solve this problem for a while, but couldn't with just integer arithmetic and bitwise operators. However, I think its possible and it should be fairly easy. What am I missing? The problem: to get an integer value of arbitrary length (this is not relevant to the problem) with it's X least significant bits sets to 1 and the rest to 0. For example, given the number 31, I need to get an integer value which equals 0x7FFFFFFF (31 least significant bits are 1 and the rest zeros). Of course, using a loop OR-ing a shifted 1 to an integer X times will do the job. But that's not the solution I'm looking for. It should be more in the direction of (X << Y - 1), thus using no loops.

The problem I'm having though is on the line: Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") I keep getting the message ActiveX component can't create object: 'WScript.Shell' I'm totally confused because this exact same code runs fine if I write it in a .htm file. Why does my browser treat my .asp page differently than the .html file? How do i fix this problem?

  I have a web service load driver that's a Windows Script File (WSF), that includes some VBScript and JavaScript files. My web service requires that the incoming message is base64 encoded. I currently have a VBScript function that does this, but it's very inefficient (memory intensive, mostly due to VBScripts awful string concatenation) [Aside; Yes, I've seen Jeff's latest blog post. The concatenation is happening in a loop across messages that are 1,000's to 10,000's bytes in size.] I've tried using some custom string concatenation routines; one using an array and one using ADODB.Stream. These help, a little, but I think it would help more if I had some other way of encoding the message rather than via my own VBS function. Is there some other way of encoding my message, preferebly using native Windows methods?

So it looks something like this: MyInlineFormSet = inlineformset_factory(MyMainModel, MyInlineModel, form=MyCustomInlineModelForm) I am rendering this inlineformset manually in a template so that I have more control over widgets and javascript. So I go in a loop like {% for form in myformset.forms %} and then manually render each field as described on this page http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/topics/forms/#customizing-the-form-template The formset has can_delete = True or can_delete = False depending on whether the user is creating new objects or editing existing ones. Question is, how do I manually render the can_delete checkbox?

• No speed-up with useless printf's using OpenMP

  I just wrote my first OpenMP program that parallelizes a simple for loop. I ran the code on my dual core machine and saw some speed up when going from 1 thread to 2 threads. However, I ran the same code on a school linux server and saw no speed-up. After trying different things, I finally realized that removing some useless printf statements caused the code to have significant speed-up. Below is the main part of the code that I parallelized: #pragma omp parallel for private(i) for(i = 2; i <= n; i++) { printf("useless statement"); prime[i-2] = is_prime(i); } I guess that the implementation of printf has significant overhead that OpenMP must be duplicating with each thread. What causes this overhead and why can OpenMP not overcome it?

  Hi everyone! Here's the situation I have a webpage which has one drop down called prefer. I wanted the user to be able to choose one option and then have a link next to it called "Add" which generates another textbox with the same options, i was going to use jquery to show an additional drop down. But if possible I wanted to put the select box in an array and then loop through this process infinitely. so I could call select name="prefer[]" and somehow put in a variable which increases. Afterwards, I could use php to cycle through the array and utilize each one. Could I do this with Javascript somehow?
